ABSTRACTThe next centenary celebration of the poetry book publication, Los heraldos negros, (‘The Black Heralds’, 1919) is coming and this is why descriptions and commentaries of the main arguments have been proposed on the collection of Vallejo’s poems. This approach combines texts’ comment, analysis and interpretive synthesis. Keywords: Cesar Vallejo, Los heraldos negros (‘The Black Heralds’), Peruvian poetry, critical historiography, critical reception.

Abstract:
11QMelch identifies several eschatological figures in Isa 52:7: prophets, a first and second herald, the community, and (probably) Melchizedek. The heralds are differentiated from one another, something that has been largely overlooked in discussions of 11QMelch. They are also differentiated from the “mountains”/“prophets,” another significant point that is rarely emphasized. That the first herald is a Davidic Messiah is suggested by the author’s apparent quote from the “seventy weeks” prophecy in Dan 9:24–27, a passage that was often used to calculate the advent of the Davidic Messiah. If the lacuna in line 18 contained a clause from Dan 9:25 this would provide further support for interpreting the first herald as the Davidic Messiah since this verse refers to “the prince Messiah.” Moreover, in the history of interpretation, Isa 52:7 was understood, at least by some Christians and Jews, as referring to the Davidic Messiah. Hence, there are grounds for seeing the first herald not as an angel or a Prophet-Messiah but as a royal Messiah. Melchizedek – who goes by the aliases “the Prince of lights” and “Michael” in other works – is distinguished from the two heralds. He is not a Messiah but a chief patron angel who fights on behalf of the sons of light against Belial in the great eschatological war. The second herald is described as a teacher and may therefore be the “Messiah of Aaron”/“Interpreter of the Law” found in other sectarian works. The interpretation proposed in this article allows for parallels to be drawn between 11QMelch and other sectarian works. Against what is commonly supposed, 11QMelch does not seem to reflect a form of messianism that is notably distinctive but one that conforms to the diarchic messianism found in other sectarian writings.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThis paper reflects on the sense (not only the meaning) in the first book of Cesar Vallejo: Los heraldos negros (‘The Black Heralds’). As starting point, it is considered the notion of signature presented by Michel Foucault not as absence but zero-degree signature. From this perspective, we concentrate on the book’s poem title, incipit, and on the poem «Espergesia», excipit, using the investigation not only for the opening and closing of the book of poems, but also and above all, to represent the most emblematic semiological places of the book, to be able to ask about knowledge and the based tension between I know and I don’t know, a couple which stresses episteme as well as the forms of colloquial language. Thus, this paper tries to also respond through the knowing/not knowing pair, Vallejo’s critical conflict between Christianity and Marxism. Keywords: Vallejo, paper, sense, poetry, Los heraldos negros (‘The Black Heralds’), Christianity, Marxism.

Abstract:
Abstract The approaches that have been made to César Vallejo’s first collection of poems, published 100 years ago, have suggested, developed and deepened the presence of diverse themes, including romantic-loving allusions, family images and nationalist sentiment due to the presence of elements of indigenous culture. However, there are still some issues to be developed, one of them is migration. In this sense, this lecture will focus its attention on the analysis of the issue of migration in Los heraldos negros (The Black Heralds). I maintain that there are several poems in which this figure appears, either as an announcement of the journey or departure, or as an allusion to the nostalgic memory of the place of origin that has been left behind to move from one space to another. To understand the expression of this theme more accurately, some references to other texts of Vallejo, where he expresses this feeling, will also be used: letters, poems from Trilce and some of the posthumous poems. Keywords: César Vallejo, The Black Heralds; migration; Peruvian poetry.

Abstract:
Abstract César Vallejo, with his poetic work Los heraldos negros (The Black Heralds), marks a new direction in Latin American literature that until then had been influenced by the ancestry of Symbolists and Parnasians, besides the influence of Walt Whitman’s colloquialism and Rubén Darío’s modernist style. However, since his first book, the intention of accessing a localist vision has been noted and, therefore, the symbology of French origin coming from Gallic writers is displaced by Andean elements close to the author. The Vallejian syncretism proposes from the very beginning to unite several cultures: The European influence of the predominant modernism, the echoes of a nearby indigenism and the miscegenation that was proper to him as part of a continent that looked for a voice that represented him. The aim of this article is to analyse the literary proposals put forward in one of the most important works of human thought, as well as the contextual and biographical links that led to their publication. Keywords: César Vallejo; Walt Whitman; Rubén Darío; The black heralds; simbolism; modernism; indigenism; miscegenation.

Abstract:
Popes wrote about the Holy Spirit at various times in the history of the Church, also at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The reflections bring us closer to the teaching on the Holy Spirit by Leo XIII (1810-1903), St. Pius X (1835-1914), Benedict XV (1854-1922). These popes ushered in a „new era“ of the Holy Spirit. Their successors: Pius XI (1857-1939), Pius XII (1876-1958), St. John XXIII (1881-1963) were described as heralds of a “new Pentecost”. Such a formula is extremely interesting, if only because of at least two a priori assumptions, namely that something like a “new Pentecost” does exist and that the popes mentioned were its heralds two a priori assumptions, namely that something like a “new Pentecost” does exist and that the popes mentioned were its, whatever it was, heralds. This study focused only on some of the aforementioned aspects.

Abstract:
In historiographical research, there is an approach that perceives the ideologues who preceded the Hovevei Zion movement (1881) and the Zionist movement (1896) as “heralds of Zionism”. These ideologues operated, or at least proposed the idea of the Jews’ return to the Land of Israel and establishment a political entity in the Land, beginning from the 1860s. The researchers are divided, however, on the identification of the heralds. Some locate them even earlier, in the 17th century, while others deny their very existence. This article wishes to claim that the heralds of Zionism were Orthodox rabbis, such as R. Kalisher, R. Alkalai, R. Friedland, R. Guttmacher, R. Bibas, and R. Natonek, who operated in the early half of the 19th century and transformed the Jewish theology that advocated a passive-spiritual-Divine redemption into an active-practical-natural redemption. For this purpose, it is necessary to immigrate to the Land of Israel and cultivate the land. They contended that once the People of Israel would do so, the redemption would arrive.

Abstract:
The fourth edition of Britannia (1594) contained a marked increase in the representation of the propertied classes. The names of landowners, new families as well as old, were increased by approximately three hundred over the third edition of 1590. The fourth edition also contained a new index — “Barones et lllustriores Familiae” — which, together with the new names, registered first Camden's awareness of the changing character of Elizabethan society and second his qualifications as heraldic historian. The significance of this is not entirely clear until it is seen that the changes in Britannia came at a time of controversy and declining esteem in the College of Arms. Camden's authority in heraldry, of which the 1594 Britannia provided convincing evidence, together with his association with the advocates of armorial reform (Fulke Greville, Sir Edward Hoby, and Baron Burghley as well as the queen) made him a logical choice, over Ralph Brooke, for elevation to Clarenceux King of Arms in October 1597. Brooke's quarrel with Camden was part and parcel of the College's troubles and was seen at the time as an instance of the jealous animosity for which Brooke was notorious. One of the ironies of Brooke's attack is that it was symptomatic of the conditions — rivalries and jurisdictional disputes among the heralds, for instance — that advocates of reform were attempting to remedy.
