This article reports the results of a case study on the introduction of the living wage. Three employers in the City of York became living wage employers. Using data derived from a sample survey of their employees and qualitative interviews, this article explores what impact the receipt of the living wage had on poverty and deprivation. It found that not all living wage employees were income poor or deprived, although those on living wage rates were more likely to be poor and deprived than those on even higher wages. The more important determinant of the employees’ living standards was the household they lived in, and there were a high proportion of living wage employees living in multi-unit households. Also important were the number of earners in the household and the hours worked by the living wage employee. Lone parent families and single people appeared to be most vulnerable to poverty and deprivation. In addition, whether the employee took up their entitlement to in-work benefits was critical and, using benefit checks by welfare rights experts, it was found that some were not.

AbstractObjective:To determine the prevalence of stool colonization with vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) among healthcare workers (HCWs) and their families.Design:Prospective assessment of fecal colonization with VRE.Setting:A 603-bed, tertiary-care teaching hospital.Participants:Healthy volunteers recruited from hospital employees and their households were screened to exclude pregnancy, diabetes mellitus, immunosuppressive disorders, and recent use of antimicrobials.Intervention:Self-obtained stool swabs were used to obtain cultures. Isolated enterococci were screened for vancomycin resistance and species were identified. Intra-household isolates were genotyped using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE).Results:The participants (n = 228; age range, 28 days to 80 years) were from 137 households with and 91 without employees who had contact with patients.Enterococcusspecies were isolated from 127 stool specimens (55.7%). VRE were detected in 12 individuals, representing 6E. casseliflavus, 5E. faecium, and 1E. gallinarum. VRE were more commonly isolated in employees who had contact with patients (5 of 52 vs 0 of 40; relative risk [RR], 1.9; 95% confidence interval [CI95], 1.5 to 2.2;P= .07) and their household members (10 of 137 vs 2 of 91; RR, 3.3; CI95, 0.7 to 14.8;P= .13). In 2 households (2 adults in a physician's household and an adult plus a child in a nurse's household) PFGE analysis demonstrated identical intra-household strains of vancomycin-resistantE. faecium.Conclusions:VRE colonization was found in 5.3% of screened stools and was more prevalent in HCWs who had contact with patients and their households. Identical PFGE patterns between 2 employees who had contact with patients and their household members demonstrated probable intra-household spread. Although the mode of acquisition was uncertain, the association with employees who had contact with patients suggests possible occupational sources. These findings demonstrate the spread of VRE within the household and implicate occupational risk for its acquisition.

The purpose of the analysis is an attempt to assess the income disparity of farmers compared to other socio-professional groups in light of the latest available data and an assessment on how administrative division impacts income disparity size. The analysis was performed using data gathered by the Household Budget Survey from 2017, availing for that purpose the statistics of disposable income per household and converting it to a per capita figure. Among socio-professional groups, the following households were distinguished: farmers, entrepreneurs, employees, pensioners and other earners earning income from other sources. The results of the analysis have given evidence of existing income disparity of farmer households with respect to other households. By comparing households of farmers and entrepreneurs, the greatest disparities can be observed in average disposable income to the detriment of farmers and employee incomes are located between these types of households. The highest income levels of farmers in comparison with entrepreneurs, employees or households in general, for that matter, are recorded in the Podlaskie, Lubelskie and Lubuskie voivodships. This observation suggests the significant development of the agricultural sector or slow overall economic development, which generates low revenue for individuals making their living as employees or entrepreneurs. Higher disposable income level households of entrepreneurs and employees tend to be characteristic of territories with significant urban areas, i.e. the Mazowieckie voivodship or Małopolska region. In these areas, income levels earned from work or entrepreneurship are substantially higher than those acquired from farming.

Higher unemployment increases the cost of job loss and heightens employees’ feelings of job insecurity. The paper argues that these two effects could have a positive influence on employee organizational commitment. Using data from the Household, Income and Labor Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) microdata database, we find that employees in high unemployment regions are more committed to their organization, while the effect of unemployment on employee’s commitment is stronger in the private sector.

This study aims to determine whether there is a partial influence of work environment and motivation on the performance of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa Yogyakarta Household Employees. To find out the influence of work environment and work motivation simultaneously on the performance of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa Yogyakarta Household Employees.
The nature of this research is correlational. The variables of this study are the work environment and work motivation and employee performance. The population in this study were all Household Employees at the University of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa Yogyakarta with a population of 37, a population of less than 100, so that all populations were sampled by the census method. The data collection method uses a questionnaire. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression with a significance level of 5%.
The results obtained by the work environment has a positive and significant effect on the performance of employees of the Household Section of the Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa Yogyakarta University. Work motivation has a positive and significant effect on the performance of employees of the Household Section of the Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University in Yogyakarta. Employee performance is influenced by the work environment and work motivation by 29.3%, while the remaining 70.7% is influenced by other factors.

This paper studies employer incentives in designing health insurance provider networks and whether observed offerings reflect preferences that are aligned with employees. I estimate a model of supply and demand where I endogenize employer health plan offerings with respect to hospital and physician networks. I find that employers “overprovide” broad networks by overweighting the preferences of certain employees, specifically older workers and those in regions with less provider competition, over the preferences of the average employee household. Shifting employers toward offering different provider networks in different geographic markets could yield substantial gains to surplus, with minimal distributional or selection effects. This study investigates the impact of remote workplace factors on employees’ social and technical self-assessed performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of the variables belonging to the employee’s profile, organizational environment, and work-life balance categories on social and technical performance were analyzed, based on a survey of 801 Romanian employees, using ordinary least squares and quantile regression techniques. While the first method provided summary point estimates that calculated the average effect of the explanatory variables for the “average employee”, the second approach allowed us to focus on the effects explanatory variables have on the entire conditional distribution of the response variables, taking into account that this effect can be different for employees with different levels of performance. Job autonomy, engagement, communication skills, trust in co-workers, occupational self-efficacy, and family-work conflict, significantly influence both social and technical performance. PhD education and trust in management significantly influence social performance, while motivation, stress, the share of time spent in remote work, organizational commitment, children in the household, and household size, influence only technical performance.

AbstractThe contribution aims to identify the influence of income on Slovak household expenditures. Analyses are querying from the household income and expenditures data in the Slovak Republic during the period 2004–2018. The data source is the Statistical Office of The Slovak Republic. Descriptive statistics and regression analysis are used. The analysis of the goods and services expenditures reveals the major share of the expenditures is expended for the non-durable goods. The non-durable goods expenditures of the pensioners are 72% of their total consumption expenditures. Expenditures of employees, self-employees and other households for the non-durable goods present more than a half of their total expenditures. The share of services expenditures is also considerable. It is varying above 30% for all households kinds. The income influence on the household expenditures is analyzed using Engel’s expenditures functions which are used as the basis for the income elasticities of household expenditures. The analysis results are pointing to the fact that the less elastic on the income change is the reaction of the Slovak household expenditures on non-durable goods. A significant reaction on the income change is observed in household durable goods expenditures.

This study was conducted to examine the effect of work from home policy caused by coronavirus epidemic on household financial management of insurance industry employees in Surabaya. This study uses a qualitative method by conducting interviews. The variables used are household consumption, household savings, household investment, household insurance, and retirement planning. The sample selection using purposive sampling method, obtained seven sources who then provide answers to questions during in-depth interviews. The results showed that the work from home policy had a very significant effect on the condition of household financial management in the variables of household consumption, household savings, and household investment. On the other hand, work from home policy does not really affect household insurance management and retirement planning for employees of the insurance industry in Surabaya.

WY actually has the handout, however, it is not complete yet, so they did not use it. Therefore, the solution is a handbook to describe employee benefits for the new employees. This project is done after reviewing theories by Bloomfield, Schofield, and Cantesbury (2015) and Martocchio (2016) and information from the company. This study aims to determine the effect of job characteristics, individual work styles, and household characteristics on job satisfaction and work productivity. In addition, this research aims to determine the indirect effect of job characteristics, individual work styles, and household characteristics on work productivity through job satisfaction as an intervening variable. The research was conducted at PT. INKA Multi Solutions Madiun. The method in this study was a quantitative method. The population and research sample were employees of PT. INKA Multi Solusi (IMS) Madiun which carried out work from home totals 104 employees. Sampling using the saturated sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire via google form. The data analysis technique used Path Analysis with the IBM SPSS 25 program. The results show that job characteristics and work style have a positive and significant effect towards job satisfaction and productivity of PT. IMS Madiun while working from home. Meanwhile, household characteristics have no significant positive effect on job satisfaction and do not affect the work productivity of PT. IMS Madiun while working from home. Next, job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on the work productivity of PT. IMS Madiun while working from home. Purpose: To understand differences in health risk assessment (HRA) and biometric screening participation rates among benefits-enrolled employees in association with wage category. Design: Cross-sectional analysis of employee eligibility file and health benefits (wellness and claims) data. Setting: Data from self-insured employers participating in the RightOpt private exchange (Conduent HR Services) during 2014. Participants: Active employees from 4 companies continuously enrolled in health insurance for which wage data were available. Measures: Measures included HRA and biometric screening participation rates and wage status, with employee age, sex, employer, job tenure, household income, geographic location, and health benefits deductible as a percentage of total wages serving as covariates. Analysis: Employees were separated into 5 groups based on wage status. Logistic regression analysis incorporated other measures as covariates to adjust for differences between groups, with HRA and biometric screening participation rates determined as binary outcomes. Results: Participation rates for HRA and biometric screening were 90% and 87%, respectively, in the highest wage category, decreasing to 67% and 60%, respectively, among the lowest wage category. Conclusion: Employee wage status is associated with significant differences in HRA and biometric participation rates. Generalizing the results generated by modest participation in these offerings to entire populations may risk misinterpretation of results based on variable participation rates across wage categories.

The substitution of travel by telecommunications has long been advocated as an approach that might alleviate congestion on transportation facilities during peak periods. Among the various applications of telecommunications, telecommuting is considered a promising substitute for work trips, the major determinants of traffic congestion and air pollution during peak hours. Although positive effects from telecommuting have been demonstrated through small-scale pilot projects in the United States, systematic research is still limited, especially on the adoption of telecommuting, which ultimately determines the magnitude of its impact. A framework of the telecommuting adoption process is proposed, and a mathematical model of the employee’s telecommuting adoption process on the basis of a dynamic generalized ordinal probit model is developed. The framework identifies two principal factors in the decision process, employees and employers. Stated preferences for various telecommuting programs are elicited from employees and used to estimate the adoption model. To address correlations among responses from the same individual, a general error structure is also specified in the model. Estimation results confirm that employee adoption is affected by his or her personal, household, and job characteristics; commuting trip attributes; attitudes toward telecommuting; and the program design, defined on the basis of who assumes the additional costs of telecommuting and the corresponding salary changes for the telecommuter.

Economic research shows that a complex entity such as a household, may be sometimes reduced to individual transactional decisions. The same is true in this paper, since the learning capacity of a household is understood as the sum of the capacities of household members. It turns out that household members function just like members of an organization (employees of a company/organisation). The question arises: what characteristics of households and their members (taking into account the functions they perform) are conducive to the household learning process and the development of household ability to use the potential of their members to perform in the market better than others, i.e. to respond more effectively to the turbulences occurring in the market. The hypotheses proposed in the study are related to the authors’ belief that: firstly, households can be treated as organizations; secondly, households have the ability to learn; thirdly, households can use their learning ability in order to adapt to changes occurring in the turbulent external environment. The objective was to: determine the characteristics of households which, when an interdisciplinary approach is applied, can be treated as organizations; define the features, which enable households to learn; define the requirements that have to be met to enable the households to apply their acquired knowledge and experience to make decisions leading to the planned changes in their behaviour;verify empirically the key determinants of the household learning process.The range of problems addressed by the paper belongs to the field of interdisciplinary studies dedicated to changes in households’ market behaviour resulting from the pressures exerted by the turbulent environment. The paper employed methods of critical literature analysis regarding the following: organization and management, operations in the market, as well as the system and benchmarking analyses. Additionally, the authors applied a questionnaire survey to provide data for the statistical analysis of co-dependencies of qualitative characteristics.

The various processes of financialisation widen inequalities by increasing incomes for financial sector employees and shareholders, as well as affluent households who hold the concentrated ownership of financial assets. Although interest payments provide a flow of revenue from indebted households to financial institutions, the distributional consequences of such debt-based systems of financialisation remain an under-explored research area. As the financialisation of the British economy has been driven by the widespread adoption of private debt, this econometric analysis examined the effects of changes in household debt on income inequality in Britain between 1966 and 2016. These results demonstrate household debt increases the share of income captured at the top of the income distribution, while increasing inequality between the top and the middle of the income scale. Therefore, the mundane decision to take on household debt has significant distributional consequences, specifically entrenching pre-existing disparate social relations between affluent and less-affluent households in Britain.

In the Republic of Moldova, the total electricity consumption in 2020 decreased compared to 2019 by 0.22 %, while household consumption increased by 3.5%. In the first quarter of 2021, household consumption increased by 7.8%, raising the share of household consumption to 45.5 %. Working from home has proven to be convenient for both employees and employers, so the trend is expected to remain after the pandemic crisis. In this context, a series of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions in residential buildings are expected to be implemented.

The study determines the level of household income utilization and decision-making among educated working married employees in the Mbarara Municipality, Mbarara, Uganda. The study was guided by Sen’s Cooperative Conflict Theory. The study employed a mixed design of quantitative and qualitative approach. It targeted working educated married employees from MMC with a study sample of 113 respondents consisting of 92 married, educated working employees. Purposive sampling was used to select key informants (21) like the LCs 1,(6) 2(6) and 3(6) mayor,(1) probation officer(1) and legal officers (1) that is in the 6 division in the municipality was interviewed. Qualitative data were analyzed using themes and quantitative data using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software.
The study findings established that age, marital status, religion, educational qualification, years of marriage, monthly income influence the level of income utilization and decision-making among working educated married employees. In addition, patriarchal ideologies, community perceptions of decision making, gender roles, and religion also impacted their income utilization. The findings of this study also show that the level of household income utilization among the educated working married employees in Mbarara Municipality also varies based on the amounts earned by married employees and the difference between the husband and wife’s salaries.
The study concluded that household income utilization in general significantly influences the decision making process and affect the level of income utilization among educated working married employees. This is because the household is a huge contributor to the decision making process in the majority of employees’ homes in Mbarara Municipality. Based on the findings, the study recommends that the government should intensify effort by providing jobs for men and women to meet the financial obligation in their household.

In this study, the researcher used a qualitative approach with the selection of informants deliberately on the types and sources of data needed. The data collection technique uses (a) direct observation (b) interviews (c) documentation, then the analysis is carried out interactively, while the technical process of data analysis in this study is analysis using an interactive model through 3 (three) components of the analysis, namely data reduction, presentation of data, drawing conclusions.
The results showed that work experience as knowledge and skills of a person in his job which can be measured from the work period. Personality can be assumed about the quality of human behavior in adapting to and interacting with their environment. The attitude that a person has is a link or a unity in determining his attitude and behavior
Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that with the motivation given by the head of the General Bureau of Household to employees so that employee performance can be increased and if less motivation given by the leadership is greatly affected by performance.

Purpose The purpose of 2017 ALEX® Benefits Communication Survey is to explore what employees think of the ways their companies talk to them about their benefits. Specifically, the survey focuses on whether employees understand the benefits communication material that is put in front of them, and it tries to provide insights on how employers can help employees improve their ability to make informed decisions about their healthcare options. Design/methodology/approach The survey was conducted online from February 24 to March 17, 2017, by Harris Poll on behalf of Jellyvision. It included 2,043 US adults (ages 18+) who were employed full-time, eligible for company-provided benefits and did not currently have health insurance through Medicare, Medicaid or the VA. Data were weighted where necessary by age, gender, race/ethnicity, region, education, income, marital status, household size and propensity to be online for aligning them with their actual proportions in the population. Results of this research were compared with Jellyvision’s April 2016 survey of 2,105 employed adults. Findings Of the employees whose companies offer health insurance benefits, approximately half (49 per cent) say making health insurance decisions is “always very stressful” for them, and 55 per cent say that they would like help from their employer when choosing a plan. One in five employees (21 per cent) say they often regret the benefit choices they make during open enrollment. Further, while 89 per cent say they generally understand their options, only 59 per cent can actually identify the different elements involved in the full cost of their health care. In terms of communication preferences, 65 per cent of employees prefer to look over benefit enrollment instructions outside of working hours. Originality/value Jellyvision commissioned this study to provide employers with valuable insights about how employees process and respond to benefit communications. The data can help employers understand the sources of enrollment-related stress and critical gaps in health insurance and benefits knowledge, which can lead to poor decision-making and regret among employees. The survey also reveals employee communication preferences, which employers can use to optimize their content, drive engagement, and empower employees to make more informed benefit enrollment decisions.

Purpose – The aim of the study is to assess the stability of agricultural household income in Poland in 1995–2021 and to identify the determinants of the volatility of this income. Research method – The stability of farmer’s household income was compared with the income volatility of other socio-economic groups. Regression analysis was used to reveal the determinants of income volatility. Results – The income of farm households shows much greater year-on-year volatility than the income of households of employees and self-employed outside agriculture. Originality / value / implications / recommendations – The volatility of farm income is mainly influenced by the factors that determine the value of agricultural production and the costs of this production. Subsidies directed to farmers only mitigate the volatility of farm income.

This study aims to analyze the effect of training, competence, leadership perception, compensation, experience, and motivation on performance both directly and through work motivation as a mediator variable. The results of this study indicate that training has a significant effect on performance, followed by compensation and leadership perceptions. Activities that are relevant to improving employee performance are further intensifying education and training programs, increasing compensation, and strengthening leadership management at UM.

This article deals with existing models of household behavior, based on the assumption of the possibility of employees to determine their own level of consumption and employment, depending on a given wage rate and accumulated assets. An alternative view is offered that the wage rate accepted by employees can be expressed through financial assets and employment. Based on this assumption, the model "financial assets – labor price" was developed, determining the impact of the volume of financial assets of households and the level of employment on the wage rate, the minimum acceptable for workers.
The model was tested in twelve European countries. The calculations confirmed the basic hypothesis of the study, namely the dependence of the level of wages on the volume of available assets and employment.

The article presents the results of the research on the organisation of remote workstations in the education sector conducted in scope of an international remote work project. Unlike the dominant research topic in the literature (well-being, WLB), our research focuses on a newer endeavor: analysis from a workplace design perspective. Statistical methods such as structure indices and correlations were used in the research. The results presented concern the organizational level of the surveyed positions and the impact of external factors on employee preferences in scope of being sent away, including position financing, position time, and organizational efficiency. The study showed a specific profile of remote work of education employees. The results also indicate employees' expectations regarding the financing of physical space and household equipment by employers, as well as the legal regulations of the right to disconnect (R2D). These are the preconditions for the strategic, permanent use of remote work as a tool for organization and management because when working remotely, new forms of the educational function must be developed

The objective of this study was to identify the level of financial literacy among South African households and statistically ascertain the impact of financial literacy variables on household savings behaviour. Quantitative research was conducted to achieve these objectives, where data was collected from the employees of City of Tshwane and Mahikeng Municipality. A cluster analysis was employed to identify the group cluster of respondents. In addition, a Path Coefficient analysis was conducted to identify the significance of financial literacy on household savings behaviour. The study's findings revealed that the respondents have a reasonable level of financial literacy, which is in line with the conceptual findings of previous literatures. Secondly, it was ascertained that variables under financial control, financial planning, financial knowledge, and understanding positively impact household savings behaviour. Meaning that the more they are familiar with these variables, the more they are likely to save. On the contrary, the variables under the construct of knowledge of financial products and services were identified to impact household savings behaviour negatively, meaning that the more they are knowledgeable on financial products and services, the lesser they are likely to save. Hence, it was concluded that stakeholders and policymakers in charge of financial and savings literacy in South Africa should incorporate these identified positive variables of financial literacy into their savings campaign programmes.

Formation of a new model of agrarian system was the result of mass collectivization in the USSR. Collective farms were its organizational and production basis. The second largest sector of agriculture in terms of production potential consisted of personal household plots. They were main producers of potatoes, vegetables and milk, and a significant part of meat products. Soviet and Russian historiography has paid main attention to the study of the personal plots of collective farmers, overlooking the dynamics of personal plots of workers and employees. The author of the article reconstructs factors and trends of development of personal household plots of workers and employees in Siberia in the 1930s. It was found that in the early 1930s the size of personal plots of this category of population was minimal. State farm workers were prohibited from personal farming, and personal household plots of other categories of workers and employees were taxed at the rates of individual farmers. After the 1932–1933 mass famine, several restrictions on the development of personal household plots were canceled. Level of its taxation was decreased. Liberalization of state policy and an increasing part of workers and employees in population of the region led to a rapid growth in production potential of their personal plots. Development rate of workers and employees’ personal plots was higher than that of collective farmers. In the late 1930s a campaign took place to limit the size of personal household plots. Taxation was increased. This led to decline in the personal sector of agricultural economy.

In Bangladesh, women are engaging in shrimp sector to support themselves and their family as well. Current study was designed to study the socio-economic and hygienic status of the women working in shrimp sector (employee) in South Western region in Bangladesh (N=150). The study also selected women who are not working in shrimp sector (non-employee) in the same community (N=75) to evaluate impacts of shrimp industry on women. In socio-economic background analysis of the women, medium household size (46% and 65.3%), primary education level (63.3% and 48%), married (79.3% and 97.3%), drinking tube-well water (93.3 % and 92%) and polli electric facility (77.3% and 84%) was dominant in both cases. Average monthly household income and expenditure was found better among the employees (9235 ± 4042 Tk and 765 5± 3032 Tk, respectively) than the non-employees (9068 ± 3113 Tk and 7208 ± 2147 Tk, respectively). In summary, the study observed and suggesting that life style and hygienic condition is better among the women engaged in shrimp sector than the nonemployee in the same community.

This paper explores the increasing significance of domestic workers in Spain, a country that has the highest figures of registered household employees in the EU, many of them female migrant workers. The paper focuses on how the domestic sector has grown in recent years along with mass migration flows. The growth of the household sector in Spain is situated within the context of the welfare and migration regimes. The household sector in Spain is currently absorbing a large part of the demand for childcare and elderly care provision. Although the domestic sector in Spain is more regulated than in many other countries, greater efforts to formalise and improve the labour and employment rights of household employees are needed to counterbalance occupational segregation and social inequality.

ObjectivesTo determine the incidence and intensity of household impoverishment induced by cancer treatment in China.DesignAverage income and daily consumption per capita of the households and out-of-pocket payments for cancer care were estimated. Household impoverishment was determined by comparing per capita daily consumption against the Chinese poverty line (CPL, US$1.2) and the World Bank poverty line (WBPL, US$1.9) for 2015. Both pre-treatment and post-treatment consumptions were calculated assuming that the households would divert daily consumption money to pay for cancer treatment.ParticipantsCancer patients diagnosed initially from 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2016 who had received cancer treatment subsequently. Those with multiple cancer diagnoses were excluded.Data sourcesA household questionnaire survey was conducted on 2534 cancer patients selected from nine hospitals in seven provinces through two-stage cluster/convenience sampling.Findings5.89% (CPL) to 12.94% (WBPL) households were impoverished after paying for cancer treatment. The adjusted OR (AOR) of post-treatment impoverishment was higher for older patients (AOR=2.666–4.187 for ≥50 years vs <50 years, p<0.001), those resided in central region (AOR=2.619 vs eastern, p<0.01) and those with lower income (AOR=0.024–0.187 in higher income households vs the lowest 20%, p<0.001). The patients without coverage from social health insurance had higher OR (AOR=1.880, p=0.040) of experiencing post-treatment household impoverishment than those enrolled with the insurance for urban employees. Cancer treatment is associated with an increase of 5.79% (CPL) and 12.45% (WBPL) in incidence of household impoverishment. The median annual consumption gap per capita underneath the poverty line accumulated by the impoverished households reached US$128 (CPL) or US$212 (WBPL). US$31 170 395 (CPL) or US$115 238 459 (WBPL) were needed to avoid household impoverishment induced by cancer treatment in China.ConclusionsThe financial burden of cancer treatment imposes a significant risk of household impoverishment despite wide coverage of social health insurance in China.

Starting from the consideration that excessive income inequalities could hamper sustainable growth, our paper aims to evaluate the impact of the minimum wage policy upon wage and income distributions. Using the European Union Survey on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) database with national representative sample of households, an income distribution analysis was conducted for the case of Romania based on two microsimulation approaches. The first one assumed building a counterfactual income distribution under the hypothesis of no change in minimum wage, while the second one implied a decomposition of the Gini coefficient of income inequalities based on main income determinants, including the minimum wage level and the share of minimum wage earners in the total number of employees. Both approaches pointed to similar findings, indicating a positive effect of the minimum wage on wage inequalities reduction for both genders, although higher for women, as they are more present among lower paid employees. The minimum wage policy can reshape the wage distribution, by enlarging the share of minimum income earners and narrowing the middle. Moreover, the household disposable income becomes less unequal when minimum wage increases, meaning that the income gain spreads over the entire household as most minimum wage earners come from poor households with numerous children.

The main purpose of the article was to assess Poland’s income situation in agriculture after the country acceded to the European Union. The analysis included, among others, changes in agricultural income per full-time employee and a comparison of household income of farmers and other professional groups. The sources of the materials were data from the Eurostat and CSO databases. The research period covered the years 2005–2018. The real income of the agricultural population in the analyzed period showed an upward trend but was still lower not only than the national average, but also the income of households of employees. Financial resources transferred from direct payments and structural funds under the Common Agricultural Policy had a significant impact on the improvement of the income situation of farmers.

Abstract The exploitation of work and household responsibilities among women and men remains a pressing issue with significant impacts on employee productivity and satisfaction. This study sheds light on the patterns of exploitation and their consequences, with a specific focus on the experiences of HR professionals. The research emphasizes the prevalence of the “flexibility stigma” in society, which views flexible work arrangements, including teleworking, as less committed, motivated, and productive compared to traditional 9-5 work hours. The study also highlights the tendency for workers to extend their work hours when boundaries between work and personal life become blurred. In particular, the study highlights the increased likelihood of working overtime as a result of teleworking, which can further contribute to the exploitation of work and household responsibilities. For HR professionals, it is essential to understand these challenges and develop strategies that support employees’ work-life balance and well-being. The study concludes by calling for a comprehensive approach that considers the institutional and cultural contexts in which employees operate and that prioritizes their well-being and productivity.

The study tackles the issue of distribution inequality in equalized per capita income in households defined by multiple grouping criteria in the Czech Republic before, during and after the economic and financial crisis. The factors were economic status of the household head, number of children, education and the NUTS 3 administrative regions. Interval grouped per capita income data assembled within the EU-SILC framework via quota sampling were received from czso.cz for 2008, 2012 and 2016. Indicators of income level, variation, quantiles, medial and Gini index were calculated for the respective household groups. Income concentration in the Czech Republic is considerably low among OECD states and still decreasing due to government social and economic policy and favourable phase of the economic cycle. The largest income inequality was detected in the self-employed, jobless and qualified employees, households with 3 or more children, single-parent families with dependants, households with one or both tertiary educated parents or households residing in Prague or Středočeský region. The threat of poverty is imminent in the jobless, economically inactive pensioners, unqualified labourers and households with 3 or more children. Geographically, the poverty affects households mostly in Moravskoslezský or Ústecký regions. Government measures evidently helped reduce income inequality, poverty and social exclusion in Ústecký region in 2008. The least affected regions by poverty were Prague and Středočeský region. Significant differences in income level or concentration of income distributions by regional and other household grouping criteria were revealed.

The purpose of this paper is to present some results of an investigation of the efficiency of recovery of recyclables from household wastes in Dau Tieng town, Dau Tieng district, Binh Duong. Main methods used in the study are solid waste analysis, sociological investigation and estimation. Interviewed participants include households, scrap purchasing enterprises, scrap buyers (individuals) and solid waste collection employees. The result shows the efficiency of recovery of recyclables from household wastes in Dau Tieng town is quite high with 77.99 %. The major component of the recyclables consists of plastic, glass, paper, aluminum, iron and steel. The amount of recyclable materials lost in the recovery process in studying area is 258.52 kg/day, equivalent to 1,310,696 VND each day.

Abstract The paper analyses the labour force composition of two adjacent counties in north-west Romania: Maramureș and Sălaj. Regionally, employers stress the lack of available labour force and resort to commuter networks from nearby rural areas and immigrant labour. Why labour shortage? It is argued that Romania’s FDI-reliant export-led growth model factors in. Namely, the growth model’s reliance on low-cost labour that reduces employment incentives to a minimum (often minimum wage) and employment in repetitive labour-intensive activities make the prospect less attractive. If technological upgrading – requiring skilled employees – is absent, regional labour availability tends to be an issue. Alternative subsistence methods are favoured: seasonal transnational migration, household agricultural subsistence and remittances from relatives. Tying livelihood to families and households, these methods pool resources to replace (even if in part) wage labour under global market-dependency conditions.

The problems of legal regulation of remote work from the point of view of safety and labor protection are considered. During the pandemic, the number of remote employees increased by eight times, and the labor protection of this category of the employees remained at the same level. The Labor Code of the Russian Federation significantly reduces the rights and obligations of both the employer and the remote employee, therefore, the risk of an incident increases. It is difficult to establish a connection specifically between the incident with production activities, and not with the household chores. It is noted that the employers are reluctant to investigate incidents with remote employees. However, an investigation is required since administrative responsibility is provided for concealing an incident. Investigation will help not only to get the employee due compensation but also to prevent future incidents. Several traumatic factors are highlighted related to the home office: sharp corners of the furniture, broken glass, toilets and bathrooms, wet floor, armchair, chair, ceiling cabinets (head injuries), carpets and cables (stumbling), equipment and cables (short circuit), fire, stairs. Presumably, the most frequent occupational diseases associated with the remote work (longer stay behind the computer screen) were identified: dry eye and carpal tunnel syndromes, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal diseases, etc. Recommendations for the prevention of occupational diseases and injuries were proposed: briefings on labor protection, risk assessment at the workplaces, preliminary and periodic medical examinations, an ergonomic working environment, compliance with the work and rest regimes, preservation and (or) documentation of the incident site before the arrival of the commission, etc.

The article substantiates the thesis that in personnel management it is necessary to distinguish between the object state and the object state indicators. The study of employee behavior from the standpoint of a system-transdisciplinary approach allowed us to conclude that any employee strives for stability and self-preservation. The condition for maintaining the stability and development of the employee is to achieve the indicators that the manager gives him. However, this doesn’t always change the object state. The main problem of personnel management is the development of a set of indicators, in which, working on indicators, employees would change the state of the organization in the right direction. The interpretation of economic relations as a system allows us to designate their basic element as a household. Then the objective function of economic relations is to meet the needs of all households. It is shown that the existing system of monetary indicators at the state level cannot provide an increase in the well-being of all households. The necessity of developing evaluation indicators of the activities of decision-makers and managers based on the designated system goal of the development of the national economy is justified. The problems of developing indicators and ways to solve them are also outlined.

In this study, we explore the economic well-being of farm and nonfarm households in Germany. We applied an indicator that combines households' disposable income and net wealth consisting of financial assets and real estate to data from the Income and Consumption Survey (EVS) 2018. We found that the income available to farm households can support a standard of living equal to that of nonfarm (employed) households. Wealth affects households' economic well-being in both directions: farm households and workers/employees would be better off if their household income would assess their economic status. The opposite trend occurs for unem-ployed and pensioners/retirees. However, the analysis of farmers' well-being requires income data of multiple years regarding the income volatility of self-employment in agriculture. Consid-ering wealth to assess farm households' economic well-being means paying attention to their farm assets because they are highly intertwined with the household. The EVS misses farm char-acteristics and a reliable number of farmers' observations to assess their economic well-being over time to derive agricultural policy implications. Hence, there is currently a lack of statistical data and evidence to achieve the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 's second objective to pro-vide income support in a targeted manner.

The research aims to analyze the role of the home industry Catering Kurnia Jaya on employee income and welfare from the perspective of Islamic economics. The research method used is qualitative, involving a population of 10 employees. The subject of the study is the owner of Catering Kurnia Jaya, located in Medang Kampai District, Dumai City. The analysis used in this study includes reduction analysis and triangulation analysis. Data collection techniques include observation and interviews. The results show that Catering Kurnia Jaya significantly contributes to increasing the income and economic well-being of employees' families. This business operates according to Islamic economic principles, emphasizing justice, sustainability, and fair redistribution. Employee income fluctuations occur due to seasonal factors and market competition. This study highlights the importance of household industries in alleviating poverty and enhancing the local economy, with Catering Kurnia Jaya serving as an example of significant contribution to employee income and welfare.

Abstract The article presents the results of the fifth bi-seasonal survey conducted in 2004- 2005 within the framework of the longitudinal study of the time use, everyday activity and living conditions of the rural population. The study is conducted on a sample group of villages representative of the south of Siberia in rather different historical periods. The emphasis is made on changes that have taken place in the rural everyday life and on the use of time during the last two decades; in particular, in the beginning of the new century. It presents the results of the analysis of the time budgets of working women and working men and their answers to questions concerning the facts of reality, their assessments and values. In the early 2000s the working time of men increased, while their time spent on private plot production and housework decreased. Similar situation was observed in the case of women; however, the time spent on household production increased. More pronounced changes were observed among agricultural workers, especially men (increasing working time and decreasing time of housework, sleep and leisure). On the whole, there was a noticeable redistribution of time between work in the house and household production and work in the agricultural enterprise being the source of the material well-being of the rural family. The male-female difference in the total work load and leisure time has decreased.
