The aim of this work was to investigate if the performance of hidden Markov models could be improved by ignoring the subsequences that exhibit high variability, and only concentrate on the truly conserved regions. The aim of this project was to analyze four RIPs (Crml, Drongo, Dribble and eIF5A) in <I>Drosophila melanogaster. </I>Two RIPs, Drongo and Dribble, are encoded by genes that lie about 20 kb apart in the 21D/E region of the <I>Drosophila </I>genome. In this study full-length genomic sequences of CslF6 were obtained from multiple Avena species. Three unique alleles were found in each A. sativa line. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the major type of primary liver cancer which is well-known for its high heterogenicity and metastatic potential. The Ras family of small GTPases are mutated in a significant fraction of human cancers, with high frequencies of KRAS mutations found in colon, lung and pancreatic cancers. In our study, we identify that depletion of ERH causes greater toxicity in cancer cells with mutations in the small GTPase KRAS compared with KRAS WT cells.
