Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
BackgroundSleep problems are common among children with chronic illnesses such as Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), which is one of the most common rheumatic diseases in childhood. Sleep disturbances collectively refer to impairments in the ability to initiate or maintain sleep. They can be measured by parent or child self-report and by objective measures such as actigraphy and polysomnography.ObjectivesThe aim of this study was to assess sleep disorders in children with JIA.MethodsParents of children suffering from JIA (according to the International League of Associations for Rheumatology (ILAR)), followed in rheumatology department were asked to complete a specific specialized scale for children (HIBOU) [1] to screen sleep disorders. This scale assesses five aspects of sleep: irregular schedule and daytime drowsiness, insomnia, moves in sleep, nose obstruction and ultra-vigilance. Parents were asked to answer 8 questions rated from 1 to 3 according to the frequency of the problem, 1: rarely, 2: 3 to 4 times a week and 3 if 5 to 7 times a week. If the sum is ≤ 9, only sleep hygiene is recommended. If the sum is between 10 and 15 the child requires regular supervision. If the sum is between 16 and 24, the child needs to be referred to a specialist. General demographic and clinical information (family history of chronic inflammatory disease, child’s current age, diagnosis and type of JIA, duration of disease progression and activity of the disease) were also collected.ResultsTwenty-four children with a mean age of 12 years [4-16] were included in the study. The gender ratio was 1. The mean duration of the disease was 4 years with extremes from three months to thirteen years. The frequency of each JIA subset was as follows: polyarticular with rheumatoid factor (n= 2), polyarticular without rheumatoid factor (n=5), psoriatic arthritis (n= 1), enthesitis-related arthritis (n=10) and oligoarthritis (n= 6). Irregular sleep schedule and daytime drowsiness were reported at least 3 times a week by 58.3% of the children. Insomnia and inability to initiate sleep were reported in 29.3% of the children at least 3 times a week. Parents reported exaggerated moves during sleep in 50% of the cases and airway obstruction or snoring in 58.3% more than 3 times a week. Difficulties to maintain a good night of sleep more than three times a week were reported in 25% of cases. To sum up, 29.2% of the children had a score above 15 and needed to be referred to a specialist and 58.3% of them need a regular supervision of their sleep and may need to be referred to a specialist. Only three children had a score under 9 and don’t have concerning sleep disorders according to this scale.ConclusionThis study showed that sleep disorders are a common challenge in children and adolescents with JIA which could have a huge impact on their physical and psychosocial health-related quality of life. This study highlights the need for assessment of sleep disorders in JIA patients.References[1]Benhaberou-Brun D. Abstract:
Recent Foucauldian critiques of neoliberalism – especially those by Wendy Brown, Béatrice Hibou, and Pierre Dardot and Christian Laval – have argued that the Marxist interpretation of neoliberalism as a class project is reductive and economistic, and have instead conceptualised neoliberalism as a form of governmental rationality. This article compares these two influential approaches to understanding neoliberalism. It will outline the central features of the Foucauldian and Marxist approaches, assess the strengths and weaknesses of both approaches, and argue that a synthesis of the two approaches is both possible and desirable. While the Foucauldian approach enables a microphysics of everyday neoliberalism and its modes of subjectivity, it is argued that such an analysis must be placed within the broader, macrostructural approach of Marxism. The article thus defends Marxism against its Foucauldian critique, while nonetheless encouraging Marxists to engage with Foucauldian accounts of neoliberalism which they have so far tended to ignore.

Abstract:
It has been said repeatedly: the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) remains only a shadow of its former self, a typical case of state failure and collapse. Closer observation suggests a different image, however: not only has this country demonstrated “a remarkable propensity for resilience” (Englebert, 2003), its administration and regulatory frameworks – which in some domains have not changed since colonial times – have remained largely intact even during the latest period of war and political turmoil. In this article, we would like to explain these different “cross currents and contradictions” (Young, 2004) that emerged during the past Congolese war, addressing the question of whether processes of state erosion and political reconfiguration during this period should be described as a further “privatisation of the state”, as proposed by Hibou and others, or rather as a transformation or commodification of state sovereignty. The article is organized diachronically: it first discusses the Mobutu period (1965-1997), and then the war (1996-2003), to finally draw some conclusions from Congo’s long period of political “transition”.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The objective of this article is to explore the evolution of what Beatrice Hibou calls the bureaucratisation of the world through a cultural history of the idea of bureaucracy in the western canon, taking in readings of Max Weber, Franz Kafka, Hannah Arendt, and Michel Foucault. The purpose of this historical survey is to reveal the essential problem of bureaucracy relating to the estrangement of body and writing in a state of modern technological abstraction. In order to set up this cultural history the first part of the article concerns perhaps the originary moment of the estrangement of humanity from writing, Socrates' story of the gift of writing from Plato's Phaedrus. Following exploration of Socrates' story, the article considers Derrida's famous analysis of the pharmakon of writing and suggests that what Derrida considered the original problem of speech and writing (that is, the need to decentre the proto-totalitarian idea of presence) no longer applies in the contemporary bureaucratised world where writing itself has evolved its own totalitarian form – abstract bureaucratic language that no longer speaks to the human. The article goes on to trace the evolution of this strange form of writing through exploration of the key works of Weber, Kafka, Arendt, and Foucault, before concluding by suggesting that what is required to move beyond the bureaucratisation of the world is the reversal of Derrida's pharmakon towards a situation that recognises the presence of human being in the world. Extending this point, the final section of the article concludes by suggesting that it is possible to find this argument in Bernard Stiegler's work and explaining that his theory of the neganthropocene may contain a solution of the problem of estranged writing and the totally bureaucratised world.

Abstract:
Buffer and overlay analysis are fundamental operations which are widely used in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for resource allocation, land planning, and other relevant fields. Real-time buffer and overlay analysis for large-scale spatial data remains a challenging problem because the computational scales of conventional data-oriented methods expand rapidly with data volumes. In this paper, we present HiBO, a visualization-oriented buffer-overlay analysis model which is less sensitive to data volumes. In HiBO, the core task is to determine the value of pixels for display. Therefore, we introduce an efficient spatial-index-based buffer generation method and an effective set-transformation-based overlay optimization method. Moreover, we propose a fully optimized hybrid-parallel processing architecture to ensure the real-time capability of HiBO. Experiments on real-world datasets show that our approach is capable of handling ten-million-scale spatial data in real time. An online demonstration of HiBO is provided (http://www.higis.org.cn: 8080/hibo).

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction Nowadays, most patients under oral anticoagulation treatment (OAT) require invasive procedures such as colonoscopy or gastroscopy. The goals of the management OF OAT are to minimize the risk of thromboembolism and bleeding. Few studies have analyzed the efficacy and safety of low-molecular-weight-heparin (LMWH) in the periprocedure management. We have performed a prospective, observational study to evaluate these parameters using high-dose thromboprophylactic therapy with sodic Bemiparin. (Hibor ®) Methods From January 2004 since June 2004, patients under OCT were included before colonoscopy or gastroscopy procedures. Periprocedure prophylaxis consisted on: Acenocoumarol patients: Day -3: withdrawal acenocumarol. Days -2,-1,0: Hibor ®3500 UI/d sc and days +1,+2,+3: Hibor ®3500 U/I + acenocumarol. And day +5: acenocumarol only. Warfarin patients: Días -5,-4: withdrawal warfarin, −3, −2, −1, 0; Hibor ® 3500 UI/d sc, days +1,+2,+3,+4: Hibor ®3500 UI/d sc and warfarin and day +5; warfarin only. Thromboembolic complications and bleeding were recorded in a 3 months follow-up. Results. We included 65 patients, 33 women and 32 men. Mean age of women was 72 (range: 50–87) years-old and 72 (range: 39–86) in men. 53 were taken acenocoumarol, and 12 warfarin. OAT indications were: 9 prosthethic mechanical mitral valves 12 prosthetic mechanical aortic valves, 4 with mechanical mitral and aortic replacement, 7 with thrombophilia, 7 with embolic atrial fibrilation/flutter (AF) 18 with isolated AF,1 ischemic cardiomyopathy (IM), 3 with IM and AF and 5 with mitral valvulopathy. 24 gastroscopies and 41 colonoscopies were performed. Mean follow-up was 3 months. No thromboembolic complications were observed. Only one episode of minor bleeding no related with Bemiparin thromboembolic therapy was recorded. One patient developed pruritus at the punction site. No heparin-related thrombopenia cases were observed. ConclusionsHigh-dose thromboprophilactic therapy with Bemiparin (Hibor ®) is a safe and effective in periprocedures management in patients under OAT who require gastroscopy or colonoscopy

Abstract:
Abstract The classical rain attenuation correction scheme of Hitschfeld and Bordan (HIBO) and the newer iterative approach by Hildebrand (HL) are reconsidered. Although the motivation for the HL algorithm was an extension into ranges, where HIBO tends to be unstable, it is shown here that the contrary is the case. The finite-range resolution causes an intrinsic instability of HL already at moderate attenuation, where HIBO would still deliver stable results. Therefore, the authors concentrate the further analysis on HIBO, and confirm that the usual implementation of HIBO does not account correctly for finite-range resolution. They suggest a modified scheme that produces exact retrievals in the ideal case of perfect measurements. For vertically pointing Doppler radars a new element is explored in the attenuation correction—namely, calculating rain attenuation κ and rainfall R from Doppler spectra via the raindrop size distributions (RSDs). Although this spectral scheme (SIBO) avoids the uncertainty of Z–R and Z–κ relations, the superiority of this approach is not a priori obvious because of its sensitivity to vertical wind. Therefore, radar rain rates, based on a Z–R relation and on RSDs, respectively, are compared with in situ measurements. The results indicate better agreement for RSD-based retrievals. Because κ is closely correlated with R, the authors assert the advantage of RSD-based retrievals of κ. The application of HIBO and SIBO to real data shows that the uncertainty of standard Z–R relations is the main source of deviation between the two versions. In addition, the comparison of profiles suggests that the parameters of Z–R relations aloft can deviate considerably from near-surface values. Although artifacts cannot be excluded with certainty, there is some evidence that this observation actually reflects microphysical processes.

Abstract:
Abstract Corn plots (4 rows (30-inch spacing) × (50 ft) were established using a randomized complete block design to evaluate the efficacy of insecticides used for European corn borer control. Twelve chemical treatments and a check were randomly assigned to corn plots within each of 4 blocks. Chemical treatments were timed using an ECB phenological growth model and egg mass sampling to determine the period of egg laying. Treatments were applied on 4 Aug approximately 4 days after peak egg deposition (majority of eggs in blackhead stage). Liquid formulations were applied using a nitrogen-pressurized system mounted on a Hiboy with the boom pressure adjusted to 30 psi (liquid output = 26 gal/acre). Three hollow cone nozzles/row were used, with the side 2 nozzles mounted at a 45° angle on 15-inch drop-extensions and the remaining nozzle directed down over the row. Granular formations were applied using Gandy granular applicators mounted on the Hiboy. Granular treatments were applied in a 7-inch band over the row. Plots were evaluated on 11 Sep for surviving ECB larvae. Twenty consecutive plants/plot (from one of the center rows) were dissected and examined. Plots were harvested on 16 Oct from 100 row-ft using a 3-row harvester. Yield from each plot was adjusted to pounds of grain/plant and a 15.5% moisture content.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a new interest rate model by using uncertain mean-reverting differential equation. Based on the model, the pricing formulas of the zero-coupon bond, the interest rate ceiling and interest rate floor are derived respectively according to Yao-Chen formula. The symmetry appears in mathematical formulations of the interest rate ceiling and interest rate floor pricing formula. Furthermore, the model is applied to depict Hong Kong interbank offered rate (Hibor). Finally the parameter estimation by the method of moments and hypothesis test is completed.

Abstract:
Article represents passive diathesis which is one of many kinds and function of grammatical analysis. Passive diathesis or mostly known as passive voice is usually used to show a relation between the speaker and his view on something. In Japanese, passive diathesis is divided in three parts such as, kihon teki na ukemi (basic passive voice), mochi mushi ukemi (belonging passive voice), higai no ukemi (loss passive voice), and hijou no ukemi (neutral passive voice). Each passive voice in Japanese has different function and meaning, therefore in teaching Japanese language it should take more exercise and example in order to be more complete and comprehensive.

A study on the prepayment behavior of Hong Kong mortgage loans is conducted. With all of the loans as adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs), we find that 1) Prepayment speeds up and then slows down as the mortgage seasons; 2) Prepayment speeds up as the rate markup decreases; 3) Prepayment speeds up as the interest rate increases; 4) Prepayment speeds up when the profitability ratio of the banks ( the prime-HIBOR spread) is higher; 5) Prepayment speeds up as the price of the property market falls; 6) Prepayment speed is faster for loans with a lower loan-to-value ratio; 7) Prepayment exhibits a seasonal pattern: people tend to prepay in the summer.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article examines the smuggling of coltan into and out of artisanal mining areas in northern Katanga where the ITRI Tin Supply Chain Initiative (iTSCi), a policy on conflict minerals, tries to improve transparency in trading tin, tantalum (coltan) and tungsten. The article approaches smuggling from a sociology of economic life perspective, closely examining how and why artisanal miners and mine-based middlemen (négociants) helped smugglers (hiboux) in the trafficking of coltan. The findings indicate that the social networks in which miners and mine-basednégociantsare embedded allow the miners,négociantsand smugglers to maintain close relationships and to breach official regulations, but miners and mine-basednégociantsalso rely on the same networks to cheat in their dealings with the smugglers. This article concludes that, rather than considering coltan mining areas to be ‘enclaves of regulations’, understanding and addressing smuggling at both local and broader contexts call for a comprehensive, more contextualised approach.
