This paper describes the sand procedure of the Hetman’s Court in the Crown Army at the time of the Great Turkish War (1683-1699). The Court has not been the subject of a separate study since the 1920s, whereas older studies relied on a very meagre source base. Meanwhile, there were availble Hetman’s registers (copies of documents issued by Hetman’s chancellery) from the period when the offi ce was held by Stanisław Jan Jabłonowski, the Ruthenian Palatine and later Kraków Castellan. The registers, albeit incomplete (registers for 1683-1685, 1687-1689 and 1696 are missing), contain, inter alia,

Background: The beginning of the Anti-Hetman uprising in November 1918 had become a serious challenge for the Ukrainian State and prompted it to rapidly take military and propagandistic measures to stop the spread of the revolt and finally crush it. One of the most important directions of propaganda at that time was leaflets, which were a useful instrument for spreading propaganda ideas and guidance to the masses. These leaflets could represent the political ideology of one side of the conflict, the image of the enemy, the causes of the conflict, and the urgent needs of that side. Therefore, i

Even though the Anti-Hetman uprising (November-December of 1918) was a short-term and brief military conflict nevertheless, it had a significant impact on the course of the Ukrainian revolution and gained some place in historiography. A characteristic feature of historiography dedicated to the Ukrainian revolution is that part was created by Ukrainian political emigration abroad (in the atmosphere of ideological discussion between different Ukrainian parties), and another part – in the Soviet Union under the pressure of censorship and communist ideology. Abstract This chapter reviews Valentina Lepri’s Knowledge Transfer and the Early Modern University. Statecraft and Philosophy at the Akademia Zamojska (1595–1627) (2019). This book demonstrates how the history of the Zamość Academy raises interesting questions about the purpose and the nature of institutions of higher education in the two centuries following the coming of printing and the breaking apart of the Roman Catholic church. The history of the Academy is inextricably bound to the vision of its founder, Jan Zamoyski, who, through talent and ruthlessness, rose from the ranks of the middl
