Abstract:
Grundtvig TodayThe Land of the Living, 1984. Edited by Flemming Ettrup and Johannes H. Christensen.Reviewed by William MichelsenThe main content of this book is a series of lectures given at Skovshoved Church in Copenhagen in 1983. It is published by the Danish Library Society and contains important contributions to the current debate on Grundtvig. This is particularly true of the three lectures by the three professors, Christian Thodberg, Leif Grane and Aage Henriksen. Thodberg discovers the background for the poem The Land of the Living in Grundtvig’s sermons and biblical poetry. Leif Grane applies a present-day theological point of view to defend Grundtvig’s standpoint in The Church’s Retort (Kirkens Gienm.le), while Aage Henriksen maintains that Grundtvig himself cannot be bounded by the world of ideas represented by the Church. He is answered by Ejvind Larsen, and adds a “preliminary” reply himself. The reviewer points out that Aage Henriksen’s lecture was also given in a Danish church, and that the Danish Church is more open than most, thanks not least to Grundtvig’s great contribution to Church freedom from 1832 onwards. His greatness lies in the fact that at one and the same time he maintained the sharp distinction between Christianity and non-Christianity and the right for people of a different persuasion to speak with the same freedom as he himself and every other Christian.

Abstract:
The Caledonides of East Greenland contain the best exposures of Upper Riphean to Ordovician sediments in the Arctic - North Atlantic region. At its thickest the sequence contains 13 km of Eleonore Bay Group clastic sediments and carbonates, the 0.8 km thick Tillite Group and 3 km of Cambro-Ordovician strata (Henriksen & Higgins, 1976; Henriksen, 1985). These sediments crop out in a belt stretching for nearly 300 km through the fjord region, between 71° 38' and 74° 25'N. Those in the northern part of the region, between Brogetdal in Strindberg Land and southern Payer Land, and especiaIly Albert Heim Bjerge and C. H. Ostenfeld Nunatak, were the subject of investigation during 1988 (figs 1, 2).

Abstract:
This work follows on the papers by Henriksen, Bridle and Chan (1982) (HB) and by Eilek and Henriksen (1983). These papers introduced a comprehensive model of (hydrodynamic) turbulence driven Alfven wave, resonant, particle acceleration. Very similar ideas were introduced independently by Fedorenko (1980), but the details were sketchy and the universality of the resulting spectral index was not realized. Eichler (1979) has come closest to these ideas previously (again independently) in a very original paper directed at ion acceleration in solar flares. He includes a back reaction on the turbulent eddies however which requires an adhoc treatment and is probably unnecessary (we replace this by the Lighthill noise analysis: HBC) and he omits synchrotron and adiabatic losses. Moreover, the quasi-linear theory is not used in calculating the distribution function. Nevertheless, it is reassuring that the same intuitive physics, even to the self-similar universality, should arise independently.

Abstract:
Hans Ussing was born on 30 December 1911 at Sorø Academy in Denmark, where his father Dr Henrik Ussing was a lecturer and, as historian, a leading Danish folklorist. After his doctoral thesis in marine biology, Hans Ussing came to August Krogh's laboratory, where he studied protein turnover by using deuterium-labelled amino acids. After World War II, when radioactive isotopes of light elements became available for biological research, Ussing pioneered the development of epithelial physiology by introducing new concepts and theoretical tools, such as unidirectional fluxes, exchange diffusion, the flux-ratio equation, the shortcircuiting technique, solvent drag, anomalous solvent drag and the pre-steady-state flux ratio theorem. In studies on frog skin, combining electrophysiology and radioactive tracer technology, he provided the first unambiguous demonstration of active transport of sodium ions. His two-membrane hypothesis of active transport by frog skin initiated studies of epithelial transport at the cellular level in other organs and of the mechanisms of action of hormones and drugs. His discovery of paracellular ion transports bridged the physiology of high-resistance and low-resistance epithelia. With the Na + recirculation theory of isotonic transport he continued his studies of epithelial physiology until shortly before his death. Ussing's scientific research provided analytical methods and new insights of general applicability for the study of absorbing and secreting epithelia—of equal importance to biology and medicine. Hans Ussing died on 22 December 2000 after a short illness.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore family business, leadership development, family dynamics, succession, and governance. It is appropriate for undergraduate and graduate family business and leadership courses; and to facilitate dialogue among members of family enterprises to introduce the need to address family dynamics and leadership issues. Design/methodology/approach – This case blends issues arising out of several family firms known to the author. Events, people, details, and location have been merged and adapted into this one case. The case method is used for the purposes of identifying key issues and provoking discussion on areas critical to multi-generational family enterprises. Findings – The case study method allows readers to explore and dialogue possible options for dealing with issues of unexpected family business leadership transition. Practical implications – Every family enterprise generation has unique challenges and opportunities. This case facilitates discussion that helps explore leadership succession issues and leadership development. For family business members, it is vehicle for neutral exploration of possible issues in their own organizations. Originality/value – This is an original case study based on the blending of issues and adaptation from several family firms.

Abstract:
The field programme in the Ivigtut-Kobberminebugt region is a continuation of the investigation of gold occurrences in the Tartoq Group greenstones, just north of the present area (Appel & Secher, 1984; Appel, 1984). The region was mapped by GGU in the late 1950s and early 1960s (Henriksen, 1969; Berthelsen & Henriksen 1975; Harry & Pulvertaft, 1963). The Tartoq and the Ketilidian supracrustal belts were described (Allaart, 1976; Bridgwater et al., 1976); they form regional curved structures around the Arsuk Basin. The major part of the supracrustal sequences south of the Tartoq Group units is expected to be of Ketilidian (Proterozoic) age and deformation. However, some layers in the Nunarssuit peninsula in the southernmost part of the region are undated and might be older (Bridgwater et al., 1973; Appel & Secher, 1984). The investigation was focussed on the supracrustal sequence between Arsuk Fjord and Nunarssuit (fig. 1), with special emphasis on the areas neighbouring the known gold showings at Josva Mine (worked 1910-15) where discrete grains of electrum and gold in the bornite ore were reported by Harry & Den (1964). In the Kînâlik peninsula a skarn boulder with a few grains of gold included in cha1copyrite has been reported by Kryolitselskabet Øresund A/S (Nielsen, 1976). The work was based on reconnaissance rock sampling of lithologies and mineral showings within the supracrustal sequences, with particular attention given to transitions between sedimentary and vo1canic suites and to structural breaks in order to locate potential sources of noble metals.

Abstract:
Larsen, Nansen, Grönvold, Wolstrup and Henriksen (1997) have previously reviewed the prospects of control of equine nematodes by using fungal cultures. Since then more investigations have been implemented and actualized. Field trials and laboratory tests have been reported with new perspectives and increasing number of animals in trials. The aim of this new review of literature is to add new knowledge to those questions that remained open in the 1990s. In particular, on the perspective of veterinary practitioner and sustainable use of deworming practices it is important to know those directions which should be followed.

Abstract:
The presence of the cosmical constant introduces a fundamental scale and prevents there being any simple self-symmetry. Henriksen, Emslie and Wesson (HEW), who studied spherically-symmetric models with a positive cosmical constant, have, however, demonstrated the possible existence of a self-similarity of the second kind and identified the similarity variable. They obtained interesting analytic solutions which are homogeneous in density, but not in pressure. We have extended this work and investigated the general behaviour of these cosmological models which possess a self-similarity of the second kind and in which the requirement of homogeneity is relaxed.

Abstract:
Abstract. We model absorption by atmospheric water vapour of hydroxyl airglow emission using the HIgh-resolution TRANsmission molecular absorption database (HITRAN2012). Transmission coefficients are provided as a function of water vapour column density for the strongest OH Meinel emission lines in the (8–3), (5–1), (9–4), (8–4), and (6–2) vibrational bands. These coefficients are used to determine precise OH(8–3) rotational temperatures from spectra measured by the High Throughput Imaging Echelle Spectrograph (HiTIES), installed at the Kjell Henriksen Observatory (KHO), Svalbard. The method described in this paper also allows us to estimate atmospheric water vapour content using the HiTIES instrument.
