Full textThis study tries to understand the conditions of granting of the loans of microcredit to population of developing countries more precisely in Benin and along with the impact of these loans on the beneficiaries. We brought to light, by means of a secondary analysis the impacts of microcredit on the beneficiaries. The libraries of the University of Abomey-Calavi and that of Benin national Fund of the microfinance are the main sources of our data. The main results of the study were that the loans of microcredit contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the profitable populations contrary to what certain papers lead to think. These loans allowed beneficiaries to begin generative activities of income, income of which was used for the elementary needs. Although, the conditions of granting of the loans require improvements, they do not prevent in the majority of the cases the realization of the projects for which they were contracted. But these loans can contribute effectively to the fight against poverty if upstream, IMFs gave more credit to medium and long term agricultural activities.

Full textWith the growth of individualism and feminism, the way contemporary individuals experience their own couple have changed significantly. Having regard to the elderly who have experienced their marriage at a time when the conjugal standard was to set aside part of their individuality to concentrate on their conjugal relationship and parenthood, it is important to question how individualism can be seen today within the relationships they experience. To learn more about the situation, we conducted an interview survey with elderly who have entered into a new relationship in the institutional framework of retirement homes. The analysis suggests that the relationship the elderly interviewed experience with their partner is very different from the one which prevailed during their former marriage several years ago. These individuals give more importance to their personal privacy, or at least they seek a balance between their personal privacy and conjugal relationships.

Full textThe present study is on the effects of household debt on wealth inequality in Canada from 1999 to 2012. It aims to contribute to the debate that is currently taking place between two camps, those who view rising household debt as the deterioration of household finances, and those who argue that the level of household debt remains serviceable. Recognizing household debt as a phenomenon situated at the intersection of the labour market and the financial market, we sought to determine its effects on household wealth at two levels of analysis: i) the wealth distribution; and ii) socioeconomic classes. This was accomplished notably by a detailed analysis of the two principal components of wealth (assets and debts), which were decomposed according to an original classification of financial categories. The study of household finances from a stratification perspective allows us to explain precisely what the principal explanation of household debt, the lifecycle hypothesis, cannot: the reasons why the rise in household debt between 1999 and 2012 was so spectacular. The study of household debt through the prism of social inequality allows us to highlight a fact that is rarely acknowledged: wealth inequality reflects important differences in borrowing capacities. The results show that the rise in household debt observed between 1999 and 2012, as remarkable as it was, did not lead to the deterioration of household finances, but it did lead to an increase in wealth inequality between socioeconomic classes. These results invite us to view credit as a facet of modern household savings, a leading factor of inequality and a form of social exclusion.

Full textState surveillance of the poor has a long history. It begins several centuries ago, more precisely with the creation of modern nation-states. According to social theorists, the strengthening of the state’s surveillance capabilities results from both mass bureaucracy and democracy. It also stems from people’s desire to assert their civil rights. This thesis examines state supervision from a welfare recipient point of view. It aims to identify recipients’ rationales and practices of resistance. We interviewed 19 participants from both cities of Montreal and Quebec City. Results suggest the extent of resistance at work: two different resistance rationales, as well as six tactical moves emerged from our analysis.

Full textClimate change represents what science says and what politics is increasingly taking into account (Ouranos, 2015). The purpose of this thesis aims to document the implementation of the two last action plans against global warming, prepared by the Governement of Québec, namely Le Québec et les changements climatiques : un défi pour l’avenir. Plan d’action 2006-2012, and Le Québec en action. Vert 2020. Plan d’action 2013-2020 sur les changements climatiques. At the junction between the analysis of public action (Matland, 1995 ; Kübler et Maillard, 2009) and the theoretical framework of the ecological modernization and its tradition of the public policies sociology (Béal, 2016), this thesis tries to answer two questions : how is the implementation carried out and why are there successes and difficulties to this adoption? Québec gets its foot in a low-carbon society, through the wind and hydroelectric energy tandem. However, fighting against climate change represents a major challenge, which Québec has accepted with an ambitious target. The PACC 2006-2012 got some basis implemented, but there remains a lot to do and outcomes remain unknown : will the PACC 2013-2020 achieve its greenhouse gas emissions reduction target of 20 % below the line of 1990 (Gouvernement du Québec, 2012a, p. I) ? At march 31, 2016, one notes the under-implementation of the PACC 2013-2020, since 22 % only of the planned budget had already been spent (MDDELCC, 2017a, p. 46). Greenhouse gas emissions reduction and climate change adaptation are lagging behind projections. The thesis fits into the theoretical framework of the ecological modernization (Huber, 1982 ; Spaargaren et Mol, 1992 ; Hajer, 1995 ; Jänicke, 1995 ; Mol, 2003 ; Christoff, 2009 ; Spaargaren et al., 2009 ; Toke, 2011), which many people present as the sociological version of the sustainable development project, focused on state and industrial actors, then the civil society (Buttel, 2003). Moreover, source of analytical and comprehensive wealth, which escapes from quantitative studies, the preferred method is semi-directive interviews (Fortin, 2013) with the supervisors of the two PACC, public authorities for the greater part, as well as content analysis (Leray, 2008) for data treatment. But the obvious limitations of the indicators and the qualitative method involve a partial validation of the hypotheses. Otherwise, the ecological modernization thesis takes place in a long-term perspective and requires time for an empirical testing (Guay, 2018)...
Graziani, Claire Taugeron. "Les dynamiques associatives dans la gestion du littorale en Corse." Master's thesis, Université Laval, 2012. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11794/23523.
Full textThe current question of Corsica’s coastal regions has been the subject of many debates. Various associations and citizen groups have made public their disapproval of the current politics surrounding the matter, stirring up many questions in regards to the current governance of the territory, problematic in the eyes of the associations and concerned citizens. This has lead to many territorial conflicts that have yet to be resolved. Therefore this research focuses on the diagnostics of the associations when the conflicts emerge. Also it is of interest to know the means of action used by these associations, their objectives, and the effects of their actions on the coastal governance.
