Abstract:
Developments in high resolution traffic sensors over the past decades are providing a wealth of empirical speed-flow data. Travel demand models use speed-flow relationships to assign traffic flows to network links. However, speed-flow relationships have not been revalidated against new detailed traffic sensor data. Therefore, it is necessary to revisit speed-flow relationships based on actual measured conditions on network links rather than assuming constant speed-flow relationships over entire highway network systems. Speed-flow relationships have been particularly difficult to calibrate and

Abstract:
The results of this study show that novel mesoporous carbons were obtained as inverse replica of SBA-15, HMS and MCM-41 silica templates, with a large pore diameter (2-4 nm), a BET surface area of 1867, 874 and 910 m2g –1 respectively for CA_SBA-15_LPG_105, CA_HMS_LPG_80 and CA_MCM- 41_LPG_80 with bimodal pore size distribution (PSD) in the mesopores range. The results obtained show that mesoporous carbon with graphitic structures can be synthesized via the LPG route.

Abstract:
The focus of this project is highway construction zones and the impact of lane closures on traffic. By measuring throughput (the number of vehicles that can flow through a work zone in a given amount of time), analysis was performed to determine the factors that affect this value. Successful data collection uncovered a paradox. Often work zones would see no queuing, indicating the lane could have been closed for longer hours. Alternatively sites with forced flow allowed fewer vehicles through the site than expected, indicating that the design value is too high, requiring shorter lane closure h

Abstract:
Road safety and traffic congestion are two of the critical issues facing the transportation profession today. As a means to promote safety and efficiency at United States intersections modern roundabouts are becoming more and more common. Over the last ten years, roundabouts implementation methodologies have been developed using data collected at U.S. roundabouts. These methodologies were first published in National Cooperative Highway Report 572: Roundabouts in the United States and more recently in the second edition of the national roundabout guidelines. This work attempts to validate the
