Abstract:
This thesis considers whether it may be possible to provide more cost-effective social housing dwellings that generate the same level of wellbeing for tenants. The concept of wellbeing is explored as a way of measuring social housing outcomes. This is done by examining the relationship between social housing, beyond a basic, adequate standard, and the objective wellbeing of tenants. An SF-12 survey is used to measure wellbeing. This is compared to dwelling suitability and satisfaction. The survey found no relationship between tenants’ wellbeing scores, their satisfaction with their dwellings,
