Abstract:
Abstract In Italy prior to 2006 central venous catheters were inserted only by anaesthesiologists. Nurses were excluded based on professional profile. In 2005 the nursing staff of the Pain Therapy and Palliative Care Unit (PTPCU) at Santa Chiara Hospital in Pisa, proposed that nurses be permitted to insert Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs). The recommendation was submitted to the Italian National Board of Nurses with a request to implement a training program. The Board approved the proposal in January 2006. Initially the PTPCU nursing staff had PICC training programs through the St. Chiara Hospital Vocational Training Office. The program was initially implemented by a nurse volunteer who had critical care training, intravenous therapy experience and who demonstrated competence with PICC placement based on training by PTPCU interventional anaesthesiologists. To date, nearly 250 successful PICC placements have been performed using the Modified Seldinger Technique (MST) in conjunction with ultrasound guidance. Physicians and nurses identified potential candidates and the patients were assessed by the PICC nurse. The combination of PICC/MST was found to facilitate placement in patients with impalpable vessels and above the antecubital fossa as well as improve freedom of movement and reduce the likelihood of patients accidentally dislodging the device. The primary reasons for PICC placement included antibiotic or antiviral therapy (26%), total parenteral nutrition administration (35%) and chemotherapy (39%). There were 211 catheters used exclusively for inpatients and 39 catheters exclusively for outpatients. The PICC program resulted in an excellent safety profile, a high success rate, and few post-procedural complications. It was a less costly option compared to centrally inserted, tunnelled, or implanted central vascular access devices; it improved the quality of nursing care and decreased patients' waiting time for vascular access placement.

Abstract:
From 1940 to 1944, apprenticeship, vocational training and vocational guidance were a bone of contention between the Direction of Technical Training and the General Secretariat for Youth - a new administration created by the Vichy government. The balance of influence being as it is, both vocational guidance and the vocational training of qualified workers seem to fall under the responsibility of the Secretariat. After a period of cooperation ending in a crisis, a partition intervened. The Secretariat received the responsibility of the vocational training and guidance of young people in “Vocational Training Centers”. Meanwhile, the implementation of the Labour Charter called in question the responsibility of the Ministry of Education over technical schools and apprenticeship. A transfer of competencies towards professional corporations was considered, implying overall control by other ministries. In this context, the problem of vocational guidance would necessarily have been reviewed. These ups and downs explain the stand taken by the vocational guidance services after the Liberation, which led to a much closer integration within the ministry of Education.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the situation in agricultural universities career guidance work. 14 universities selected to that end. Based on content analysis of university websites, counting the number of keyword mentions in the media and studying scientific literature, it was revealed that universities spend a lot of effort to attract applicants. The following career guidance events are held: university open days, profile lectures, master classes, quests and competitions. Universities participate in the speciality fairs, organize excursions and exhibitions, conduct courses for applicants, cooperate with the media and are blogging on social networks. Advanced universities create specialized agricultural classes in schools; university professors supervise schoolchildren’s scientific projects. Championships and contests are organized, for example, “Junnat”, “VetSkills”, etc., as well as regional stages of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in profile subjects, thematic educational intensives for schoolchildren. But as a result, the personnel issues of the agriculture enterprises are not solved: many graduates do not work in their speciality. In order to retain specialists in rural areas, it is necessary to develop the social infrastructure in rural areas (schools, hospitals, clubs) and to make efforts to restore the prestige of agriculture as a whole.

Abstract:
In modern conditions, education and training systems in various countries are faced with challenges that determine the demand for reliable information about changes in the labor market and future prospects for those who are faced with choosing their professional path. In Russia, close attention is paid to the professional guidance of the younger generation. A new round of activity to build a system of career guidance work occurred in connection with the Address of the President of the Russian Federation V. Putin to the Federal Assembly on February 21, 2023. During the Soviet period, the career guidance system met the objectives of the state in relation to personality formation and the needs of the economy. Managed at various levels of executive power. The inclusion of interested participants was assumed: students, parents, representatives of production, teachers and school administration. Considerable attention was paid to organizing interaction between participants and creating an appropriate subject-spatial environment and methodological support. Foreign practice of career guidance work is distinguished by the desire to take into account the individual needs of students, recognition of the significant role of specialists competent in the field of vocational guidance and counseling. International research distinguishes the uniqueness of career guidance practice in different countries and the demand for its services at any stage of life. In the Russian general education system, vocational guidance is defined simultaneously as a personal request of the child and his family and a global task for the country. A unified model of vocational guidance has been built, which ensures that students master the minimum vocational guidance. Formats for implementing a unified model, types of activities and materials, forms of career guidance activities allow career guidance work to be carried out at a level that meets the needs and interests of modern schoolchildren. The role of the pedagogical worker as a teacher-navigator who provides pedagogical support to students in the process of vocational guidance is defined. A unified model of professional guidance is implemented in parallel through the digital platform bvbinfo.ru.

Abstract:
Vocational guidance in the Soviet system of education was considered a high priority of institutional socialisation. Industrialisation and technical modernisation dictated and regulated changes in perception of labour training and vocational guidance and encouraged to promote economically required and favourable occupations in the public discourse. However, in reality, the attempt of the educational staff to direct pupils to vocational education facilities did not correspond with the expectations of parents and children regarding their future. Moreover, children’s choices for future occupations were far from accompanying socialist slogans. In order to reveal this complex phenomenon, the article analyses the systematic, theoretical, and practical implementations of vocational guidance in the educational environment of Soviet Lithuania. The research revealed that educational framework for vocational guidance in Soviet Lithuania was receptive to the changes introduced by educational reforms throughout the Soviet nion. It reflected the government’s economic, technical, and agricultural modernization as well as the increasing necessity of specialized manpower and blue–collar workers. The 1970s was the turning point for vocational guidance infrastructure in Lithuania – a huge institutional development took place. Moreover, state administration sectors responsible for economic welfare imposed their considerable influence on the educational system. The modernisation of the educational discourse in Soviet Lithuania in the 1960s–1970s changed the perception of vocational training in the educational system. Labour ducation and vocational guidance became the focus of the Soviet educational discourse and offered a child–oriented vocational guidance framework, which was based on the knowledge of the child, motivational, and interest related education. However, this sophisticated approach was used to manipulate children and to ensure adequate supply of professionals for various key industries, alongside with the implementation of ideological tasks. The actual practices of labour education and professional choices among children were influenced by family values, teachers’ approaches, and different socioeconomic conditions that surrounded children in the rural and urban environment. Due to the agricultural structure and collectivization in rural areas, children there were used to physical work. Therefore, their labour education included helping collective farm workers and their own parents during harvest periods. Meanwhile faster modernisation of urban educational spaces and more advanced technical possibilities determined that labour education of children from urban areas was less intense in terms of physical work. The development of the infrastructure of post-school activities in urban areas allowed children to get acquainted with different professions and activities. These circumstances were crucial when making a decision for future professional choices. Children’s future occupational decisions were also influenced by the concept of “prestige profession” (lawyer, doctor, engineer etc.) that circulated among parents and children during our research period. This concept was exceptionally strong among cultural and political elite families; therefore, their children most frequently went for higher education. Meanwhile childhood in rural areas based on physical work, determined the urge to escape these difficult conditions. nsequently, these pupils were considering non–manual occupations. However, their strong urge to help the family sometimes left them in an ambivalent position and their work choices were made in favour of the family. These contradictory practises led to the emergence of “vocational misguidance” when only unapt, ill-behaved or ideologically upstart pupils were guided to vocational training institutions.

Abstract:
Acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (ARF) is a common cause for hospital admission. High-flow nasal oxygen (HFNO) is increasingly used as a first-line treatment for patients with ARF, including in medical wards. Clinical guidance is crucial when providing HFNO, and health services use local health guidance documents (LHGDs) to achieve this. It is unknown what hospital LHGDs recommend regarding ward administration of HFNO. This study examined Australian hospitals’ LHGDs regarding ward-based HFNO administration to determine content that may affect safe delivery. A scoping review was undertaken on 2 May 2022 and updated on 29 January 2024 to identify public hospitals’ LHGDs regarding delivery of HFNO to adults with ARF in medical wards in two Australian states. Data were extracted and analysed regarding HFNO initiation, monitoring, maintenance and weaning, and management of clinical deterioration. Of the twenty-six included LHGDs, five documents referenced Australian Oxygen Guidelines. Twenty LHGDs did not define a threshold level of hypoxaemia where HFNO use was recommended over conventional oxygen therapy. Thirteen did not provide target oxygen saturation ranges whilst utilising HFNO. Recommendations varied regarding maximal levels of inspired oxygen and flow rates in the medical ward. Eight LHGDs did not specify any system to identify and manage deteriorating patients. Five LHGDs did not provide guidance for weaning patients from HFNO. There was substantial variation in the LHGDs regarding HFNO care for adult patients with ARF in Australian hospitals. These findings have implications for the delivery of high-quality, safe clinical care in hospitals.

Abstract:
The article highlights the experience of the organization of career guidance in Ukrainian and foreign medical institutions of higher education. Today dictates new realities for campaigning for attracting applicants to the medical profession and the choice of further specialization by medical students. Globalization and informatization offer new opportunities for universities to advertise their educational services. Among the main innovative technologies of career guidance, we note the following artificial intelligence algorithms, creation of a new type of informational content involving new information technologies and communications, active maintenance of pages in social networks, media advertising, targeted advertising, direct communication with mentors and administrators. The COVID-19 pandemic has made its adjustments, increasing the share of Internet resources as a format for career guidance both externally (schools, colleges) and internally (university departments and hospitals where they take internships). The article provides a comparative analysis and dynamics of the number of students over the past three years in different universities of Ukraine and different specialties. The aim of the work is to analyze the effectiveness of career guidance, taking into account the involvement of innovative technologies and predicting promising clusters of agitation in the medical university and students' choice of a particular specialty in the health care system. Active maintenance of popular among young people pages of medical specialties (medicine, medical psychology, dentistry) contributes to improved communication at the levels: applicant-university, student-university, master (bachelor) - employer. Information technology makes it possible to promptly deliver to applicants for higher education relevant information on the provisions of the admission campaign, the organization of the educational process and traditions of the university, the peculiarities of further employment. Also, the intelligence demonstrates the difference in approaches to the organization of the agitation cluster in Ukrainian universities and foreign universities.

Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to determine the career paths of women superintendents in the state of Texas and their school board members' perceptions of their levels of success. All women currently serving as superintendents of public schools in Texas, as well as all school board members of districts with women serving as superintendents were surveyed. The findings of this study indicate that the "typical" woman superintendent was hired from inside the district, with a master's degree. She was 48.3 years of age. Her first administrative position was the principalship and she moved directly from the principalship to the superintendency. The typical woman served in one district as superintendent. Her teaching and prior administrative experience was at the elementary level. Women superintendents perceived the position of teacher as the most beneficial experience prior to the superintendency. Women superintendents perceived leadership as the most important area of her professional development. School finance was the area perceived by women superintendents as needing to be more extensive in their professional development. Of the women superintendents who responded to this survey, 68.1 percent reported that they did not perceive discrimination in attaining the superintendency. Of the school board members who responded to this survey, 56.2 percent rated their women superintendents as excellent, 2 6 percent rated women superintendents as good, 12.5 percent rated women superintendents as average, 4.1 percent rated women superintendents as below average and 1 percent rated women superintendents as poor. Most school board members either strongly agreed or agreed with statements that women superintendents are capable in areas of school finance, school law, personnel, public relations, bonds and building programs and leadership. Women school board members rated women superintendents slightly higher, on the average, than male school board members.

Abstract:
The role for the transition team leader (TTL) has not been formalized at the state level in Texas. The purpose of this study was to determine the current perceptions of the public school superintendents in Texas for the roles, responsibilities, and functions of the TTL. The framework of the survey questionnaire was based on eight categories of expertise for the TTL derived from a review of the literature and from professional experience in preparing handicapped individuals for the world of work. The findings are listed as desirable and undesirable characteristics for the role or job description of the TTL. The desirable characteristics for the role of TTL were viewed as: (a) having experience with handicapped populations, (b) having skills to supervise others, (c) being a liaison between agencies, (d) making program adjustments as needed, (e) providing training, (f) knowing how to explain the transition program to staff, (g) being a liaison with parents, (h) being a liaison with community employers, (i) knowing pertinent regulations, (j) knowing the characteristics for each of the handicapping conditions, and (k) knowing the options and barriers to transportation for handicapped individuals in the community. The least desirable characteristics identified with the role of the TTL were: (a) The need for certification of the TTL, (b) making curricular changes at the elementary level, (c) the TTL as the Educational Diagnostician, (d) the TTL as a parent of a handicapped individual participating in the transition program, and (e) the TTL encouraging severely handicapped individuals to remain in the public schools until the maximum age of 21. These categorical data were grouped by ESC area with urban, suburban, and rural demographics. These data were analyzed by a three-way ANOVA design and significant differences were found by category, by ESC area, and by population designation. The public school superintendents have perceived the role of the TTL as a new position, community-based, community-oriented, transferable, and requiring no additional certification procedures.

Hughes, Eleanor Maree. "Entry planning : a key aspect in preparing for school leadership in Western Australia." Thesis, Edith Cowan University, Research Online, Perth, Western Australia, 2014. https://ro.ecu.edu.au/theses/928.

Abstract:
Through my work in various contexts, as a senior leader, a curriculum improvement officer, a deputy principal, a project manager for professional learning and now as principal, I recognised from experience and dabbling in research that there were gaps in professional learning offered to aspirant and beginning secondary school principals in the public system. Undertaking research in this field would either confirm or refute my theory that support for secondary principals through professional learning in the Western Australian Department of Education was limited. The premise that quality leadership enhances quality teaching was a driver in establishing my goal, which is to inform and influence the system to better support secondary principals in public schools in Western Australia. Therefore, this is a unique study of beginning principal preparation in the public secondary education sector in Western Australia. The specific purpose of the study was to investigate the level of preparation undertaken by new and experienced principals for their role and to explore to what extent entry planning could assist in the preparation for principalship. A comprehensive literature review was undertaken and to date the majority of the literature investigates the challenges facing beginning principals and how well prepared they felt they were to meet those challenges. Clarke, Wildy and Styles (2011) argue that:in educational settings where generations of school principals have taken up their appointments without any prior preparation, who have learned to do the job while on the job, and whose professional development has been driven mainly by their own initiative, it is unlikely that incumbents have an understanding of what might have been different for them in their work had they experienced a formal preparation program prior to appointment. (p. 174) The study sought to ask questions of practitioners that would either validate the global research or support the view of Clarke, Wildy and Styles. The findings were consistent between the literature and the case studies. The participating principals articulated the components of effective principal preparation programs and they have a keen desire to see these implemented in support of public education in Western Australia. The study found that professional learning and preparation for secondary principals in the public sector is adhoc, and often developed, or not, at the personal level. There were three main findings: effective principal preparation can reduce the perceived complexity of the role and therefore minimize the expectations experienced by the beginning school principal; formal implementation of informal learning opportunities such as mentoring, coaching and networking can reduce the drift from the profession; and that entry planning has a significant effect in assisting in preparation for the principalship. Principals from a range experience, from 18 months to 20 years, agree that a systemic, coordinated approach would more adequately prepare secondary principals for the complexity of expectations from local, state and national perspectives, and encourage aspirant school leaders to move into the principalship during a time when a predicted shortage in the teaching profession is making the role even more complex.

Chetty, Gillian. "An investigation into the factors influencing career choice and development of previously disadvantaged MBA students in a business school in KwaZulu-Natal." Thesis, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/10413/5099.

Full text
Abstract:
This research paper aimed to investigate the factors influencing career choice and development among previously disadvantaged individuals, specifically focusing on MBA students. The core aim was to analyse and better understand the factors that have played a key role in shaping the careers of people of colour within the South African context, taking into consideration the political, social and economic climate and its impact on previously disadvantaged individuals from a career perspective. The research group comprised of both male and female South Africans of colour, namely Indian or African or Coloured. These participants ranged in terms of age from thirty to forty one years old. Participants were sourced from a business school in Kwa Zulu - Natal and were all in the process of completing their MBA (Master of Business Administration) degrees. Participants were interviewed using semi- structured, in depth interviews that ran for approximately forty five minutes each. Each interview was recorded. This information was then transcribed and analysed using Inductive Thematic Analysis. This approach to data interpretation ensured that the rich wealth of information was analysed effectively by the researcher and more importantly, made sense of. Seven key themes emerged from the data. Themes such as the impact of circumstance, parental and family life, culture and society, and context and the environment emerged and were discussed further. Other key themes emerging from the data included identity and self awareness, interests versus goals, and drive and self belief. Factors Influencing Career Choice 8 Findings indicated that the careers of previously disadvantaged individuals were impacted by unique circumstances experienced by these individuals. The political, social and economic climate had a profound role to play in shaping the paths taken by these individuals and also significantly impacted their development within organisations thereafter. Findings indicated mixed reactions to the pro transformation policies and unveiled thought provoking feedback from participants on their experiences and opinions with regards to the above.

Duiker, Lerato Penelope. "An analysis of the selection criteria and processes into basic nursing diploma programme in the Gauteng Province, South Africa." Diss., 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/10500/21183.

Full text
Abstract:
Background: This study derived from the concerns raised by nurse educators, clinical preceptors, and some nursing students in public nursing colleges in Gauteng following the implementation of the provincial selection criteria and processes. While these criteria could be seen as a means of standardising the admission into the Basic Nursing Diploma Programme at public nursing colleges, anecdotal reports from nurses in education institutions and clinical practices indicated a lack of professionalism, high attrition rates among these cohorts of students. The researcher believed that any meaningful selection criteria and processes should be on the views expressed by people who have been through the process as students or educators. Aim: The aim of this study was to analyse the selection criteria and processes followed by nursing colleges in the Gauteng Province to admit students into Basic Nursing Diploma Programme with the view of proposing selection criteria and processes that would secure the admission of the best candidates to this programme in public nursing colleges in Gauteng Province. Design: Quantitative descriptive survey design with self-completion questionnaire was used to generate data for this study. Out of 571 questionnaires distributed, 492 were returned and considered for analysis. Summary descriptive statistics were performed using SPSS version 21. Abstract:
This chapter proposes that key features of New Public Management (NPM) in complex public service organisations, such as teaching hospitals, are less new than a reversal to Weberian hierarchy, Fordist concern with throughput rather than quality, Taylorist standardised performance criteria, and Foucauldian surveillance. While this judgement is severe, it illustrates that such management models combined with market or quasi-market criteria have been dysfunctional in the UK in near trebling administrative costs, demotivating health professionals, and in the view of their professional associations, risk destroying the principles of a national health service. It proposes that those concerned to counter this could draw on more plural modes of management in public sector institutions such as holding companies as a model for reforms in hospital organisation, which could enable a degree of relative autonomy for individual services and units similar to that typical of small- to medium-sized firms. It distinguishes organisational logic as the basis for economic efficiency from operational logic as the basis for social efficiency in terms of psychological wellbeing of both health professionals and patients. It submits that doctors as managers of staff in different services and units need relative autonomy for effective implementation of Human Resource Management (HRM) practices at operational levels to be able to enhance purposeful engagement and vocational commitment to health as public service as well to enable psychological contracting into change. Informed by a case study within a socio-cognitive approach in a major European teaching hospital, it then draws implications concerning the merits of a holding company model for hospital organisation.

Abstract:
Expanding access to quality education and mentorship are pivotal yet underutilized strategies for empowering women and girls globally. This chapter examines persistent barriers like poverty, cultural norms, and lack of female teachers inhibiting girls' education access. It highlights interventions including cash transfers, infrastructure improvements, and vocational training that have successfully boosted girls' school participation. However, gender disparities in secondary and higher education remain pervasive, limiting women's opportunities and leadership. The chapter also explores how curricula typically reinforce gender stereotypes rather than building agency,, and advocates approaches promoting skills like entrepreneurship. It emphasizes the benefits of mentors providing guidance, networking, and inspiration as women navigate career challenges, such as the shortage of female role models across sectors. Formal programs, virtual mentoring, and cross-national initiatives expand access amid mentor scarcity.

Abstract:
By the end of this chapter you should be able to:… ● Understand the responsibilities and accountability of the student and trained nurse with regards to medicines management ● Understand the reasons for policy to support medicines management ● Interpret the role of the nurse in relation to policies and standards for medicines management ● Understand the role of the nurse in relation to key standards and drivers for the safer administration and management of medicines…. The aims of this chapter are to support you to interpret the responsibility that you already carry as a student and will carry as a registrant when giving medicines to patients and to help you to understand what is meant by accountability and how this relates to your role now and in the future in the management of medicines. Medicines management occurs wherever there is a patient and is carried out in a variety of settings which include:… ● acute hospitals ● community hospitals ● care homes, both residential care homes and nursing homes ● the patient’s own home ● schools ● community clinics…. The National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA, 2004 ) has produced guidance for organizations on supporting patient safety. They suggested the implementation of seven steps as follows:… 1 Build a safety culture. 2 Lead and support your staff. 3 Integrate your risk management activity. 4 Promote reporting. 5 Involve and communicate with patients and the public. 6 Learn and share safety lessons. 7 Implement solutions to prevent harm…. When interpreted in relation to medicines management and nursing care this means that the employing organization has a duty of care to its employees and patients to ensure that medicines are dispensed, supplied, and administered safely and that procedures are in place to support this. Managers need to be made aware of anything that might prevent this, and must ensure that checks are in place to prevent harm from occurring. The clear and prompt reporting of concerns, risk, and errors to management is pivotal to patient safety and medicines management in nursing and, from an organizational point of view, patient consultation and involvement is vital. Lessons must be shared in a ‘low blame culture’ and changes made to support the reduction of risk and potential harm. For more on communication and on risk reduction please see Chapters 1 and 10.

Abstract:
The CONPROF project developed by the automation engineering company IPA SA, the University Politehnica of Bucharest and the Romanian-American University contributes to the sustainable development of the cooperation between higher education institutions and businesses by facilitating the training of students in higher education and the transition from being a student to being employed. It ensures in this way the increased employability of the graduates through counseling, vocational guidance, practical training and integrating three main components: curriculum, the student's initial skills and labor market needs. A central activity in the instruction is the complementarity of the practical training stage performed in the summer holyday after the third year of study by developing and implementing interactive learning methods using a simulated enterprise. The roles open in the application are: Admin, Professor and Student. In the simulated enterprise workflow, the activities start with the Admin creating the accounts for Professors and Students. The Student creates an enterprise and the Professor that is associated to the Student validates it. The Professor uploads the templates for the documents of the company and the Student completes them and uploads the files on the platform. The Professor grades the result. By connecting the simulated company to the simulated enterprise network ROCT (Romanian Coordination of Training Firms), the students come into direct contact with the functioning of public institutions relevant for companies. The role is to interconnect businesses simulated in a national network, giving at the same time services similar to those performed by state institutions such as the Trade Registry, Financial Administration, banks etc...

Abstract:
Introduction COFFE project proposes the transferring and modernizing an on-line tool "Simulation enterprise", dedicated to vocational school students which enables users to run virtual enterprise producing mobile phones and manage it in an environment reflecting real economic conditions. The game is concentrated on developing entrepreneurial skills and encouraging users to run in the future own business. The main aims and objectives are: o increasing knowledge on enterprise functioning and enterprise management, o raising awareness in the field of contemporary economic conditions in Poland and other partner countries, o helping game users to develop entrepreneurship and use this knowledge for learning and developing competences from areas: entrepreneurship, mathematics, ICT and foreign languages, o raising awareness among key stakeholders in the field of key competences which are necessary to possess to get employed. The COFFE PROJECT COFFE project is a partnership of six organizations and institutions, which are: educational institution (University of Economics and Innovation, Poland and GEA College, Slovenia), non-governmental organization (OIC Poland), counseling services and career guidance (CPIP Romania), chambers of commerce (Cambra Tarrasa from Spain) and research centres (RCI, Cyprus). The consortium partners are familiar with issues connected with developing entrepreneurial attitudes as well as experienced in multilateral projects within LLP Programme as all of them participated previously in LLP, either as leading partner or as a partner organization/institution. The project will cause an increase of entrepreneurial attitudes amongst young people (mainly vocational school students) and other interested in development their entrepreneurial skills, increase their knowledge from macro-economy as well as popularize using modern training methods (e-learning and simulation games) which are recently becoming more attractive and effective. Learning by games "Business Simulation" game system is the Internet application simulating realities of the contemporary market within the business realm. Games take place in the virtual world and reflect the basic rules and dependencies existing in the business world. Players play a role of owners of companies producing mobile phones. Their task is to start and develop their companies in the reality of competition with other enterprises of similar profile and run by other players. Competing on this difficult market requires a skillful management of the company's potential and resorting to cooperation with trade partners. The object of the game's simulated market are mobile phones. Each one is characterized by two features: quality level and functionality level. In the game, time runs in a constant manner. Its flow is measured in units called steps. The bigger unit applied is a period, which is a multiple of steps of the game. Notions of periods and steps may be respectively identified with months and days in the real world. In the game there is no equivalent of a year. The world in which the game takes place has its geographical properties. It is all divided into locations, each of which is situated in a given country and has its geographical coordinates. At the start of the game, all the business entities which require their headquarters are automatically located on the map. These are players' companies, clients, suppliers, warehouses and transport companies. It means that each company receives an investment plot on some country's territory and therefore the access to trade partners existing in a particular country. In order to enter into partnership with foreign companies, a player's company will have to establish a branch in a neighboring country. The screen describing a given branch of a player's company, presents a kind of magnification of a singular part of the world map. It also includes a list of organizational units which have their headquarters in this location together with providing their basic parameters. Below, there is also a component showing values of factors describing a given branch, such as being assigned to a given country, its parameters on the world map, a quantity of building plots and its value. An empty, newly bought investment plot includes several free building plots. A player decides on ways of its exploitation. Particular building plots in this location will be taken over by buildings belonging to organizational units. With the moment of its purchase, one of building plots is automatically taken over by an administration building which represents a workplace on managerial staff and administration. Furthermore, a company branch screen has an option of changing its name. Results The paper presents the study case of the implementation of the COFFE project in Romania. We present aspects about: o the developing of the on-line simulation game, designed for specific purpose and target group o the impact of this tool which will reflect economical conditions to the students o the use of modern technologies to make the training process as attractive as possible o the promotion of the entrepreneurship, innovativeness and self-employment
