Abstract:
STRESZCZENIE Dychotomia "sztuczny "/"naturalny " oraz historyczne zjawisko funkcjonujqcego jçzyka wynalezionego Artykul dotyczy dyskusji (jeszcze wciaz w krçgach fachowych rozpowszechnionej) klasycznej dychotomii miedzy okresleniami "jçzyk naturalny" i "jçzyk sztuczny". Okazuje sie jednak, že to trzecie rozróžnienie Kellera obejmuje jeszcze wiecej; mianowicie — z jezyków powstalych w wyniku planowania — conajmniej esperanto. Od poczatku 20-go wieku dajace sie zauwažyč przejscie esperanta z kategorii "artefaktów" do kategorii "zjawisk trzeciego rodzaju" naležy bez watpienia do jednego z najciekawszych procesów w historii jçzyka.

Abstract:
This essay examines the controversial stories and implications of two memorials built in March 2005 by former boat people from Vietnam on Pulau Bidong (Malaysia) and on Pulau Galang (Indonesia) to commemorate the refugee exodus that ensued after the end of the Vietnam War (April 1975). Tracing the histories and analyzing the contents of these objects, this essay not only illuminates the intertwining social, cultural, political, economic, moral, and spiritual dimensions of contemporary diasporic Vietnamese commemorative practices, but also explains how and why these commemorative practices are entangled in local, national, international, and transnational dynamics and therefore have multilateral impacts.

Abstract:
Đổi Mới reforms triggered significant changes in the Vietnamese art world, including new institutional spaces, platforms for critical discourse, and growing artistic mobility. However, it is important to question the ways in which the use of Đổi Mới as a blanket indicator of artistic reform has further constructed a homogeneous representation of “Vietnamese contemporary art.” The authors consider the relationship of Đổi Mới to the “globalization” of Vietnamese art with attention to questions of art historiography (the coining of such terms as “post-Đổi Mới Vietnamese art”) and variations in regional developments (positing local art histories against the national narrative).

Abstract:
The following analysis explores the ways in which different types and levels of frames interact in structuring both the narration and the construction of meaning(s) in Chopin's story. The frame story foreshadows the literal action of framing at the crux of the plot, establishes parameters for cognitive processing of the story, and parallels the strategic appropriation of both frames by the subject of the enunciation of the main story for both telling and validating her story in her own way.

Abstract:
Two pure and opposing models exist to give historical account of the structure in modern cultural patterns. A phylogenetic account explores divergence from some shared commonality (the word ‘phylogenetic’ is from the Greek words for ‘tribal origins’). A reticulate account concentrates on a network of interactions (the word ‘reticulate’ comes via French from the Latin for ‘small net’). It follows that neither model may tell all the story. These continuing issues are explored with particular attention to the relations between histories as they are inferred from archaeological and from linguistic patterns.

Abstract:
Abstract:
Based on the analysis and comparison of the concepts «occurrence» and «phenomenon» in philosophy and pedagogy, the pedagogical profile is substantiated as a phenomenon that differs from occurrence by comprehension, analysis, generalizations, and conclusions. It has been substantiated that the phenomenon in pedagogy is an occurrence that: 1) has its own history, 2) is clearly defined, and 3) its existence has an impact on the subjects of the pedagogical process and the development of pedagogical science. It has been proved that the problem of pedagogical characteristics was developed by the leading domestic educators and psychologists of the middle of the XIX — the second half of the XX century. It has been emphasized that the pedagogical profile has been used in the educational process since the beginning of the twentieth century. It has been concluded that, like every scientific pedagogical phenomenon, the pedagogical profile is subject to operationalization and a holistic study with the definition of the subject, object, chronological boundaries, carrying out of the historic and graphical search, coverage of the contribution of scientists — teachers and psychologists — in its development, a comprehensive analysis of the structure, content and the use of characteristics in educational institutions in different historical periods. The author's definition of pedagogical profiles as a phenomenon that appeared in the second half of the nineteenth century and was further developed theoretically and methodically by teachers and psychologists O. Lazursky, S. Rubinstein, B. Baev, V. Sukhomlinsky, and others; it is a kind of text in which the value judgments about a pupil are substantiated; it has a structure of the text-reasoning, in which the traits of character and the personality of the pupil are indicated, the arguments are concrete facts of life, the behavior of the pupil, obtained as a result of a long systematic study of the pupil through observation and special research, and the conclusion — pedagogical recommendations, advice on further work with the pupil.

Abstract:
Objective This study aims to evaluate the clinical consequences of protocol-driven delayed umbilical cord clamping (DCC) implementation in moderate and early late-preterm (MELP) infants born between 320/7 and 346/7 weeks gestation. Study Design We conducted a prospective cohort study with a historic control cohort comparison. The prospective study period was 1 year when DCC was performed for 60 seconds duration (DCC cohort, n = 106). The study period for historic control cohort with no DCC was also 1 year before DCC implementation (historic cohort, n = 137). Results The mean hematocrit at birth was significantly higher in the DCC cohort compared with the historic cohort (49.1 ± 14.9 vs. 45.7 ± 15.7; p = 0.01). Fewer infants in the DCC cohort were admitted to neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) on respiratory support compared with the historic cohort (17.9 vs. 29.9%; p = 0.04). The incidence of respiratory distress syndrome was significantly lower in the DCC cohort compared with the historic cohort (2.8 vs. 14.6%; p = 0.002). There were no differences in the incidence of phototherapy or NICU length of stay (LOS) between groups. Conclusion In MELP infants, DCC was associated with increased hematocrit and better respiratory transition at birth. DCC was not associated with increased phototherapy or NICU LOS.

Abstract:
Abstract Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s personal library was a prime source of his literary and scientific writings, but has nonetheless found little attention in research. This study explains this disregard by examining the library as both “familial inheritance” (Erbe) and “cultural heritage” (Kulturerbe), two conflicting concepts that, nonetheless, both resulted in the monumentalization of the writer’s book collection. By turning Goethe’s library into a monument, the individual, telling histories of the books he owned, has often been overshadowed. Many books are associated with multiple owners and have gone through the hands of Goethe’s family, friends, and assistants. Against this background, provenance research allows us to gain new insights into Goethe’s works, reading and writing practices, as well as his stylization as a German national poet.

Abstract:
The journey of the concept of Europe has been from myth to legend to war to stability. European unity is based, essentially, on the recognition of historic and linguistic diversity, the cultural variety and the national roots that make it unique. It is this huge cultural diversity that gives Europeans their European identity. I firmly believe that we cannot understand the idea of Europe without understanding its fundamental desire for universality. Europe has been built gradually on the basis of a sincere and deep-seated acknowledgement of diversity, and it is precisely because of this that it aspires to form the basis of a larger and more universal whole. Europe has more than its fair share of past glory and regrets and possesses both great diversity and a deep cultural unity.

Abstract:
Vietnam’s New Rural Development program envisages the creation of a newly modern rural Vietnam. Drawing on fieldwork, this paper argues that the program has had little bearing on peasant livelihood strategies. The emergence of deagrarianization has not arisen as a result of the program but because of household interest in maintaining a diverse set of income activities. These two contrasting rural realities—the advance of deagrarianization against a backdrop of continued subsistence farming—coexist and are mutually supportive. Peasant livelihood diversification strategies have been perpetuated without much attention to broader state-led initiatives aimed at “reforming” the countryside.

Abstract:
This essay examines Vietnamese tales of marvels [kỳ] and the uncanny [quái] composed in Literary Sinitic and offers close readings of four narratives through focusing on the theme of predestined love [duyên]. The essay shows that the discourse of duyên was embedded in both Confucian and Daoist voices and that this reflected a common cultural repertoire in which the discourse of social karma was a part of a shared moral metaphysics. The essay offers a theory and methodology for examining tales of marvels and the uncanny, arguing that heretofore scholars have read around the depictions of religious phenomena, rather than by means of them.

Abstract:
This paper surveys the emergence and transformation of Vietnamese studies in Russia and the former Soviet Union from the late nineteenth century until the present. It demonstrates how writings by Russian explorers and geographers developed into a professional academic field during the Soviet era, one that was strongly shaped by ideological affinities and international connections within the communist world. Although Vietnamese studies in Russia has retained some intellectual and institutional legacies from the Soviet era, it also reflects transformations in academic life in Russia since the 1990s as well as the changing relationship between the two countries.

Abstract:
Vietnamese studies first emerged in Thailand during the Cold War period and developed into a vibrant field after the establishment of Thai-Vietnamese diplomatic relations and the end of the Cambodian conflict. Vietnam’s accession to ASEAN in 1995 and preparation for the ASEAN Economic Community prior to 2015 also provided favorable conditions for the expansion of Vietnamese studies in Thai research and scholarship. However, the study of Vietnam in Thailand is often seen as a part of Southeast Asian studies and ASEAN studies. Research on Vietnam is typically carried out comparatively within a regional context, especially in comparison with Thailand, rather than for its own sake.

Abstract:
From modest beginnings in the 1950s and 1960s, Vietnamese studies experienced a slow but consistent rise in Germany. In the GDR, the rise was connected first with close relations between the two communist states. Second, the area studies’ concept favored Vietnamese studies as a subject of Southeast Asian studies, rather than as a side subject of sinology as it had been before. In both parts of Germany, the interest in Vietnam has grown, especially after its reunification in 1975. Since 1990, at least one place is continuing to teach the subject in the framework of the Southeast Asian Languages and Cultures Program. In this way, one of the two professorships could be preserved.
