Abstract:
We evaluated milk quality during the sheep dairy period in the year 2018. The study was performed at fifteen dairy farms with differed breeds and crossbreds under Slovakian usual practical conditions (milking and pasture). At the first and seventh farm purebred Tsigai (TS) ewes were kept, at the eight to twelve farm there were purebred Lacaune ewes (LC) and the thirteen farm were kept crossbred Improved Valachian x Lacaune ewes (IV/LC, with a higher proportion of Improved Valachian), the fourteen farm crossbred Lacaune x East Friesian ewes and the last farm were ewes of the synthetic population of Slovak dairy ewe (SD). The milk yield recording and milk sampling were performed once a month during evening milking as a part of milk recording services. The basic milk composition was determined by MilkoScan FT120 (Foss, Hillerød, Denmark) and somatic cell count was determined using a Fossomatic 90 (Foss Electric, Hillerød, Denmark) after heat treatment at 40 °C for 15 min. We found the highest incidence of SCC on farm 14 with crossbred LC/EF 3.940 x 103 cells.mL-1. Followed by farms 12 and 9 with purebred LC (SCC value of 3.318 and 2.489 x 103 cells.mL-1). Farm 7 with purebred TS reached the lowest value (831 x 103 cells.mL-1). The highest fat content was reached by the purebred TS, with gradual growth from March to July. Crossbreds and the synthetic population of Slovak dairy ewe (SD) had the lowest average fat content, which could be affected by feeding. Similar tendencies were found in protein content.

Abstract:
The article refers to the agricultural engineering and mechanization of agriculture, particularly to methods of ridges forming and designing the shaped work surface of hillers. The aim of the study is to design a working surface form of the hiller’s blade to form an air- permeable crests. This goal is achieved by the development of methods of designing the shaped work surface of the hiller. The article describes the sequence of design the shaped work surface of hiller. At the same time, we took into account the existing design techniques, taking into account the working conditions and terms of agronomic requirements, but also took into account the physical and mechanical properties of the soil, the conditions for the growth and development of the potato (and other cultures). The designed form of the working surface of the hiller’s blade forms an air - permeable crests with the least expenditure of energy and increases the yield by: lifting and crumbling of the soil, moving it up the dump, separation (screening) on a sieve placed between the legs and wings of solid blade, turning the soil to 90 ... 120 degrees, loosening the surface ridges and filling the weeds are in the protection area, the direction of erosive - the dangerous part (forming a crust on the ridges and increases its density) of the soil at the bottom of the furrow .

Abstract:
Milk and dairy products are major sources of minerals in human diet. Minerals influence milk technological properties; in particular, micellar and diffusible minerals differentially influence rennet clotting time, curd firmness and curd formation rate. The aim of the present study was to investigate the ability of mid-infrared spectroscopy to predict the content of micellar and diffusible mineral fractions in bovine milk. Spectra of reference milk samples (n = 93) were collected using Milkoscan™ 7 (Foss Electric A/S, Hillerød, Denmark) and total, diffusible and micellar content of minerals were quantified using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. Backward interval partial least squares algorithm was applied to exclude uninformative spectral regions and build prediction models for total, diffusible and micellar minerals content. Results showed that backward interval partial least squares analysis improved the predictive ability of the models for the studied traits compared with traditional partial least squares approach. Overall, the predictive ability of mid-infrared prediction models was moderate to low, with a ratio of performance to deviation in cross-validation that ranged from 1.15 for micellar K to 2.73 for total P.

Abstract:
The recent availability of a high-throughput milk analyzer performing a partial differential somatic cell count (DSCC) opened new opportunities in investigations on bovine udder health. This analyzer has a potential limitation on the accuracy of measurements when the somatic cell count (SCC) is below 50,000 cells/mL, values characterizing a good proportion of lactating cows in many herds. We obtained data for cows below this threshold, assessed the repeatability of these measurements and investigated the relationship between DSCC and udder health, milk composition and yield. Overall, 3022 cow milk test records performed on a Fossomatic™ 7/DC (Foss A/S, Hillerød, Denmark) were considered; 901 of them had an SCC ≤ 50,000 cells/mL. These latter samples were analyzed by qPCR to identify the presence of bacteria. Overall, 20.75% of the samples (187) were positive. However, the health status did not have any significant association with DSCC. The analysis of the association of DSCC on milk fat, protein and casein showed a significant decrease in their proportions as the DSCC increased, whereas it was not observed for milk yield and lactose. Therefore, DSCC in very low SCC cows may be suggested as a marker to identify early changes in milk composition.

Abstract:
Streptococcus pneumoniae urinary antigen tests (UATs) may be interpreted using automatic readers to potentially automate sample incubation and provide standardized results reading. Here, we evaluated four UATs the BinaxNOW S. pneumoniae Antigen Card (Abbott, Chicago, IL, USA), ImmuView S. pneumoniae and Legionella (SSI Diagnostica, Hillerød, Denmark), STANDARD F S. pneumoniae Ag FIA (SD Biosensor, Gyeonggi, South Korea), and Sofia S. pneumoniae FIA (Quidel Corporation, San Diego, CA, USA) with their respective benchtop readers for their ability to detect S. pneumoniae urinary antigen. We found that these assays had a sensitivity of 76.9–86.5%, and specificity of 84.2–89.7%, with no significant difference found among the four UATs. The assays had a high level of agreement with each other, with 84.5% of samples testing consistently across all four assays. The automatically and visually read test results from the two immunochromatographic assays, BinaxNOW and ImmuView, were compared and showed excellent agreement between the two types of reading. Immunofluorescent-based assays, Sofia and STANDARD F, had significantly less time to detect compared to the two immunochromatographic assays due to having less assay setup procedures and shorter sample incubation times. In conclusion, the four UATs performed similarly in the detection of S. pneumoniae urinary antigen, and readers can bring increased flexibility to running UATs in the clinical routine.

Abstract:
In 1956, Lejaren A. Hiller, Jr., and Leonard Isaacson debuted the Illiac Suite, the first score composed with a computer. Its reception anticipated Hiller’s embattled career as an experimental composer. Though the Suite is an influential work of modern electronic music, Hiller’s accomplishment in computational experimentation is above all an impressive feat of postwar conceptual performance art. A reexamination of theoretical and methodological processes resulting in the Illiac Suite reveals a conceptual and performative emphasis reflecting larger trends in the experimental visual arts of the 1950s and 1960s, illuminating his eventual collaborations with John Cage and establishing his legacy in digital art practices.

Abstract:
The aim of the current instant study was to evaluate relative at-line milk progesterone dynamic changes according to parity and status of reproduction and to estimate the relationship with productivity in dairy cows by at-line milk analysis system Herd NavigatorTM. According to the progesterone assay, experimental animals were divided into three periods: postpartum, after insemination, and pregnancy. In the first stage of the postpartum period, progesterone levels in milk were monitored every 5 days. This period of reproductive cycle recovery was followed for 30 days (days 0–29). The second stage of the postpartum period (30–65 days) lasted until cows were inseminated. In the period (0–45 days) after cow insemination, progesterone levels were distributed according to whether or not cows became pregnant. For milk progesterone detection, the fully automated real-time progesterone analyzer Herd NavigatorTM (Lattec I/S, Hillerød, Denmark) was used in combination with a DeLaval milking robot (DeLaval Inc., Tumba, Sweden). We found that an at-line progesterone concentration is related to different parities, reproductive statuses, and milk yield of cows: the 12.88% higher concentration of progesterone in milk was evaluated in primiparous cows. The average milk yield in non-pregnant primiparous cows was 4.64% higher, and in non-pregnant multiparous cows 6.87% higher than in pregnant cows. Pregnancy success in cows can be predicted 11–15 days after insemination, when a significant increase in progesterone is observed in the group of pregnant cows.

Abstract:
Abstract The 1920s and 1930s are commonly known as the Golden Age of Flight, but they also saw many experiments in rocketry. This article explores the symbolic traces that such early innovations in aerospace engineering left in the sociopolitical thinking of German writer Kurt Hiller (1885-1972). Particular attention is paid to the rhetorical potential of technological discourses in Hiller’s essays and speeches from the 1920s. The article shows how, as a public intellectual, Hiller was able to interlink scientific, religious, biological and political discourses. It furthermore demonstrates that Hiller rhetorically rejected linear scientific thinking in favour of the utopian promise of space travel. This defining opposition in his reasoning hinged on a topical switch from horizontal to vertical orientation, which underpinned his promulgation of a new type of socialist-meritocratic democracy. In this he mirrored the vertical thinking of his times by applying it in a distinctive way to his own sociopolitical writing and thought.

Abstract:
The aim of the current study was to evaluate the relation of automatically determined body condition score (BCS) and inline biomarkers such as β-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), milk yield (MY), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and progesterone (mP4) with the pregnancy success of cows. The cows (n = 281) had 2.1 ± 0.1. lactations on average, were 151.6 ± 0.06 days postpartum, and were once tested with “Easy scan” ultrasound (IMV imaging, Scotland) at 30–35 d post-insemination. According to their reproductive status, cows were grouped into two groups: non-pregnant (n = 194 or 69.0% of cows) and pregnant (n = 87 or 31.0% of cows). Data concerning their BCS, mP4, MY, BHB, and LDH were collected each day from the day of insemination for 7 days. The BCS was collected with body condition score camera (DeLaval Inc., Tumba, Sweden); mP4, MY, BHB, and LDH were collected with the fully automated real-time analyzer Herd Navigator™ (Lattec I/S, Hillerød, Denmark) in combination with a DeLaval milking robot (DeLaval Inc., Tumba, Sweden). Of all the biomarkers, three differences between groups were significant. The body condition score (BCS) of the pregnant cows was higher (+0.49 score), the milk yield (MY) was lower (−4.36 kg), and milk progesterone in pregnant cows was (+6.11 ng/mL) higher compared to the group of non-pregnant cows (p < 0.001). The pregnancy status of the cows was associated with their BCS assessment (p < 0.001). We estimated that cows with BCS > 3.2 were 22 times more likely to have reproductive success than cows with BCS ≤ 3.2.

Abstract:
Composite milk somatic cell counts (CMSCC) from four separate datasets, containing 3338, 350, 1408 and 1404 herds, were used. All herds were enrolled in the Norwegian Dairy Herd Recording System (NDHRS). The aim was to investigate associations between CMSCC at calving or prior to drying-off and future CMSCC in the remaining or subsequent lactation. CMSCC was determined using Fossomatic 5000® cell counters (Foss Electric, Hillerød, Denmark) according to IDF recommendations (International Dairy Federation, 1984) and a natural logarithmic transformation of the CMSCC data (lnCMSCC) was performed. Results obtained were arranged according to parity and lactation stage and regression models and general linear mixed models were applied, the latter model to account for clustering between herds. The best associations between CMSCC at calving or prior to drying-off and future CMSCC in the remaining or subsequent lactation were found by using at least two CMSCC test days after calving or prior to drying-off. The geometric mean of the second and third or the first three CMSCC test days explained 50% of the variation in future CMSCC in first parity cows. This information was accessible at 151 days in milk (DIM) in bimonthly tested herds, and at 87 DIM for monthly tested herds. There was not a large difference using two or three single consecutive weighted CMSCC test days compared with the geometric mean of two or three CMSCC test days. Our findings indicate the need of using at least two CMSCC test days and, if only one CMSCC test day is used, it should be obtained after 14 d post-calving or preferably after 30 DIM.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to compare the longevity and cariostatic effects of everyday conventional glass-ionomer and amalgam restorations in primary teeth. The materials consisted of 515 Ketac-Fil glass-ionomer restorations and 543 Dispersalloy amalgam restorations prepared in 666 children, from 3 to 13 years of age, by 14 dentists within the Danish Public Dental Health Service in the municipalities of Vaerlose and Hillerød. The restorations, of which 79% were of the Class II type, were in contact with 593 unrestored surfaces in adjacent primary and permanent teeth. After 3 years, 6% of the patients had dropped out of the study, and 33% of the teeth were exfoliated with the restoration in situ. A further 37% of the glass-ionomer and 18% of the amalgam restorations were recorded as failed (p < 0.001). The frequency of failures was highest for Class II glass-ionomer restorations, which showed a 50% median survival time of only 34½ months, because of many fractures, while the 75% survival time for Class II amalgam restorations just exceeded the actual 36 months (p < 0.001). Caries progression was most often recorded in surfaces adjacent to amalgam restorations, and 21% of these surfaces needed restorative treatment vs. 12% of the surfaces adjacent to glass-ionomer restorations (p < 0.01). The three-year results indicated that conventional glass ionomer is not an appropriate alternative to amalgam for all types of restorations in primary teeth. In particular, the short longevity of Class II glass-ionomer restorations could not be compensated for by the reduced caries progression and need for restorative therapy of adjacent surfaces.

IntroductionOne in three Danish children under 3 years of age experience asthma-like symptoms, and one-third will later be diagnosed with asthma. Oral prednisolone is used in various formulations to treat acute asthma. However, the potential differences in bioequivalence between these formulations have never been examined in children despite interchangeable use in clinical practice. Methods and analysisAn open-label, randomised, two-treatment cross-over trial investigating the bioequivalence of different prednisolone formulations in children with airway disease. The included patients (6 months–11 years of age) are admitted to the Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine Nordsjællands University Hospital, Hillerød, with asthma or asthma-like symptoms. The primary objective is to assess the bioequivalence between different prednisolone formulations herein area under the concentration time curve, Cmax and Tmax using saliva samples. The secondary objectives are to evaluate tolerability (five-point face scale), adverse events and severity of the disease. If the patient has an intravenous access for other purposes, the saliva samples will be validated with plasma samples.A total of 66 evaluable patients are needed according to European Medicines Agency Guideline on bioequivalence.Ethics and disseminationTraditional pharmacokinetic trials are burdensome due to the extent of blood samples necessary to capture the time-dependant drug profile. Saliva sampling is far more acceptable for paediatric patients. In addition, this trial adheres to standard dosing strategies. No additional venepunctures are performed, and no additional prednisolone doses are administered.Guidelines for paediatric bioequivalence trials are warranted.Trial registration numberThe Danish Medicines Agency EudraCT: 2017-003590-33, The Ethics Committee case no: H-17027252, and the Danish Data Protection Agency: BFH-2017–103, I-Suite no.: 05935.

Abstract:
Abstract Context Pubertal timing in boys is associated with body mass index (BMI). Studies consistently report an inverse correlation of BMI and pubertal timing within the normal BMI range. However, observations in obese boys are conflicting with different studies reporting either early or delayed pubertal onset in obese boys. Objective We aimed to assess the association of male pubertal timing with age-specific BMI (zBMI) in obese boys. Design, Setting, and Participants A total of 218 obese boys (zBMI > +2SD, with a median age at baseline of 10.8 years (range 4.2–17.0), were recruited as part of a prospective outpatient childhood obesity intervention program at Nordsjællands Hospital, Hillerød, Denmark, between 2009 and 2017. Serving as controls, we included 660 healthy boys participating in the population-based COPENHAGEN Puberty Study (-2SD < zBMI ≤ +2SD, 2006–2014). Subanalyses were performed on overweight controls (+1SD < zBMI ≤ +2SD). The clinical assessment of pubertal development by Tanner staging, including testis volume using a Prader’s orchidometer, was performed by trained physicians. The timing of pubertal milestones was estimated by probit analyses. Main Outcome Measures Timing of testicular volume ≥ 4 mL, genital stage ≥ 2, and pubarche. Results The mean (95% confidence interval [CI]) age of onset of pubertal event in obese boys was as follows: testicular volume ≥ 4 mL, 11.3 years (11.0–11.6); genital stage ≥ 2, 11.6 yrs (11.3–11.9); and pubarche, 11.9 years (11.5–12.3). Testicular volume ≥ 4 mL occurred significantly earlier in obese boys compared to controls (-2SD < zBMI ≤ +2SD) (P = 0.01). We did not observe significant differences for either the timing of pubarche nor the genital stage ≥ 2 (P = 0.06 and P = 0.94, respectively) Conclusions We demonstrate that testicular enlargement in obese boys occurs significantly earlier compared to a population-based normal-weight reference cohort.

ObjectiveTo examine predefined risk factors and outcome of seizures in community-acquired bacterial meningitis (CABM).DesignObservational cohort studiesSettingDenmarkParticipantsIn the derivation cohort, we retrospectively included all adults (>15 years of age) with CABM in North Denmark Region from 1998 to 2014 and at Hvidovre and Hillerød hospitals from 2003 to 2014. In the validation cohort, we prospectively included all adults (>18 years of age) with CABM treated at all departments of infectious diseases in Denmark from 2015 to 2017.Primary and secondary outcome measuresIn the derivation cohort, we used modified Poisson regression to compute adjusted relative risks (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals for predefined risk factors for seizures during CABM as well as for risks of death and unfavourable outcome assessed by the Glasgow Outcome Scale score (1-4). Next, results were validated in the validation cohort.ResultsIn the derivation cohort (n=358), risk factors for seizures at any time were pneumococcal aetiology (RR 1.69, 1.01–2.83) and abnormal cranial imaging (RR 2.27, 1.46–3.53), while the impact of age >65 years and immunocompromise was more uncertain. Examining seizures occurring after admission, risk factors were abnormal cranial imaging (RR 2.23, 1.40–3.54) and immunocompromise (RR 1.59, 1.01–2.50). Seizures at any time were associated with increased risks of in-hospital mortality (RR 1.45, 1.01–2.09) and unfavourable outcome at discharge (RR 1.27, 1.02–1.60). In the validation cohort (n=379), pneumococcal aetiology (RR 1.69, 1.10–2.59) and abnormal cranial imaging (RR 1.68, 1.09–2.59) were confirmed as risk factors for seizures at any time. For seizures occurring after admission, only pneumococcal meningitis (RR 1.92, 1.12–3.29) remained significant. Seizures at any time were also associated with in-hospital mortality (RR 3.26, 1.83–5.80) and unfavourable outcome (RR 1.23, 1.00–1.52) in this cohort.ConclusionsPneumococcal aetiology, immunocompromise and abnormal cranial imaging were risk factors for seizures in CABM. Seizures were strongly associated with mortality and unfavourable outcome.

Abstract:
Introduction In 1917, Alma Hiller became the first woman to publish in the Journal of Urology ( JU). Her contribution was followed by articles from Carol Beeler and Isabel Mary Wason. This study explores their careers and contributions. Methods We reviewed JU articles from 1917 to 1925 and identified Hiller, Beeler, and Wason as the first three women authors. Using public records, we obtained information of their educations and careers. Results Hiller demonstrated resilience in obtaining training and ultimately contributed to innovation in clinical chemistry. Beeler worked on research on metabolic physiology. Wason influenced both lab work and national policy. Conclusions For female scientists entering the workforce in the late 1800s/early 1900s, reception was contingent upon the acceptance of male colleagues. Despite these barriers, Hiller, Beeler, and Wason contributed to novel discoveries. Their most influential contributions remain their historic presence as early female researchers and the first female authors in JU.

Abstract:
Currently 14 Phrynobatrachus species are known to occur in Guinea (Frétey 2008; Frost 2011). The recently discovered species, Phrynobatrachus pintoi Hillers, Zimkus and Rödel, 2008, was described from the Boké region, north-western Guinea (Hillers et al. 2008). Although this description comprised distinct morphological and genetic characters, it was only based on one, subadult specimen. Further data on the species morphological variability, its biology and distribution, are thus needed. During a survey from 28 September to 20 October 2010 in the Télimélé region, north-western Guinea, we recorded this species at three additional localities. The respective data are presented herein.

Abstract:
The epidemiology of sprains in the lateral ankle and foot was investigated in a prospective study at the casualty ward at Hillerad County Hospital. During one year, 766 patients were registered. The overall sprain incidence was 7/1000 person-years. The incidence was highest for young males. After the age of 40 years, the incidence was higher for women than for men. Most sprains were sustained during sport, but, with increasing age, other activities became dominant. Sixty-one percent of the lesions were located around the lateral ankle, and 24% were located on the lateral midfoot.

Abstract:
The 0.65Ca0.61La0.26TiO3-0.35Sm(Mg0.5Ti0.5)O3[0.65CLT-0.35SMT] ceramic was prepared by the solid-state reaction method. The effects of sintering process on its microstructure and grain growth behavior were investigated. The Hillert model and a simplified Sellars model were established by linear regression, and the Sellars-Anelli model with a time index was established by using a nonlinear regression method. The results show that the grain size gradually increases with the increase of sintering temperature and holding time. Meanwhile, the sintering temperature has a more significant effect on the grain growth. The grain sizes of 0.65CLT-0.35SMT ceramic were predicted by the three models and compared with the experimentally measured grain size. The results indicate that for the 0.65CLT-0.35SMT ceramic, the Hillert model has the lowest prediction accuracy and the Sellars-Anelli model, the highest prediction accuracy. In this work, the Sellars-Anelli model can effectively predict the grain growth process of 0.65CLT-0.35SMT ceramic.

Abstract:
In this article I assert that our modern understanding of the singspiel as a genre has been shaped not by eighteenth-century principles but rather by nineteenth-century notions of ‘romantic’ German opera. In contrast to a later through-composed ideal, Johann Adam Hiller’s comic operas, often viewed as the prototype of the German comic genre, were designed precisely in order that the songs might easily be detached from the spoken dialogue, disseminated outside of the public opera house and sung by audiences in various other contexts. The express purpose of these songs, as articulated by librettist Christian Felix Weisse, was to promote communal singing in social circles across Germany. The genre was thus designed for circulation within what Habermas describes as the public sphere: a conceptual space between the State and the private home in which texts, ideas and musical works were circulated and debated.Composed in what was called the German Volkston (in the manner of the Volk), Hiller’s melodies are recorded as being sung and played throughout the streets and parks of major German cities and became so popular that they became known as folksongs. This idea of the Volk as a collective entity and of the Volkston, however, was rooted in a deeper sense of the public as nation. Inspired by Le devin du village and J. J. Rousseau’s writings on politics, language and the fine arts, Weisse and Hiller’s operas employ the pastoral mode, in which idealized peasants sing in the manner of a folksong. The idyllic simplicity of these early German-language comic operas appealed to a diversified German audience by affirming their roots, the public use of their language and their morally upright character as a nation. Thus comic opera as a genre was circulated within the public sphere with the intention of transcending the boundaries of social class to unite the German nation in song.

Abstract:
On the basis of Hillerts model of grain growth, a new model of Goss secondary recrystallization in silicon steel has been developed in which inhibitor and grain boundary energy are taken into account. An analysis shows that these two parameters synergistically affect secondary recrystallization and Goss grain evolves to a coarse grain as inhibitor intensity increases and statistical grain boundary energy decreases. This model successfully explains Goss secondary recrystallization.

Abstract:
The results of the calculation of the thermodynamic properties for liquid Ga-Sb-Tl alloys at the temperature 1073 K are presented in this paper. Initially, the most appropriate thermodynamic model for the investigated system was selected. Based on a comparison of the values calculated by different geometric models (Kohler, Muggianu, Toop, Hillert, Chou) with the existing experimental based data, asymmetric models of calculation were determined to give the best results. The asymmetric nature of the investigated ternary system was additionally confirmed by the Chou similarity coefficient concept. For these reasons, further complete thermodynamic calculations were performed according to the Hillert model in five sections of the ternary Ga-Sb-Tl system from each corner with the mole ratio of other two components being 9:1; 7:3; 5:5; 3:7 and 1:9. The obtained results include integral excess Gibbs energy dependences on composition for all the investigated sections. The calculated activity values at 1073 K for all components are given in the form of isoactivity diagrams. Comparison between the calculated and experimentally obtained gallium activities shows good agreement.

Abstract:
A three-dimensional (3D) multi-phase field model was established to simulate normal grain growth in pure iron. The advanced visualization technology was used to extract the related data for individual grains, which can clearly display the grain morphology with distinct grain boundary surface as well as the space distribution of neighboring grains?Based on the simulation results, the grain growth kinetics model was described, which is in conformity with Burke and Turnbull?s parabolic law. The phenomenon of a ?Hillert regime? in 3D grain growth and the topological transformation mechanism were investigated. The grain size distributions under different time evolution showed a good agreement with the Hillert distribution. The details of grain growth, especially grain size distribution and volume growth rate, were analyzed. The models of von Neumann-Mullins and Hilgensfeldt for predicting the volumetric growth rate were compared. The volumetric growth rate was approximately zero when the number of grain sides was close to 13.7. The multi-phase field simulation can be used to analyze the dynamic evolution of the topological relationship of grains and reveal the general law of normal grain growth quantitatively.
