Integrative Oncology (IO) programs are increasingly emerging at cancer centers and universities worldwide; often these include some combination of clinical service, research, and/or training. However, one gap that often occurs is in moving research results into practice, due to complexities and differences between research and service delivery models and priorities. We recently created the ACTION (Alberta Complementary Therapy and Integrative Oncology) Centre with the goal of partnering with the provincial public health service to promote and facilitate evidence-based integrative oncology care

Abstract:
The challenge to mitigate climate change and to limit global warming to well below 2 °C according to the Paris Agreement, requires a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions not only in transportation, but also in industry.[1] The Haber-Bosch process for the production of ammonia, NH3, is one of the most important industrial processes, but significantly contributes to the world’s annual CO2 emissions.[2] Photocatalytic reduction of dinitrogen (NRR) offers a sustainable alternative for the synthesis of ammonia. Some of the highest activities so far were achieved with carbon nitride (C3N4) photocat

IntroductionCognitive impairment, an important complication in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), seriously affects self-management of the disease and quality of life (QoL). As an exercise-based intervention programme, pulmonary rehabilitation (PR)—especially aerobic exercise (mainly mind–body exercise) and resistance exercise (RE)—has been proposed for its potential effectiveness in improving cognitive function. However, there is still a lack of strong evidence for PR’s effectiveness. In this study, we expect to clarify the effects of pulmonary-based Qigong exercise a

Background: Following cancer treatment, adults commonly report worsened patient-reported outcomes (PROs) such as anxiety, stress, depression, persistent and upsetting cognitive complaints, unrelenting fatigue, and reduced quality of life. Poorer PROs are associated with disrupted autonomic nervous system functioning as measured by heart rate variability (HRV), both of which have been associated with greater morbidity and mortality. Interventions to improve HRV and PROs among adults following cancer treatment are needed. Yoga therapy holds promise as an intervention to improve HRV and PROs. The

Abstract Background Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD, Crohn’s disease [CD], ulcerative colitis [UC]) are chronic immune-mediated systemic diseases with unknown aetiology. In the past few years, experimental studies revealed associations of human serum and plasma metabolites’ with IBD with a possible discriminative power between IBD and healthy subjects. Our study focused on the utility of plasma metabolome profiling as a diagnostic marker in patients with different phenotypes. Methods IBD patients were enrolled in a double-centre prospective cohort study. Large number of healthy subjects were

However, the profiling of serum antigen, antigenome, remains poorly known.ObjectivesThe study aimed to investigate the serum antigenomic profiling and determine potential diagnostic biomarkers using label-free proteomic technology impleme

Abstract STUDY QUESTION Can the accuracy of timing of luteal phase endometrial biopsies based on urinary ovulation testing be improved by measuring the expression of a small number of genes and a continuous, non-categorical modelling approach? SUMMARY ANSWER Measuring the expression levels of six genes (IL2RB, IGFBP1, CXCL14, DPP4, GPX3 and SLC15A2) is sufficient to obtain substantially more accurate timing estimates and to assess the reliability of timing estimates for each sample.
