Abstract:
Mekah I'm Coming is a comedy film. This film shows the drama of love and the conflict of hajj travel fraud. The comedy in this film seems exaggerated. The purpose of this study is to describe the journey of Heroism in the development of the main character. It is based on 12 structures of the hero's journey and analyzes the story's comedy techniques. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. The data collection scheme used in this study is to watch the movie "Mekah I'm Coming". Furthermore, it is studied based on the 12 structures of heroes' journeys. Then determine the humor in the film. The analysis uses Arthur Asa Berger's comedy technique with four basic categories: language, logic, identity, and action. The study results show that the hero's journey contains the story of the main character, Eddy, who directs his adventures in pursuing love. The storytelling of the Mekah I'm Coming film uses comedy techniques in the language category, followed by logic, identity, and action. The comedy technique in this film does not only serve as the packaging of humor. But also as an introduction to character characteristics, building conflicts, and messengers to display social life problems that occur in society.

Abstract:
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown into one of the most popular entertainment franchises since its debut film in 2008. Even with competition rising in the superhero film industry, the MCU continues to stand out due to its unique and intricate depiction of the hero’s journey. The three foundational heroes of the MCU (Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor) illustrate how toxic expressions of masculinity create borders to their emotional development and character growth, borders that they must overcome along the hero’s journey. In his first film, Iron Man, Tony Stark begins to reevaluate the path that his father laid out for him when he undergoes a major moral transformation that makes him realize the violent impact of weapons manufacturing at Stark Industries. By becoming Iron Man, Tony makes a commitment to bettering himself and serving as a protector, but his insecurities continue to manifest into his public image as hero until his final appearance in Avengers: Endgame. Captain America, though not the most obvious depiction of toxic masculinity, struggles with the same identity issues as Tony Stark. From his first film, Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve Rodgers battles with insecurities that stem from always having been the “little guy.” Steve constantly starts fights that he cannot win to stand up for others, and repeatedly enlists to the WWII draft despite being rejected due to poor health every time. His desperation to fulfill the hero role separates him from his only love, Peggy Carter, by an uncrossable border, time, until he gives these toxic traits up to return to her in Avengers: Endgame. Thor also struggles to fill his father’s shoes as the king and protector of his home world, Asgard. His need to be seen as a hero and fierce warrior make him impulsive and quick to violence, which puts his kingdom at risk and bases his self-esteem on this image of himself. Though Thor’s arc isn’t finished yet, Avengers: Endgame illustrates his coping with his failure to fulfill this image as he rebuilds his self-esteem into his own identity. These three heroes demonstrate how toxic masculinity creates borders to their personal growth and progression along the hero's journey.

Abstract:
This paper discusses the character development of Siddhartha, the main character in Herman Hesse’s novel, Siddhartha (1973). This research aims to study how Siddhartha’s character develops during his journey to reach enlightenment. The analysis is conducted by using the theory of the hero's journey by Joseph Campbell. The result shows that Siddhartha’s journey follows twelve out of seventeen stages of the hero’s journey proposed by Campbell. All of the stages appear in the same order except the stage Belly of The Whale that comes late. It functions as a turning point rather than a preparation for a greater ordeal. The analysis also shows that Siddhartha undergoes two major changes; from an individualistic to a wise person and from someone who is always persistent and thirsty for knowledge to someone who is flexible.

Abstract:
One of the reasons for modern man's mental disorders is a spiritual crisis. In American Gods, Neil Gaiman ridicules this condition by reviving religious, folklore, and mythological entities into new contexts. These entities, however, are simplified as merely intertextual references by most studies. In fact, the new contexts are pragmatically intended to parody American modernity in leading modern man to a spiritual crisis. This research, thus, aims to be a descriptive-analytical study that not only interprets such references through intertextual analysis but also uses pragmatic analysis to examine how the novel parodically portrays modern man's spiritual journey. Deploying Linda Hutcheon's Interpretation of Parody, the Intertextual analysis results that these mythological characters are resituated to represent marginal communities, like ex-convicts, fugitives, drifters, gangsters, immigrants, homeless, laborers, prostitutes, and relocators. While applying Jung's interpretation of the relationship between mythological archetypes and psychological traits, the pragmatic analysis suggests that the hero archetype has been reimagined to caricature modern man's spiritual journey in reconciling his conscious desire with unconscious competencies that resulting disorders in his mental. The factors that influence the hero's mental stability are manifested through the trickster characters in deceiving the hero's consciousness with secular realities, while the sage characters reinforce the hero's unconsciousness through some spiritual journeys.

Abstract:
Abstract This article proposes a framework for service storytelling by analyzing its key elements with Aristotle's Poetics and synthesizing them using the temporal structure of Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey. Poetics refer to the art of making that is concerned with the general pattern of human experience. We use this framework to study the four causes of storytelling: material cause, efficient cause, formal cause, and end cause. The Hero's Journey is a cyclical model that encompasses both an ordinary and a special world. We utilize this model to synthesize the four causes into a phasic flow, including deficiency, growth, personalization, and transformation.

Abstract:
(Title: Representation of Hero’s Journey on Main Character Chihiro in Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away Anime) This paper is the result of a qualitative descriptive type of literature study. The purpose of this study was to reveal the heroic journey process of main character of Spirited Away anime named Chihiro, based on the Hero’s Journey theory proposed by Vogler. Data about Chihiro's heroic journey are obtained from anime with note taking techniques. The method used in the analysis is the method of content analysis based on the theory of Hero's Journey. From the results of the analysis, it can be seen that the main character Chihiro has undergone a total of the twelve stages of the hero’s journey. Chihiro's adventure has succeeded in changing her personality which was initially timid, spoiled, and whiny to be brave, independent, calm and confident, and full of compassion. Chihiro's heroic journey proves the true definition of a hero according to Vogler, while also proving that to win a fight does not always use physical strength. There are times when thinking intelligence and emotional intelligence are much more needed. In addition, this anime also features a lot of kamisama which was once believed by the Japanese. Miyazaki might want to remind again about the existence of Japanese gods by displaying them in this anime, either those actually found in Japanese mythology or Miyazaki's own creations. Thus, the story of Spirited Away which has a mythical structure as stated by Vogler becomes much more alive and interesting.

Abstract:
It is known that content based on mythological structure can appeal to the common sense of taste of the reader and the audience. Joseph Campbell explains this situation through the Hero's Journey paradigm; explains the mythic fiction through the stages of departure, initiation and return. He explains that the narratives we read, watch or encounter are always “the same” story, within the framework of the concept of journey he proposes. This journey can be the physical transformation of the hero, as well as an initiation metaphor, which usually has psychological foundations. The movie Yol Ayrımı, written and directed by Yavuz Turgul, is a movie where we can see the initiation of the hero Campbell mentioned. In this study, the movie Yol Ayrımı will be read through the Hero's Journey paradigm, and the aspects that fit and depart from the cycle will be evaluated through the transformation of the leading role Mazhar Bey (Şener Şen) in the movie. In the research, which will be carried out using the qualitative analysis technique, the content analysis of the relevant movie will be carried out by using the content analysis method.

Abstract:
Marginalized and queer heroes are being recognized in the resurgence of various types of characters in contemporary hero narratives. In challenging the normative conventions, there are heroic values in the ambiguous presentation of their character which are revived and valorized based on the heroic archetypes presented in the story. Given this, how do we reconcile the normative conventions of hero attributed to queer and deviant representation of his character and heroic deeds? This paper analyzes the contemporary work of Segundo Matias' Moymoy Lulumboy: Ang Batang Aswang. Patterned from Joseph Campbell's normative structure of hero's journey, which models the representation of various nature of character heroes and their established heroic archetypes, this study revealed that a category of heroic deviant exists in portraying character hero in the revival of Aswang lore in contemporary urban legend. Furthermore, this paper affirms that the resurrection of the archetypal pattern and the marginal presentation of the hero and his journey present a re-inscripted image of Aswang from a "rigidly static" to a semi-heroic ascension.

The present research consists of implementing, through the learning experience design framework, a model that allows design students to connect the past with the present and the future of the profession. The process includes understanding the dimensions of the design of a historical character related to the discipline, implementing the hero's journey to tell his story but also contextualizing it in a three-dimensional environment in Minecraft. The video game allows them to express abstract elements in concrete through a three-dimensional representation that provides a user experience where you can also learn about these outstanding characters of the discipline.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to describe an innovative senior-level leadership development programme in housing association, East Thames Group, which was designed to build the capabilities needed to lead the organisation through a transformation in its culture and working practices. The programme engaged leaders in navigating and shaping culture change in East Thames and in so doing significantly enhanced their capacity for self-awareness, decision making and collaboration. Design/methodology/approach – The paper presents a descriptive narrative of the leadership development process from its inception in November 2011, through the experience of two cohorts comprising 40 senior managers during 2012, to the formal conclusion of the process in January 2013. The narrative employs a modified version of the hero's journey to describe the process of individual and organisational development during this period. Findings – The paper proposes an effective alternative to prescriptive, competency-based, leadership programmes which is grounded instead in a problem-solving approach where capacity-building results from participants acting on “wicked” organisational problems and learning by leading. Research limitations/implications – Learning by leading is a flexible, highly contextualised alternative to programmatic approaches to leadership development. The challenges faced by East Thames will be familiar to leaders in both public and private sectors. This methodology is relevant wherever the strategic goal is a dual transformation in organisation performance and leadership capacity. Practical implications – The paper includes a model of leadership development based on five stages of the hero's journey. These design principles translate into a structure – a container – where leaders can think, act and learn together in order to decide how and where to intervene in their situation to make a difference. Originality/value – The paper presents a rare longitudinal description of a senior level leadership development process which used a complex organisational problem as a vehicle for both leadership agency and leadership learning.

Abstract:
The article examines the phenomenon of traveling «beyond the corporeality» of the characters of Haruki Murakami's novel Kafka on the Beach. Special attention is paid to the bodily transformations of the characters, going beyond the limits of physicality, as signs of the loss of personal identity. The article also compares the «bodily journeys» of the main character of the novel with the passage of the labyrinth, which also symbolizes the rite of initiation. The relevance of the research is due to the need to fill in the existing gaps in modern literary criticism on the problems of bodily metamorphoses considered in the designated context, as well as on the study of the creative heritage of H. Murakami in general. The novelty of the research is seen in the fact that the novel by H. Murakami, chosen as the object of research, is analyzed through the prism of the phenomenological theory of corporeality by V. Podorogi, special attention is paid to the concept of «the body outside the norm». The work also reflects the ideas about the physicality and identity of J. Baudrillard, F. Nietzsche, M. Yampolsky et al. It is proved that in the novel the phenomenon of the hero's journey inside his own body is both a sign of the loss of personal identity and a way of acquiring this identity.

Abstract:
This essay investigates the Arctic as an important, if unlikely, location for the formation of a British national and imperial masculinity in the early nineteenth century. Robert Southey's Life of Nelson (1813) established the national naval hero's heroic masculinity as Arctic in origin, revealing the utility of the Arctic in making British character legible. Perceived as unpopulated and "blank," Arctic geography stood in stark contrast to populated, torrid regions of the colonized tropics. The essay concludes with an examination of John Franklin's best-selling Narrative of a Journey to the Shores of the Polar Sea(1823). This account of hardship, imperiled bodies, and cannibalism in an uncertain geography would appear to contradict Southey's claims. Yet despite the expedition's failures, Franklin's narrative only augments public perception of the Arctic as a proving ground for a British masculinity uniquely suited to imperial projects.

Abstract:
This paper proposes the hero’s journey as a pathway to psychological creativity. The hero’s journey reveals, in story form, the efforts of a hero to resolve a significant problem following a change in life circumstances. This problem lies beyond the scope of the hero’s current understanding, skill set and experience. In order to address the problem, the hero therefore begins what Campbell refers to as ‘the creative act’ of ‘sticking one’s neck out’, undergoing a hero’s journey. Invariably the journey involves foreign trials, requiring the hero to tap into unknown inner potentials. Invariably trials become more complex, pushing the hero to move beyond their perceived limits. Eventually all heroes will experience at least two trials which either subjectively or literally, will seem like life and death challenges, signalling the death of no longer useful aspects of the self and the integration of their newfound potential. Transformed heroes are able to innovate and create in their everyday lives, providing an elixir for those around them.

Abstract:
This article analyzes the trilogy The War of the Witches by Maite Carranza, published between 2005 and 2007. The figure of the witch, traditionally considered an exponent of the monstrous feminine, has emerged as a popular figure in young adult fiction as a vehicle to address identity formation in what has been called “the teenage witch convention’. My analysis builds upon this concept and Joseph Campbell's theories about the hero's journey to explore the figure of the young witch as a space of mediation and hybridity that allows to articulate the concepts of heroine, cultural negotiation, and feminine power.

Abstract:
Kata Kunci : archetype, desain karakter, semiotika, sosiolinguistik AbstractAnimation media in this case acts as a medium of intercultural communication with a diverse target audience. With the right knowledge and reference studies, delivery through gestures will be successful both for local cultural audiences, mainstream culture or more generally, as well as for the global community. Therefore, it is necessary to have a study that can be used as a reference to help determine, not only physical characteristics but also the character’s gesture according to the archetype of the Hero's Journey Mononomyth story structure through comparison of local cultural references and western culture. Two case studies were taken, namely the musical animation “Meraih Mimpi” which raised the background of Javanese cultural life as one of Indonesia's unique cultures, and the musical animation “Frozen” by Disney Animation Studio. In this case, knowledge and studies related to sociolinguistics are needed in the analysis process which involves the two animated films. Then, it dissected using a visual semiotic approach by Ferdinand de Saussure which involves signifier and signified of each movement attached to the character archetypes to produce a framework of comparison between western and eastern cultures. The result is that several gestures that have the same sign on different archetypes produce different signifiers or signifieds depending on how the design and role of archetypes with cultural backgrounds are arranged in the story. Keywords : archetype, character design, semiotics, sosiolinguistic

Abstract:
This paper aims to provide a heroism mythological reflection on the journey of researchers. This study uses the qualitative case study to obtain the comprehension of researchers' metaphor journeys through Monomyth on their research experiences. The documentary analysis is used in this qualitative study with the reflexive narrative because the reflection on experience can help the reader to gain insight into the researcher and their approach during the journey. 15 researcher’s literacy narratives chosen in this study which consists of 8 published literacy narratives and 7 literacy narratives task from participants. Research itself often considered as a journey that extends the existing knowledge and also develops new knowledge of the researcher while wandering in the wilderness of knowledge. Along the way, the researchers with their literacy narratives in this study unconsciously have a similar mythical pattern story as like as the mythical heroes which Campbell (1949) term it as ‘Monomyth’ pattern. The result presented in this paper may facilitate the literate improvements in which to motivate, to help the novice researcher to understand their own hero’s journey and to educate them about the stages that they will experience such as their new transition of conducting their new research.
