Abstract:
How does using video technology influence the emotional experience of communication in psychological counselling? In this paper, the experience of emotion—as an essential factor in the communication between counsellor and client—is systematically compared for face-to-face and video formats. It is suggested that the research methodology for studying computer-mediated forms of communication links lab and (virtual) reality in an ideal way. Based on a sample of 27 cases, significant differences and their observed effect sizes are presented. The aim of this study is to investigate the emotional experience in direct and mediated interaction and thus to contribute to the systematic search for evidence as to whether and how the emotional experience in psychological counselling interviews changes during video-mediated transmission. The results suggest, among others, that negative emotions are more intense in the video format and positive emotions are intensified in the face-to-face format.

Abstract:
Recent awareness of the pervasiveness of sexual abuse of children has resulted in a move to implement prevention programs. In conducting these programs the question of effectiveness is frequently asked. In an attempt to answer some of this concern, a questionnaire was developed and tested to determine children's base level of knowledge. The video format prevention program, “Feeling Yes, Feeling No”, available from the National Film Board (Canada) was tested as a method of increasing awareness. A school with a cross section of town and rural children, with differing socioeconomic backgrounds, participated in the study. The study consisted of a pretest of knowledge, a structured video interactive classroom prevention program, and a post-test measure of change. One hundred and thirty-seven students in grades 4, 5, and 6 participated. The program took 4 weeks to complete. When asked about their feelings with regard to the program, 97% of the children stated that they enjoyed it. The results indicated that while most children have a basic level of self-protective knowledge and assertiveness, they can, in a classroom setting, learn significant and additional facts about avoiding sexual assault. Eight of twenty-nine knowledge questions elicited a large change in response, suggesting increased awareness of self-protection. The most significant changes occurred with girls, the same group apparently most at risk.

Abstract:
Future adoption of shared automated vehicles (SAVs) should lead to several societal benefits, but both automated vehicles (AVs) and ridesharing must overcome their barriers to acceptance. Previous research has investigated age differences in ridesharing usage and factors influencing the acceptability and acceptance of AVs. Further complicating our understanding of SAV acceptance, much of the public lack accurate knowledge and/or actual experience regarding AVs. In this study, we employed a 3 (age group) × 4 (video condition) longitudinal mixed experimental design to investigate age differences in anticipated SAV acceptance after viewing different types of introductory videos related to AVs (educational, experiential, or both) or currently available ridesharing provided by transportation network companies (control). Younger, middle-aged, and older adults were randomly assigned to watch (1) an educational video about SAV technologies and potential benefits, (2) an experiential video showing an SAV navigating traffic, (3) both the experiential and educational videos or (4) a control video explaining how current ridesharing services work. Attitudes toward SAVs (intent to use, trust/reliability, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, safety, desire for control, cost, authority, media, and social influence) were measured before and after viewing the video(s). Significant differences in how SAV attitudes changed were found between the educational and experiential video conditions relative to the control video and between different age groups. Findings suggest that educational and/or experiential videos delivered in an online format can have modest but significant improvements to their viewers’ attitudes toward SAVs—particularly those of older adults.

Abstract:
This research essay explores how Marvel has transformed its marketing strategies in response to the impact of short video platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. With the rise of these platforms, the way content is created and consumed has drastically changed, and companies like Marvel have had to adapt to remain relevant and engaging to their target audience. This research topic is significant as it aims to investigate how Marvel has responded to this change and how effective these responses have been in engaging audiences. The research questions are focused on understanding the impact of short video platforms on Marvel's marketing strategies, the specific changes Marvel has made in response, the effectiveness of these changes, and how Marvel has leveraged its existing fan base on social media platforms to engage with audiences on short video platforms. Through a literature survey method and case analysis, this essay examines key strategies Marvel has implemented, such as embracing short-form content, engaging with fans, experimenting with new formats, and collaborating with influencers. The essay also evaluates Marvel's success in responding to short video platforms, the effectiveness of its strategies, and the impact on its audience and market position.

Abstract:
Background Mental health is a highly stigmatized disease, especially for young people. Due to its free, accessible format, college students increasingly use video-based social media for many aspects of information needs, including how-to tips, career, or health-related needs. The accessibility of video-based social media brings potential in supporting stigmatized contexts, such as college students’ mental health. Understanding which kinds of videos about college students’ mental health have increased viewer engagement will help build a foundation for exploring this potential. Little research has been done to identify video types systematically, how they have changed over time, and their associations on viewer engagement both short term and long term. Objective This study aims to identify strategies for using video-based social media to combat stigmatized diseases, such as mental health, among college students. We identify who, with what perspective, purpose, and content, makes up the videos available on social media (ie, YouTube) about college students’ mental health and how these factors associate with viewer engagement. We then identify effective strategies for designing video-based social media content for supporting college students’ mental health. Methods We performed inductive content analysis to identify different types of YouTube videos concerning college students’ mental health (N=452) according to video attributes, including poster, perspective, and purpose. Time analysis showed how video types have changed over time. Fisher’s exact test was used to examine the relationships between video attributes. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to test the association between video types and viewer engagement. Lastly, we investigated the difference in viewer engagement across time between two major types of videos (ie, individuals’ storytelling and organization’s informational videos). Results Time trend analysis showed a notable increase in the number of (1) videos by individuals, (2) videos that represent students’ perspectives, and (3) videos that share stories and experiential knowledge over the recent years. Fisher’s exact test found all video attributes (ie, poster, perspective, and purpose) are significantly correlated with each other. In addition, the Mann-Whitney U test found that poster (individual vs organization) and purpose (storytelling vs sharing information) type has a significant association with viewer engagement (P<.001). Lastly, individuals’ storytelling videos had a greater engagement in the short term and the long term. Conclusions The study shows that YouTube videos on college students’ mental health can be well differentiated by the types of posters and the purpose of the videos. Taken together, the videos where individuals share their personal stories, as well as experiential knowledge (ie, tips and advice), engaged more viewers in both the short term and long term. Individuals’ videos on YouTube showed the potential to support college students' mental health in unique ways, such as providing social support, validating experience, and sharing the positive experience of help-seeking.

Abstract:
PurposeThis study aims to investigate how media content consumed through immersive technology may evoke changes in human rights attitudes. It has been proposed that our inability to empathize with others could be overcome by stepping into another's shoes. “Immersive journalism” has been postulated as being able to place us into the shoes of those whose feelings and experiences are distant to us. While virtual reality (VR) and 360-degree news videos have become widely available, it remains unclear how the consumption of content through immersive journalism affects users' attitudes.Design/methodology/approachUtilizing a between-subject laboratory-controlled experiment (N = 87) this study examined participant scores on the Human Rights Questionnaire before and after consuming 360-degree video immersive journalism content via VR (n = 31), 2D (n = 29), and Article (n = 27) formats. Collected data were analysed using statistical inference.FindingsResults indicate that immersive journalism can elicit a positive attitudinal change in users, unlike an Article, with mobile VR having a more prominent effect than a 2D screen. Furthermore, this change is more strongly affected by users' higher Involvement in the content.Originality/valueThese findings are relevant for grasping the distinct effects novel and recently popularized technologies and media have on attitudinal change, as well as inform the current debate on the value of VR as “empathy machines”.

Abstract:
Pin Up! The Movie: An Interactive Documentary uses oral history to explore an international subculture. In it, women and men adopt vintage style and advocate for social and political change. Specifically, they use the subculture to advocate for anti-racist practices, call for body positivity, and lobby for full equity and acceptance of LGBTQI subcultural members. These advocates do this with acknowledgement of historical racism and sexism, which is sometimes echoed in the contemporary subculture. This i-doc intentionally uses non-professional storytelling tactics (vertical video, online video recordings, strait to camera interviews) to transform notions of a proper “aesthetic” within the documentary genre. It also invites subcultural members to take over its social media feeds. This paper argues that actively approaching the i-doc as a shared authority demonstrates how emerging formats, gamification of storytelling, and non-narrative structures can result in a sense of subcultural authenticity: a way to use the documentary format to provide agency to both members of the subculture featured in the project, as well as to audience members.

Abstract:
The presence of video mapping performances in Indonesia influences the behavior of appreciators in public spaces through acculturation. The propagation of Islamic teachings through wayang (puppet) shows had a fascinating impact on the history of public performances in Indonesia. Cultural acculturation can affect the behavior of public space appreciators or vice versa. This situation depends on the adaptability of appreciators with an Indonesian cultural background to changes in the format of public space performances. This change pertains to performance art incorporating innovative technology, such as wayang performances and video mapping. In order to conduct research on changes in appreciator behavior in public spaces, a descriptive-analytic method with an ethnographic and ethnological approach was required to examine Indonesian appreciators' ethnicity through wayang performances and literature studies. Then, it was compared to how the observatory video mapping performance was analyzed, such as Carl Gustav Jung's theory or Pierre Bourdieu's habitus perception, where the memory of previous inherited behavior influences current behavior or individual behavior is influenced by its social experience. This study's analysis revealed that the behavior of appreciators in public spaces, such as video mapping performances in Indonesia, which are renewable with the use of technology, is nearly similar to that of wayang performance appreciators.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article reports a study of a full-scale digital examination in a five-year master program of teacher education in Norway. The innovative design involves observing a video case based on an authentic classroom situation and analysing the case in light of educational theory and subject content knowledge. All parts of this format are to be solved on a computer with Internet access. The study is centred on the pre-service teachers’ experiences of this open-ended and unfamiliar testing format. More specifically, the intention has been to analyse (a) what kinds of preparations they engaged in; (b) how they solved tasks during the examination; (c) their reflections on this mode of examination. Interviews with 11 informants have been conducted, and the content is summarized in three selected cases, and finally across the interview sample. The results indicate that innovations like this are interpreted and approached against the background of pre-service teachers’ expectations, and the open format engaged the pre-service teachers to draw upon a wide range of resources both when preparing and solving the tasks. It is, however, timely to question whether the introduction of the examination format, based on faculty interest and intentions, will have the intended impact on evaluation procedures in an established learning culture.

Abstract:
As young football players develop important technical and tactical skills during competitive matches, this study investigated quantity and quality of technical and tactical actions in real game conditions in a 4v4 compared to the traditional 7v7 match format. In total, three matches of each format were played by 103 young football players (10.3±0.6 years) and video monitored for subsequent manual tagging of technical and tactical events. Based on the number of technical and tactical actions in the 7v7 matches, players were classified as dominant or non-dominant and changes in these subgroups were assessed during the 4v4 match format. The 4v4 match format significantly (P<0.001) increased total number of actions per player per minute compared to the 7v7 matches (5.59±1.44 and 2.78±0.73, respectively) and the number of successful (2.88±0.92 and 1.15±0.49, respectively) and unsuccessful (1.05±0.42 and 0.67±0.23, respectively) actions. Both dominant and non-dominant players increased their number of actions during the 4v4 compared to 7v7 match format. Despite a missing significant interaction effect, there was a larger percentage increase in number of actions for the non-dominant players (143%) compared to dominant players (72%) in 4v4. The 4v4 match format shows twice as many technical and tactical actions in real game conditions and, therefore, may improve players’ skill development.

Abstract:
Abstract Student-generated video creation assessments are an innovative and emerging form of assessment in higher education. Academic staff may be understandably reluctant to transform assessment practices without robust evidence of the benefits and rationale for doing so and some guidance regarding how to do so successfully. A systematic approach to searching the literature was conducted to identify relevant resources, which generated key documents, authors and internet sources which were thematically analysed. This comprehensive critical synthesis of literature is presented here under the headings of findings from literature, relevance of digital capabilities, understanding the influence of local context and resources, and pedagogical considerations. Student-generated video creation for assessment is shown to have several benefits, notably in supporting development of digital and communication skills relevant to today’s world and in enhancing learning. As an emerging innovation within assessment, intentionally planning and supporting a change management process with both students and staff is required. The importance of alignment to learning outcomes, context and resources, choice of video format to desired skills development, and to relevance beyond graduation is emphasised for video creation in assessment to be used successfully. Video creation for assessment is likely to grow in popularity and it is hoped the evidence of benefits, rationale and guidance as to how to do this effectively presented here will support this transformation. Further research to consider video creation for assessment with individuals rather than collaborative group assessments, and to establish academic rigour and equivalence would be beneficial.

Abstract:
Abstract Education is central to driving change in clinical practice. First, primary care providers and their clinic team members need to understand why detecting cognitive impairment is important, how it can be done efficiently, and what the next steps in referral and management are. To engage primary care clinics in this change process, we developed a continuing education intervention, based on the KAER Model, using a live video format. Four evidence-based, 45-minute training modules presented core knowledge skills, including how to have difficult conversations, which are essential to diagnosing cognitive impairment. To overcome the obstacles to doing so in primary care, our team relied on a deep understanding of busy primary care practice. With a combined 35 years of direct experience in primary care, our collaborative interdisciplinary team was able to use the KAER Model to develop a highly acceptable intervention for primary care.

Abstract:
Abstract Few researchers share study results with participants, often citing a lack of knowledge regarding how to do so. This study explored the dissemination preferences of study participants receiving results in the form of found poetry, developed from dyadic interviews with sexual and gender minority (SGM) and non-SGM couples’ regarding their experiences with cancer. Participants (N=24) completed demographic and health questionnaires, a pre-posttraumatic growth-inventory-expanded (PTGI-X), and were randomized to receive the found poem as text, text and audio, audio, or video formats. Participants completed a post-PTGI-X, reported dissemination preferences, and emotions experienced. Open-ended responses demonstrated that using found poetry to disseminate results communicated that participant experiences were understood, fostered introspection, and renewed appreciation for their partner. Only SGM participants (n=3) reported preferring a format other than the one to which they were randomized. The text-only and combined text and audio formats evoked the greatest number of emotions (n=13 each) followed by video (n=4), and audio-only (n=3). Across randomization groups, interest (n=11) was most frequently reported, followed by sadness (n=8), and joy (n=6). Quantitatively, there were no significant changes in participants’ PTG—a small sample size may have reduced statistical power—which might be seen as a failure. However, the open-ended responses indicate that innovative approaches to dissemination are acceptable and multiple options may increase accessibility. Only SGM participants preferred an alternate format, potentially reflecting a natural inclination to question the status quo. Including minority perspectives (positive/negative) illuminates the need to offer study participants choices in how and when they receive findings.

Abstract:
Object Surgical and medical errors result from failures in communication and handoffs as well as lack of standardization in clinical protocols and safety practices. Checklists, simulation training, and teamwork training have been shown to decrease adverse patient events and increase the safety culture of surgical teams. The goal of this project was to simplify and standardize perioperative patient safety practices and team communication processes within operative neurosurgery through the creation of an educational safety video targeted at a neurosurgical provider audience. Methods A multidisciplinary group consisting of neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, neuromonitoring specialists, quality champions, and a professional video production company met over several months in an iterative process to 1) determine the overall objectives of the video, 2) decide on the content and format of the video, 3) modify the proposed content and format based on stakeholder feedback, and 4) record the video and complete final revisions during postproduction. Results The video was launched within the authors' institution in July 2012 in conjunction with ongoing research projects to study the effects of the video on 1) multidisciplinary providers' knowledge of perioperative safety practices, 2) provider safety attitudes and safety culture in the operating room, and 3) provider behavior in performing predetermined elements of the preoperative timeout and postoperative debrief. Conclusions The neurosurgical perioperative safety video can serve as a national model for how quality champions can drive changes in safety culture and provider behavior among multidisciplinary perioperative patient care teams. Ongoing research is being performed to assess the impact of the video on provider knowledge, behavior, and safety attitudes and culture.

Abstract:
This research approaches the video games industry in search of indicators that make it an ally to help combat gender violence. The object of study is the trilogy made up of The Kite, Little Kite and Repentant (Anate Studio, 2012-2018); three titles that demonstrate how the video game is not only a purely recreational format, but also offers experiences with other purposes, such as raising awareness of social problems. We start from the hypothesis that, although gender violence appears as a central theme in these games, it does it in a way that perpetuates stereotypes; and we propose as the main objective to analyze the way in which gender violence is represented, using a playful-narrative analysis, and as a secondary objective to reflect on the potential of video games to conceptualize gender violence as a social problem and make known about its importance. The results show that, although this trilogy is a good starting point to contribute to social change, the vision it offers of gender violence is reduced to the domestic sphere and is associated with alcoholism and marginalization.

Abstract:
The formation of a Peoples' Assembly and occupation of the city of Oaxaca (Mexico) in 2006 has been widely considered a rebirth of the Commune and was also one of the first widely video-recorded uprisings of the 21st century. As media practice, activist videos approximate an identity of creative art/work and socio-political change but also warrant consideration of their formal aspects. How do stylistic choices help or hinder reflecting on the not-quite-here-yet of prefigurative politics? In contrast with video art, graffiti, and performance protest, activist videos overwhelmingly adhere to evidentiary forms. Carefully edited, they invite viewers to view crowdsourced footage as indexical traces of what “really” occurred in front of the lens but draw little attention to contingency or to the artifice of cinema. Activist videos' politics of truth and reliance on interviews underscore lingering, more hierarchical visions of revolution and risk inscribing what is there to the detriment of equality and potentiality. Even so, some activist videos playfully invoke a future already arrived.

Educational institutions need promotion tools to attract their segmentation. Promotion medium is used to increase awareness so that the youngster know about information and are interested to register themselves. A medium that has ability to show campus program in short time both attract them is using video. Video is a combination of moving image, sound, visual effect and has complex process to reach best visualization. On the other hand, sometimes the institution only has collection of documentation in photography format. The problem is how to use photo documentation to become short attractive video that shows whole institution programs. Final execution to recycle collection of pictures is using parallax style. This creation of style changes the photos to be more lifelike, which move with three dimensional cinematic effect.

Abstract:
Background Due to the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), school openings were postponed worldwide as a way to stop its spread. Most classes are moving online, and this includes medical school classes. The authors present their experience of running such online classes with offline clinical clerkship under pandemic conditions, and also present data on student satisfaction, academic performance, and preference. Methods The medical school changed every first-year to fourth-year course to an online format except the clinical clerkship, clinical skills training, and basic laboratory classes such as anatomy lab sessions. Online courses were pre-recorded video lectures or live-streamed using video communication software. At the end of each course, students and professors were asked to report their satisfaction with the online course and comment on it. The authors also compared students’ academic performance before and after the introduction of online courses. Results A total of 69.7% (318/456) of students and 35.2% (44/125) of professors answered the questionnaire. Students were generally satisfied with the online course and 62.2% of them preferred the online course to the offline course. The majority (84.3%) of the students wanted to maintain the online course after the end of COVID-19. In contrast, just 13.6% of professors preferred online lectures and half (52.3%) wanted to go back to the offline course. With the introduction of online classes, students' academic achievement did not change significantly in four subjects, but decreased in two subjects. Conclusions The inevitable transformation of medical education caused by COVID-19 is still ongoing. As the safety of students and the training of competent physicians are the responsibilities of medical schools, further research into how future physicians will be educated is needed.

Abstract:
This article explores how emotional attachment and a sense of morality often drive journalists to produce great work in areas of conflict, particularly those solo video journalists who produce long format current affairs. But it also questions if a sense of engagement can impede journalist’s ability to report objectively? And how relevant is this ideal today? Former BBC war correspondent Martin Bell changed his view on objectivity after covering the Balkans War. He advocated for a journalism of attachment especially in war zones and amid human suffering. There are some Australian video journalists whose sense of engagement has defined outstanding bodies of work. However, some practices in the field often defy concepts of impartiality. Issues of, if, or when, to put down the camera and give assistance; or how to remain fair and honest to the story while gaining the long term trust of sources, sometimes challenges journalists.

Abstract:
Asthma is an obstructive chronic pulmonary disease which causes shortness of breath and requires distinct diagnostic strategies and treatment management. The disease requires long-term treatment where the patient's condition can hopefully remain under control. There are still many symptom recurrences found in asthma patients due to inaccurate/incomplete procedures in using inhalers. The purpose of this community service is to develop knowledge and understanding of the completeness of usage procedures of Ventolin Inhalers by utilizing videos as visual training to achieve expected therapeutic effect and aid asthma patients in controlling/avoiding asthma relapse. Data collection was carried out through observation in the form of checklists which contained the procedures for using the inhaler, followed by descriptive analysis. The observations were made one month before and after video education. Education in video format was distributed on day one. The video was uploaded to Youtube and contain procedures on how to use the inhaler device. Alternatively, it can also be sent through the patient's WhatsApp account. The data collection process was carried out from April to July 2020. There were changes in the number of patients before and after the provision of video education. This shows the level of knowledge and understanding of asthma patients regarding the completeness of the procedure for using Ventolin Inhaler had increased. Inappropriate usage of inhalers or errors made during the implementation of each step can affect the effectiveness of drug therapy and can cause unwanted side effects.

This article asks how good video and computer game designers manage to get new players to learn long, complex and difficult games. The short answer is that designers of good games have hit on excellent methods for getting people to learn and to enjoy learning. The longer answer is more complex. Integral to this answer are the good principles of learning built into successful games. The author discusses 13 such principles under the headings of ‘Empowered Learners’, ‘Problem Solving’ and ‘Understanding’ and concludes that the main impediment to implementing these principles in formal education is cost. This, however, is not only (or even so much) monetary cost. It is, importantly, the cost of changing minds about how and where learning is done and of changing one of our most profoundly change-resistant institutions: the school.

Abstract:
The level of education does not guarantee the necessary level of critical thinking, both individually and collectively. A modern person faces the problem of processing text and multimedia terabytes of information in the educational process, which does not affect the creativity and creative approach of a qualified specialist in solving the tasks set for the individual and society to solve. In addition, the large volumes of knowledge intensively acquired by those gaining education in our time overwork brain activity and lead to resistance to information overload. Now, the simpler the exchange format, the better. No one wants to work with large amounts of data, and it accumulates quickly in every field of knowledge. Few people think about the problem of connectedness of information, the trend of clip thinking is growing. That is, a person is deprived of opportunities and skills to understand and manipulate things more complex than one picture, comic or short video. Thus, the education system faces a dilemma: how to form the necessary level of professional competence in an individual and at the same time develop critical and systemic thinking, and not suppress his creative social activity by overloading with unnecessary information and knowledge. It is necessary to create conditions for solving the main problem of the post-information society, in which the level of education should be determined by the quality of the specialist's thinking, and not by the amount of knowledge acquired by him. The article examines the trends that influence the change in the thinking of modern people through the prism of the creation of the latest format of education, taking into account the factors determined by the use of the latest information technologies in the design and development of educational platforms. The need to change educational information technologies in the education system and transition from "monolithic" educational technologies to flexible information technologies implemented in microservice architecture is substantiated.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate how the new Budget Act (2015) and the new budget cycle influence and were influenced by the contextual environment of the Tanzanian parliament and how this changed parliamentarians’ (MPs) budgetary oversight roles. Design/methodology/approach The paper employed analytical concepts explained in the contextual framework proposed by Alsharari et al. (2015) to explore changes in budgetary oversight roles after the implementation of the reforms. Interviews, video clips and document review were employed in the data collection. Data were analyzed using the thematic approach. Findings The values of the new Budget Act and the new budget cycle were in conflict with the prevailing institutions, political and power aspects. The MPs modified a few provisions in the new Budget Act and in the new budget cycle. Legitimating budgetary oversight roles as a result of institutional pressure emerged but stopped. Although there was a change in MPs formal powers and MPs involvement in budgetary oversight, there was stability as the change was ineffective. Research limitations/implications The paper only extracted relevant aspects of the contextual framework, which were sufficient to achieve the objective of the paper. Moreover, the study was conducted only a few years after the implementation of the reforms. Therefore, it might be too early to reach conclusions. Yet, the paper serves as the basis for further studies investigating changes in budgetary oversight roles after the implementation of the reforms. Practical implications In order for the parliament to hold the government accountable to the electorate, there is a need for reforming the nature of the government system, improving MPs capacity, harmonizing Budget Act with prevailing constitution and demonstrating the political will to use MPs’ formal powers. The findings suggest that effective change in budgetary oversight by focusing on formal institutions only is unlikely. Originality/value This paper provides a more robust explanation on how the integration of institutional, political and power aspects shape budgetary oversight roles in parliaments. It is the first paper to explore accounting change using the contextual theoretical framework in an organization of a parliamentary nature. The paper responds to Kim’s (2018) call for conducting case studies to explore changes in budgetary oversight roles by investigating potential attributes of institutions when operating in practice.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Food safety training does not always result in behavior change, perhaps because of flaws inherent in traditional training designs. New technologies such as augmented reality headsets or head-mounted action cameras could transform the way food safety training is conducted in the food industry. Training conducted with wearable technology presents visual content in the first-person or actor's perspective, as opposed to the traditional third-person or observer perspective. This visual hands-on first-person perspective may provide an effective way of conveying information and encouraging behavior execution because it uses the mirror neuron system. There is little published literature about the impact of perspective on food safety training outcomes, such as motivation. The present study included a repeated-measures design to determine how first- and third-person camera angles affected hand washing training reactions among 108 currently employed restaurant food handlers. Participants were assessed on their posttraining compliance intentions, compliance self-efficacy, perceived utility of the training, overall satisfaction with the training, and video perspective preference. A significant proportion of food handlers (64%) preferred the first-person video perspective (z = 5.00, P < 0.001), and a significant correlation was found between compliance intentions and compliance self-efficacy (r(108) = 0.361, P < 0.001) for the first-person video. No significant differences in video preference were found for demographic variables, including age (χ2 (2, n = 104) = 1.69, P = 0.430), which suggests that the first-person training format appeals to a diverse workforce. These findings support the application of wearable technology to enhance hand washing training outcomes across a wide range of demographic groups. This research lays the framework for future studies to assess the impact of instructional design on compliance concerning hand washing and other food handling behaviors.

Abstract:
Background. Executive functions are actively developing in children of preschool age. Executive functions’ development is also influenced by the way children are using digital devices. Joint media engagement is one of the parameters of digital device usage that has been poorly studied so far, although this is of great importance from the point of view of cultural-historical psychology. Objective. Our research aimed to explore the association between young children’s development of executive functions over a year, and their joint media engagement with parents and siblings in preschool children. Design. Four hundred ninety (490) typically developing children (52% of them were boys) participated in the study. It was a longitudinal study: during the first stage, the children were 5-6 years old; the second stage followed one year later. The NEPSY-II subtests (Inhibition, Statue, Memory for Designs, Sentences Repetition) and the Dimensional Change Card Sort were used to assess executive functions. A questionnaire for mothers was used to get information about the children’s joint media engagement and screen time. Results. Children who watched video content and played video games together with their siblings developed more inhibitory control over the year than those children who did it alone. Co-viewing of video content with parents was associated with a decrease in cognitive flexibility over the year, as opposed to watching it alone. Conclusion. The obtained data allows us to conclude that joint media engagement is important for executive functions development, and that there are optimal formats of joint media engagement. Based on the limitations of this study, recommendations for future research were suggested.

Aims1. To ensure there is documented evidence of discussion about legal aspect of dementia with patients and relatives. 2. To Improve documentation of Financial management by 100% at the end of 3 months. 3.To Improve documentation of LPA and other related legal areas by 70% at the end of 3 monthsMethodsIn Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Memory services, we are seeing patients with cognitive impairment which can be due to dementia. So, it is really important to discuss and help a person and/or relative with making decision about client's health, welfare or finances. Though each team member discusses about what they did for the same, we identified that it was not reflected in the documentation. After finalising data collection form, we then performed a retrospective collection of number of documented assessment/discharge report/progress notes within an identified 3-month time period from March to May 2021. Our intervention was Email and MDT remainders, developing patient information video, and structured format to document about legal aspect of dementia like, financial management, Lasting power of Attorney, Court of protection, Advance will, etc. We run PDSA cycles and collected a data at the end of each month to see whether change ideas are helping to improve documentation and whether any modification will require with the plan.ResultsOut of 67 patients record which were reviewed as a baseline data, 39% of them has diagnosis of dementia or Mild Cognitive impairment. Discussion about LPA was recorded in only 16% of the documents. There is no mention of how a person is managing their finances in 30.7 percent of documents. After implementing change ideas, 29 patients who were seen during the month of December were reviewed using the same data collection form. Documentation of discussion about financial management was improved to 93.1%. Documentation of Discussion about how to set up LPA, if a person doesn't have one has been approved from 10.4% to 55.2%. The cycles will continue for month of January and February and data will be assessed and compared at the end February 2022.ConclusionBasis on the data available till date, a general improvement in the record keeping of notes was seen. Simple intervention like email reminders, reminder in MDT, structured format for documentation and patient information in visual format can improve the documentation of work. More detailed conclusion will be drawn at the end of 3 months.

Abstract:
Introduction Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy has been shown to reduce psychological distress in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, but uptake and attendance rates of hospital-based, face-to-face mindfulness-based cognitive therapy are low. The present mixed-methods study evaluates the clinical feasibility of home-based, tele-delivered mindfulness-based cognitive therapy in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Methods Eight patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (mean age: 72.6 years; 50% female) received a standardised eight-week mindfulness-based cognitive therapy programme delivered via home-based video-conferences in groups of four. Feasibility in relation to (a) clinical change, (b) attendance and (c) instructor-patient working alliance were evaluated with questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Results Statistically non-significant reductions in psychological distress (Cohen’s d = 0.504; p = 0.399) and physical health status impairment ( d = 0.743; p = 0.156) were observed from pre- to post-intervention. Participant narratives about clinical outcomes focused on changes in how to relate to unpleasant sensations, i.e. through attentional flexibility, taking a pause and acceptance. The average attendance rate was 7.5 (standard deviation = 0.8) out of eight sessions and no participants dropped out. The tele-based format appeared to accommodate participants’ planning difficulties and promoted their ability and wish to participate. Although participant narratives suggested the tele-based format to be a barrier to developing a trusting and safe therapeutic environment, working alliance questionnaire scores were comparable to those found for face-to-face mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. Discussion The preliminary results indicate that tele-delivered mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is a clinically feasible intervention in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Future large-scale, randomised controlled trials testing its efficacy on the outcomes of psychological distress and physical health status should include analyses of potential mediators and moderators of the effect as well as and careful monitoring of attendance and adverse events.

Abstract:
Purpose: This study aims to investigate whether controversial TV content impacts the effects of non – standard advertising such as sponsorship vignette among female viewers. Methodology: The present study used two field experiments (n = 222; n = 219) conducted as a Computer-Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) questionnaire, during which video material was presented. The study manipulated controversial and non-controversial and the variable of congruence and incongruence – through the argument of video material in the form of TV programs and advertising spots. Results: The empirical investigation revealed that controversial and incongruent content does not necessarily alter the effect of a sponsorship vignette. Loyal viewers who consistently follow programs were found to have higher purchase intent than less loyal ones. Implications: The results suggest that advertisers should consider placing their messages in the context of controversial TV programming, which does not have to be congruent with the ads displayed. Limitations: The stimuli applied in the studies were arbitrary, to a certain extent. The study did not investigate program’s about sex that fit the definition of controversiality. Originality/value: The study contributes to the existing literature on ad–content congruence by investigating consumer responses to innovative ad format: the sponsorship vignette. We investigated how specific content watched in longer periods of time (i.e. a series) may impact the advertising effectiveness of embedded sponsorship vignettes. This approach allowed us to demonstrate the importance of viewers’ loyalty towards a TV program, resulting in a change of the level of purchase intent of advertised product.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction: Research advances on effective methods to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer continue to emerge through clinical and genomic research. To ensure the results from these research studies help those who need it most, a diverse population needs to enroll. Despite guidance from authorities, such as the National Institutes of Health, most clinical trial and genomic research participants identify as White. At the participant level, mistrust of research, unawareness of research opportunities and gaps in bioethical knowledge about clinical trials and genomic research remain proven barriers to participating, especially among African Americans (AA) and Hispanics. With the development and access to technology, digital delivery of salient and tailored health education may provide innovative pathways to increase representation of AA and Hispanics in research. Methods: Members from the NCI-funded Partnerships to Advance Cancer Health Equity (PACHE) including experts from the community, healthcare, biomedical research and public health, such as oncologists, cancer geneticists, behavioral scientists and bioethicists collaborated on all phases. A design lab with experience synthesizing complex health messages into brief animations was contracted. The goal was to utilize existing educational resources from the National Cancer Institute and the National Human Genome Research Institute to create a tailored message to address AA's and Hispanics’ beliefs, values and bioethical concerns related to participation in clinical and genomic research. Models of behavior change and communication theories were leveraged to frame key components of the message, which then informed the animated video. Results: Development of the video consisted of six iterative phases: 1) writing sessions; 2) storyboarding; 3) animating; 4) screening/revisions; 5) acceptability testing; 6) finalization. In the last two steps, the video was presented to family members of cancer patients, cancer survivors and community members who provided quantitative and qualitative feedback which informed further edits. The final animated video is approximately five minutes in length and covers several topics including the goal of clinical research, disparities in clinical trials and genomic research participation, genomic research regulations and the purpose of a biobank. Supporting imagery to emphasize specific concepts, such as racial disparities in research, was dispersed throughout the video. A voiceover emphasized key bioethical concepts, including how research participation is safe and voluntary. When possible, characters were designed to resemble the targeted viewing audience. Discussion: Increasing AA and Hispanic participation in clinical and genomic research is imperative to achieving health equity. Tailored messages via short videos may assist in addressing the barriers and facilitators towards research participation and increase intentions to enroll in trials. Future research will evaluate the efficacy of the video through a multi-level framework in real-world settings. The growing power of social media and the fast change of communication forms encourages marketers to explore new ways for brands to communicate creatively and effectively. The aim of this study is to determine how to reveal the involvement of influencers in creative forms of brand communication by analysing (comparatively) the expression of Lithuanian and foreign influencers in social networks. Research methodology and results: analysis academic literature and quantitative content analysis in social networks. Literature analysis reviled, that the main dimensions of communication strategy with influencers involves four stages: setting the objectives of the campaign; setting the criteria to find out right influencer; setting campaign duration and platform; influencer performance analysis. The results of the study showed that one of the most important and most inclusive step is choosing the right influencer. It is important to choose not only based on brand profile, but also to evaluate the potential risks when working with one or another influencer. Brands are recommended to choose those influencers that are not overloaded with another brands, integrate advertising into video format and reveal that their integration is brand advertising, because consumers tend to choose the products or services which are chosen by the celebrities they follow.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced many people to convert their daily work lives to a "virtual" format, in which they connected remotely from home. In this new, virtual environment, accessibility barriers changed, in some respects for the better (e.g., more flexibility) and in other aspects, for the worse (e.g., problems including American Sign Language interpreters over video calls). Microsoft Research held its first cohort of all virtual interns in 2020. We, the interns, full-time members, and affiliates of the Ability Team, a Microsoft research team focused on accessibility, report on our experiences navigating the challenges of working remotely. Abstract:
Background The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about sweeping change in health care delivery, which has shifted from in-person consultations to a web-based format. Few medical schools provide web-based medicine or telemedicine training to their learners, though this is likely to be important for future medical practice. Objective This tutorial communicates a framework for incorporating medical students into primary care telemedicine clinics. Methods A third-year medical student and internal medicine attending physician from the Johns Hopkins University completed telemedicine clinic visits in April 2020 by using a variety of video platforms and via telephone calls. Results Nine telemedicine visits were completed over 4 clinic days. Our patients were, on average, aged 68 years. The majority of patients were female (6/9, 67%), and most appointments were completed via a video platform (6/9, 67%). Additionally, our experience is summarized and describe (1) practical tips for how to prepare for a telehealth visit; (2) technology considerations; (3) recommendations for participation during a telehealth visit; (4) debriefing and feedback; (5) challenges to care; and (6) student, care provider, and patient reactions to telemedicine visits. Conclusions Telemedicine clinics have been successfully used for managing patients with chronic conditions, those who have attended low-risk urgent care visits, and those with mental health concerns. Patients have reported high patient satisfaction scores for telemedicine visits, and the majority of patients are comfortable with having medical students as part of their care team. Moving forward, telemedicine will remain a popular method for receiving health care. This study has highlighted that medical students can successfully be integrated into telemedicine clinics and that they should be exposed to telehealth whenever possible prior to residency.

Abstract:
IntroductionAdjusting an external fixator can be a daunting process for patients. Despite comprehensive training, patients often request supervision for the initial adjustments which may result in a prolonged hospital stay. Following the introduction of telemedicine during the pandemic we believed that this could be utilised to support patients with their fixator adjustments. A quality improvement project was implemented to assess and evaluate a change in practice from existing Face to Face support to a telemedicine format. The aim of the project was to reduce median length of stay (LOS).Materials & MethodsThe telemedicine platform was introduced in our unit from April 2021 with the change in practice. Using the life QI platform, run charts were used to record the numbers of patients whose LOS was 4 days or less. Median LOS was assessed prior to and following introduction of the telemedicine platform. Service user experience with telemedicine as well as overall training and education by the CNS team was sought through on-line questionnaires.ResultsBaseline data collected from April 2019 to April 2021 showed that our median LOS for patients undergoing external fixation was 6 days with 36% of patients being discharged at day 4 or earlier. After implementation of telemedicine, median LOS reduced to 4 days with 50% of patients leaving hospital in 4 days or less. Service user responses demonstrated that 100% felt that sufficient information was provided by the CNS team, a mean score of 8.4/10 was reported when asked how confident they were when adjusting the fixator. When asked how the service could be improved access to a recorded video was suggested.ConclusionsInitial fixator adjustment support via telemedicine is not appropriate for all of our patient group due to a lack of access or co-morbidities/ social issues that necessitate a prolonged hospital stay. However, this project has demonstrated that it has had positive long-term benefits within our service through reducing our median length of stay by 2 days without compromising patient satisfaction with their care.

Professionalism in creating media messages is no longer considered as exclusiveness of mass media outlets. With time, because of the growing interest in watching the video content online, YouTube channels have moved from amateur home videos towards higher quality production. Considering these changes, it is interesting to see how youtubers are contributing to the evolution of media content and television formats in particular. By examining and analyzing a number of YouTube channels this research is trying to establish in which way the television formats were adopted by youtubers and how youtubers particularly those considered to be influencers have changed the principles of making audio-visual content.

Abstract:
Journalism nowadays is more challenging than ever before. The questions raised here are essential for the future of journalism and all those who believe that journalism matters.News is defined as how power flows through media organizations, influencing what journalists choose to present to their audiences and how they present it and then, in turn, what their audiences do with it. The digital age changes many journalism events, showing us that the text could even be written by artificial intelligence. Several challenges are critical. The digital era moves media companies from positions where they were gatekeepers and creators of the news agenda to platforms where companies control audiences. Social media and platforms allow audiences to collect information from many sources. Unfortunately, to live in an era of fake news and a crowd of information, at the same time, means to losing the war for journalism, and in the worstcase, losing public trust. On the other side, the business model of media organizations weakens professional journalism, as it is faced with commercial and political pressure resulting in more diverse news than ever. The shifts in news consumption are even more pronounced if one looks at the age of news consumers. There is a massive generation gap, with young people far more likely to seek information on digital platforms and older people more reliant on traditional media.Simultaneously, it is morecostly to produce news for traditional media outlets that send reporters to news hot spots worldwide, take time for in-depth reporting projects and hire more expensive and experienced journalists. So, even, the so called, old media, if they want to survive, they must turn to multimedia So, the new era, demands new skills. A journalist needs to know how to write a story. News programs are so interesting because they have a form of storytelling, a vital technique for every period. However, nowadays, more important is to visualize and put the text about a video. Also, todays journalists are 24/7 online, and they produce news rapidly, first on the website then maybe on Twitter (old name for X) and other social media channels. Therefore, multimedia journalism is about more than multimedia. In spite of all new technologies, one thing will be always, more important.Onecan not be a good journalist if he/she is not curious. With all of the available tools, journalists need to understand how to use them technically and comprehend how each multimedia format can best be used for storytelling.

Abstract:
Background: Patients with MDS continue to report gaps in knowledge, particularly where understanding of disease risk, prognosis and treatment options are concerned.1 A recent online social media survey on experiences in myelodysplastic syndromes revealed that patients/caregivers' (n=127) have a general lack of information about MDS and insufficient knowledge regarding treatment options and are unable to make fully informed decisions.2 Efforts to improve patient and caregiver understanding of MDS, including treatment options, are critical to individualized treatment planning and shared decision-making. MDS patients commonly use multimedia and online resources to seek disease information.3 The MDSF introduced an online 'animated,' visual format educational program in July 2018 aimed at improving patient and caregiver knowledge.4 Evaluation of this project, including determining changes in patient knowledge and intent-to-implement a change in behavior are described as parameters of advancing and benefiting health outcomes. Methods: An Animated Patient's Guide to MDS (APG), a multimedia educational initiative was launched globally in July 2018. Recruitment was conducted via search engine marketing, social media promotions and email campaigns to MDS patients, caregivers and oncology provider audiences. Video views, duration of use, and learner responses to questions on the APG website were collected from July 2018 to July 2020 (24 months). Total APG views, most frequently viewed MDS animations and MDS expert videos were monitored on the website and on You Tube, to measure learner responses to outcome-based questions, and learner intent-to-implement changes. Results: A total of 151,231 views, including 58,947 unique visitors visited the APG online resource. Of these, 81% were from the U.S. and 19% from other countries (> 50 countries). Unique visitors from U.S. consisted of 28,171 patients, 15,279 family/caregivers, and 1,910 health providers. Among responses indicating a 'commitment to change', 96% reported they will 'use new information learned to better self-manage their MDS' (n = 917), 93% reported they 'will discuss information learned with their doctor' (n = 355), and 97% reported they 'plan to discuss MDS treatment options with their doctor' (n = 734). Patients who reported they 'learned new information about MDS' identified that they 'learned new general information about MDS' (95%, n = 193), 'learned new information about the diagnosis of MDS' (86%, n = 195), 'learned about new treatment options for MDS' (89%, n = 195), 'learned about new information related to bone marrow transplant in MDS' (85%, n = 177) and intended to 'ask their doctor about how to take part in healthcare decisions' (96%, n = 187). Conclusion: Multimedia education, including visual 'animated' formats, tailored to the needs of MDS patients has the potential to provide effective learning, increase knowledge and improve engagement in shared decision-making. Ongoing monitoring and further analysis of this multimedia educational resource for MDS patients will be necessary to understand how tailored education provided via this format impacts and benefits patient health outcomes. Abstract:
Trends related to the development of digital technologies and their impact on the social and humanitarian sphere continue to be relevant. The emergence of digital networks not only leads to the expansion of social connections, but also forms the trend of transformation of digital networks into augmented reality, which displaces the living space of nature from the lives of young generations. Deepening of the transformations carries certain risks, since it becomes a source of generating cyber reality, an environment of unpredictable communications. It escapes attention that techno-networks, created initially for the transmission of formalized information flows, are beginning to be mastered by a person for a new type of resources as a space of intersubjective communication. As a result, due to the lack of the necessary cultural field, a qualitatively different, surrogate interaction develops. Under these conditions, the simplest communication models are implemented, based solely on the personal psychological experience of each of the participants, who hide in the digital world from the complexities of real life. For a modern person, the web becomes a space of illusory openness, a zone of serious risks and qualitative changes. The article examines how quickly each member of society gets involved in the new, digital format of interaction and hi-tech communications, and how this practice determines the person’s perception of the world, their cognitive activity. Essentially, it is necessary to clarify how the “web” or “net” space has created the prospects for the development of a real person, carrying a natural potential, and how high the psychological risks of imprinting, suggestive suppression of creative forces in the new topos of communications are. It is also important to raise the issue of formulating expert assessments of the development of networks for humans. Is it possible to consider today’s issues as a natural stage in overcoming the problems of self-realization of a person’s creative potential, or is this due to the fact that in a digital network a person develops not as an autopoetic integrity, but as a being partially prosthetic in audio-video format? Such specific activity impose restrictions on the process of cognition of the world by a person, on their worldview, and affect their independence and behavior. It is important to understand whether a human-sized network adequate to the person’s complexity is possible, and how the modern social environment, human culture, can be enriched with the network potential, new communications.

Abstract:
Characters are signs and symbols that record our thoughts and feelings and allow the documentation of events and history. Later, the appearance of motion images marked a new milestone in the use and application of characters. Not only were the original function of characters improved and enhanced, text that integrate sound and images are also able to communicate much more diverse and abundant information. This technique is commonly found in cinema, television, advertisement, and animation. Thanks to technological advances, the combination of characters, texts, or types and images once again changed how we read. It has also created new meaning for our time. Today, type image seems to have achieved an aesthetic autonomy of their own. This has a profound impact on image and art creation and human communication. The emergence of cinema art in the late 19th century brought motion into written media and greatly expanded the possibilities of art. In today’s world of instant communication media, text and images face unprecedented changes. Chinese characters are one of the most ancient writing systems in human history. Unlike western alphabet, each Chinese character has its own form, sound, and meaning. Chinese characters are a highly figurative cultural element. This essay takes Chinese characters and the works featured in the concrete poetry/sound poetry and fragment poetry categories in the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts “Type Motion: Type as Image in Motion” exhibition as the subject of study to examine the history of text and media and changes in the way we deliver information and communicate. This essay also provides an analysis of the relationship between text and motion image and the interdependency between culture and technology and media. The connections and differences between Chinese characters in different time and space is also investigated to highlight the uniqueness of the characters as a medium, its application in motion writing techniques and aesthetic forms. This essay focuses on the following four topics: Artistic expression and styles related to the development of type as image in motion. Video poetics: the association between poetics and video images, poetic framework, and analysis of film poetry. Structure, format, characteristics, and presentation of meaning in concrete poetry/sound poetry, and fragment poetry. how Chinese characters are used in Taiwan and the aesthetic features of type through the exhibited works.

Abstract:
PurposeThis study aimed to examine how the effects of traditional tertiary education (lecture format) on various outcomes – including goal attainment, psychopathology (stress, anxiety and depression), resilience, solution-focused thinking and self-insight – compare to effects of traditional education supplemented by health coaching, delivered through Zoom video-conferencing.Design/methodology/approachThe study, which involved mature-age Israeli undergraduate students enrolled in a health promotion course (n = 178), used a randomized controlled between-subjects (pre-post) design. Participants were each randomly assigned to a traditional-education condition (n = 90) or to a coaching condition (n = 88). All participants attended 13 weekly course lectures; those in the coaching condition also participated in weekly Zoom-based coaching sessions, with trained health coaches. Each participant completed online questionnaire measures at the beginning and at the end of the semester. Data were analyzed using repeated-measures ANOVA.FindingsCompared with participants in the traditional-education condition, those in the coaching condition showed, over the course of the semester, significant improvement in goal attainment, solution-focused thinking, self-insight, resilience and psychopathology. Participants in the traditional-education condition showed no change in these measures.Originality/valueThe authors’ findings suggest that health coaching, as a supplement to traditional lectures, can enhance undergraduates' goal attainment and multiple facets of their mental well-being. These findings may have significant practical implications for the vast numbers of students struggling to cope in higher education systems worldwide. The authors further suggest a range of alternative, coaching-inspired interventions that do not require development of a full coaching program.

Abstract:
AimsIn the changes brought about by remote working, the local psychotherapy case discussion group (Balint Group) has developed as a remote service via video consultation. It is important to consider the effect that this change in method of delivery has had on experience.MethodAn anonymous survey was distributed to determine the benefits and challenges from participants and facilitators with at least a month of virtual Balint Group experience. The open-ended survey questions captured extended answer responses from 16 students and trainees, and 5 (co-)facilitators, within Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The qualitative feedback was analysed by thematic analysis, identifying three main themes.ResultThe first theme of practicalities was centred around access to the group. The virtual format had benefits in terms of reducing travel and time commitment and so improving attendance. However, disadvantages were in technological issues and finding a private and safe environment, individuals often not leaving the work environment on which they were reflecting. The second theme of communication identified how virtual methods are a less natural way of interacting (for example sequential point making), losing both immediacy of reactions and non-verbal communication. There was a loss of essential communication cues, with disjointed conversation affecting contribution. The third theme of group dynamics had some advantages, feeling less intimidating virtually. Yet disadvantages included loss of group cohesion, with participants not building the same relationships (on arriving and leaving a group space), and trust. The more subtle emotions in the group might be missed and opinions given less openly. The facilitators needed to be more directive and experienced difficulties maintaining group engagement and managing the frame.ConclusionThe advantages of virtual format are more based on accessibility and the disadvantages more experiential. There are elements of being physically remote that lead to a disembodied experience, that might impact on capacity to reflect emotionally. This might make it more difficult to identify unconscious processes and the experience might be more cognitive. There is a risk that virtually participants will feel more alone with difficult feelings and unsupported by the group. When mental health is being affected by social isolation due to the pandemic, having groups virtually can mimic this isolation in working life. Overall the preference remained for an in-person group. However, it was clear that access to some form of a group was important, to contain anxiety during these unprecedented times.

Abstract:
Since their appearance, digital comics have posed many challenges to the world of comic studies. Are they really comics? Should we talk about them as video games or interactive experiences? The questions are many, and they usually stumble on the – apparently – most important question: how can we define a comic? And how do we start analysing them? Scholars have multiplied paths and definitions, features and prototypes, trying to tame such a complex and ever-evolving object, with varying degrees of success. With this visual essay I will focus on – and concretely show – the aspect I believe is the most relevant: the structural relation between simultaneity and continuity, between global and local embedded in comics language. If, as Fresnault-Deruelle put it, ‘discontinuity is the basis of comics universe’, there will be necessarily some sort of continuum on which this discontinuity can emerge. Normally, this continuum is the white page itself, but with digital comics things get more complicated: the change in physical support calls for a big difference in affordances, new sensory modes make their way in, infinite spaces unfold and so on. Through an interdisciplinary approach and a dive in Peircean semiotics, I hereby suggest how the dialectic between continuity and discontinuity might be a good starting point, on a level of both formal and critical analysis, to tackle an object as chimeric as digital comics.

Abstract:
This action research discovers the learning preferences of middle school students enrolled in an advanced steel drum class in central Florida, specifically their attitudes toward the learner-centered approach while composing and learning music. Sixteen participants compare the traditional teacher-led formal instruction to student-led informal learning across three projects: composition, peer teaching, and student-led small group with the introduction of Modern Band instruments. Students are given creative freedom to choose their own friendship groups, instruments, and songs. Ease, enjoyment, and success rates are measured through questionnaires, video recording, field notes, and interviews. Student preferences toward teacher-directed and peer-directed learning change throughout the study, from student-led learning to teacher-led instruction as the tasks become more difficult. In addition, preferred learning techniques of the steel drum are found to be reading notation, listening to the music, and demonstrating how to play the instrument through kinesthetic means. Music teachers can successfully implement a more learner-centered classroom by planning lessons that are in line with student ability and background knowledge, while incrementally increasing challenges.

Abstract:
Purpose – The paper aims to address the question, “What is the impact of web-based video via webcams on virtual team trust and effectiveness?” Change and evolution in team perceptions over time are described. The result is the creation of a theoretical model describing the effect of webcams on virtual team development. Design/methodology/approach – A qualitative phenomenological heuristic case study was used to explore the individual expectations and experiences of the team members over a six-week period. To strengthen reliability and validity, two qualitative methods, content analysis and constant comparative analysis — a means of grounded theory, were used to both test the historic basis of the existing literature on trust and effectiveness in virtual teams and to explore how the use of webcams influenced the work, interactions and effectiveness of a virtual team. Both qualitative methods involved different pairs of researchers using inter-rater coefficients to address coding reliability and validity. Results from the two methods were then compared and contrasted. Findings – The resulting model highlights the importance of ongoing, formal differentiated training on new technology. This research also suggests careful management of technology change and its deployment to enhance outcomes of various organization forms. Research limitations/implications – Given the nature of the qualitative study, the findings are not generalizable, but may illumine the understanding of webcams and technology adaptation in similar virtual teams. Practical implications – The resulting model highlights the importance of ongoing, formal differentiated training on new technology. This research also suggests careful management of technology change and its deployment to enhance outcomes of various organization forms. The study incorporates Technology Acceptance Theory and applications of the Kirton Adaptation-Innovation Inventory. Originality/value – With the increase in bandwidth on the Internet, technologies such as webcams have become more viable for use in virtual teams.

Abstract:
The aim of the article is to analyze the impact of content marketing on the minds of Generation Z. This knowledge will contribute to positive product perception and purchase decisions. With an understanding of the unique characteristics, preferences, and values of Generation Z, marketers will be able to develop effective content marketing strategies that will resonate with this influential consumer segment. Traditional marketing methods that have worked well for previous generations may not resonate with Generation Z. They are constantly surrounded by advertising and have developed a natural immunity to traditional ads. This presents a challenge for marketers who must find innovative and engaging ways to capture the attention and change the mindset of Generation Z. One of the approaches that has gained considerable popularity in recent years is content marketing. Content marketing involves the creation and distribution of valuable and relevant content to attract target audiences and drive profitable customer actions. This approach is well aligned with the preferences and behavior of Generation Z, which demands personalized and meaningful interaction with brands. Analyses results. The study results showed that Generation Z is actively engaging in content marketing, and originality is a key factor in grabbing their attention and driving engagement. Video content turned out to be the most favorite format, and content marketing has a significant impact on Generation Z's purchasing decisions. The positive correlation between perceived authenticity and engagement underscores the importance of creating authentic and transparent content that aligns with Generation Z's values. Marketers should prioritize personalization and interactivity in their content marketing strategies, brands should build trust, provide relevant content, and use platforms that resonate with Generation Z's digital habits, such as YouTube and TikTok. Conclusions and directions for further research. Overall, this study contributes to the understanding of influencing the mindset of Generation Z through content marketing. By recognizing the preferences of Generation Z and emphasizing the use of engaging content formats, marketers can effectively connect with this generation and promote positive perceptions and purchase decisions. In a rapidly evolving digital environment, understanding how to effectively engage and influence Generation Z is crucial for brands looking to capture the attention and loyalty of this influential demographic. As technology continues to evolve, future research may examine the impact of new technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI) on the effectiveness of content marketing for Generation Z. Understanding how these technologies can be integrated into content strategies to create immersive and personalized experiences would be valuable for marketers.
