Bulbophyllum obtusangulum Z.H. Tsi has long been treated as a synonymy of B. lepidum (Blume) J.J. Sm., which is broadly distributed in Southeast Asia. In this paper, based on a re-evaluation of morphological characters and critical study of herbarium specimens and protologue, B. obtusangulum is proposed as a heterotypic synonym of B. tseanum (S.Y. Hu & Barretto) Z.H. Tsi, which was previously regarded as endemic to Hong Kong.

A new species, Zingiber ventricosum, endemic to Yunnan Province of southwestern China, is described and illustrated. It is similar to Z. oligophyllum, Z. thorelii and Z. xishuangbannaense in having much-reduced ligules, usually elongated petioles, flower shape and glabrous ovaries. Zingiber ventricosum, however, is readily distinguished from its three relatives by having erect peduncles and convex bracts that are inflated at their bases and acuminate and wide-spreading at their apices. These four species belong to Zingiber sect. Cryptanthium and together compose the informal “Z. oligophyllum c

Japanese plum (Prunus salicina Lindley) is a deciduous tree in the family Rosaceae. In Korea, this plant is widely distributed in orchards as an important stone fruit as well as in gardens as an ornamental tree because of their abundant white blossoms. Every September to November since 2001, leaf spots were observed on Japanese plum in a garden in Cheongyang, Chungnam District, Korea. Early symptoms consisted of small, brown spots that were 2 to 5 mm in diameter. Abstract Founded in the 1870s, the Hong Kong Herbarium emerged not only as China’s first public herbarium but also as one of the most prominent botanical institutions in the region during the first half of the twentieth century.
