Abstract:
Le nom de Stefan Heym est associé à la controverse politique depuis son enfance. Jeune juif, il doit quitter sa ville natale pour la Tchécoslovaquie, puis les Etats-Unis pour échapper aux Nazis. Officier de l'armée américaine, il participe au débarquement en Normandie. L'arrivée au pouvoir de Mac-Carthy, l'oblige à fuir à nouveau vers l'Allemagne de l'Est, où il jouera à plein son rôle d'intellectuel, toujours fidèle à ses convictions. En choisissant d'entrer en politique en 1994 sous la bannière du PDS, Heym devient, tout d'abord, l'archétype d'une certaine prise de parole, peu commune au regard de la tradition intellectuelle allemande. Stefan Heym a en effet toujours évolué aux frontières de la politique et de la morale cherchant à les concilier plutôt qu'à les opposer. Devenir représentant du peuple à la suite d'élections démocratiques offrait à Heym une tribune privilégiée pour délivrer son message civique. Cet exemple nous permet de réfléchir à la double logique qui soustend l'espace public : logique intellectuelle et logique politique, construites chacune autour de leurs propres règles du jeu. Mais paradoxalement, sa sortie du politique s'avère tout aussi problématique. L'intérêt du " cas Heym " réside également dans la manière dont le passé d'un homme va se retrouver au cœur d'un processus d'instrumentalisation complexe. Sa vie est certes suffisamment riche pour constituer un réservoir d'images exemplaires ou répulsives, mais les usages stratégiques sont ici tels - entre promotion et stigmatisation - qu'ils finissent par poser la question des véritables enjeux d'une mise en scène aussi sophistiquée. On peut se demander si, à travers la vie de Heym, l'Allemagne réunifiée ne se prête pas à un vaste travail d'introspection collective
Stefan Heym's name has been associated with political controversy since his early youth. As a young Jew, he had to flee his hometown to Czechoslovakia and finally to the United States to escape the Nazi régime. As an officer in the U. S. Army, he took part in the Normandy D-Day operations. Mac Carthy's arrival in office urged him to leave the US for the GDR, where he played his role as an intellectujal woleheartedly, always true to his convictions. By choosing to embrace politics in 1994 for the PDS party, Heym became first and foremost the archetype of a certain voice unusual in the German intellectual tradition. Indeed Stefan Heym always moved along boundaries between politics and ethics, trying to combine them both rather tan to oppose them. Becoming a member of parliament elected by citizens in a democratic election was to offer him a privileged rostrum to deliver his civic message. This example makes it possible to ponder over the twofold logic wich underlies the public sphere : intellectual logic and the political one, both being constructed on their own rules. Paradoxically, résigning from politics was equally problematic. The interest of the " Heym case " lies also in the way a man's past is brought into the heart of a complex instrumentalization process. His life is rich enough to provide a wide range of images - be they exemplary or repulsive -, but here strategic uses are such-between promotion and stigmatisation - that they lead us to ask the question of the real stakes of such a sophisticated staging. Through Stefan Heym's figure, we can wonder if reunified Germany doesn't indulge in a far-reaching bout of mass soul-searching

Abstract:
Earlier studies of Stefan Heym have tended to mention the ‘cult of personality’ only in passing, but the investigation of megalomaniac, and usually historical, figures is a focal point of both his literary and journalistic output. Viewed in its broader sense, the cult of personality can be found throughout his works, and not solely in those which confront the legacy of Stalinism. This study charts the progression of Heym’s investigation into charismatic attraction and deliberate image cultivation. It first examines the pieces of his youth, and those in which he recognises the phenomenon within American society and post-war communism. Attention is then turned to demystification of the Stalin cult through the veiled criticism contained within his historical fiction written in the GDR, in which, crucially, pre-Stalinist forbears are identified. Heym’s approach to the problem is also problem is also examined in texts published after reunification and thus devoid of self-censorship. Heym’s focus was not restricted to charismatic performance on the political level alone; the social level of personal interaction represents a significant aspect of his fiction. Thus the function of ‘minor characters’ is given considerable attention, both as followers or creators of leader figures and in the context of the individual’s role as an agent of history. Against this background, Heym’s understanding of the writer’s role in society is considered and the question raised as to whether he himself developed a ‘cult’ of the dissident intellectual or literary figure. Much use is made of previously unexplored material from Heym’s personal archive in Cambridge University, while the archive itself is examined as a literary form and as an essential part of Heym’s own self-presentation.

Concevoir la relation verhaeren heym sur le mode emission reception n'est pas une idee d'une absolue nouveaute. Cette perspective connut meme une vogue ephemere au debut du siecle dans la critique journalistique d'outre-rhin. Mais aucune etude ne s'est jamais attachee a examiner en quoi la realite textuelle permettait de confirmer, eventuellement d'infirmer, ce point de vue : tel est donc le but de3 notre travail. La notion d'images de la violence constitue le point de contact premier, a partir duquel a pu s'organiser une exploration visant a tisser des liens de plus en plus complexes d'un texte a l'autre. Sous-tend donc cette etude une centralite thematique ternaire articulee autour de trois ensembles : la nature, la ville, l'homme. Chacun d'eux englobe, regroupes en chapitres, les itineraires ou se construit l'ouverture patiente de multiples passages entre les deux oeuvres. La recension et l'exploration des phenomenes similaires, des attitudes communes, des image ressemblantes, ont servi l'etablissement de mise en relation organisees au niveau d'un mot, d'une phrase, d'une strophe, voire d'une piece. A partir d'une lecture strictement textuelle, qui doit evidemment beaucoup a celles qui l'ont precedee, ont finalement ete mises en lumiere des convergences permettant d'etayer l'hypothese d'une integration, par le lyrisme heymien d'elements de la poesie du flamand
To view the raltion between verhaeren and heym in terms of the categories "emission" and "reception" is not an entirely new idea. This point of view even enjoyed a brief popularity at the beginning of the century in the domain of journalistic criticism in germany. However, there has been no study devoted to examination of whether this mode of analysis is confirmed (or infirmed) by the texts themselves : this constitutes the goal of the present work. The concept of images of violence constitutes the stepping stone from which exploration has been organized whose goal is tot weawe links from one text to another. There is thus a thematic centrality underlying this study which is expressed in three areas: nature, city and man. Organized by chapter, each of these themes reveals multiple interelations between the two literary works. Descriotion and exploration of similar phenomena, common attitudes, and similar images give rise to the construction of a network of parallels organized at the level of the work, the sentence, the verse, and even the poem. It will be shown that a strictly formal analysis, which of course owes much to its predecessors, allows for the discovery of convergences which support the hypothesis that heymien lyricism integrates aspects of verhaeren's poetry

Abstract:
A civil Uprising on 17 June 1953 in the German Democratic Republic created a dilemma for a number of writers there. On one hand, they were deeply committed to the principles of socialism, upon which their state was based and which they saw as being put in grave danger by events such as those they experienced on 17 June. On the other hand, they were fiercely critical of the practice of socialism as pursued by the governing party, whose Stalinist methods of governance they believed to be in large part responsible for the civil unrest. My thesis explores the nature of this dilemma in the case of four writers, Bertolt Brecht, Heiner Müller, Stefan Heym and Erich Loest, and their efforts to resolve it within a repressive state, whose regime vigorously suppressed all signs of criticism or dissent. These writers created major works of fiction, a cycle of poems, a drama and two novels, in which the Uprising of 17 June is the central theme. In addition, each has provided a substantial body of non-fictional texts, largely journalistic and autobiographical, in which the Uprising is extensively contextualised. In bringing together and interrelating the fictional and non-fictional work of each author into my analysis, I have been able to demonstrate that all four held and publicly expressed views that set them in opposition to the regime in the GDR.

Abstract:
Smart homes are based on connecting different parts and components of the household through sensors and the use of the internet. The interconnection of the household enables control and remote control of the home. The factors behind consumer adoption of the smart home have been studied but there are still questions regarding the value propositions of smart homes. This study presents material that can provide insights into what value propositions young adults demand in smart home products. The methods used to produce the study results were, a survey and a questionnaire. The results from the survey showed that smart voice assistants were appreciated by the participants. However, all the participants believed the functional value of the smart voice assistants was limited. After participating in the survey, they felt no real need for the smart voice assistant in their home. The results from the questionnaire’s 112 answers showed that a large majority of the respondents did not own a smart voice assistant. Many did however, express a positive opinion towards voice assistants and were open to the purchase of a smart voice assistant in the future. The small number of respondents that did own a smart voice assistant were all satisfied with their purchase of a smart voice assistant

Femininity, in its normative socially driven state, is not a natural trait but a ghost that bears its past incarnations. I am interested in gender as a haunting social apparatus. Gender roles and representations have shifted throughout history, yet remain firmly attached to their antecedents. My creative research focuses on femininity as set forth in religion, social practices, and cultural phenomena and how these forces intersect at the present moment to create a complicated relationship of gender identity and expectations.

Abstract:
This collection of poems is representative of the creative writing and literary studies completed during my time in Portland State University's Master of Fine Arts Program. Poetry workshops, seminars in prosody, syntax, and translation, and forays into the magic of rhetoric and defamiliarization in the novel have all contributed to the thinking and feeling shown in this work. Some themes that the collection circles around are: the alienating and sometimes ecstatic relationship between the identities of civilized human and human-as-animal, the processes of falling in and out of faith in a greater power and with belonging to a human community, non-binary and unconventional performances of gender and sexuality, psychological inquiry about the nature of the self, the cleaving of mind and body, and meditations on 21st Century youth.

Abstract:

Anledningen till att jag valt detta ämne som examensarbete, är att jag under mina praktikperioder förstått att kontakten med föräldrar inte alltid är självklar. Dessutom är kommunikationen mellan skola och hem ett område som utgör en försvinnande liten del i lärarutbildningen.

Mitt syfte till studien är att undersöka hur och om vad lärare och föräldrar kommunicerar. Samt hur de båda parterna värderar, använder och tycker är viktig kommunikation.

Genom att använda relevant litteratur och genomfört intervjuer med tre lärare och tre föräldrar har jag bland annat kommit fram till dessa resultat. Kommunikation mellan skola och hem består av två utvecklingssamtal per år, såvida föräldrarna inte själva hör av sig eller har barn som på något sätt brister på det sociala, disciplinära eller kunskapsmässiga planet. Under-sökningen visar också att utvecklingssamtalet i grunden är en accepterad och omtyckt kontaktform av både lärare och föräldrar. Andra konstateranden är att föräldrar främst vill veta hur deras barn sköter sig i skolan, om de blir mobbade eller om dom mobbar andra. Ytterligare önskvärd information är hur barnen ligger till kunskapsmässigt i förhållande till kunskapsmålen.

Vi ville också ta reda på om föräldrars och pedagogers bild stämmer överens om hur samarbete kan gå till och om man är beredd att mötas med tillgång och efterfrågan.Bronfenbrenners utvecklingsekologiska teori bygger på att det är samspelet mellan de olika miljöerna kring barnet som påverkar hur och till vad barnet utvecklas. De olika miljöerna såsom hemmet och skolan är beroende av varandra och hänger ihop därför är det vikigt att dessa kan samspela med varandra och ha en fungerande relation. Enligt den sociokulturella teorin så sker lärandet i interaktion med andra. Föräldrar och andra vuxna bör därför ses som en tillgång i barnets lärandeprocess i skolans värld.De metoder som vi valt att använda oss av är intervjuer i kontakten med pedagogerna och utskick av enkäter till föräldrarna.Sammanfattningsvis kan vi konstatera att både pedagoger och föräldrar är nöjda med samarbetet i dag. Dock är man beredd att förändra och utöka kontakterna från båda parter om det är till förmån för de inblandade. Samarbetet sker på många olika sätt idag och det finns en vilja från pedagoger att involvera föräldrarna mer i undervisningen och föräldrarna är beredda delge sina erfarenheter.
The aim with this survey has been to get to know how collaboration sees out today average homes and school. We have selected to see it both from pedagogue - respective parent’s perspective. Is the surely operational cooperation or is it something they want to change? We wanted also to know about parents' and pedagogues picture agrees agreed about how cooperation seems to work and if one is ready to meet with access and demand. Bronfenbrenners development ecological theory builds on that it is the ensemble between the different environments around the child that influences how and to what child to be developed. The different environments as the home and the school are interdependent and hangs together therefore it is important that these can play well together with each other and have an operational relationship. According to it sociocultural the theory so happens learning in interaction with others. Parents and others adult should therefore be seen as an access in the child's faith spirit process in the school’s world. The methods that we chosen to use us of is interviews in the contact with pedagogues and dispatches of questionnaires to the parents. To sum up, we can establish that both pedagogues and parents are pleased with the cooperation today. However, one is ready to change and to increase the contacts from both parties if it is to benefit for they involved. The cooperation happens on many different ways today and there be a will from pedagogues to involve the parents more in the education and the parents is ready notify their experiences.

Abstract:
Detta projekt handlar o att bygga sitt eget hem. För tillfället är majoriteten av de småhus som byggs i Sverige kataloghus. De konstrueras så billigt som möjligt för att passa så många som möjligt och kan anses vara en fortsättning av de typologier som utvecklades under egnahem-rörelsen, som i sin tur plockade mycket från svensk stugtradition. De har dock utvecklats och funnit form från huvudsakligen ekonomi och anpassning till byggregler istället för brukarens behov. Mitt mål har varit att utmana detta genom att rita en byggnad som är uppförd med traditionella tekniker som tittar längre bak i tiden, och som jag valt på andra kriterier såsom miljöpåverkan, inomhusklimat och möjlighet till expansion utan att behöva kassera material. Den färdiga byggnaden är förhoppningsvis möjlig att konstruera på egen hand, samtidigt som den är anpassad till brukarens behov och kan utvecklas i takt med att de behoven förändras.
This project is about the tradition of constructing your own home. At the moment, the majority of small houses built in sweden are catalogue-houses. They are constructed in the cheapest way possible and designed to suit as many as possible. They could be considered an evolution from the type houses of the early 20th century, evolved within, and from, the swedish building codes and regulations.  My aim was to challenge the status-quo by selecting building techniques not based on price or whats common practice at the moment, but to look further back in time and prioritizing living climate, eco-friendly construction and flexibility.  The finished building is hopefully possible to construct by yourself, suitable to ones needs and flexible enough to evolve as they do.

Uppgiften var att rita ett gemensamt samlingsplats för lokala gymnasiestudenter på Slakthusområdet i södra Stockholm. Byggnaden ska också fungera som plats för olika kultur evenemang och aktiviteter. Det var lätt för mig att välja denna uppgift, eftersom gymnasiestudenter har inte tillgång till öppna studieytor på samma sätt som till exempel universitetstudenter, även om gymnasieutbildingen innebär också mycket eget studerande. När jag gick i gymnasiet så bodde jag nästan på det lokala biblioteket. För mig var det nästan ett annat hem där jag studerade och träffade gamla och nya vänner.  Trots att tomten på Slakthusområdet är ganska trång så ville jag skapa en öppen känsla och ett fritt flöde i byggnaden. Jag kom fram till triangel-formade våningsplan och stora trappor.  Det ska vara en harmonisk stämning i byggnaden för att det ska vara lätt att koncentrera sig och kunna fly vardags- och skolstress. Det finns undersökningar som visar att trä som konstruktionsmaterial har stressdämpande egenskaper och andra positiva hälsoeffekter och därför det kändes bra att använda trä i en läromiljö. Byggnaden bärs av limträpelare. Hisschakt fungerar som stabilisering. Träreglarna i fasaden stabiliserar byggnaden diagonalt.
The assignment was to design a studying centre for the local upper-secondary school students in Slakthusområdet, southern Stockholm. The building would be a place for studying as well as for different culture events and activities, including a library and a theater scene. For me it was easy to choose this specific task. High school students do not have open and  public places for studying like university students do. As a upper secondary school student I almost lived at the local library. I, as many many other students, studied there, met new and old friends and almost lived there.  The given site on an old industry area in southern Stockholm is quite small but I still wanted to have an open atmosphere and free flow in the building. That’s how the triangle-shaped floors and wide, open stairs were formed.  Wood as a construction material is noticed to have positive, stress-reducing features. That’s why it felt natural to use wood in a studying environment. The gluelam columns are load bearing. The elevator shaft in the middle as well as  diagonal wooden beams on the facade are stabilizing elements in the building.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur hem- och konsumentkunskapslärare arbetar idag med de digitala verktyg och vilken inställning de har till digitala resurser i hem- och konsumentkunskapssalen. Studien genomfördes med hjälp av kvalitativa informationsintervjuer bland fem hem- och konsumentkunskapslärare som undervisade från årskurs 5 till 9 i grundskolan. Undersökningen är av en kvalitativ ansats med semistrukturerade intervjuer. I studien ingår en teori om en utvecklingsprocess. Analysen presenteras efter studiens frågeställningar. Resultat visade att de flesta informanter är positiva till att integrera informations- och kommunikationsteknik (IKT) i undervisningen. Bakgrunden till en viss osäkert till IKT var flera; intresset, inställningen och kompetensen till IKT. Det framgick också att informanterna hade önskat sig en mer dagsaktuell utbildning inom IKT. Informanterna använde IKT i undervisningssyfte och i deras planeringsarbete och som ett kommunikationsverktyg till både föräldrar, elever och andra kollegor. IKT-verktyget används mestadels för att söka ny litteratur som kunde ge nya lektionsupplägg som kompletterade till ämnet. Faktorer som påverkar lärarnas användande av IKT är tillgången till resurser. En faktor som styrde informanterna var vilka ekonomiska investeringar som gjorts i deras undervisningssal. Brist på IKT-verktyg skapade problem för vissa lärare och krävde både mer planeringsarbete och undervisningstid.

Studien har syftat till att undersöka hur individers känsla av säkerhet kan påverkas i ett smart hem. Hemmet, smarta hem (SH) och känslan av säkerhet har definierats med hjälp av litteratur som är relevant för respektive område. Den teoretiska grunden tillsammans med studiens syfte ligger till grund för den designstrategi som använts för att undersöka detta på ett relevant sätt. Studien har baserats på ett induktivt angreppsätt där fokus har varit att identifiera aspekter som påverkar känslan av säkerhet i ett SH. Datainsamlingen har skett med hjälp av en enkät samt en fokusgrupp. Studien har identifierat fynd som resulterat i två övergripande aspekter vilket är kontroll samt tillit till systemet. Dessa aspekter består av sju mer specifika definitioner, vilket kan ligga till grund för fortsatt forskning kring hur SH påverkar de som bor i dem.

“Hey Neighbor! Let’s Play.” Is a masters thesis evaluating the effects games and playful interactions have in building a sense of community. Throughout the thesis, I researched the emotional connections urban residents have with their communities and neighbors, and used the research data to develop installations for play throughout pedestrian staircases in the Southside Slopes, an urban neighborhood in Pittsburgh. From these installations, I collected user feedback and evaluated how the games affected various residents of the community. From the feedback, I was able to ultimately establish several design principles to inspire and facilitate future designers interested in designing neighborhood-based games.

Syftet är att undersöka målgruppens beteende och behov genom datainsamling som sedan ligger som grund för konceptutveckling av produkter och eller tjänster i samarbete med interaktionsavdelningen på Cybercom Öresund.Datainsamlingen börjar med en pilotundersökning där en observatör befinner sig i målgruppens hem och antecknar familjernas aktiviteter, beteenden och kommunikation med hjälp av en observationsmatris. Eftersom observatörens närvaro påverkade familjernas beteenden gjordes nya observationerna med hjälp av en GoPro-kamera som fästs på huvudet av en representant från vardera familj. Videodokumentationerna utförs under familjernas morgonrutiner, mellan kl. 7-9 en vardagsmorgon, och ger svar på vilka aktiviteter, målet med aktiviteterna, i vilka rum de utförs samt spelar in familjernas kommunikation. Som komplement till videodokumentationerna loggades samma familjemedlems mobilanvändning under ytterligare en vardagsmorgon.Informationen från datainsamlingen används sedan för att utveckla koncept under tre workshoptillfällen tillsammans med Cybercom Öresund. Koncepten presenteras för familjerna i samband med en intervju som resulterar i ytterligare information om deras behov och syn på koncepten.Genom att låta målgruppen videodokumentera specifika tidpunkter i sina liv är det möjligt att bistå utvecklare med information som möjliggör konceptutveckling av produkter eller tjänster som är anpassad till en specifik målgrupps behov.
Concept development for smart homesThis report examines the possibility of developing concepts for smart home based on a specified target group’s needs. The aim is to investigate the target group's behavior and needs through data collection which then serves as the basis for concept development of products and or services in collaboration with the interaction department at Cybercom Öresund.The data collection begins with a pilot study where an observer is located in the target groups home to record the families activities, behaviors and communication using an observation matrix. Since the observers presence was considered to affect the families behavior new observations using a GoPro camera attached to the head of one representative from each family was conducted. The video documentations were performed during the families morning routines, between the hours 7-9 am a weekday morning, providing answers to the activities, the objective of the activities, in which room they were performed as well as recording the families conversations. As a complement to the video documentations the apps Quality time and Moment were used to log the families mobile activities during another weekday morning.Collected data was then used to develop concepts during three workshops together with Cybercom Öresund. The concepts were presented to the families and an interview resulting in further information about their needs and views on the concepts were conducted. The results were brought back to Cybercom Öresund for further concept development resulting in one of the concepts being ready for its first paper prototype. Presenting this to the users would be the next step to investigate.
