Study of these sub-departmental demographic transitions shows a strong territorial cohesion, that appeard to be more determinant than fators as population size of main professional activity. This was the case for all demographic behavior: mortality, general fertility and migration. Actuel des-urbanization has changed the sign of most of the determinants, but it didn't change the geographic predominance of demographic behavior

Full textThis research analyses how social spaces, political spaces and electoral behaviour are interrelated and interacting in urban context. It focuses on a particular urban area within the parisian region : the department of hauts-de-seine. The political and electoral history of this area can be divided into three main stages. For each of theses stages, the research studies what are the levels of interpretation which are the most appropriate to analyse the local political society. Since 1965, the old socio-spatial dichotomy witch opposed the communist party to the gaullist party has progressively been transformed. The recent local politicial landscape has been modified, due to two main processes : on one side, the creation of a new socialist party, succeding to and partly contrasting with the old sfio, and, on the other side, the modernization of the gaullist apparatus

Full textThe history of the seigneurial administration of montpellier is studied from its formation under the rule of the guillems (especially from ca. 1100) to its phase of establishment under the rule of jacques i, king of aragon. In the 12th century, the guillems rose to the rank of territorial princes in lower languedoc, basing themselves on the economic prosperity of the town of montpellier. For this purpose, they introduced and used feudalism (feud-vassalic tie) systematically and other innovations for the expansion and the effective administration of their domains. We can see here the influence of catalonia, on account of the political and economical relations, which were very intimate since the preceding century, between montpellier and barcelona. At the beginning of 13th century, a consulate was established, taking advantage of the dynastic change of lordship (peter ii, king of aragon, became lord of montpellier by his marriage to mary, who was the sole legitimate heiress of the guillems). The first three decades of this century saw the realization of a town republic, almost free of the lordship, in montpellier. This exceptional period passed and james i, son of peter ii, recovered and consolidated his power in montpellier and its region to establish

Full textThis historical survey is based on a close reading of the major papers of the local press in Montpellier and on an investigation conducted in several local branches of the Public Records Office. Its one and only purpose is to achieve a synthesis of the situation of the Jews under the Vichy régime in the Hérault départment (administrative division). A systematic and comprehensive analysis of all articles relating to the Jews in "Le Petit Méridional", "L'Eclair" and "La Croix Méridionale" has made it possible to highlight the image of them conveyed therein within the context of the official antisemite propaganda. In this three-point study, the second point sheds light on the living condition of the many foreign Jews that had found refuge in more than sixty towns and villages before thet were incorporated in so-called "Groupements de travailleurs étrangers" (Grouping of foreign workers), kept as civilian internees in the Agde camp, then sent to other camps and eventually deported. The third and last point of this research work aims at assessing the extent of the spoliations French jews were the victims of and it analyses the part played in the fight for survival by the Jewish organisations and the "Justs among the Nations"
