Abstract This article focuses on how Hindu nationalists interpret the term ‘secularism’ in Hindi. I will refer to two Hindi translations of ‘secularism’: dharmnirpekṣtā and panthnirpekṣtā. The first one means indifference towards religion and the second indifference towards communities. My main point is that the Hindu nationalists’ strategy of referring to old, Sanskrit meanings of dharm (which means ‘law’ and ‘order’ aside ‘religion’ and other concepts) make it possible for them to criticise dharmnirpekṣtā and choose panthnirpekṣtā instead. Their position is that the state can only be ind

Abstract:
This thesis problematises the treatment of gender in judicial reasoning in the cases decided under Hindu custody law in Indian courts. India has several religious personal laws to regulate the lives of its citizens. Of these, Hindu law governs the personal lives of about 800 million people in India and forms the largest set of personal laws. It is largely based on Common Law Principles, due to colonial influence at the time of its codification. However, there has been limited research on case law in this area of law, especially in terms of analysing gender in these judgments. This thesis takes

While extant literature exploring the drivers and constraints of RE adoption follow two distinct strands of analysis pertaining to the demand and supply side factors, efforts to integrate both sides into a holistic framework for RE adoption are both new and rare. This technical note proposes a multidimensional approach of developing such a framework for identifying and leveraging RE opportunities specific to the HKH context.
