Abstract:
Abstract: Third trimester of pregnancy induces hematological changes, including physiological leukocytosis, as part of the immunological adaptation. However, hematological monitoring of pregnant women in Manado is still limited. This study aimed to describe leukocyte counts and differential leukocyte counts in third-trimester pregnant women and analyze their distribution based on maternal age categories and parity (gravida). This was a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. A total of 30 third-trimester pregnant women were selected using purposive sampling. Hematological examinations were conducted using fluorescence flow cytometry. The results showed that all samples had leukocyte counts within normal range (100%); no cases of leukocytosis or leukopenia. Differential leukocyte counts revealed normal values of basophils and eosinophils in all samples (100%). However, variations were observed in segmented neutrophils (50% normal, 46.7% elevated, 3.3% decreased), lymphocytes (26.7% normal, 50% decreased, 23.3% elevated), and monocytes (60% normal, 40% elevated). Increased segmented neutrophils and decreased lymphocytes were more common in the high-risk age category. Leukocyte distribution was generally normal, but variations in differential counts were higher among multigravida women. In conclusion, these hematological changes reflect physiological adaptations during pregnancy without significant pathological indications, underscoring the importance of hematological monitoring for early complication detection. Keywords: leukocyte; differential count; third semester of pregnancy Abstrak: Kehamilan trimester ketiga menyebabkan perubahan hematologis, termasuk leukositosis fisiologis, sebagai bentuk adaptasi imunologis, namun pemantauan hematologi pada wanita hamil di Kota Manado masih terbatas. Abstract:
Cancer is the second leading cause of mortality worldwide accounting for almost 10 million deaths in 2020. Current standard of care treatment varies depending on the type and stage of disease, but commonly includes surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy. There is evidence that whole- and half-body exposure to low dose ionizing radiation can also be an effective therapeutic due to its stimulation of anti-cancer immunity. One of the limiting factors for past clinical trials using low dose radiation therapy has been adverse hematological events. However, similar hematological changes are also frequently reported following standard of care treatments in oncology. This review summarizes the effects of various cancer therapies on hematologic toxicity through the evaluation of complete blood count reports. The reviewed literature elucidates hematological trends in patients undergoing chemotherapy, and both high and low dose radiation therapy. In general, high dose radiation and chemotherapy can result in widespread changes in blood counts, with the most severe effects related to leukopenia. Overall, compared to standard of care treatments, low dose radiation results in similar, yet more mild hematological changes. Taken together, hematological toxicities should not be a limiting factor in the applicability of low dose radiation as a cancer therapeutic.

Abstract:
The common domestic equine species present various hematological differences within reference values as a result of age, breed, sex, physical activity, among others. Therefore, it is important that reference intervals should be established for these particularities. This work aimed to evaluate sequential changes in hematological parameters of healthy Thoroughbred foals from birth to six months of life. Blood samples were collected immediately after birth (before the intake of colostrum), at 24 h, 7 days, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 months of age in order to measure packed cell volume (PCV), total plasma protein (TPP), fibrinogen and white blood cells (WBC). Descriptive statistics, analysis of one-way AOV and comparison between means by LSD test were accomplished. Hematological values were assessed in 1426 samples. The curve variations in PCV, total plasma protein, fibrinogen and WBC values observed in healthy Thoroughbred foals from birth to 6 months were similar to those described for other breeds. However, we verified higher TPP values than mean reference values at all ages. The ranges of fibrinogen and WBC showed small intervals and maximum values below the hematologic reference values for all ages. These changes in hematologic values provide useful information for clinical evaluation of Thoroughbred foals.

Abstract:
Introduction. One of the stages in the development of medicinal products (MP) is the study of safety assessment. Determination of possible toxic effects, establishment of the nature and severity of the damaging effect of drugs under development during their administration is carried out, including studying the effect on hematologic parameters and hematopoiesis. Aim. To assess the possibilities of PEG-HYAL impact on hematologic parameters and hematopoiesis when administered per os. Material and methods. Hyaluronidase immobilized by electron beam synthesis on polyethylene oxide (PEG-HYAL). Laboratory animals – white mature conventional outbred rats and chinchilla rabbits. Hematological parameters were determined using an automatic hematological analyzer Abacus (Diatron, Austria) and conventional manual methods of research. The effect of PEG-HYAL on the state of medullary hematopoiesis was determined by counting the total number of myelokaryocytes per femur (106/femur) and myelograms on smears (in rats). The percentage of individual cell forms in rat myelogram counts was converted to absolute numbers, x106 cells per femur. In rabbits, the myelogram indices of bone marrow, taken from the sternum segment, were determined in relative units (%) only. Results. The analysis of the obtained results of the effect of PEG-HYAL administration on hematologic indices in rats (male and female) did not show any pathological changes. The revealed changes in hematologic parameters in rats are neither significant, nor systemic and dose-dependent. PEG-HYAL administration to rabbits has no toxic effect on hematologic parameters with multiple intragastric administration. Administration of PEG-HYAL for 28 days to rats in all studied doses does not produce a toxic effect on the main studied bone marrow parameters. While the revealed changes in the quantitative composition of myelokaryocytes are non-systemic and reversible. PEG-HYAL administration has no toxic effect on bone marrow indices of rabbits when administered intragastrically in the studied doses during 28 days. Conclusion. Interpretation of the obtained results, concerning the effect of the per os PEG-HYAL administration to experimental animals on hematologic parameters and hematopoiesis, can be used as a preclinical dossier of the drug.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to characterize the frequency of breed, gender and age, as well as seasonality in canine parvovirus enteritis, and to investigate if there is association between the total count of leukocytes, the leukogram and the prognostic in this illness (survival vs. death). In an observational retrospective study, in 191 dogs with clinical diagnosis of canine parvoviral enteritis confirmed with ELISA, the hemogram was obtained at the day of presentation. The animals were divided in 4 groups according with the total count of leucocytes: group 1 with severe leukopenia (<1x103/μl), group 2 with moderate leukopenia (1,1 a 2,5x103/μl), group 3 with mild leukopenia (2,6 a 6,0 x103/μl) and, group 4 with normal values or leukocytosis (>6 x103/μl). The difference between the proportions of death and survival was analysed with the Fisher’s exact test, and the comparison between the variables in the death and survival groups used the Student-t and the Mann-Whitney U - Wilcoxon W tests (when the first was not applicable), using the SPSS 16.0 software. The results showed that 36,6% of the studied animals where females (n=70/191) and 63,4% males (n=121/191). The higher frequency of cases occurred from 2 to 6 months of age (69,1%, n=149/191), in the months of July to November (72,7%, n=139/191) and, in animals of undetermined breed (34,6%, n=66/191). The animals presented 28 different breeds, being the most representatives Rottweillers 10,5% (n=20/191), Toy Poodle 6,8% (n=13/191), Boxer 4,7% (n=9/191), Labrador Retriever 4,7% (n=9/191), Siberian Husky 4,2% (n=8/191) and Serra da Estrela 4,2% (n=8/191). Considering the leukogram and its prognostic value in parvoviral enteritis, the results showed a significant difference between the death and survival groups in the total count of leucocytes (p=0,003), in the absolute number of lymphocytes (p=0,013) and eosinophiles (p=0,037). The Fisher’s exact test showed extremely significant differences (p<0,001) between the proportions of death in the 4 groups of leukocyte values. In the group with severe leukopenia 60% (n=6/10) died and in the group with moderate leukopenia 83,3% (n=9/54) died. From the dogs with mild leukopenia 76,9% (n=20/26) survived and, from the group of animals that presented normal values or leukocytosis 92,1% (n=93/101) survived. The results obtained allow the conclusion that an evaluation of the total count of leukocytes can contribute as a prognostic factor in dogs with parvoviral enteritis. Patients with severe to moderate leukopenia present higher mortality when compared with dogs with normal values or leukocytosis.

Abstract:
The recent technological development within information technology has affected the structure of organisations and the organisation of work. In health care, and for several reasons, the need for communication audits has thus been highlighted. Patient safety may be risked by mistakes linked to deficiencies in information transfer. Often are hierarchical structures, unclear roles and gaps in information flows suggested causes. On the other hand, the health care sector often is considered as one of society's most complex knowledge organizations, characterized by intense information flows with traits linked to strong professions. Communication audits are accomplished with the objective to identify causes of ineffective communication, lack of explicit communication processes, to suggest improvements and provide management and staff with more objective descriptions of roles and links. The research field has for a while been dominated by large-‐scale surveys and resent studies has pointed at the need for studies of daily communication environments at site of organizations. This is such a study, carried through at a department for inpatient care at the University Hospital Karolinska, located in Huddinge, Stockholm. In 2012, the studied department relocated into new facilities and completed a small restructuring of its organization, affecting roles and channels of communication. The perception of the new organization was inefficiency, both in time and difficulties to overview the structure. The purpose of this thesis has therefore been to discuss and highlight how to clarify formal structure of the internal communication among staff based on parameters such as roles and channels of communication. The study maps today's formal structure, which is the expected exchange of information as described in job descriptions and work policies and compares this with developed informal structures based on how employees prefer to exchange information. A mix of data collection methods is used. An analysis is conducted were the organization's communication network as perceived as exchange of information between the employees is visualised. The results showed differences between the formal structure and the informal structure that could be used to highlight aspects of how the identified differences could be used to clarify the formal structure. The aim of the current study was to verify the involvement of hemoparasites in finding thrombocytopenia in dogs from the city of Goiânia treated at the Veterinary Hospital of Federal University of Goiás (HV/EV/UFG). For this study, 300 animals were selected and divided into two groups:one group with 150 animals with thrombocytopenia (< 200.000 platelets/mm3)and another one with 150 non-thrombocytopenic animals (≥ 200.000 platelets/mm3). Blood samples with EDTA were collected in the two groups for total DNA extraction. All DNA eluates were tested by PCR for specific detection of Ehrlichia canis, Anaplasma canis,Hepatozoon canis, Mycoplasma haemocanis, Babesia canis vogeli, Babesia gibsoni and Theileria equi. The frequency of positive samples within the group of thrombocytopenic animals was 71.3% (107/150) to E. canis, 8.7% (13/150) for A. platys, 9.3% for B. c. vogeli (14/150), 2.0% (3/150) for H. canis and 3.3% (5/150)for M. haemocanis. In the group of non-thrombocytopenic animals the frequency of positives was 14% (21/150) for E. canis, 3.3% (5/150) for A. platys, 0.7% (1/150) for B. c. Vogeli, 4.0% (6/150) for H. canis and 1.3% (2/150) for M.haemocanis. Babesia gibsoni and Theileria equi were not detected using PCR assays.Statisti cally significant associations between thrombocytopenia and infections by hemoparasites were only observed for E. canis (P <0.05) and B. c.vogeli (P <0.05). The most frequently hemoparasitosis was Canine Monocitic Erliquiosis, which occurred in 71,33% (107/150) within thrombocytopenic dogs group and in 14% (21/150) within non-thrombocytopenic dogs group. There was a relationship between the thrombocytopenia degree observed and the infection by E. canis. Values of severe thrombocytopenia (<50.000 platelets/mm3 blood) can be considered an indicator for infection of E. canis.

Abstract:
The chapter discusses cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) in pregnancy. The signs and symptoms of the patient depend on which venous sinus is clotted. The clinical features may include headache, bilateral symptoms, hemorrhagic stroke, and seizures. The headaches are related to elevated intracranial pressure and can mimic those of idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Hematological changes that occur in pregnancy result in a hypercoagulable state; this normal physiology can predispose in certain situations to CVT. Other factors associated with an increase in the risk of clotting include infection, fluid loss, inactivity, and C-section. CVT is treated with anticoagulation, whereas seizures and other complications are managed symptomatically. The length of anticoagulation depends on whether additional clotting abnormalities are discovered. Anticoagulation is recommended for future pregnancies.

Abstract:
AbstractAn overexpression of CXCR4 receptors is reported in at least 30 different human solid tumors and hematological malignancies. This overexpression is often associated with tumor aggressiveness, increased risk of metastasis, and a higher probability of recurrence, which in turn leads to a poor prognosis. No in vivo method suitable for whole-body CXCR4 disease quantification has been described and this unmet clinical need or the scientific question has been reported recently. 68Ga-Pentixafor which is a CXCR4 targeting high-affinity PET imaging probe and the tracer has been evaluated in multiple myeloma, lymphoproliferative disorders, and in lung carcinoma, and the imaging results are extremely promising. Human dosimetry studies demonstrated excellent pharmacokinetics and low radiation burden to patients. The clinical applications of 68Ga-Pentixafor/177Lu/213Bi-Pentixather as a “theranostics pair” for the diagnosis and treatment of CXCR4-expressing cancers are emerging. CXCR4-based theranostics, which had not been investigated in clinical practice till now (except few preliminary proof-of-concept studies), may be a potential game changer both in the diagnosis and treatment of CXCR4 overexpressing solid tumors and hematological malignancies in which all other available treatment options have eventually failed.

Abstract:
When dogs are invaded with Babesia, metabolic and detoxification processes are disrupted. In this regard, the therapeutic regimen should include drugs that contribute to the normalization of metabolism, and maintenance of liver and kidney function. The purpose of our research was to study the effects of Аminotone on the hematological and biochemical status of dogs during the treatment of babesiosis. For this purpose, Forticarb was administered as an etiological agent to the animals of the control group, and Аminotone was additionally administered to the experimental dogs. Before the experiment and two weeks after the beginning of the treatment, blood was taken from the dogs for hematological and biochemical studies. It was found that the control and experimental animals showed a decrease in leukocytes, ESR, ALT and AST activity, urea, and creatinine and bilirubin concentrations after the recovery. At the same time, an increase in erythrocytes, hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume and hemoglobin was recorded. Аminotone provided more intensive changes in the dogs’ biochemical and hematological status: reduced inflammatory reaction, toxic load on the liver and kidneys, and stimulated hematopoiesis, versus the control. Thus, the drug can be recommended for the combined therapy of canine babesiosis.

Abstract:
The aim research was to established specific clinical symptoms and changes of hematological and biochemical indices in the experimental bovine sarcocistoza. The results of the tests show that the experimental infestation of calves with Sarcocystis bovicanis sporocysts in dose of 200-250 thousands, disease manifests clinically but more pronounced is on the 25-30 days after infestation, which coincides with the development of schizogonic stages when appearing massively schizonts. On the 64th day (observation period), the condition of the animals improves, which corresponds to the step of introducing the sporochysts into the muscles. Have been established three periods of body temperature increase at the calves: on 5-7, 15-17 and 25-30th days after experimental infestation. At the infected calves have been identified changes in hematological and biochemical indices in blood. From the first days after infestation, a decrease in serum total proteins has been established, hypoalbuminemia - albumin content on the 30th day after infection is reduced with 27.7% compared to baseline (until infestation). The activity of alkaline phosphatase and aldolase increases about 2-times, and aspartataminotransferaza and alanine aminotransferase by- 2-3 times.
