Full textThis research questions the links between activity, vigilance and breaks during night shift in a healthcare environment. The night shift is tiresome and difficult because the worker must fight against somnolence and perform in a state of nocturnal deactivation of his or her organism (circadian rhythm). This double effort is the cause of the over tiredness, which can cause errors and potential risks of accidents and incidents. To face this state of fatigue, the employee on the night shift needs a break. However, in an environment characterized by how much work is done collectively as in hospital taking a break is influenced by this collective activity. Thus, after analysis of the activity of the night shift of personnel of French cardiology hospital, this thesis recommands that collecty performance allow not only to take collective breaks but also to make them longer. Morever, breaks depending on their duration have a distinct impact on vigilance. Indeed, longer breaks improve vigilance and shorter breaks stabilize vigilance. Besides, a break is a mean interpersonal regulation og rehability on a team

Full textIn the study of the dysfunctions of the national systems of health in sub-Saharan africa, the difficult current relations between patients (users and hospital staff(personnel)) must be understood by their integration with a historical heritage relating to colonial medicine. The problem of the perception of the public hospital in Gabon try to analyze at the same time the difficult relationships and the various stakes which cross the everyday life of the care in hospital life in Libreville. Since the middle of the years 1980, more and more gabonese' patients meet enormous diificulties to look after itself in the public hospitals. How the populations (medical staff and patients) of Libreville represent then the care in the CHL, the greatest medical formation of Gabon? In addition, why the patients continue to visit this public hospital in spite of its dysfunctions and its bad reputation near its users? A fine and descriptive ethnography of the "General Hospital" of Libreville enabled us to analyze the practices, the speeches, logics of actors and other issues which are played around the taking care of the patients. The gabonese' hospital, although being a modern place of vexercise of the biomedical practice, is presented in the form of a "social microcosm" reflecting the social inequalities, the relations of being able, the importance of the money and the acquaintances, the extent of the practices of corruption, the weight of the popualr representations on sorcery and illness, the religious beliefs and many other characteristics defining the gabonese society of today

Full textThe hospital is an environment of professional risks. Therefore, this research falls within the field of social occupational psychology and organizations with health at workplace as the main interest, a practical and research field which aims at improving health, at preventing and protecting workers in hospitals. In this research, we discuss the risk of accidents due to blood exposure (AES risks), risks to which nurses are daily exposed to during the accomplishment of their tasks. Aware of these professionals ills, in the hospital, the institutions listed in the protection of health care professionals, particularly the study group of risks due to exposure to blood (GERES) and the coordination center against hospital-based infections (CCLIN) have established standard measures and safety equipment to reduce the probability of the occurrence of the risk of accidents due to exposure to blood in the hospital. Our subject comes within the scope of the representation of professional risks, especially the risk of accidents due to exposure to blood (AES risks) among the nurses of the Libreville City Hospital- Gabon (CHL- Gabon). The representation of the risk of accidents related to exposure to blood may or may not incite nurses to respect standard precautions and to use safety equipment
