Abstract:
This paper describes the first Business-to-Business mentoring programme, which was conducted in the North East region of England during 2000. This was a pilot for a scheme that is part of the region's overall effort to help small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) improve manufacturing praxis. A large host company mentored nine SMEs in the use of performance measurement with the help of a university-based expert facilitator. The programme lasted eight months, with support provided from the European Regional Development Fund. It was managed by the Regional Technology Centre in Sunderland. The authors show how the programme was initiated, how companies were recruited and how individual projects were selected. They go on to discuss how projects were tackled, how these related to objectives within partner companies and how successful mentoring was achieved. People-related issues, and teamworking, as always, present both a major challenge and an opportunity in schemes like this. Besides solving technical problems within the companies, the programme helped to engage existing staff skills in arriving at the various solutions, often to the surprise of company managers. It is suggested that, in addition to the many practical improvements that can be achieved, the well-known problem of changing patterns of control during small company growth can be facilitated by such schemes. The reasons why some companies benefited substantially and others failed to engage completely in the programme are also discussed.

Social, political and economic conditions are changing in rural Canada. The forest industry has operated in rural communities throughout the nation for several centuries and the relationships between forest companies and communities have evolved over that time. This paper outlines a model for company-community relations that will foster sustainable communities given the new realities that exist in rural Canada. The model will benefit forest industry firms as well as the communities that host them. Six problems that inhibit sustainability in timber-dependent communities are outlined and several ideas for corporate action to address these challenges are offered. Among these are supporting human capital development, leadership development, and entrepreneurship; nurturing healthy communities; and ensuring that costs and benefits associated with timber-dependence are distributed evenly across regions where specific companies have a sphere of influence and within specific communities where companies operate. Key words: Company-community relations, human capital, entrepreneurship, leadership development, equity, corporate responsibility.

Abstract:
Although it is important to examine how creative performance can be achieved by facilitating knowledge sharing activities among its members, few studies have examined these relationships. Therefore, this study analyzed the effects of coworkers’ helping behavior on knowledge sharing and creativity. It also attempted to demonstrate the moderating role of interactional justice as a situational variable that positively affects coworkers’ helping behavior. Using data from 200 full-time supervisor–subordinate dyads in a large public institution located in South Korea, we performed multiple regression analysis and the bootstrapping method to test our hypotheses. The results of this study presented that coworkers’ helping behavior encouraged individuals to share knowledge and increase their creative performance. Moreover, this study demonstrated that the positive effect of coworkers’ helping behavior on employees’ creativity through their knowledge sharing was stronger when interactional justice was high rather than low. Therefore, this research contributes to finding the critical factors that enable a company to gain a competitive advantage by providing the impact of coworkers’ helping behavior and supervisors’ interactional justice on knowledge sharing and creativity among employees.

Abstract:
The Company of Sirens is a popular, feminist theatre troupe formed in Toronto in 1985. They are engaged in collaborative theatre whose main objective is to “heal their audiences through humour” and educate them with respect to social and political issues, history, and ideology. The Working People’s Picture Show and Foul Play are performed regularly in union halls, women’s shelters, high schools and universities across the country and are adapted to the concerns of particular groups, sometimes with members of these groups helping to create the new scenes. Mother Tongues falls into the considerably more esoteric genre of the performance piece but is nevertheless concerned with the same political issues and attitudes that inspire The Sirens’ more specifically pedagogical works.

Abstract:
This short case at a high tech company in the Midwest, illustrates some important principles for managing people focusing more on informal, rather than formal controls. Lean Thinking advocates reducing waste, and continuously improving (Womack & Jones, 2003). When a company shifts paradigms from traditional management to Lean management, the culture of the company transforms in many ways. Traditional, formal methods of controlling employee behavior often involve a lot of non-value-add labor and cost, at the same time, they are not effective. They are seemingly based on the attitude that employees are unprofessional, cannot develop internalized standards of behavior or understand the big picture of why it is in their own best interests to maintain high standards. Analysis of this incident is useful for students of Lean management, in helping them see the power of informal controls embedded in the company culture.

HealthSouth Corporation, one of the nations largest healthcare providers, was the first company charged under the provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. HealthSouths CEO, Richard Scrushy, and 16 of its executives were indicted for allegedly using a sophisticated scheme to overstate the companys earnings by as much as $2.7 billion between 1986 and 2002. Fifteen of the sixteen indicted executives pleaded guilty and another was convicted by jurors. After five months of court hearing, Scrushy was acquitted of all criminal charges. However, he remains a defendant in 40 cases filed by former HealthSouth investors and creditors. This case is based on court materials and other publicly available information and has been used in several undergraduate and MBA courses. The case and the accompanying teaching notes have proven to be an effective tool in teaching students the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and in helping students become more ethically conscious.

. CV. Aneka Kaca is a company engaged in the supply of the best glass materials, because CV. Aneka Kaca is a direct distributor from Japan. In a company like CV. Aneka Kaca, employees are one of the important assets in helping to improve and stabilize the company. Employees are people who work in a company or agency to carry out an operational task and expect remuneration in the form of a commission or salary. Usually employees will also get bonuses from the company. Bonuses that will be received by employees are one of the ways companies use to increase the motivation of their employees' performance. But giving bonuses to CV. Aneka Kaca still uses the conventional method, so it can take a long time if only managers do the math. The determination of bonuses can sometimes be missed due to one or two problems that can have an impact on awarding bonuses. The Naive Bayes algorithm is a simple probabilistic classifier that computes a probabilistic set by summing the frequencies and value combinations from a given dataset.
