Abstract:
The internet of Things for Smart Home is here to offer convenience in controlling electrical devices or lectronic devices remotely by only giving voice commands that have been integrated with Google Assistant services, now traveling home in uncertain times no longer need to worry about turning on or turn off electrical appliances at home with a smart home. The design of this prototype tool implements lights and fans as electrical devices, in making smart home systems require a microcontroller namely the ESP8266 NodeMCU V3 CH340 module as MQTT Broker protocol, IFTTT as a subscriber, and the publisher Google Assistant using MTTQ (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) method. MQTT used today is using a free cloud server provided by Adafruit. Based on the results of testing the prototype of the IoT-based smart home control system with the MQTT method using google assistant proved that the number of tests for Relay 1, Relay 2 and Relay 3 is six(6), succeeded 5 and failed 1 then the accuracy of success on Relay 1 testing was 88%. Only by giving the command "Ok Google turn on/off the lamp 1 or turn on/off a fan" to the Google Assistant installed on the Smartphone, lights and fans can be controlled remotely as long as NodeMCU ESP8266 gets an internet network.

Abstract:
Providing IPTV in the IMS network is increasingly a problem solved today. All households are gradually passing through innovation and slowly every equipment becomes the so-called intelligent or smart and can be connected to a private or public network where it can be monitored, configured, diagnosed and then repaired.. This same upgrading takes place in television, and its current output is in the form of IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) provided in the IP Multimedia Subsystem Network, a new generation network that provides both audio and video data. IMS has originated in 1999 for the 3GPP standard in the 5th edition when switching from a 2G network to a 3G network. It has supported the older GSM and GPRS networks, but also a new UMTS network. In the sixth edition, it also has began to work on WLAN networks, more voice-oriented, or speech recognition services. This paper focuses on the provision of IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) in the IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) network. The aim of our paper is to design IPTV services in the IMS network, define the IMS architecture and the IMS network components such as HSS (Home Subscriber Server), various types of CSCF (Call State Control Function), describe the functionality and services provided by IMS and IPTV and, finally, compare the quality of the IPTV service provided by our network and by network of selected operator.

Abstract:
This research enhances a home security service with information stations. The service is based on a web-based multiple stations supervisory control framework. A service server (or cloud) kept in a company to serve numerous homes for security monitoring. Arduino controllers are used as home security controllers. An Arduino controller senses door switch, motion detection, smoke detection, gas detection, CO detection, an emergency button, RFID tag, and a spare sensing contact. The controller also drives door lock, two relays to perform security task. RFID is used to help personnel in/out management and alert enable/disable. The controller reads inputs, uploads input/output data to the service server, executes commands from the server, and drives output continuously. Camera servers are added to a house to provide video surveillance. Camera alert events are sent to the service server. Information stations, like earthquake alert station and weather station, are established in the server to provide environmental information. Users can subscribe certain information data and put them in the control laws of the Arduino controllers with condition control. With input/output authorization, the home security of one user is associated with others. Therefore, the whole security service forms a social security group.

Abstract:
This paper describes the architecture, design patterns, and implementation of a Unified Communications Solution (UCS) over a home grown thin implementation of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). This thin-IMS implementation makes use of IMS core components, and can serve as a first step towards migration to full IMS. The unified communications solution offers a rich set of services including duplex VoIP, video conferencing, instant messaging, media sharing, child position tracking, active contacts, and email reading. Subscriber profile is leveraged by a targeted video advertisement preview service as a payment method for calls terminating at landline or mobile networks. Subscribers can also use prepaid service for calls terminating outside of the IP networks. In addition to system and software design patterns, the paper addresses critical deployment issues, such as scalability, NAT traversal, network interconnect, ease of service provisioning and administration, and last but not least, user experience. Finally, the paper contrasts the thin-IMS platform to 3GPP standard IMS release 7 specifications.

Abstract:
The value of a partnership between teachers and parents in the promotion of children's literacy appears self-evident. It symbolizes both the school's accountability to the community it serves and the complementary responsibility of families to support the school's agenda of empowering their children with the tools of civilization. Many parents and teachers across the world perceive, however, that there is something amiss with the relations between them. On the one hand, they share an interest in the literacy development of the same children, and in some sense, they subscribe to an implicit contract to share responsibility for promoting it. Yet, disagreement frequently arises about how this contract is to be executed in practice. In this eclectic review of research, I consider three complementary ways in which the nature of the connection between children's homes and the schools they attend can be problematized, each focusing on a different criterial dimension for evaluating the home-school connection: (a) congruence of family life with the agenda of schooling, (b) intimacy, or depth of understanding, between teachers and parents, and (c) sociocultural productivity of the interaction between the school and its students' home communities.

Abstract:
The goal of this paper is to identify all the essential costs of building broadband access networks, and then to comparise different technologies in various scenarios. Different market segments (Scenarios) have different geographical characteristics and will require different amounts of access bandwidth. These different market segments will be served by alternative access technologies that minimise overall costs. In order to do this, we have developed a model framework and an evaluation tool. To measure the attractiveness of several broadband access technologies, the proposed tool compares the costs, revenues, NPV, IRR, payback periods etc for 3 scenarios. The paper presents a techno‐economic analysis of 8 broadband technologies for access networks: digital subscriber line (DSL), hybrid fibre coax (HFC), power line communications (PLC), fibre to the home (FTTH), fibre to the curb (FTTC), fibre to the cabinet (FTTCab), and wireless alternatives such as WiMAX and satellite.

Kalaichelvan, Niranjanan. "Distributed Traffic Load Scheduler based on TITANSim for System Test of a Home Subscriber Server (HSS)." Thesis, KTH, Skolan för informations- och kommunikationsteknik (ICT), 2011. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:kth:diva-50066.

Full text
Abstract:
The system test is very significant in the development life cycle of a telecommunication network node. Tools such as TITANSim are used to develop the test framework upon which a load test application is created. These tools need to be highly efficient and optimized to reduce the cost of the system test. This thesis project created a load test application based on the distributed scheduling architecture of TITANSim, whereby multiple users can be simulated using a single test component. This new distributed scheduling system greatly reduces the number of operating system processes involved, thus reducing the memory consumption of the load test application; hence higher loads can be easily simulated with limited hardware resources. The load test application used for system test of the HSS is based on the central scheduling architecture of TITANSim. The central scheduling architecture is a function test concept, where every user is simulated by a single test component. In the system test several thousand users are simulated by the test system. Therefore, the load application based on central scheduling architecture uses thousands of test components leading to high memory consumption in the test system. In this architecture, the scheduling of test components is centralized which results in a lot of communication overhead within the test system, as thousands of test components communicate with a master scheduling component during the test execution. On the other hand, in the distributed scheduling architecture the scheduling task is performed locally by each test component. There is no communication overhead within the test system. Therefore, the test system is highly efficient. In the distributed scheduling architecture the traffic flow of the simulated users are described using the Finite State Machines (FSMs). The FSMs are specified in the configuration files that are used by the test system at run time. Therefore, implementing traffic cases using the distributed scheduling architecture becomes simpler and faster as there is no (TTCN-3) coding/compilation. The HSS is the only node (within Ericsson) whose system test is performed using the central scheduling architecture of TITANSim. The other users (nodes) of TITANSim are using the distributed scheduling architecture for its apparent benefits. Under this circumstance, this thesis project assumes significance for the HSS. When a decision to adapt the distributed scheduling architecture is made for the system test of the HSS, the load application created in this thesis project can be used as a model, or extended for the migration of the test modules for the HSS from the central scheduling architecture to the distributed scheduling architecture. By creating this load application we have gained significant knowledge of the TITANSim framework; most importantly, the necessary modifications to the TITANSim framework required to create a distributed scheduling architecture based load application for the HSS. The load application created for this project was used to (system) test the HSS by generating load using real system test hardware. The results were analytically compared with the test results from the existing load application (which is based on the central scheduling architecture). The analysis showed that the load application based on distributed scheduling architecture is efficient, utilizes less test system resources, and capable of scaling up the load generation capacity

Peyman, Talebifard. "Integration of heterogeneous wireless access networks with IP multimedia subsystem." Thesis, University of British Columbia, 2008. http://hdl.handle.net/2429/2893.

Full text
Abstract:
Next generation heterogeneous wireless networks are expected to interwork with Internet Protocol (IP)-based infrastructures. Conventional network services operate like silos in that a specific set of services are offered over a specific type of access network. As access networks evolve to provide IP-based packet access, it becomes attractive to break these “service silos” by offering a converged set of IP-based services to users who may access these services using a number of alternative access networks. This trend has started with third generation cellular mobile networks, which have standardized on the use of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) to manage user access to a wide variety of multimedia services over the mobile Internet, while facilitating interworking of heterogeneous wireless and landline access networks. The future users of communication systems will subscribe to both IP-based and Circuit Switched (CS) based services and in the foreseeable future a single database that handles user profiles across all domains will be required. Home Subscriber Server (HSS) as an evolved version of Home Location Register (HLR) is one of the key components of IMS. In deploying HSS as a central repository database, in a fully overlapped heterogeneous network setting, changes of access mode are very frequent and conveying this information to HSS imposes excessive signaling load and delay. In our proposed scheme we introduce an Interface Agent (IA) for each location area that caches the location and information about the access mode through which a user can be reached. This method results in significant amount of savings in signaling cost and better delay performance. The existing call delivery approaches in cellular networks may not be well suited for future communication systems because they suffer from unnecessary usage of network resources for call attempts that may fail which adds to excessive signaling delays and queuing costs. Reducing the number of queries and retrievals from the database will have a significant impact on the network performance. We present a new scheme based on Reverse Virtual Call setup (RVC) as a solution to the call delivery problem in heterogeneous wireless networks and evaluate the performance of this framework.

Abstract:
This Master’s thesis deals with IMS architecture problems. This thesis describes its creation and progress, also structure of this architecture is mentioned. Text of this thesis describes function of the most important parts of the architecture, such as Proxy-CSCF, Interrogating-CSCF, Serving-CSCF and HSS. IMS architecture uses SIP protocol for establishment, maintenance and closing session and Diameter protocol for network management functions. That is why this thesis also describes characteristics of these two protocols. Next part of the thesis is focused on Open-source platform Open IMS Core and its installation. Open IMS Core platform was developed for testing IMS technologies within an internal project at the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS in Berlin. Nowadays it is used by major part of vendors and providers for testing their products and services. As a main theme of this thesis, there was made a simple network, which consists of three users. This network is established on fundamentals of IMS and it was made in Open IMS Core. So in one chapter is outlined a process of its creation. There is described a process of adding a user list to database server HSS. In the next part there are mentioned some information about setup of virtual IMS terminal. Eventually there are shown some possibilities of how to catch traffic in the network. In this chapter there are also state diagrams, which describe a process of registration of IMS terminal and also a process of establishment, maintenance and closing session.

Tara, a twenty-seven-year-old classically trained pianist with a masters degree in music, subscribes to the Tin Pan Alley method of music production, conceptualizing the song as a distinct entity from the recording. In search of a more polished sound than she has been able to achieve recording herself with Logic, Tara hired a friend of a friend to serve as the sound engineer for a week of home recording sessions. Battling the unflattering acoustics of a concrete loft apartment, noisy neighbors, the unapologetic New York subway, the trappings of perfectionism, and the creeping resentment that stems from communication breakdowns, Tara questioned if she would be better off going to a professional recording studio, but persevered to see her project through to the stage of mixing.

Abstract:
The “Little Readers’ Circle” was born as an attempt to encourage reading in a class of young adolescents. One of the authors worked in a middle school that served a socially and economically weak area in the North of Italy. The class, in its first year at the school, was composed of 11-to-12-year-olds. Over the course of a school year, one hour a week was spent sharing what had been read at home, presenting books that had been particularly loved, writing quotes on a dedicated poster, reading out favourite passages. Thanks to a well-organised school library and to enthusiastic support staff, all children could access books, some of them reading three books a month. Many even subscribed to the City Library to be able to continue reading over school holidays.

Abstract:
Cryptography has been used since ancient times in many different shapes and forms to protect messages from being intercepted. However, since 1976, cryptography started to be part of protected public communication when e-mail became commonly used by the public. Webmail (or Web-based e-mail) is an e-mail service intended to be primarily accessed via a web browser, as opposed to through an e-mail client, such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla‘s Thunderbird Mail. Very popular webmail providers include Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail and AOL. Web based email has its advantages, especially for people who travel. Email can be collected by simply visiting a website, negating the need for an email client, or to logon from home. Wherever a public terminal with Internet access exists one can check, sends and receive email quickly and easily. Another advantage of web based email is that it provides an alternate address allowing user to reserve his/her ISP address for personal use. If someone would like to subscribe to a newsletter, enter a drawing, register at a website, participate in chats, or send feedback to a site, a web based email address is the perfect answer. It will keep non-personal mail on a server for you to check when you wish, rather than filling up your private email box. Web service is defined as “a software system designed to support interoperable machine-to-machine interaction over a network”. Web services are frequently just Internet application programming interfaces (API) that can be accessed over a network, such as the Internet, and executed on a remote system hosting the requested services. Other approaches with nearly the same functionality as web services are Object Management Group‘s (OMG) Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), Microsoft‘s Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) or SUN‘s Java/Remote Method Invocation (RMI). Integrating Encryption with web service could be performing in many ways such as: XML Encryption and XML Signature. In this article we present client and Web-based E-mail, next generation E-mail and secure E-mail, followed by cryptography in web service and the last part is the future of web service security. The article start with the integration of cryptography with E-mail client and web base then the integration of cryptography and web service is presented. At the end of the major two sections: e-mail service and web service there is a general prospect vision of encryption future for e-mail service and web service. This section presents our view for the cryptography integration with the second generation of e-mail and web service.
