This paper develops a model in which the evolution of the transport sector occurs alongside the growth in trade and output of agricultural and manufacturing firms. Simulation output captures aspects of the historical record of England and Wales over 1710–1881. A number of counterfactuals demonstrate the role that the timing and spatial distribution of infrastructure development play in determining the timing of takeoff. There can be a role for policy in accelerating takeoff through improving infrastructure, but the spatial distribution of that improvement matters. (JEL H54, N53, N63, N73, N93,

Today, in the 21st century within the context of the neoliberal market, architecture has become a tool of capital, demanding minimal investment with maximum spatial and environmental performance. Permanent changes that follow the rapid development of an information-based society imply an infrastructural take on the architectural composition, which has become increasingly programmatically unstable and market driven. Therefore today, an architectural composition traditionally understood as a set of part to-whole relations on three basic levels: form, function (program and its performance) and st

Ecological, economic and social processes taking place in the last decades are examined in the context of the development of local self-governments and the rise of free market economy after Poland’s socio-economic transformation. The process of intensive rural urbanization occurs especially in areas within the impact zone of big cities. It is caused by, i.a., human migration into rural areas and development of areas of business activation.
