Abstract Symplocos racemosa Roxb., belonging to the family Symplocaceae, is an important medicinal plant. Chemometric profile of chloroform, methanol and ethanol leaf extracts of S. racemosa were performed by hyphenated gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) technique. Chemometric profile of leaf extracts revealed the presence of 57 phyto-chemotypes, among them, Erucylamide (15.94%), Vitamin E (8.26%), 10-Heneicosene (8.97%), n-Hexadecanoic acid (5.21%), 1-Heneicosyl formate (5.11%), Tetracosanol (5.36%), 2,4-Hexanedione, 5,5-dimethyl- (11.94%), Linoleic acid (19.30%), Dibutyl phthalate

Orchidaceae is a flowering plant family worldwide distributed known for producing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which can act as olfactory signals for pollinators. Despite the importance of VOCs in the different reproductive strategies, in the literature there are only a few publications on the characterization of orchids’ volatile profiles. In this study, the essential oils from fresh inflorescences of sympatric orchids Anacamptis morio, Himantoglossum robertianum, Ophrys sphegodes and Orchis purpurea, naturally growing in Piedmont (Italy) were isolated by steam distillation and character

This study aimed to evaluate the herbicidal activity of ethyl acetate leaf extract of Ageratum conyzoides L. at different subfractions on Amaranthus spinosus L. The leaves of A. conyzoides were sequentially extracted with n-hexane and ethyl acetate respectively and fractionated by chromatography column. The extracts were applied to A. spinosus in pot assays at a concentration of 5%, 10% and 15%. We applied A synthetic herbicide (2,4-D at 0.686 kg a.i. ha−1) for positive control and distilled water for negative control. Cycloaddition of 19 with cyclopentadiene and dienone 12 produced a mixture of 21a/21b and 23a respectively. Structural analysis of these compounds showed that the Diels-Alder reaction of 19 gives highly π-facial selectivity. A naturally occurring hydrocarbon 3-methyl-Heinecosane was isolated from the petroleum ether extract of the dry plant Mesosphaerum suaveolens (Lanchak) and was characterised by UV-Visible Spectroscopy, Fourier transforms infra red (FT-IR) spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and GC-Mass spectroscopy. The fragmentation ions with their m/z of compound 1, 3-methyl-Heineicosane were studied and all of the relative abundance found in the GC-MS spectra is in agreement.
