In the context of the rapid development of China's urbanization economy and the current situation of 'hollow villages' era., how to effectively inherit and protect the Chinese traditional villages as cultural heritage is an important issue for China’s beautiful rural construction. The economic development of villages is based on the reasonable configuration of business, as an important carrier of the layout of the format，the architectural space and street space of the village are linked together for analysis and research, so as to achieve the 'win-win' effect of high-quality business form and the rational use and protection of historical building space.This paper takes Pingshan Village, a famous historical and cultural village in Yi county, China, as the research object, collects data through historical record, on-site investigations and interviews, and uses geographic information technology, point of interest combing and spatial syntax analysis to study the spatial characteristics of the current status of the Pingshan Village’s commercial concentrated water street. Besides, this paper makes quantitative analysis of the number of business forms in JiyangXi water street, spatial analysis of the commercial layout, and fixed-point analysis of the flow of people. With the results above, this paper takes correlation analysis on the results of analyzing spatial characteristics and the layout of business forms, draws up the advantages and disadvantages of the main commercial space layout of Pingshan Village as well as the optimization strategy, thereby reaches the design suggestions on the adjustment of the business forms in different spaces in traditional village planning.

Shanxi ancient villages and towns have a prominent representative in the historical and cultural dwellings in the Yellow River Valley. Based on the field research, this paper summarizes the experience in the protection and exploitation of Shanxi’s ancient villages into four modes, which mainly include the Jingsheng Mode, based on the county level’s fiscal revenue, the ancient Zhangbi Model driven by the county’s economy, the Huangcheng village Model developed by its rural economy, and the Shangzhuang Village’s Protective model based mainly on investment from individuals. These protection and development modes have achieved some initial results. In contrast with these, some historical towns represented by Ancient Town of Qikou are facing adverse conditions for emphasizing the protection too much to expand themselves. This paper will come up with a brief way for development.

This study discusses the leadership and the independence system of Javanese villages in the Past. In maritime village communities - agrarian, there are people who are trusted to lead, with the dynamics of independence. The village naturally regulates its own community based on village bound. The village burden is related to the demands of interests originating from the colonial supra village, forcing the village to be burdened with the interests of supplying goods for the needs of the world market by intensifying feudal housing. This topic is relevant to the village funding program, empowerment of rural communities with substantial funds, but in the implementation, it is still half-hearted because there is no complete belief that the village has actually been proven capable of taking care of itself and meeting its own needs. To discuss this problem, the historical method is used by reviewing important books specifically discussing villages. The results of the study provide evidence that maritime agrarian villages in Java already have leadership independence that practices in managing and meeting among the villagers. Thus, it is undoubted about the ability to channeling the village funds.

ABSTRACT Background A ‘healthy village’ concept as a healthy setting approach is lacking in India, where approximately 70% of population lives in villages. Despite various village development programs, the quality of life in Indian villages continues to be poor. Objective To evaluate some villages in district Ambala as healthy villages. Materials and methods This cross-sectional study of seven villages under a sub center was conducted during January to April 2010. These villages were compared on the basis of scores obtained on a checklist developed for evaluating ‘healthy village’. The village headmen, committee members, various health workers, accredited social health activists and anganwadi workers were also interviewed. Results The sub center headquarter, the largest village, scored maximum among seven villages (90/130; 69.2%). Lowest score was observed in the smallest village (49/130; 37.7%). Most villages faired poorly on intersectoral coordination, youth activities, and historical/cultural heritage. Performance of all villages on ‘availability of basic statistics’ and ‘animal shelter’ was excellent. Conclusion Apparently, population size of a village was linked with its being a healthy village. Heritage villages within UNESCO World Heritage Sites are often associated with natural, cultural and social characteristics of the urban and sub-urban fabric of the previous era. Kampung Morten, Melaka and Ogimachi Village, Shirakawa-go, Gifu each constitute important historical evidence in and of themselves. The villages have existed since the 11th century and each has a strong sense of community. Their traditional social systems and lifestyle customs have sustained the traditional houses and their associated historic environments. The integrity of the nominated areas in both villages is related to the presence of all the elements necessary to express their outstanding example of type of building, architectural or technological ensemble or landscape which illustrates their significant stages in human history. The villages have retained their authenticity; listed monuments and sites have been restored with appropriate treatments regarding design, materials, methodologies, techniques and workmanship, in accordance with conservation guidelines and principles. In the Udmurt diaspora of Northern Bashkortostan, the Udmurt traditional religion is very much alive; it is part of the villagers’ everyday life. Rituals are regularly held both at the village level and at a wider community, composed of several villages, and they involve the whole population. This article focuses on the key character of Udmurt ritual: the sacrificial priest, called vös’as’, and attempts to sketch a pattern of function performing and transmission, taking into account the lightly different practice in two local groups of villages. Further on it reflects on its historical perspective, in a Finno-Ugric context in which often practice of ethnic religions is seen and/or used as a marker for ethnicity.

Previously, several toponymy studies have already been conducted both in the Nusa (Island) Ambon as well as in the City of Ambon. However, previous studies have not used the historical-archaeological approach. The use of this approach could ease the researchers to reveal the cross-cultural meeting in a specific locus. Taking the Island of Ambon as a locus, the researchers aim to find the origin of village names and the cultural intersection in Leihitu and Leitimor Peninsula. There were three steps conducted to collect and analyse data using historical-archaeological approach. Firstly, the researchers identified and took a tabulation of the village names, mentioned by the Hikayat Tanah Hitu (The Epic of Hitu Land) and three ancient maps. Secondly, the researchers identified various archaeological remains located in the scattered villages. Finally, the researchers analysed the origin of village names by searching the word-meanings, finding the present locations, and describing the role of the contemporary cultures (Islamic and Colonial period) in the past. The researchers found 12 villages with 22 archaeological remains. All related communities have the archaeological remains which could explain the local dynamics, but there are merely ten villages which name meanings could be identified.

The life skills values prevalent among the peasants’ society in the past can be integrated into the content of life skills subject in the historical learning given to students. The expansion of plant products export in the era of Dutch Colonial was significant in the emergence of some changes in the socio-economic life of the peasant and villagers in Java. They were further immersed into the flow of commercialism. The issue in this article is how the response of the farmers to those changes. As an object of observation, this article took the object of study of village areas in Afedeeling Purwerodjo in the beginning of the twentieth century. The methodology used in this article was historical method involving the processes of heuristic, critiques of resources, interpretation, and historiography.The theoretical framework used in this article was dialectics between the assumption that the change of the socio-economic life in the villages into commercialism was a prolong nightmare for the villagers and the assumption that the changed socio-economic life of the villages into commercialism brought new economic opportunities for the villagers. The conclusion was commercialism resulted in rationality and prosperity for the farmers. The peasants would spend their time and energy more efficiently to exploit the new opportunities given. The rational considerations were more determining than the social motivation in terms of decision making. The peasants had the life skills to create beneficial alternative economic resources to support their lives in the middle of a greater flow of foreign plantation commercialism.

The current study on the micro level of single-building protection and repair is relatively complete, however, the discussion about elements of cultural heritage and their relevance among the ancient villages is comparably insufficient. The protection work is strongly influenced by tourism development and cultural gimmick, thus resulting in low protection efficiency and many omissions. Historical village as the cultural settlement patterns bears a large number of heritage relics. They were regionally scattered with a clear characteristic of gathering. The article takes these four historical villages in Mian Moutain as an example, relying on the historical time period theory, then tries to look for the association and similarities of the forming mechanism between villages. The article discusses the integrated conservation from three levels: the regional heritage conservation, the cultural line shaping, and the featured brand building.

The article considers the historical and cultural heritage of villages of the former Ketskaya volost, which is currently a part of the Tomsk region. The formation of Ketsky prison and the architecture of large settlements of the former Ketskaya volost are studied. Little is known about the historical and cultural heritage of villages of the Tomsk region and the problems of preserving historical settlements of the country.The aim of this work is to study the formation and development of the village architecture of the former Ketskaya volost, currently included in the Tomsk region.The following scientific methods are used: a critical analysis of the literature, comparative architectural analysis and systems analysis of information, creative synthesis of the findings. The obtained results can be used in preparation of lectures, reports and communication on the history of the Siberian architecture.The scientific novelty is a study of the historical and cultural heritage of large settlements of the former Ketskaya volost, which has not been studied and published before. The methodological and theoretical basis of the study is theoretical works of historians and architects regarding the issue under study as well as the previous author’s work in the field.It is found that the historical and cultural heritage of the villages of the former Ketskaya volost has a rich history. Old historical buildings, including religious ones are preserved in villages of Togur and Novoilinka. The urban planning of the villages reflects the design and construction principles of the 18th century. The rich natural environment gives this area a special touch.

Christian missionaries found Vietnam a spiritual country, and many Vietnamese converted to Christianity. On the other hand, during history, the Christian religious identity has brought various tensions due to the issues of colonialism, nationalism, and communism. Most Vietnamese Christians lived in pure Christian villages (lang cong giao toan tong) or mixed villages with Christians accounting for about a half of the population (lang cong giao xoi do). They have played an important role in the social, economic and cultural life of these villages. This article presents the historical background of a mixed village called Phung Khoang, contrasting the Christian vs. non-Christian cultural-religious views, and then discussing both the collaboration and tension played out over various historical periods.

New rural construction indeed do some good for common villages but still destroy hundreds and thousands traditional village which contain great cultural, science, artistic values. In addition, traditional villages can't meet the increasing needs in more convenient and comfortable living conditions. Increasing population also makes traditional villages out of control in construction. With the background of this, we have to set up in traditional village protection. This article put forward an idea in protection which make use of landscape localization to pursue the sustainable development and vernacular landscape protection. Tangyin Town is a famous trade center in history and left many cultural heritage, especially historical buildings. Take Tangyin as a case study to apply the localization method which could guide other similar villages to achieve same goals.

This article discusses the history of the disaster that struck the Bulak Village in the area of Jepara, Central Java, Indonesia in the 1971-2000s period. Disasters that continue to occur in the village of Bulak force villagers to move to the new village location. The new village was named after Desa Bulak Baru as a sign that the name of Desa Bulak Baru was not part of the expansion of the old village, but as a collective memory of the name of their previous village. To see that change, the writer sees it in the lens of migration in the local definition, namely village bedol. Bedol Desa is a term for the people of the villages in Java who migrate. The study of village bedol events in the perspective of social history studies. In 1981 a village bedol event occurred in Bulak Village, Jepara Regency. The destination of the bedol desa is the location Desa Bulak Baru. Naming that includes a change of identity, but does not eliminate the old name as the historical basis of a Bulak Village. The method used in this study is the historical method, which includes: (1) heuristics or source tracking, (2) source criticism to verify the information obtained, (3) analysis, and (4) historiography or historical writing.

Based on long term ethnographic work with the Saamaka, and with the benefit of hindsight, this paper unpacks the specific ways in which the descendants of these Suriname Maroons have constructed and transmitted the historical knowledge of their 18th-century ancestors, who escaped slave plantations and confronted the colonial powers from their new settlements in the depth of the forest. In the process, they created an original memory of these historical events— First-Time or Fesiten knowledge—and managed to keep it alive. The article explores the specific ontology, frames and idioms of this historical knowledge, as well as its ideological role, the (dis)connections to hegemonic colonial memory devices, its evolution in time, the ways of transmission, and the memory specialists that have kept and circulated it.

The purpose of the study is to summarize environmental strategies and technologies for promoting better sustainable development of historical villages. The environmental investigation took Huaiyin village in china as a case, put forward tourism exploitation as the most suitable sustainable mode, and established an interactive circulating mechanism of protection, management and renovation. Based on the environmental elements framework, the specific development technologies can be divided into three areas: nonphysical environment, man-made environment and natural environment, including intangible cultural heritage protection, cultural value management, renovation of buildings, public space and traffic, the river system and greening improvement and environmental bearing capacity control. The results show that all these measures contribute to achieve the sustainable mode core – “symbiosis” of historical village’s spirit, morphology and ecology.

It is an original perspective for the research on the interactions between the functions and spaces of traditional villages, also for the analysis on the development of traditional villages, to explain the social and cultural phenomena on the aspects of space introducing the method of functionalism. In this paper, the important buildings and the environment spaces are divided into four types, taking a case study in a traditional village in the south of Zhejiang Province in China. The surname is a cultural trait that is extremely useful for historical and linguistic studies and can effectively be used as a genetic marker. In many human populations the surname is inherited in the paternal lineage, and can therefore be considered a marker for the Y chromosome. In this study, surnames were recorded from the white pages of telephone directories in current use in Corsica in 1993. All surnames present in thirteen villages scattered over the whole island and covering the main historical regions were transcribed. Surname variability was found to be higher in coastal villages, and lower in more isolated communities. The isonymy detected among the thirteen villages allowed the calculation of kinship values, visualized in a tree showing two main clusters, one referring to the northern villages and one encompassing the villages of the south. The pattern reflects the administrative division of the island, with the exception of Vico, which belongs to the southern administrative region but is geographically close to the northern villages, and Ghisoni, which belongs to the northern district but is more similar to the village of Bastelica in the southern district. The data presented here show a structure in the surname distribution that is in substantial agreement with the geographical patterns. The kinship values are consistent with a moderated gene flow among villages producing a surname structure according to the geographic features of the territory.

The article examines the influence of natural and geographical factors on the location of settlements in Surkhandarya region from a scientific point of view. The structure of the surface of the Surkhandarya region, the natural geographic tariff, the population and the number of settlements, the historical formation of villages have been studied. In connection with the multinationality of the population in the region, it is natural to divide the village into certain groups, its structural structure and distribution. In mountainous areas, villages are generally more concentrated along streams and springs. Ancient villages consist of seasonal settlements, reflecting the study of the reasons for the location of villages in the highlands, socio-economic, geographical factors, as well as the level of development of the area.

The eastern Molise earthquake had an epicentral intensity of Io=7–8 MCS (Mercalli-Cancani-Sieberg scale) and a maximum intensity of Imax=8–9 in the village of San Giuliano di Puglia. The historical portion of this village, built on a marly limestone hill, had intensities of 6–7 MCS, whereas the most recently developed area, on a crest of marly clays, had a local intensity of I=9–10 MCS, and was almost totally destroyed. Neighboring villages were generally struck with an intensity of 6–7 MCS. In several places, the damage was due to gravity-driven phenomena affecting both the rocky and clayey substratum of the villages. The epicentral area is characterized by the lack of historical earthquakes comparable to the 2002 sequence, having suffered only the effects of distant, strong (M>6.5) events, coming either from the Apennine seismogenic belt or from the Gargano area.

Using the historical critical method, this research seems to be the most appropriate for obtaining meaningful information on descriptions, dynamics, changes and tendencies of the functional relationship between credit systems, state authority and the process of economic transformation in the region of Yogyakarta. Designing with the capitalism system, government credit system was not able to increase a village economy position in Yogyakarta. Popular Credit in the years of 1912-1990 as this research mentioned, is far from what villagers need. Banking system, in practices, was designed to create and produce a subsisten economy. The dual economy experiences of popular credit in Yogyakarta historically had given the state to be the hegemony holder. In developing countries, the phenomena of rural depopulation have been an intense continuing, which have become a major bottleneck for the sustainable revitalization of traditional villages. However, the factors influencing the spatial disparity of population hollowing (SDPH) in traditional villages within a prefecture-level city have not been fully quantitatively researched. Based on the factors that influence general villages, this study incorporated historical and cultural factors related to traditional village characteristics to construct a targeted influencing factor index system and then identified the key factors by applying the geo-detector method. With the percentage of resident population (PRP) used as a metric, this study examined Lishui, one of China’s traditional village agglomeration regions, as an example to explore SDPH in traditional villages. The results of this study were revealed in the following. (1) The average PRP value in traditional villages in Lishui was 0.68, with clear spatial disparities between the northern region (0.73) and the southern region (0.57). (2) The factors driving the SDPH included both natural and anthropogenic factors; of these, altitude, the number of public facilities, and the number of communication base stations were the most significant influencing factors. In contrast, historical and cultural factors have relatively low impacts. (3) The interaction relationships of pair factors were often enhanced on a bivariate basis, with the highest enhanced impact occurring from the interaction of two variables: the degree of intangible cultural inheritance and altitude. (4) The intervals of the variables leading to the hollowing of the population above a moderate level can be detected. This method can effectively analyze the factors influencing SDPH in traditional villages; can help reveal the interaction impact of pair factors; and can help identify the factors’ risk intervals.

Recent growth in the tourism sector has promoted the emergence of alternative types of tourism, such as rural tourism. Located in low-density territories, the Historical Villages of Portugal are one of the best examples regarding regional development from the perspective of sustainability. Although it is such an important topic today and gives longevity to destinations, its approach from the conscious tourism perspective is still little valued. This article discusses tourists’ characteristics seeking Historical Villages, their behaviour, as well as their awareness and perception of the possible impacts they may cause. Intends to understand the perspective of the tourist experience in the Historical Villages region, and to ascertain the existence of conscious behaviours in rural destinations. Surveys were applied to 453 tourists of the Historical Villages. The main results obtained show that the sociodemographic profile influences the application of conscious practices, and the conscious tourist’s attitude will contribute to the overall satisfaction concerning the destination. Also, the better the tourist's relationship with the destination and his overall satisfaction, the more likely he is to implement conscious practices. The results obtained should be evaluated by the regional DMOs with a view to implementing and developing conscious practices at these destinations.

Balinese customary villages are at the center of the state’s strategy for mitigation of Covid-19. Relations between customary villages and the state predate colonial times. The historical dynamics have shown that the traditions and cultures of customary villages (desa mawacara) will always exist within the shadow of the state (negara mawatata). The symbolic narrative of desa mawacara, negara mawatata illustrates the governmentality that the state exercises over the villages. Regional Regulation No. 4/2019 on Customary Villages in Bali and the formation of the customary village-based task force were rational choices made by the Governor of Bali to place the villages at the forefront of the province’s strategy against the pandemic. This article employs Li’s (2012) adaptation of Foucault’s concept of governmentality in its analysis. Discourse analysis was conducted with regards to information extracted from mass media, in-depth interviews, and participatory observation. This article argues that the state’s policies for Balinese customary villages are deeply entrenched in its long history of intervention and cooptation. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the state has been well aware of the extensive influence that customary villages hold over their communities. The state utilizes this reality to exert its authority.

On the basis of qualitative research, based on the protection of the historical features of traditional villages, the principle of rural tourism, leisure and old-age care was created, and the planning and design of remote tourism and old-age care was carried out in combination with rural resources and environment, so as to achieve the purpose and significance of promoting rural economic revitalization and regional development.

Theoretical works of scientists, historians and architects concerning the architecture in the village of Bogorodskoye, and field research conducted by the authors in 2021.Originality/value: The historical and cultural heritage of the Tomsk province settlement is not previously studied and published. It is shown that Bogorodskoe village has a rich history and great historical, cultural and natural potential. Kampung Batik then became a very crowded, slum village and became a hotbed of crime). The Kampung Batik in 2016 was designated as a Thematic Village by the Mayor of Semarang. This has aroused public awareness to improve the village, both physically and socially. Changes in Kampung Batik from slum villages to clean and beautiful villages deserve to be studied because of the large role of the community in managing the village environment. The problem examined in this article is how community management in Kampung Batik is carried out so that it can transform slums into beautiful villages. Because the study of this article discusses the process of change and development of Kampung Batik, the method used is the historical method, the stages of which are heuristics (source collection), criticism, interpretation, and writing facts). The conclusion is that the Semarang City Government program to create a Thematic Village has a positive value. Kampung Batik, which has been arranged, has become one of the tourist destinations in Semarang.

The fishing villages on the coast of Holland Very little systematic research has been done in the early history of fishing villages on the Dutch coast. In 2001, the English historical-geographer Harold Fox designed a model for the origin of the fishing villages on the coast of Devon. In this model, he describes an original situation in which farmers in inland villages were also part-time fisherman and owned a boat and a boatshed on the beach. Population growth led to labour division and to the emergence of specialised fishing villages. The two most probable periods in which this development took place were the 12th to early 14th centuries and the 16th century. The available data for the coast of the county of Holland point to the first of those periods. Place-names relate the fishing villages to the inland agrarian villages: Egmond aan Zee (‘Egmond at Sea’) exists beside Egmond-Binnen, Wijk aan Zee beside Beverwijk and Katwijk aan Zee beside Katwijk aan de Rijn etc. It is improbable that these fishing villages existed before the 12th century, but during the middle of the 14th century most seem well-established, so a foundation around the 13th century seems probable. Two fishing villages, Berkheide and Ter Heijde, that were founded late in the 14th century, remained small and Berkheide even disappeared. Although many of the medieval fishing villages have (partly) disappeared by coastal erosion, the village plans show remarkable similarities, with a main road from the beach to the inland markets and some parallel roads that join each other on the east side of the village. Only during the 19th century, these villages developed some agriculture (potato gardens in the dunes) and a new economic basis in tourism.

The paper describes the structure of the local space of the Croatian villages of Chunovo and Jarovce, and the Slovak (earlier predominantly Hungarian-German) village Rusovce (Southern Slovakia, the region of Bratislava) in the form in which it conceptualities in the minds of local residents. The material was oral records on the results of the field survey of villages in May 2018. It is noted that the specificity of the structuring of local space in the villages was influenced by their complex geographical and sociohistorical peculiarities since the villages are located within the capital of Slovakia and at the same time they became part of the state only after 1947. It is shown that each of the three villages is characterized by orientation to a certain type of space which is significantly transformed with the passage of time. Thus, in Chunovo, which is located closer to the Hungarian border, the mythological and sacred space is supported. The natural space in the village is closely intertwined with the mythological, and the domestic is subordinated to the sacred, while the historical space does not play any significant role. Rusovce, located five kilometres towards the capital, is a completely different type of spatial organization, a significant imprint on Rusovce was imposed by the deportation of indigenous people after the Second World War. The disintegration of the ethno-cultural tradition is perceived by the remaining indigenous people as a traumatic experience. Sacred space in Rusovce is the subject of the opposition “real (old)” and “fake (modern)”. Domestic space is characterized by the deprivation of former buildings from their household functions, while they are turning into symbols of the past. The transformation of the village takes place not on the principle of expanding its borders but on the principle of concentration, filling the old coordinates with new objects. Natural space bears traces of human intervention and is associated with the consequences of the territory's accession. In the structuring of the mental map of the old residents of Rusovce, the opposition “real” and “false” plays a significant role. The false, artificial, is associated with modernity, and the signs of the present remain within the village but either lose their direct function or are “lost” as a result of the concentration of the village space by objects which are similar in form and but foreign in origin. The village of Jarovce, which is the closest to Bratislava, is dominated by a focus on specific historical events and on the functional relevance of the locus. The sacred space in the village is subordinated to the historical, and the domestic, in turn, is subordinated to the sacred, the dominants of which structure the village and at the same time are clearly associated with specific events in the relatively distant past. Mythological space in Jarovce is almost not structured but natural topos serves for orientation about weather events or specific localities.

East Java Province is one of the provinces that has consistently developed the Tourism Village. Banyuwangi Regency has many interesting tourism objects to develop, such as nature tourism, historical tourism, art and cultural tourism or other tourism. Tampo Village is famous for its batik village tours which provide typical Banyuwangi batik. This study uses a research and development (R&D) design. The expected outputs are in the form of analysis of information updates on the potential of the batik tourism village and the batik tourism village development model. The development of the batik industry in Tampo aims to preserve cultural wealth and develop the potential that exists in Tampo Village. The potential for batik is one of the means to increase the economic growth of the village of Tampo. Through the development of a tourism village using the CBT approach, it is hoped that the Tampo batik tourism village can become one of the tourist attractions in Banyuwangi Regency.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyze the historical, cultural, and social significance and the role in landscapes of Lithuanian villages with churches and to formulate the hypothetical framework for their revitalization and consequent sustainable development of country's rural landscape. Design/methodology/approach – The methodology of the research encompassed the desktop study (analysis of literature, archival data, maps, and statistical data) and the analyses on site (observation, measurements, and recording in photographs of buildings and urban structures). Findings – The findings of the research include the analysis of the historical development of country's rural settlements with the religious function, formulation of the notion of the contemporary village with church, identification of the contemporary network of country's villages with churches and analysis of their current socioeconomic and sociocultural situation and the role in rural landscape. The results of the analyses were used formulating the hypothetical framework for the revitalization of the villages with churches and the sustainable development of the rural landscape. Originality/value – The analysis of literature demonstrated that Lithuanian villages with churches and their significance for the sustainable development of country's rural landscape are paradoxically neglected subjects. Meanwhile, the foreign experience has demonstrated that historic rural settlements, including the settlements with the religious function, are important not only as separate cultural assets but also can play an important role in the identity, viability, and the sustainable development of rural landscapes. Thus the findings of the research demonstrating the peculiarities and potential of Lithuanian villages with churches can be used in the fields of heritage preservation, landscape management, and rural development.

Bali have one city, it is Denpasar City, within tourism potencies that can be build to be package tours. Kesiman Traditional Village is one of many villages in Denpasar City that has many tourism potency, the potency is cultural tourism potencies that can be found, such as : art attraction, historical place, traditional fashion and food, villager activities based on culture, hospitality of the villagers. Those cultural Potencies which found in Kesiman Traditional Village can be pack to be cultural package tours. Regard to planning cultural package tour, the formulation of issues are : (1) What is the potencies that can be found in Kesiman Traditional Village, East Denpasar? (2) How the planning cultural package in Kesiman Traditional Village? The technique to collecting data did through observation, interviews, documentation, and books literature. The result of the research is known that Kesiman Traditional Village has cultural tourism potencies and those potencies can be package into cultural package tour, those are : Barong and Keris Dance, Wadah Maker, Pengrebongan Temple, Kesiman Castle, Odah Turut Balinese House, Balinese Dance and Music Lesson in Bale Banjar Ceramcam Kesiman, Made Sudyatmika Paint Lesson, Ananda Balinese Boutique, Kertalangu Tourist Village with jogging track surrounded by rice field, fishing pond, and World Peace Gong, and Kroya Kites House. Those potencies then package into planning cultural package tour in the form of tables, essay, and graphic. Those are package into cultural package tour, those are : (1) History and Spirit of Kesiman Cultural Tour, (2) Beautiful Art of Kesiman Cultural Tour, (3) Art and Local Activities of Kesiman Cultural Tour.

The article discusses the formation of Siberian settlements on the example of villages of the Spassky rural settlement (the Tomsk region, Russia). The influence of the MoskovskoSibirskii Tract on the development of villages is determined by the number of houses and residents. The analysis of the villages of the Spassky rural settlement includes the history of the formation of settlements; territorial management units; volost management; volost assignment to settlements after 1861, and changes in the volost boundaries based on lists of settlements in Tomsk Gubernia at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The relevance of the study is determined by little information on the historical and cultural heritage of Tomsk villages and the problems of preserving historical rural settlements in Russia.Purpose: A study the history and development of villages in the Spassky rural settlement. Practical implications: the results obtained can be used in the implementation of design work on the prospective development of old Siberian villages. Scientific novelty: Historical study of the formation and development of settlements in the Spasskoye rural settlement, which has not been studied previously. Methodology/Approach: The critical analysis of the literature, system and structural analysis of information and creative synthesis of conclusions were used in this work. Theoretical works of historians and architects listed in the bibliographic list of this article. Research findings: The formation of villages in Siberia occurred, to a large extent, owing to immigrants from the European part of Russia, who brought their own traditions of housekeeping. The analysis of the volost distribution of the villages of the Spassky rural settlement shows that the territories inhabited by certain nationalities transformed to separate volosts and were called foreign. The growth in the number of courtyards and residents of settlements in the adjacent villages of the Tomsk Province confirmed the more intensive development of the adjacent villages.

This research focuses on studying conflicts involving traditional villages in fighting over the ownership status of the Temple of Death (Pura Dalem) as an asset that must be owned by a traditional village. Conflict involving two traditional villages in Bali, namely Kemoning and Budaga Village in Klungkung, resulted from a claim of ownership by one of the parties ahead of a massive celebration tribute to this temple’s birth centuries ago. The ownership claim led to rejection from another party, who said their traditional village was also entitled to the Temple of Death. This mutual ownership claim then escalated into an open conflict that resulted in casualties and injuries between the two parties. This research seeks to outline the root problems of this conflict and describe the actors, dynamics, and impacts of the conflict. This study used a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with five informants consisting of two key informants (former heads of the Kemoning and Budaga Villages), one Klungkung resort police officer, and two people Kemoning and Budaga Village residents. Moore, Mitchell, Furlong, and Kriesberg use several perspectives to analyze the social conflict. The results showed that the problem of the two traditional villages lies in the inaccuracy of historical data, besides that there are different perspectives between the two parties about the existence of this temple, excessive control, and dominance in the management and poor communication caused the emergence of a hostile relationship pattern, raising mutual claims over the ownership of this Temple of Death. The dispute that led to this clash created an increasingly tenuous relationship between the two traditional villages.
