Abstract:
Songkhla Lake Basin has a long history of at least 6,000 years and has a wide variety of tourism resources including nature, history, beliefs, culture and various traditions of the local people. It covers 3 provinces, the whole area of Phatthalung, 12 districts of Songkhla and 2 districts of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. It has an area of approximately 8,727 square kilometers. There are many tourist attractions because the basin has a long history through different eras, natural, historic, ancient sites, and the culture of the local people. In 2018, both Thai and foreign tourists visited Songkhla and Phatthalung, which is the main area of Songkhla Lake Basin. The total number of tourists that came was 7,628,813 and 1,641,841 and an income of 68,252.64 and 3,470.96 million baht was generated from each province, respectively (Ministry of Tourism and Sports, 2020). Although Songkhla Lake Basin has various tourist attractions, the promotion of tourism with the involvement of government agencies in the past mainly focused on promoting tourism along with the tourist attractions rather than encouraging tourists to experience and learn the culture of the people living in the area; the culture that reflects the uniqueness of the people in the south. This study, therefore, aims to find creative tourism activities in SLB in order to increase the value of tourism resources, create tourism activities that are aligned with the resources available in the community and increase the number of tourists in the area. Data for this study were collected using a secondary source of data collection method. It was done through a literature review of related documents, texts, magazines, and research which focus on Songkhla Lake Basin as a guideline for designing tourism activities. The field survey was done through twelve community-based tourism sites in SLB to find creative tourism activities. Data on each activity were collected in detail by interviewing the tourism community leaders and the local people. Content analysis was used to describe the individual open-ended questions by focusing on the important issues and the information obtained was presented as a narrative. Abstract:
COVID-19 has led to the biggest tourism crisis in modern Spanish history. Although its borders were opened in June 2020, incoming international tourism to Spain was very low. Tourist behavior, however, has been very diverse between types of tourism. Data from credit card transactions showing tourist behavior in 33 destinations representative of various types of tourism were analyzed. Results show that differences in tourist behavior between destinations can be explained by risk perception and the proximity of the destination to home, which favors natural areas and charming coastal cities. This study contributes to the academic literature by studying the effective behavior of international tourists in the time of COVID-19.

Abstract:
Since the 1992 cod fishing moratorium, the province of Newfoundland and Labrador has redefined social-environmental relationships with coastal landscapes in pursuit of tourism development. We explore how coastal landscapes are defi ned for tourists through traditional and digital media produced by Newfoundland-based tourism operators and the provincial government. We examine how these discourses are then translated by "outsider" mass media in Canada, the US, and the UK, thereby connecting local environments to global flows of tourism. To understand this process of translation and circulation we analyze television ads, websites, and newspaper articles. Additional insight is provided through interviews with tourism operators and promoters about their media work. Drawing on a co-constructionist approach and tourism mobilities literature, we argue that the post-moratorium shift toward tourism has resulted in the packaging and insertion of Newfoundland landscapes into global tourist/travel discourses in multiple ways that depend on medium of circulation and target audience.

Abstract:
Tourism destination image perception aims to depict the urban tourism image from the perspective of the perception of tourists, which, therefore, sheds new light on the advancement and innovation of urban tourism. The model proposed in this study can effectively describe the image perception of a tourism destination, with its research conclusions providing a vital referential basis for the sustainable development of urban tourism. Combined with LDA, we construct the research framework of tourism destination image perception and then take the online comments of popular scenic spots in Wuhan on Ctrip Travel as an example. The results show that four aspects are included in tourists’ perception of the city image of Wuhan: experience, history culture, leisure service, and tourist destination. Among them, the social network of the experience dimension is most closely related. In addition, emotion analysis illustrates that tourists’ emotional tendencies tend to be positive under the four perceptual dimensions.

Abstract:
Writing in 1997, Britain's leading historian of tourism John K. Walton lamented that ‘tourism has not been accepted into the charmed circle of acceptable themes in European history’. While it would be premature to suggest that tourism has now been welcomed into this select inner circle on equal terms with more traditional fields of research, there is nevertheless much for historians of tourism to be positive about. Over the course of the last two decades, a growing body of scholarship has demonstrated not only that tourism needs to be taken seriously as a factor that shaped the modern world but also that the study of tourist practices has the potential to shed new light on seemingly familiar historical issues and debates. The complex range of factors that have enabled and hindered tourism's rise towards respectability within historical studies have been discussed in detail elsewhere by prominent exponents of the genre and will not be reiterated here. However, three flourishing and interconnected fields of historical inquiry, to which historians of tourism are making valuable contributions, deserve particular mention. Each of the works discussed below can be situated broadly within these three historiographical trends.

Abstract:
The aim of the paper is to analyse, whether and to what degree that tourism is a way of rejuvenating shrinking cities located on the coast. The research is based on three cities, and the adjacent regions, located in Uzbekistan (Mo'noq), Romania (Sulina) and Georgia-Abkhazia (Sukhumi). Tourist attractions connected with nature, culture, history and cuisine are examined, along with the land use and tourist infrastructure. The research indicates that the three sites have great tourism potential, with a focus on nature-oriented tourism. It also suggests that infrastructure, transport, access to information and land use can have a strong, positive or negative impact on tourism attractiveness. Additionally, the threats that uncontrolled tourism can bring are considered - it has been shown that unsustainable tourism and an excessive influx of tourists are threats to the environment and to local societies. A balance between economic and environmental value should therefore be maintained in the process of developing tourism.

Abstract:
Sweden’s tourism industry stands out for its large contribution to the development of the national economy. The vast size of the country makes it possible to trace differences in incoming tourist flows from neighbouring countries. This circumstance accounts for the novelty of this study, which lies in viewing national tourism geography from the perspective of the theory of transboundary tourism-and-recreation region building. Interregional differences in the structure of incoming tourist flows help identify the country’s cross-border tourism-and-recreation regions and delineate their borders. This research employs statistical and cartographic methods. The incoming tourist flow to Sweden grew steadily until 2020. However, the Covid-19 crisis has led to a drastic reduction in the number of incoming tourists. Based on the 2019 statistics, the findings confirm the existence of a developed transboundary tourism-and-recreation mesoregion that brings together Germany, Denmark, and Sweden. The formation boasts strong tourist links. There are another five cross-border tourism-and-recreation mesoregions: Sweden-Norway-Denmark, Middle Sweden-Norway, Sweden-Norway-Finland, Middle Sweden-Finland, and South Sweden-Finland. The number of tourists visiting cross-border mesoregions indicates the degree of development of the latter.

Dark tourism attractions and sites are gaining increasing attention, whereas dark tourism is considered one of the relatively recent and growing trends in the turbulent tourism market. Along with providing a theoretical framework, this paper aims to explore the tourism market of dark tourism and the motives of tourist demand. The perspectives of the population of the Republic of Croatia on dark tourism as a concept as well as the offer side of dark tourism are presented. These findings will be useful in designing and improving this kind of tourist offer, which also represents the main purpose of this paper. The research instrument was an original questionnaire. The main hypothesis of research refers to insufficient tourists’ awareness of their participation in dark tourism, which was confirmed by the carried research. The new frontier of research refers to their propensity of visit in case they would be aware of the tragic history related to a site; namely if they knew a site they visited previously is classified as a dark tourism site – would they still have chosen to visit it?

Abstract:
Towns are tourist destinations because of their material heritage, cultural events as well as a wide range of other attractions. A special role in contemporary tourism development is played by historic towns that offer tourists not only heritage but also combine their genius loci with contemporary human needs. Sandomierz is one of the oldest Polish towns with its origins going back to the early Piast period. The thousand years of its history is visible in a well-preserved urban-architectural complex which has successfully survived both world wars in the 20th c. Today's image of ‘tourist’ Sandomierz is connected with the TV serial of Ojciec Mateusz. The story, set in Sandomierz, has become a tourist attraction as well as an important means of promotion and creating an image of the town as a pleasant and hospitable place. The role of the serial as a factor for tourism development in terms of tourism infrastructure and volume of tourists dates from 2008. Sandomierz offers much else that has created favourable conditions for the development of new forms of tourism.

Abstract:
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to use a new segmentation approach based on objective variables to calculate direct tourism-related sales volume and revenue by selling wine at a winery in the Rheingau region of Germany.Design/methodology/approachIn the framework of a 2015 face-to-face survey in the Rheingau, 1,555 tourists were interviewed. For segmentation, two-step clustering was applied to classify survey participants into homogeneous groups. To calculate tourism-related wine sales volume and revenue, a special model based on official statistics and the survey’s results was used.FindingsFour wine-tourist segments were identified by using cluster analysis with objective variables, such as nationality, visiting frequency and volume of wine purchased in the region: wine and Rheingau lovers who have a high interest in wine, wine-oriented tourists who do not come to the region very often, first-time tourists who came to the region mainly because of the nature and history and international tourists. With the help of calculations on tourism-related wine sales volume and revenue, it can be stated that approximately 18 per cent of total wine production will be purchased directly in the region by tourists, valued at €36m.Originality/valueThis paper contributes to existing wine-tourism research because a multi-dimensional segmentation model was applied using objective variables, such as nationality, visiting frequency and volume of wine purchased in the region. Using the calculation of tourism-related sales volume and revenue, winemakers in the Rheingau can gain a clear picture of tourism’s importance.

Catholic contemplative monasteries and the consecrated life in Poland in the context of tourism Visiting monasteries and staying there have become an attractive tourist experience shared by numerous tourists and perceived by them as truly “touching and authentic”. Not only is a monastery in itself a subject of tourists’ interest with all of its physical attributes, but also the idea and the specific way of life behind it. In the paper, a special attention was paid to the participation of Polish contemplative monasteries in the so-called “monastic tourism”, in order to establish to what extent this phenomenon is close to religious tourism as well as to different forms of cultural tourism meant in the broad sense. Answers to these questions should lie in the results of a survey conducted among the Polish contemplative monasteries preceded by an analysis of motivations and conditions transforming ‘a monastery’ into a tourist destination (external individual attributes such as history and architecture were rejected).

Abstract:
American tourism in Mexico increased significantly during the Good Neighbor era. By creating tourist maps, cartographers on both sides of the border participated in an intentional, ideological process of reshaping these tourists’ views of Mexico. They sought to transform Americans’ perceptions not only of Mexicans and their history but also of the physical environment. Their Mexico was a place of contrast, suspended in the romantic past and engaged in modernity. Although cartographers constructed a new Mexico through their maps, they did not challenge perceptions of an asymmetrical power dynamic that had defined U.S.-Mexico relations and the tourism industry at large. Instead, their maps reinforced, reproduced, and contributed to it. Cartographers, like the maps they created, were not passive or inconsequential actors. Analyzing the ideas, relationships, and myths embedded in their maps expands our understanding of transnational tourism, environmental change, selective history, and imagined communities in the twentieth century.

Abstract:
This article deals with the development of scientific research in the field of tourism economy. It dwells on the concept of tourism economy as a science which studies the system of economic relations in the sphere of production, distribution and consumption of tourist services. Research into tourism economy was triggered by the rapid development of tourism in the second half of the twentieth century. An active collection of statistical data on tourism also contributed to the development of tourism economy. The first to attract scientific attention were the issues concerning the impact of tourism on the economy at both global and national levels. Another research-relevant point concerns the concept of tourist multiplier that allows assessment not only of direct but also of indirect tourism influence. The authors claim that the multiplier-effect is conventionally assessed according to input-output models. The new paradigm of research into the economic results of tourism activity is based on the general equilibrium models. The article considers the subject content of one of the first foreign journals on tourism economy, Tourism Economics, as well as the activities of the International Association for Tourism Economics (International Association for Tourism Economics — IATE). The authors point out that intensive research is conducted concerning effective demand and effective demand forecasting, with the research results effectively used in tourism policy making. The authors analyse the lines of foreign and Russian scientific economic research in the sphere of tourism, and conclude that the issues of market grouping and development, as well as price formation are central to scientific research. The authors also propose that one of the highly promising lines of research is an analysis of the impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) on the development of the tourist market and the tourism economy. The authors emphasise the importance of measuring the performance in the tourism sector, noting, however, that tourism performance indices are insufficiently studied. Competitiveness in tourism is seen by the authors as one of the major areas of economic research, and the article provides information on the index of competitiveness of travel and tourism in different countries (Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index — TTCI) in recent years. The article describes the most poorly explored cross-disciplinary directions of tourism economy, in particular, those viewed from a psychological, social, sociological and other perspectives. Among the most pressing research problems, as identified by the authors, are the influence of financial and economic crises on tourism, research and prevention of risks in tourism, as well as the impact that the problems of experience economy and participation economy, crisis management in the tourism sector, the impact of globalization, mergers and acquisitions, have on tourism development in the framework of global and national economies.

Abstract:
The first type of tourism was essentially domestic. However, tourist activities have become a major trend lately, particularly in some locations. According to UNWTO (2016), domestic tourism involves an estimated volume of 5 to 6 billion tourists across the whole world. As a result, some destinations consider it imperative to promote and develop domestic tourism, since it represents an important input to local and national economy. Notwithstanding these facts, most actions taken and research conducted focus on international tourists. An empirical study involving 622 domestic tourists reveals that the main cognitive destination image dimensions are Simplicity and Authenticity, Good Environment, Relaxation and Socialization, Good Infrastructures, Nostalgia and History and Culture. Regarding the affective attributes, most tourists in the sample have strong positive feelings regarding the visited destination. In addition, results prove that those tourists’ generational differences influence the way they build the cognitive and affective images of a certain destination. The discussion focuses on the kind of implications tourism destinations may have for Management and Marketing.

Abstract:
Topicality. The development of domestic tourism is relevant today around the world, and Ukraine is no exception. One of the domestic tourism types for the country can be food tourism, which is still unequally developed within tourist destinations. Aim and tasks to assess the condition of food tourism development in Ukraine and to outline the prospects for its further development on the basis of the European experience. Research results. A promising area of tourist services market development is food tourism - a specialized type of tourism, focused on learning about the history, technology and culture of national dishes and products consumption, as well as training and professional development in cooking. Trends in the modern tourism market show a growing interest among consumers in these types of travel. According to the UNWTO (World Tourism Organization), most tourists mark the food aspect as the main reason for visiting a country, and argue that the gastronomic features of the country are one of the three main reasons in determining the place of tourist travel. Wine tours in Zakarpattia, Odessa, Kherson and Mykolayiv regions are gaining the most popularity in Ukraine among the actively demanded directions of tourist and gastronomic activity. Deep cultural traditions, in particular in food, for which Ukraine is famous, create preconditions for the formation of numerous interesting gastronomic tours for both domestic and foreign tourists. Conclusion. Current trends in the development of food tourism in Ukraine indicate its significant potential and opportunities for professional development, because now this area of tourism is engaged in a limited number of tourism companies; Most trips are organized to Lviv, Zakarpattia and Poltava regions, where there are strong national traditions, the formation of their own gastronomic brands and geographical indications, a strong authentic culture and specific culinary preferences. The combinatorial capabilities of gastronomic tourism, which are actively used in European practice, open its perspectives in the domestic tourism sector, in particular, increasing employment of local people and strengthening the competitiveness of agro-industrial, recreational and agricultural regions and multinational areas of our country.

Among other negative economic and health outcomes, the global tourism industry is one of the most affected areas by the recent pandemic. A recent estimation shows that USD 1.3 trillion were lost in revenues, in 2020 only – which represents more than 11 times the loss suffered during the 2009 global economic crisis. It is by far the most the worst year in tourism history. As a direct consequence, many jobs are at risk, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises, in countries where tourism is the main economic component, the situation is quite dramatic. In this paper, we will analyse what happened in world large regions in the sector, what the perspectives to recovery are, and what are the rebound expectations and consumer confidence. We will also investigate the specificity of the tourism situation in Switzerland, where since the beginnings of the pandemic, the big cities and tourist locations have suffered greatly from the absence of foreign tourists. The cities close to the airports showed the strongest decreases in attendance. In contrast, those which are traditionally very touristy were only slightly affected by the decline in the number of foreign visitors.

Abstract:
With the passage of time, the offer made by tourism companies has undergone important changes, becoming more and more configured as a unique and memorable consumer experience, able to activate the sensory system of the consumer and to stir up emotions. The experiential marketing27 uses the experiences lived by consumer as marketing tool so as to make the consumer perceive a higher added value, thanks to the involvement of the senses and emotions. Also within the tourism sector, the need to cope with the new needs of tourists led the companies on the road to experiential differentiation. In today’s society, consumption is no longer a private and personal act, but a real “social event” in the sense that a product is purchased not so much for its functional value, as for the meaning it assumes for those who use it or consume it and for its own social relationships. The consumer experience therefore generates a noticeable involvement for consumer and for its own social relations: the individual seeks, for this reason, products and services with a symbolic value, that allow him to fully manifest his personality. “To consume means to satisfy one’s own needs, but also to create and maintain social relationships” (Douglas & Isherwood, 1989). The paper focuses on the role of Tourist Promotion Agencies, particularly on the Agency “Tourism Imperial Apulian”, reference subject for marketing, reception and promotion of Local Tourist System “Puglia Imperiale”, and new reference for creation of a quality tourist experience. The methodology used in the paper is a descriptive empirical analysis; after a view on the variables important to create a valuable experience for tourists and a statistical reflection on the data related to the incoming in Puglia from 2007 to 2014, the Author describes the strategies adopted in the case history. This empirical analysis aims to confirm the promotional validity of the "Puglia Imperiale" Tourist Agency and, above all, to witness the creation of a new territorial identity brand evolved into a real tourism product, through the activity of a Management Agency of the destination.

Abstract:
This article presents a set of general system characteristics used to identify the conceptual properties of agritourism. There are the results of a formalized systematic and positive analysis of known conceptual directions of system perfection of agritourism relations. Accoding to these results the author identifies the imperatives and synthesizes the corresponding category. The article identifies a system of agritourism as a business network of rural tourism using the convenient location of the tourist farmsteads. This network is organized by its owners and individuals influencing the development of tourism with these aims: to meet the interests of tourists in the fields of winemaking, fishing, agricultural technologies, advanced methods of management; to explore natural phenomena, crafts, monuments of history and architecture; to participate in folk games, festivals, folklore performances. Rural tourism develops on the basis of the family agribusiness in the conditions enabling the legal system and its initial funding. Progressive legislation contributes to effective management, to strengthening of tourism position in the territories, to the demonstrations and the marketing of agricultural products to the tourists, to the development of intensive farms, to the increasing incomes from tourist destinations and their products. A promising development of rural tourism requires new ways of getting income, renovation and construction of recreation facilities, gift shops, creation of interest collections to tourists, organisation of festivals, restoration of historical and architectural monuments. The complex business of rural tourism is a form of cluster. Maximizing business performance in rural tourism s implements optimal account of district interests. The districts of agricultural cluster are owners of tourist farms and other persons who make an independent economic activity on the market of services of rural tourism. Agritourism creates an economic base for rural development, promotes the preservation of local customs, folklore, crafts.

The article is devoted to the study of the history of state regulation in the tourist sphere in Ukraine, as a component of socio-political and economic development of the country. The peculiarities of the management of the industry at the time of Ukraine’s joining the USSR along with the presence of a bureaucratic and controlling apparatus were determined. The article focuses on the study of the history of the formation and development of state regulation of tourism commencing with the proclamation of Independence to the present. The need for a well-considered and competent approach to determining the place and role of the tourism industry in the current challenges is emphasized. At present, it is the acknowledged fact that in many countries of the world the tourism industry has long been established and is steadily developing, having a material base and providing work to millions of people, which undoubtedly positively influences the development of individual states. In Recent years, building of market economy model in our country requires the development of fundamentally new approaches to the formation of effective regulatory mechanisms in the field of domestic tourism. There is a number of problems in Ukraine that do not contribute to the development of the tourism sector, leading to significant destruction of economic and social relations in tourism industry. The reasons for the inefficient realization of the competitive advantages of Ukraine’s unique resource potential are the lack of a comprehensive system of public tourism management in the regions; subordination of establishments for temporary accommodation of tourists as well as sanatorium-resort, health and recreational establishments to different ministries and departments; imperfection and «scattering» of the legal framework; slow rate of growth of investments in the development of the material and financial facilities of tourism industry; lack of state support and a comprehensive approach to the promotion of the national tourism product in the domestic and international market of tourism services; insufficient level of information infrastructure development; imperfection of the database regarding tourist destinations etc.

Studies were conducted in nine countries. Findings suggest that STI knowledge, attitude and practice were fairly good among tourists and tourism workers, but there is a need for pre-travel advice for travellers, especially those travelling to low and middle-income countries. Greater importance was given to tourists than to tourism operators and locals interacting with tourists. Studies suggest that as a group both tourist and tourist workers were likely to engage in sexual activities. Overall, both condom use and STI screening were low, among tourists as well as tourism operators. Furthermore, studies reported links between drug and alcohol use and sexual behaviour and risk taking. Conclusion: Although less research appeared to have been conducted among tourism workers than tourists, it does demonstrate the need for education, training and promotion of travel medicine. STI screening, pre-travel advice, travel history in terms of contracting STIs and safe-sex awareness-raising are needed. More and better sexual health education and relevant tourism policies are needed globally.

Abstract:
Gastronomy has been an important attribute in development of niche travel & niche destination. Literature supports that there is a relationship between tourism & gastronomy yet the use of gastronomy as a tourism product has been concise to presentation & offering of local cuisines to tourists. Gastronomy tourism can be pull factor for many tourism market segments. Due to diverse geographical conditions in India not all states can avail the pre-tested 4S formula (sun, sand sea & sex) to promote tourism. Gastronomy tourism however can be unique tool to tourism development. The study was undertaken in Jharkhand which is the 286 State of Indian Union offering tribal gastronomy which can be a pull factor for not merely special interest tourists but also urban & International tourist population. Though Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar on 15th Nov 2000 however the region's rich history & culture goes thousand of years beyond its present stature. The various regional delicacies are influenced by culinary trend from neighbouring states e.g. Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa & Chhattisgarh still many of the local food & beverages are prepared in their own way which can be both a relishing as well as learning experience for gastronomy tourists
