Heme oxygenase (HO) is the rate-limiting intracellular enzyme of heme catabolism. Overexpressed HO-1 can inhibit the apoptosis of tumor cells and promote tumor growth and metastasis, and (HO-1) has been considereded to play a major role in the pathogenesis of many tumors. Medulloblastomas (MB) are the most common malignant brain tumors in children and constitute 20% of all pediatric brain tumors. However, there is no report about clinicopathological significance of HO-1 and HO-2 expression in medulloblastoma (MB). In the present study, to explore the expression and potential function of HO in

Background. Intestinal barrier injury is an important contributor to many diseases. We previously found that heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and carbon monoxide (CO) protect the intestinal barrier. We induced gut leakiness by injecting carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) to wildtype or intestinal HO-1-deficient mice. In addition, we administrated tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) to cells with gain- or loss-of-HO-1 function. The effects of HO-1/CO maintaining intestinal barrier integrity were investiga

We have previously shown marked induction of the stress-inducible gene heme oxygenase-1 ( HO-1) in vivo and in vitro after hyperoxia. In our present study, further deletional and mutational analyses demonstrate that signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) DNA binding sites located in the promoter of HO-1 and activator protein (AP)-1 DNA binding sites in the distal enhancer element SX2 are necessary for optimal HO-1

Both HO-1 and HO-2 were expressed in zona fasciculata (ZF) adrenal cells and in a mouse adrenocortical cell line (Y1). HO-1 but not HO-2 expression was upregulated by adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and accumulation of HO-1 protein correlated with an increase in HO activity in Y1 cells. Abstract:
Oroginal Objectives: (i) identify DNA markers linked to the avirulence (Avr) locus and locate the Avr locus through genetic mapping with an inter-race Orobanche cumana population; (ii) develop high-throughput fingerprint DNA markers for genotypingO. cumana races; (iii) identify nucleotide binding domain leucine rich repeat (NB-LRR) genes encoding R proteins conferring resistance to O. cumana in sunflower; (iv) increase the resolution of the chromosomal segment harboring Or₅ and related R genes through genetic and physical mapping in previously and newly developed mapping populations of sunflow

Dlhodobé príčiny absencie technologických lídrov v EÚ: • Nedostatok európskych technologických lídrov odráža neschopnosť Európy stimulovať inovácie v kľúčových odvetviach, ako sú informačné a komunikačné technológie. • Významným faktorom je nedostatok dlhodobých úspor a významnej burzy cenných papierov v EÚ, pričom deficit trhovej kapitalizácie v porovnaní s OECD predstavuje 10,4 bilióna EUR (Marques & Portuese, 2023). • EÚ prijala rozsiahlu legislatívu, aby sa stala regulačnou veľmocou, ktorej cieľom je chrániť používateľov a podporovať hospodársku súťaž. Tieto predpisy však často predsta
