Abstract:
This article research subject are features of landscape descriptions in the novel by Honore de Balzac «Letters of Two Brides». The novel was written in 1841 and is included in «Scenes of private life», which the writer dedicates it to Georges Sand. The author of the article bases the analysis of Balzac’s book on the landscape descriptions given by L. N. Dmitriyevskaya. She defines the landscape as an artistic image of nature, a «portrait» of the soul and person’s worldview and an image of the world. The landscapes in the novel are multifaceted and include a love motive related to the development of one of the main themes of «Scenes from private life» - topics of women’s happiness. It is manifested in two variations: amour spiritualis (spiritual love) and amour infernalis (love to oneself, love-passion). In the course of work we use historical-literary method, cultural-historical method and method of motive analysis. The relevance and novelty of research is related to the significance of the creativity of Honoré de Balzac in the history of world literature, the constant interest of foreign and domestic scientists to problems of writer’s style and attention to modern literacy study to the ethics of descriptions as an important element of the artistic world and low knowledge of the characteristics of the Balzac’s narrative technique. Landscape descriptions in the novel by Honore de Balzac «Letters of Two Brides» are considered as an important compositional element in the narrative structure. They serve as an exposure to each new stage of heroines’ life. Nature descriptions become «portraits of soul», reflecting the difference in the natures of girls. And yet the landscape becomes one of the main image system components, forming the symbolic space of heaven or hell.

Fedyk, Tamara. "ARTISTIC MODELS OF ADDICTIVE BEHAVIOR IN O. MYKOLAYCHUK AND NEDA NEZHDANA'S PLAY "HONORE, AND WHERE IS BALZAC?"." LITERARY PROCESS: methodology, names, trends, no. 19 (2022): 77–84. http://dx.doi.org/10.28925/2412-2475.2022.19.10.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of poetics of artistic models of protagonists' addictive behavior in the play by O. Mykolaychuk and Neda Nezhdana "Honore, and where is Balzac?". The relevance of the study is due to the notable increase in the number of interdisciplinary investigations. It contributes to a significant expansion of the range of aspects of research in the literature, especially the researches devoted to the analysis of works of art through the prism of psychology. This study was conducted using modeling, psychological and poetological analysis. The content of the concepts of "addiction" and "addictive behavior" was clarified; the potential signs of addiction that can be realized in the play were singled out, taking into account the specifics of the characterization of the characters in the play, and as a result, the models of addictive behavior were determined. Knote, Honore de Balzac and Evelina Hanska are carriers of addictive behavior and form a system of images-addicts in the play by O. Mykolaychuk and Neda Nezhdana "Honore, where is Balzac?". The interpersonal addiction of the characters is distinguished by three striking features: compulsive behavior, the reaction of the individual to the mention of his addiction or object of addiction, and manipulation of other people to achieve their own goals related to the object of addiction. Playwrights use a number of tools to create images of actors – representatives of addictive behavior, including lexical (the presence of specific tokens and their repetitions), morphological (a significant number of adjectives and verbs with negative connotations) and syntactic (incomplete sentences and exclamatory sentences, rhetorical questions, remarks-phrases, which are aimed at describing the actions and disclosing the internal state of the actors). Given the results, we see the prospect in further analysis of the poetics of artistic models of addictive behavior on the basis of other plays of modern Ukrainian drama, thus expanding the object of study.

Abstract:
The present study considers the problem of the relationship between semantics and morphology of nouns in the syntactic function of the subject in the modern French literary language. This work aims to answer the questions of whether the syntactic function is not indifferent to the semantic nature of the noun and whether any noun can be used in the function of the subject. The text fragments taken from the works of classic French writers Honore de Balzac, Emile Zola, André Maurois, François Moryac, etc. have been investigated. The total length of the analyzed texts taken in equal portions of 100 phrases per work was 85,000 tokens. The general methodological principles of this study are the provisions on the dialectical connection between language and thinking, on the one hand, and language and reality, on the other. The findings show that the choice of grammatical forms of a noun in these syntactic functions is not random and it is determined by the patterns of thought formation, which reflects the objective situation.

Abstract:
This paper analyzes the dramatic color of Honore de Balzac's novels "Shagreen" (1831) and "Father Goriot" (1834). Using symbolic colors, different color details and motives, color and light accents, decoloration Balzac creates dramatic contrasts, transforms the time, reveals the inner state of the characters. The writer's works are the result of the brilliant application of the reflex theory to literature suggested by Eugene Delacroix, a painter and Balzac's contemporary. Artistic intensity and the diversity of color elements in Balzac's novels are one of the vivid steps on the way to the chromatic and not just color cinema as Eisenstein wrote. The correlation of prose and film was one of the main subjects of Nina Anosova's research. A talented literary and film scholar and teacher, a Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and Histroy Institute (IFLI) graduate, she spent over 55 years teaching at VGIK. Such prominent filmmakers as Marlene Khutsiev, Andrei Tarkovsky, Vasily Shukshin, Gennady Shpalikov, Yuri Arabov, Karen Shakhnazarov, Vadim Abdrashitov, Sergey Loznitsa, etc. were among her pupils. Abstract:
Abstract This study analyses chivalry, materialism, and the grotesque in Alberto Blest Gana’s El ideal de un calavera [The Ideal of a Rogue] (1863) under the light of Miguel de Cervantes’s Don Quijote’s part II (1615). It underscores the legacy of Cervantes on the Chilean author especially in his reflections on nation building. Unlike its author, Don Quijote eluded restriction and successfully reached the colonies; once there, author and text became a massive influence on intellectuals in the burgeoning Americas. Blest Gana, for example, created protagonists who were multi-dimensional and imbued with quixotic overtones. Praised by his counterparts, he created work that was finely detailed, with a goal of portraying the nation’s cultural practices at specifics points in history. Deploying techniques inspired by Honore de Balzac (also a reader of Don Quijote), Blest Gana illustrated the colourful aspects of his society. His sharp eye depicted and interpreted nationhood and society through the course of dramatic historical events in El ideal de un calavera by shining a bright light on the political and social enemies who emerged in the historical unravelling of the nation in the 1830s. The resulting kaleidoscope of astute, idealistic and cowardly individuals conveyed subtle yet definite Cervantesque tones.

Abstract:
The article proves the importance of the philosophy of things, clothes/shoes in the literary works, scientific article, and memoirs of Viktor Petrov-Domontovych. This theme is analyzed in the context of the philosophy of clothing of Tomas Carlyle and Barbe d`Oréville. An analysis of works “The Girl with the Bear,” “Doctor Seraficus,” “Alina and Kostomarov,” and the article “Petersburg Tales of Gogol” shows that in Viktor Petrov`s works there is a complex of motives: eccentric – saint – traveler – man – villain – boots/shoes (thing) – gait – poetry. Observations of the dynamics of images in each work also revealed an important intertext: a dialogue with Georges Duhamel (the novel “The Diary of a Saint” and a theoretical essay on vers libre “Theory of Free Poem” (written with Sh. Vildrak)); intertextual connections with Honore de Balzac`s novel “Seraphite”; Barbe d’Oréville`s essay “Dendism and George Bremmel”; and polemic works by Ivan Vyshenskii. In the article it is also shown how these motives emerge in Victor Petrov`s memoirs. It is argued that in the works by Viktor Petrov the motif of shoes/boots is one of the most important: it actualizes both the philosophy of things and the motives of the poet, vers libre, holiness, and traveler; also it should be underlined that the metonymy is the most important trope for creation of the images in the literary works by Viktor Petrov.

Abstract:
<p>The article continues the series of publications by the author on the art of the Renaissance and the work of Botticelli. The author's concept of “classical art” allows us to establish closer connections with subsequent stages of artistic development, as well as with the Early Renaissance. The multi-level structure of Botticelli’s art and the “collage” nature of his works are substantiated. The “universality” of the classics correlates with the gaming strategies of Neoplatonism and Gnosticism. The features that bring the intellectual culture of the Renaissance closer to modern scientific and artistic trends are revealed. New contexts and parallels (Michael Psellus, Honore de Balzac, Arthur Schopenhauer, Alois Riegl, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein) allow us to re-evaluate the transformation of the Neoplatonic tradition in European culture. The author rejects rigid interpretations of Gnosticism and Neoplatonism in connection with the work of Botticelli, preferring an “aesthetic” or “poetic” reading. Within the framework of this essentially psychological approach, the author draws attention to the problem of “presence” (“life-likeness”), characteristic of both medieval and modern art. Social issues of interpretation of classical art are touched upon in the article in connection with elements of elitism in the culture of the Medici circle. The concept of “poetry”, developed by Petrarch and Boccaccio and going back to ancient prototypes, is fully consistent with this type of “court” culture, which played a decisive role in the development of classical art. The "decadence" of the late Quattrocento and the work of Botticelli as its highest expression were thus the result of very complex intellectual strategies that were continued during the High Renaissance and Mannerism. Particular attention in the article is paid to the revision of the usual views on the historiography of the Renaissance, the actualization of classical art historical concepts. The article returns to the problem of the origins of the semiotic concept of art. Pragmatism and the “irrational” concept of art (appealing to the unconscious) turn out to be quite compatible, that has particular theoretical significance for the revaluation of conventional approaches to the classical heritage.</p>

Abstract:
