Patients with end stage renal disease require haemodialysis as a part of theirtreatment. The incidence of hepatitis B and C virus infection is quite high in patients undergoingmaintenance haemodialysis than in general population. This risk is specifically associatedwith use of blood and its products as well as repeated intravascular access in these patients. Objectives: To determine the seropositivity of hepatitis B and C virus infection in patientsreceiving haemodialysis. Abstract:
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) co-infection can be encountered in either virus endemic countries. Co-infection can also be found in populations at risk of parenteral transmission. Previous studies demonstrated a high risk of liver disease progression in patients with HCV/HBV co-infection; thus, they should be treated aggressively. Previous evidence recommended therapy combining peginterferon (pegIFN) alfa and ribavirin for co-infected patients with positive HCV RNA. Recent trials further advise using direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) for the clearance of HCV in the co-infect

Although Australian epidemiology of HBV and HCV has been well described for populations groups at higher risk, but the information available for groups generally considered to be lower risk is much more limited. An understanding of the prevalence of these infections and their risk factors in antenatal women is important to guide testing policy and practice. A study was therefore conducted of the epidemiology of hepatitis B and hepatitis C infection in women. In addition, women were asked about their experience with antenatal testing. The aim of the study was to analyze infected human antibody response to peptides reproducing B-cell epitopes of HCV envelope proteins to assess their possible association with virus elimination. The synthesis of peptides was carried out by the solid phase method. According to the results of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, it was found that the presence of antibodies to one of the analyzed peptides was associated with achieving a sustained virological response.

Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a common worldwide blood-borne pathogen. WHO estimates that 254 million people were living with chronic hepatitis B infection in 2022, with 1.2 million new infections each year. In 2022, hepatitis B resulted in an estimated 1.1 million deaths, mostly from cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (primary liver cancer). Hepatitis B can be prevented by vaccines that are safe, available and effective. Chronic hepatitis B can progress to an inactive carrier state, and then, in some patients, give rise to cirrhosis and cancer of the liver, leading to death. An H

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major public health problem, with more than 400 million HBV carriers estimated worldwide. Chronic HBV infection is associated with a diverse clinical spectrum of liver damage ranging from asymptomatic carrier status, chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). There have been increasing lines of evidence to indicate influences of HBV genotypes and mutations on the outcome of liver disease, particularly the development of HCC.
