Abstract During the 1987 crop year a quality survey using the organic volatile meter (OVM) was conducted at six (A-E) peanut buying stations located throughout Northampton County, NC. Three different frequency distribution patterns were observed for sample headspace volatile concentration (HSVC) levels. At locations A and B about 66% of the samples analyzed had an HSVC of 8.8 mg/kg air or less. An HSVC of 8.8 mg/kg air is considered to be a volatile concentration at which peanut samples are marginally acceptable. Locations C, D, and F had about 58% of the samples with an HSVC of 8.8 mg/kg air

The material flow dynamic and velocity distribution on the melted domain surface play a crucial role on the joint quality and formation of welding defects. In this study, authors investigated the effects of the low and high currents of plasma arc welding on the material flow and thermodynamics of molten pool and its relationship to the welding defects. The high-speed video camera (HSVC) was used to observe the convection of the melted domain and welded-joint appearance. Furthermore, to consider the Marangoni force activation, the temperature on the melted domain was measured by a thermal HSVC.

ABSTRACT Herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV1 and HSV2) enter and reactivate from latency in sensory neurons, although the events governing these processes are little understood. During latency, only the latency-associated transcripts (LATs) are produced. However, although the LAT RNAs were described ≈10 years ago, their function remains ambiguous. Mutations affecting the LATs have minimal effects other than a small reduction in establishment of and reactivation from latency in some cases. Mutations in putative LAT-contained open reading frames (ORFs) have so far shown no effect. The LATs

Investigation of the n-BuOH extract of the aerial parts of Elsholtzia bodinieri led to the isolation of seven new triterpenoid saponins, Bodiniosides S–Y (1–7, resp.). Their strictures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic techniques, including HSQC, HSBC, and HSQC–TOCSY experiments, together with acid hydrolysis and GC analysis. The anti-influenza activities of compounds 1–7 were evaluated against A/WSN/33/2009 (H1N1) virus in MDCK cells. The results showed that compounds 2 and 5 exhibited moderate anti-influenza activities against A/WSN/33/2009 (H1N1), with inhibition rates of 35.33%

While acute effects are not often critical, chronic infection has been linked to vascular disease. To better understand the underlying basis for the clinical correlations, our lab has demonstrated that HSV can initiate and sustain clot formation directly on the virus surface, bypassing the normal cellular requirements. This is facilitated by anionic phospholipid and tissue factor on HSV1 and HSV2, and the participation of at least HSV1- encoded glycoprotein C (gC) in factor VIIa-de

Abstract Introduction: Multiple myeloma (MM) is the second most prevalent hematologic malignancy. Approximately, 80,000 people have died of the disease in the United States and 25,000 new cases are registered every year. Majority of patients develop resistance to current therapeutic treatments and die within 5-10 years of diagnosis. Thus, need of novel therapeutic intervention is extremely urgent. Given the ongoing and rapidly-expanding Syphilis epidemic, more accurate and timely identification of GU etiology would facilitate accurate therapeutic decision making, promote antibiotic stewardship, and have positive impacts on public health.
