Abstract:

Abstract The Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) is an empirical, dimensional model of psychological symptoms and functioning. Its goals are to augment the use and address the limitations of traditional diagnoses, such as arbitrary thresholds of severity, within-disorder heterogeneity, and low reliability. HiTOP has made inroads to addressing these problems, but its prognostic validity is uncertain. The present study sought to test the prediction of long-term outcomes in psychotic disorders was improved when the HiTOP dimensional approach was considered along with traditional (ie, DSM) diagnoses. We analyzed data from the Suffolk County Mental Health Project (N = 316), an epidemiologic study of a first-admission psychosis cohort followed for 20 years. We compared 5 diagnostic groups (schizophrenia/schizoaffective, bipolar disorder with psychosis, major depressive disorder with psychosis, substance-induced psychosis, and other psychoses) and 5 dimensions derived from the HiTOP thought disorder spectrum (reality distortion, disorganization, inexpressivity, avolition, and functional impairment). Both nosologies predicted a significant amount of variance in most outcomes. However, except for cognitive functioning, HiTOP showed consistently greater predictive power across outcomes—it explained 1.7-fold more variance than diagnoses in psychiatric and physical health outcomes, 2.1-fold more variance in community functioning, and 3.4-fold more variance in neural responses. Even when controlling for diagnosis, HiTOP dimensions incrementally predicted almost all outcomes. These findings support a shift away from the exclusive use of categorical diagnoses and toward the incorporation of HiTOP dimensions for better prognostication and linkage with neurobiology.

Abstract:

Traditional diagnostic systems went beyond empirical evidence on the structure of mental health. Consequently, these diagnoses do not depict psychopathology accurately, and their validity in research and utility in clinicalpractice are therefore limited. The Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) consortium proposed a model based on structural evidence. It addresses problems of diagnostic heterogeneity, comorbidity, and unreliability. We review the HiTOP model, supporting evidence, and conceptualization of psychopathology in this hierarchical dimensional framework. The system is not yet comprehensive, and we describe the processes for improving and expanding it. We summarize data on the ability of HiTOP to predict and explain etiology (genetic, environmental, and neurobiological), risk factors, outcomes, and treatment response. We describe progress in the development of HiTOP-based measures and in clinical implementation of the system. Finally, we review outstanding challenges and the research agenda. HiTOP is of practical utility already, and its ongoing development will produce a transformative map of psychopathology.

Abstract:

The categorical model of classification in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders is sorely problematic. A proposed solution is emerging in the form of a quantitative nosology, an empirically based dimensional organization of psychopathology. More specifically, a team of investigators has proposed the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP). The purpose of this article is to discuss the potential role, importance, and implications of personality within the HiTOP dimensional model of psychopathology. Suggested herein is that personality provides a foundational base for the HiTOP dimensional model of psychopathology. Implications concern the potential value of the early assessment of and screening for personality as well as the development of protocols for the treatment of personality trait domains, which may in turn contribute to substantial improvements in quality of life as well as mental and physical health.

Abstract:

For more than a century, research on psychopathology has focused on categorical diagnoses. Although this work has produced major discoveries, growing evidence points to the superiority of a dimensional approach to the science of mental illness. Here we outline one such dimensional system—the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP)—that is based on empirical patterns of co-occurrence among psychological symptoms. We highlight key ways in which this framework can advance mental-health research, and we provide some heuristics for using HiTOP to test theories of psychopathology. We then review emerging evidence that supports the value of a hierarchical, dimensional model of mental illness across diverse research areas in psychological science. These new data suggest that the HiTOP system has the potential to accelerate and improve research on mental-health problems as well as efforts to more effectively assess, prevent, and treat mental illness.

The reliability and validity of traditional classifications give rise to justifiable criticism because of the conventionality of the boundaries between norm and pathology, fuzzy delimitation of disorders and their frequent co-occurrence, heterogeneity and clinical instability of symptoms within the diagnostic categories. There is little evidence that the majority of mental disorders are discrete entities. Discontent with the expert consensus classifications have led to attempts at a new quantitative and empirical systematization of psychopathology. Two alternative projects have been proposed: Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) and the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP). The aim of the paper is to clarify the conceptual framework of RDoC and HiTOP, discuss their advantages and disadvantages in terms of the prospects for use in clinical practice.

Memoria (licenciado en ciencias jurídicas y sociales)<br>No autorizada por el autor para ser publicada a texto completo<br>Naturalmente que la institución en estudio supone una concesión de explotación constituida, con su mensura y el acta de ella perfectamente aprobada e inscrita, puesto que la reposición de hitos, deberá ajustarse estrictamente a lo consignado en dicha acta. Obviamente, el legislador se preocupó de normar en detalle la actividad del ingeniero o perito que realiza la mensura, la reglamentación técnica a que debe ajustarse y entregó al Servicio Nacional de Geología y Minería la facultad de dictar, revisar y fiscalizar tal actividad técnica. Este Servicio, como veremos más adelante, ha dictado lo que llama “circulares para peritos mensuradores” y que no son otra cosa que instrucciones de carácter general que deben respetar tales peritos en el momento de ejecutar una mensura. El estudio detallado de todas las normas pertinentes a la solicitud de mensura, su operación material, su acta y plano y el alcance que tiene en la sentencia, nos mostrará que constituye ésta el pilar fundamental de la institución en estudio. Lo anterior, por cuanto no hay reposición de hitos, sin una mensura previa a la cual debe ceñirse. Nos abocaremos, asimismo, a estudiar en detalle todas las normas técnicas que deben respetarse en la ejecución de una mensura; las normas que necesariamente debe respetar el ingeniero de minas o perito, sus actuaciones en terreno, su conducción de la operación material de mensura y su posterior redacción del acta, la nomenclatura que debe usar y el contenido exacto de dicha acta para que ésta sirva como pieza fundamental en el procedimiento de constitución de la concesión. Veremos, también, la importancia del plano de mensura, la nomenclatura usada en él; las menciones que necesariamente debe consignar y la forma en que debe representar la mensura ejecutada; veremos, por ejemplo, la importancia de este plano, para los efectos de reponer los hitos cuando ello sea necesario. Haremos, finalmente, un análisis pormenorizado de lo que nuestro legislador minero entiende por “Reposición de Hitos”; la importancia de esta operación, sus requisitos de forma y de fondo; las distintas clases de reposición de hitos, sus diversos procedimientos, según la causal que dé lugar a la reposición, las responsabilidades y, por último, las sanciones que proceden.

Abstract:

This study considers a small group of recent video works by artists Melanie Gilligan and Hito Steyerl through the Foucauldian lens of biopolitics. I argue that these works implicitly reveal how biopower viscerally exposes and abstracts the neoliberal subject, constructing it in precarious tension as ostensibly coherent yet infinitely fissionable. Introducing the study by discussing the concept of biopower in Michel Foucault’s work, I also draw on work by Gilles Deleuze, Boris Groys, Brian Massumi, and others to suggest how biopower shapes the subject through ever-expanding forms of surveillance and documentation. Biopower does not merely take advantage of the subject’s legibility, however; instead, I argue, it produces subjectivity through visual and data-driven forms of description that tend to both function and be masked as representation. In the second chapter, I contend that Steyerl’s Strike (2010) and Strike II (2012) and Gilligan’s Popular Unrest (2010) intimate how biopolitical subjecthood is fashioned through photographic, behavioral, physiological, and other technoscientific forms of tracking and modelling. These works propose “strikes” against biopower’s relentlessly visualizing drive. I argue in chapter three that Gilligan’s Popular Unrest and Steyerl’s Lovely Andrea (2007) and Red Alert (2007) make explicit the relationship between contemporary forces of intensity and abstraction (formal, economic, social), revealing them as complementary dimensions of biopower that produce a fractured, divided subject amenable to “orderly” visualization. These works propose the redemptive potential of redeployments of affect. In the fourth chapter, I argue that Gilligan’s Self-Capital and Steyerl’s In Free Fall (both 2009) demonstrate the relationship of global economic crisis to crises of biopolitical subjectivity. Gilligan’s work suggests the character of the archetypical neoliberal subject Foucault describes as “entrepreneur of himself,” tracing its modes of self-production and projecting its imminent collapse. Steyerl’s turns away from the subject, exploring the vitality and agency of the object and questioning object-subject distinctions. In different ways, Gilligan and Steyerl offer proposals for shedding a biopolitical subjectivity that is increasingly untenable. Illuminating the role of visceral exposure in the biopolitics of subjectivation while reconfiguring this very process, their work extends and exceeds other forms of political engagement with the problem of biopolitics.<br>Arts, Faculty of<br>Art History, Visual Art and Theory, Department of<br>Graduate

Abstract:

Ubicada en el antiguo Valle del Matlatzingo, Toluca es la capital de una de las entidades federativas con mayor crecimiento económico y demográfico. En apariencia, la identidad “tradicional” de la ciudad se ha ido diluyendo. El sentimiento de pertenencia de la ciudad por parte de los habitantes es cada vez menor, y por ende, se hace patente el desinterés a los problemas que aquejan a la ciudad: inseguridad, colapso de vialidades debido al tráfico vehicular desmesurado, deficiencias en el transporte público, contaminación ambiental, por mencionar solo algunos. En la presente investigación se planteó diagnosticar la relación histórica entre identidad e hitos de los Portales de Toluca, para lo cual se empleó como Teoría Principal a los Sistemas Complejos, y como teorías secundarias a la Microhistoria, la Topogénesis y el No lugar. Los resultados obtenidos permitieron vislumbrar la relación de la sociedad toluqueña con su ciudad, a pesar de la demolición de su centro histórico. Asimismo, mediante una encuesta exploratoria se definió a los Portales como el hito representativo de la ciudad, y dentro de él, se ubicaron seis antiguos hitos comerciales que permanecen en funciones actualmente, y que

Considerando que el rescate es un proceso dinámico, y que actualmente existen variados tipos de trabajos que se pueden desarrollar para mantener vigente el patrimonio cultural; se buscará ser un aporte a este desarrollo, utilizando el recurso de las redes sociales. Una de las premisas de este proyecto es el auge de las redes sociales y la democratización de la generación de contenidos a nivel mundial. Sin embargo, mirando este contexto desde una perspectiva local, se puede observar que es posible lograr una convergencia entre la historia y las herramientas que la tecnología actual nos ofrece. En el mundo de la publicidad, se habla que las redes sociales han democratizado a los medios. Hoy en día, cualquier persona con acceso a internet, puede generar contenido y distribuirlo de manera inmediata en la red, sin la necesidad de recurrir a medios tradicionales, y sin la necesidad de depender de ellos. Es por esto que este proyecto busca ser parte de esta generación de contenidos, de esta democratización de la información, y conectándola con el patrimonio cultural de Puente Alto.

Memoria de prueba (licenciado en ciencias jurídicas y sociales)<br>El presente trabajo se centrará en el estudio de la literatura jurídica, técnica y económica existente en torno a la regulación de las telecomunicaciones, tanto en nuestro país como en el extranjero. Comenzará con un somero análisis doctrinal de la materia en cuestión, estudiando conceptos básicos en torno a la regulación, la competencia, la calidad de Servicio Público, las concesiones, y algunos otros. Se examinará también la historia reciente del mercado, buscando en dicho pasado los motivos y circunstancias que expliquen el “estado del arte” regulatorio actual. Se explorará la legislación nacional propia del sector, tanto pretérita como vigente, y las resoluciones y dictámenes más relevantes de los tribunales del poder judicial y de los órganos de la libre competencia. Se observarán algunas instituciones básicas de la regulación sectorial, calificando su cometido, en la medida que la extensión de este trabajo lo permita, y, finalmente, se tratará la Portabilidad Numérica, analizando los costos y beneficios que una reforma de dicha naturaleza podría significar para nuestro país. Se realizará, igualmente, en cuanto la materia de estudio lo amerite, análisis comparativos de la experiencia extranjera en materia de regulación de servicio público y de la implementación de los hitos a tratar en este trabajo.

AbstractThis chapter examines the concept of the poor image in relation to a contemporary, critical art education. Coined by Hito Steyerl in 2009, the term describes digital, sometimes poorly resolved image copies, which are proliferating on the internet, often deprived of any context or image information. These new visual forms are accompanied by a shift in the way images are used and reflected, which in turn is central to post-internet art education. The article examines the term poor image and, in a second step, situates it in a contemporary teaching practice. In doing so, the author investigates its performative potential and speculates on how pictorial poorness may lead to pedagogical richness.

Abstract:

The chapter discusses the definition of mental disorder, reviews the biological explanations for vulnerability to disease, and presents a detailed taxonomy of undesirable conditions that may be regarded as disorders in a broad sense (whether or not they involve genuine dysfunctions). After detailing the main evolutionary and developmental processes that can lead to psychopathology, the chapter addresses some important questions about the structure and classification of disorders and the nature of psychiatric comorbidity. The chapter also considers the strengths and weaknesses of other emerging approaches: computational psychiatry, the network approach to psychopathology, the Research Domain Criteria (RDoC), and transdiagnostic models such as the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP).

Abstract:

The DSM-5, published in 2013, met with a mixed reaction. This chapter reviews the history of this edition of the manual, examining its overall strengths and weaknesses. Since DSM-5 was not very different from its predecessors, more radical changes using alternative models have been proposed, such as a fully dimensional system (HITOP) and a system based largely on neuroscience (RDoC). However, the real problems lie in our lack of knowledge about the causes of mental disorders. The series of manuals were always intended to be provisional, but the flaws of the DSM system make it all too easy to overdiagnose its categories.

Abstract:

Transdiagnostic approaches in psychiatry aim to replace qualitative categories with quantitative dimensional ratings. This chapter examines their advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that dimensional scales could address the misleading levels of comorbidity that result from overlap between multiple diagnoses in the DSM-5 system. While transdiagnostic methods have thus far studied most extensively in personality disorders, they can, as proposed by a system called HITOP, be applied to any other group, The review in this chapter concludes that we lack the empirical data that would support such a radical change in diagnostic practices, and that given the complexity of these systems, and their unfamiliarity to clinicians brought up in medical models, they are not yet ready for prime time.

Los contenidos de las asignaturas de carácter científico que se imparten en los Grados Universitarios se centran fundamentalmente en conceptos procedentes de grandes descubrimientos científicos. Sin embargo, los alumnos tienen visiones deformadas de la ciencia ya que se considera que dichos descubrimientos son un producto de mentes perfectas y realidades inmutables. La investigación científica, la comunicación y la aplicación de la ciencia no son etapas independientes, sino que se debe considerar la ciencia, como una actividad social a través de un proceso multidireccional de conocimientos, prácticas, teorías e ideas. Este proyecto pretende que los alumnos conozcan que la ciencia, la sociedad y la tecnología no se pueden concebir aisladamente, sino que están intrinsicamente relacionadas. A través del trabajo en equipo y trabajando desde distintos ámbitos científicos y en distintos Grados, hemos pretendido acercar la vida de los científicos al mundo real, situá¡ndolos en el contexto politico- social del momento, para que los alumnos los conozcan mejor y que usando lenguaje periodístico sean los protagonistas que redacten los grandes hitos del momento.

Abstract:

En los años de 1940 a 1965 en el Instituto Geográfico Nacional se creó una red vertical de nivelación geométrica con Bancos de nivel con ayuda internacional. De esa red existe mucha información análoga, como los son valores de alturas niveladas, gravedad y mapas escaneadas donde se presenta los nodos de los circuitos de nivelación. Sin embargo después de haber realizado las mediciones no se realizó ningún mantenimiento y por tanto a la fecha, se desconoce el estado y existencia de los Bancos de Nivel (BNs). En la Escuela de Ingeniería Topográfica de la UCR, se formula un proyecto de investigación que plantea la necesidad de localizar, diagnosticar la información de esos hitos, y luego actualizar la información a los existentes, eso debido a la gran relevancia que contienen para los trabajos geodésicos desde el punto de vista de referencia de verticalidad y que a la vez serán el insumo para futuras mediciones de nivelación. Esto con la proyección futura de desarrollar un marco altimétrico unificado. Se determinaron con metodología de búsqueda in situ uno a uno, un 10% de los registrados que actualmente se miden con técnicas GNSS para actualizar los datos de registro.

Resumen: Este trabajo aborda algunos de los hitos en la evolución de la comprometida relación que Le Corbusier y L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui mantuvieron a lo largo de más de 30 años. Para ello se exploran las razones que explican la selección y el tratamiento de los materiales publicados por la revista, contrastándolos con documentos de archivo y la correspondencia conservada; se incide en los textos críticos y se ahonda en las condiciones de producción de aquellos números de la revista que ayudan a entender mejor esta parte fundamental de su historia. Abstract: This paper addresses some landmarks in the evolution of the complicated relation that Le Corbusier and L'Architecture d'Aujourd'hui maintained over more than 30 years. To do so, possible reasons for the selection and for the treatment of the published materials are explored; they are also checked with archival records and the evidences provided by the preserved correspondence; critical texts are examined, as well as, the context in which they produced those issues of the magazine that provide a better understanding of this crucial part of its history. En esta, se definen actores y sus roles, tiempos y mecanismos asociados al logro de hitos del programa, y una ruta hacia la consolidación del Plan Estratégico y el Esquema de Financiamiento.
