Svensk hiphop är en växande genre som kan tolkas ha koppling till socialt utsatta ytterstadsområden. Syftet med föreliggande arbete är att kartlägga och analysera innehållet i utvalda svenska hiphoplåtar. I studien analyserades svenska hiphoptexter i form av två delstudier. Den första bestod av en översikt av 100 hiphoplåtar för att kartlägga olika temans förekomst, och den andra delstudien var en fördjupad analys av tio låtar. Empirin analyserades med stöd av tidigare forskning och begreppen territoriell stigmatisering, machokultur och varumärkesbyggande. Resultatet från studien visar att det finns drag av territoriell stigmatisering och machokultur i låtarna, likväl som ett varumärkesbyggande gällande förorten. Studien skulle kunna förstås ge viss inblick i de tematiska drag som återfinns inom svensk hiphop. Diskussion fördes bland annat kring vilka möjliga konsekvenser hiphoptexter kan ha för de unga män som lyssnar på denna typ av musik.<br>Swedish hip hop is a growing genre that can be understood to be connected with socially stigmatized areas. The purpose of this work is to map out and analyze the content of chosen Swedish hip hop songs. In the study Swedish hip hop lyrics were analyzed in two parts. The first one was an outline of 100 hip hop songs in order to map out the occurrence of different themes, and the second one was an in-depth analysis of ten songs. The material were analyzed with help of previous research and the theoretical concepts territorial stigmatization, macho culture and branding. The result of the study shows that there’s aspects of territorial stigmatization and macho culture within the songs, as well as branding regarding the Projects. The study can be understood to give some insight through the thematic features that can be found within Swedish hip hop. Among other things the possible consequences for the young men listening to this type of music were discussed.

Den här uppsatsen är avsedd till att sätta retoriken i musiktexter i fokus. Syftet är att undersöka vilka berättelser och verklighetsbeskrivningar om livet i förorten, som framförs i Kartellens hiphoptexter. Sammantaget har fyra hiphoptexter valts, där Sonja Foss analysmodell är central i uppsatsen. De olika dimensioner av narrativet som analyseras är: plats, karaktärer, berättare, handlingar, temporala relationer, kasuala relationer, publik och tema. Samtliga dimensioner är  relevanta att undersöka då narrativ syftar till att påverka en publik till att tro på den slutsats som finns i berättelsen eller till att förstärka ett givet perspektiv som publiken besitter och kanske även till att förändra ett perspektiv hos publiken. Ett av dem viktigaste resultaten som framkom var att igenkänning också är viktig, det behöver inte handla om total identifikation alla gånger. Igenkänning gör att vi förstår, kan relatera till och därmed bli påverkade av berättelsen.

Syftet med föreliggande uppsats var att undersöka vilka sociala problem på de norrländskalandsbygderna som skildras i svenska hiphoptexter, hur de framställs samt på vilket sätt dekan förstås. För att besvara uppsatsens syfte tillämpades en kvalitativ innehållsanalys för attsystematisera det empiriska materialet som texterna utgjorde. För att nå en djupare förståelseför de levnadsförhållanden som skapat sociala problem genomfördes en kvalitativ textanalysutifrån teorierna och begreppen social exkludering, etablerade och outsiders, territoriellstigmatisering samt identitet och skam. Resultaten visade att följande sociala problem skildrasav norrländska hiphopartister: missbruk av alkohol och narkotika, narkotikabruk, ensamhet,psykisk ohälsa, socioekonomiska missförhållanden, kriminalitet och rasism. I analysen avtexterna framkom det även att levnadsförhållandena påverkades av faktorer som fördomarriktade mot Norrland, resursfördelning samt interna intressekonflikter, vilka inte kandefinieras som sociala problem, men som tycktes inverka på artisternas utsagor. Fördomarnasom skildrades i texterna riktade mot de norrländska landsbygderna gav upphov till två olikasätt att reagera; att känna skam eller att mobilisera sig.

The present study explores how representations of an underclass in Sweden is being constructed and negotiated by a diversity of so-called spokesmen of an existing underclass in Sweden within the Swedish hiphop genre. In their song lyrics, they state to speak up for an underclass in Sweden. They are, a strategically selected Swedish hiphop collective, Kartellen, whose song lyrics constitutes the study’s empirical material. Through a qualitative approach, inspired by the discourse theorists Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe the analysis critically investigates and elucidates how the representation is being carried out and through their use of language. The empirical material has firstly been deconstructed and after that, analyzed within a discourse theoretical framework, consisting of postmarxist and poststructuralist influences. More specifically it aims to focus on statements regarding and constructing the prior group and representation of an underclass by exposing how it has been articulated and further represented. The study shows that there is a tendency to describe an underclass based on a leftist discourse consisting of a series of political manifestations. There are in addition, competing articulations concerning terms of alienation and nation present in the song lyrics. Moreover, descriptions of an underclass as a homogeneous group are given from their exclusive position of the social community, which neglects differentiations. This creates an ambiguous representation, reflecting on the arbitrariness of the use of language and therefore, exposes the risk of the representations’ fictive nature.

The study is divided into two different parts, the first of which analyzes general themes, categories and concepts in hip hop texts through an overview of 50 different songs. The second study analyzes five popular hip hop texts based on a qualitative text analysis.<br>Den här studien undersöker hur svenska hiphoptexter mellan åren 2019–2020 skildrar det sociala livet i förorten. Undersökningen är uppdelad i två olika delar, varav den första analyserar generella teman, kategorier och begrepp i hiphoptexter genom en översiktslyssning av 50 olika låtar. This study examines how Swedish hip hop lyrics from the 1990s and 2010s portrays the social life, first and foremost in the suburb. The study consists of two parts, the first is a more general study of which themes and categories appear in the lyrics through an overview of 90 different hip hop songs. The second part of the study is focusing on analyzing different processes in change from the 1990s to the 2010s hip hop lyrics. The material of this part consists of 5 songs from the 1990s and 5 songs from the 2010s, that through a qualitative text analysis presents different changes in discourses.
