Abstract:
This work studied the information flow and information handling among different parties. The study focused on how educational materials on national tests from The Swedish National Agency for Education is managed by school principals and teachers and how the information is passed on to students. The data material was based on observations and interviews at two different high schools. Six teachers and their classes and principals participated in the study. The Agency was also interviewed. The results showed that opinions on the role of the national test varies between different teachers and the Agency. The study also showed that the dissemination of information in the schools is inadequate, information documents do not reach their target audience, and those who have access to the information do not read enough. This is partly due to lack of follow-up from the responsibles at the schools, but also teachers who do not seek out information that is available themselves. These shortcomings result in teachers carrying out national tests with their classes without being properly briefed, which could have consequences for both the students and the entire test system.

Abstract:
The level of increased central government that we have experienced during the last decades in school, for the purpose of increasing equality and to adapt the Swedish school to a certain international standard, clearly shows that increased control scarcely leads to improvement. The aim of this paper is to examine whether teachers believe that national tests contribute to equivalent assessment and increased goal attainment. Furthermore the teachers’ attitude towards and work with national tests is described. The paper is written from a school improvement perspective, where good examples from current research on what creates increased quality in school meaning increased goal attainment and equivalent assessment are related to research on school effectiveness and increased testing in schools. The study builds upon a quantitative survey among teachers in upper primary - and secondary school in a medium-sized municipality in Sweden. The result shows that the teachers have a somewhat more positive than negative attitude towards national tests, as a whole. The teachers use the tests in their instruction and they are a part of their planning. The advantages mentioned are the possibilities of showing off good examples, making the curriculum concrete, prepare the students for the test and get guidelines and support in assessment and grading. The teachers in the survey don’t consider the tests giving a full image of the abilities of a student nor do they consider the tests themselves relevant for the student’s learning. The result also shows a certain variation in the attitude of the teachers. Teachers, who have worked the longest period of time, more than 20 years, are those with the best attitude towards the test and their ability to contribute to increased goal attainment and equivalent assessment. Teachers who have worked the shortest period of time are the most skeptical to the positive effects of the tests. The teachers generally consider the tests contributing to equivalent assessment to some degree, but have the least positive stance toward the ability of the tests leading to improved quality meaning increased learning and goal attainment.

We live in an environment dominated by economic globalization, whose effects penetrate in various spheres and areas, from education to metropolises. Educational policies are formulated to meet the pressure for results optimized for cost-effective, forming most of the time, docile individuals, insecure, isolated and consumerist. The upright curricula impose distant contents of the reality of students and these are held accountable for their own school failure. Cities are expanded and remodeled following the logic of commodification of soil, let alone their value in use. Thus, counter hegemonic practices are embraced by educators committed to popular emancipation and the struggle for the popular right to the city, subverting the order through actions and joint networking. The resistance experience viewed in Prof. Te?filo Moreira da Costa High School deserves to be known because it has been promoting actions based on educational activities integrated with social movements. This is carried out by a mobilization movement that seeks to protect the river bank territories in Rio de Janeiro, composing an interdisciplinary support network, which at the moment englobes: The Profito Pedra Branca project of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology (Farmanguinhos / Fiocruz); Farmers Association of Vargem Grande (Agrovargem); Carioca Network of Urban Agriculture (CAU network); Vargem Quilombo; People's Union Movement (MUP) and the Journal Abaixo Assinado of Jacarepagua. The aim of this work is to analyze the relationship between that State High School and the local social movements that seek to contribute to building a territorialized school from the standpoint of concrete actions in space-time and socio-historical realities

This study is based on the premise that a school?s physical space is constructed socially, asi-de from having the constitution of a dynamic place in constant transformation for teaching and learning, and in thus, takes on a dimension that symbolizes the meanings that it produ-ces. We identified agents of action in the school environment, these being students as well as teachers and other staff members. Therefore, the objective of this study is to investigate the relations produced in the school environment by high school students and teachers, as well as how the ripple effects of these relations play out in the school?s physical and social space. Our hypothesis is : that in comparison with the initial years of basic education, the last years lack investment in the diversity of materials for student learning. The physical space, being one of these possible materials, when it?s not mediated by teaching, becomes the stage for different attitudes about the school. When ideas and perspectives about the school don?t find room for dialogue, this relation can emerge in the care/neglect of the space, while at the same time interfering with development and coexistence among students and teachers. To conduct this research, we developed intervention research utilizing Cultural-Historical Psychology as a theoretical and methodological basis. We conducted this research with high school students and teachers attending night school, at a public school in a city of the state of S?o Paulo). Bi-weekly meetings were held with students, in which main activities inclu-ded the interpretation of images and the creation of artistic works such as drawings, pain-tings, and graffiti, fostering discussion about the meanings that they attribute to the school environment, aiming to transform the space. The research results show the prevalent use of physical and psychological tools as instruments of control, articulated by teachers and ad-ministrators. Regarding the students, we see graffiti as a psychological instrument that aims to transgress the rules imposed on them. We also identified the characteristics of mediations that predominate in the school, such as pragmatic order in contrast with the aesthetic expe-rience, which can foster dialogue about different ways of bringing meaning to the school environment and the pedagogical activities. Lastly, we recognize the important role played by participants when they develop their imaginations in the articulation of diverse positions and experiences, which allow for the conciliation of different meanings that inhabit the very same place.

Abstract:
The chapel of the former boromeian closter in Teplice is an important example of the work of monastery art school of benedictins of Beuron. The closter, today the building of the high school of Teplice, was built on the place of former city walls, connected by a prestigeous bouleward with the city center. Today, the building is surrounded by a non-valuable buildings, the bouleward is full of transport during the whole day and near is a highway. The old architectural structure was mainly destroyed and replaced by block of flats made of concrete. The topic ic getting the life back into the building and connect the building back into the public space, to join the "public=city" with the "private=school". The topic is to gain back the dignity and certain monumentality. The topic is to create the space for school activities, workschops, meetings, exhibitions, happenings, and last, but not least, weddings. The high school students should be the future intelectual elity of the space and newly reconstructed space may has the power to reinforce their linkage with the place, which can possibly mean they will search for a job in Teplice after their university studies. I belive, that the architecture has the power to attach the people to the space and to establish the genius loci. And such an opening of the space deserve the gymnasium and the chapel (which is not known to the public in Teplice) 20 years after the Velvet revolution, which itselves, was an opening of the space on the level of politics.

Abstract:
National and international assessments in mathematics show similar results for girls and boys. Despite this, statistics show that girls receive systematically higher final grades. This study examines whether grades serve as an equivalent measure of knowledge of girls and boys in high school mathematics. This is done partly on the basis of a quantitative approach and partly on the basis of a survey. Based on national register data (Statistics Sweden) for final grades and results of national tests, using four different methods of analysis, gender differences with respect to course, school form and county, are examined. The study shows that girls generally get a higher final grade than boys in relation to their results on the national test, confirming previous research. Furthermore, the analysis shows particularly large discrepancies at grade C and higher; in mathematics courses on vocational programs; in later courses within all programs; in V¨asternorrland, V¨astmanland, Gotland and Kalmar County; as well as in independent schools. Correlation analysis clarifies how the national test constitutes a smaller part of the assessment basis for girls compared to boys. The analysis also reveals an inverse relationship between gender dependent relative performance on the national test and the final grade deviation. The survey examines the assessment practice among mathematics teachers. Filtering on the teacher’s gender, age, program and school form has been applied. The result suggests systematic differences in assessment practice between different teacher categories, implying that grades can break in equality. Differences have been shown between, primarily, teachers in vocational programs and science programs, as well as between teachers in municipal and independent schools. Also the teacher’s gender and age seems to be of some importance. The study concludes with a discussion about possible solutions.

Mrázková, Miloslava. "Využití textů Jana Nerudy ve výuce literatury." Master's thesis, 2017. http://www.nusl.cz/ntk/nusl-364864.

Full text
Abstract:
The theoretical part of the master's thesis first deals with the context of Jan Neruda's life and work and with the representation of Neruda's texts in post-revolutionary reading books for junior high school and high school. This part is based on the results presented in the author's bachelor's thesis Work of Jan Neruda in reading books. The next chapter follows the formation of Jan Neruda's image in literature textbooks for junior high school and high school published after 1989. The analysis of reading books and textbooks shows the remaining emphasis on the writer's poetic work even though his contribution to the field of feuilleton and modern prose is considered to be more important. The results of this analysis are used to elucidate the aim of the thesis, which is a new selection of Neruda's texts and the creation of the author's own textbook explanatory texts emphasizing the writer's feuilletons and prose work. The practical part of the thesis contains a questionnaire "mini-research" of pupils' and students' preconceptions regarding the personality and work of Jan Neruda. This research together with another "mini-research" of different teachers' conceptions of teaching about Jan Neruda form the basis for accomplishing the aims of the thesis. The last chapter contains the author's selection of...

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the misconduct of learners in secondary schools in the Ntoane village. It served to determine the • extent to which teenage fall pregnant; • the intensity in which teachers tackle gender violence in schools; • the manner in which the parents’ culture and values are enforced by the teachers. Recommendations are made on how to overcome these barriers and to improve the level of misconduct. A literature study was carried out to gain an understanding of misconduct, and covered the following issues: • What is misconduct? • The causes of misconduct. • An overview of learner misconduct. • The origins of learner misconduct. • Manifestations of learner misconduct in the classroom. • The factors which cause learner misconduct. A qualitative research method was used in this research. The targeted population groups are teenagers in grades 9 and 10 in the Ntoane village. v Interviews were conducted at two schools in the Ntoane village where educators, the school governing bodies and members of the representative council of learners were interviewed. The findings were discussed at length to determine the research objectives. Conclusions were drawn after analysing these findings, and recommendations were formulated.
