The main task of modern orthodontics is to create a balanced and morphologically stable occlusion in harmony with facial aesthetics and functional adaptation. Over the last decade, there has been a clear trend towards an increase in the prevalence of malocclusion, which reaches 80% according to current scientific literature and sometimes it exceeds this percentage. Researchers note a constant and statistically significant correlation between the permanent occlusion pathology and the state of somatic health in adolescence. The link between psychopathy and crime is well-known and a large body of literature has provided empirical support. However, the stability hypothesis of psychopathy has been a critical issue, and there are only a small number of stability studies adopting a developmental perspective. To fill this gap, the current study aims to identify the developmental pathways for the comprehensive psychopathic traits scale and three dimensions across the transition from adolescence to adulthood. The majority of adolescents show stability in their psychopathic traits from adolescent to early adulthood, where

To advance the diagnostic accuracy of juvenile polyposis syndrome, an important yet often difficult diagnosis, we describe in detail a new and medically significant presentation. This hereditary and high-risk GI cancer syndrome is often associated with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, as in this 47-year-old female patient with a SMAD4 germline pathogenic mutation. Total gastrectomy revealed giant gastric folds with inflamed foveolar hyperplasia consuming most of the gastric cardia and body but sparing the antrum. Together, this gross and histologic pathology mimics Ménétrier’s disease, a

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) associated uveitis (JIA-U) is the most common extra-articular manifestation of JIA, affecting 10–15% of patients, especially in oligoarticular JIA where its course may be faint. Therefore, JIA-U is one of the most challenging pediatric uveitis, associated with major ocular morbidity and possibly leading to irreversible structural ocular damage and to vision-threatening complications. Adequate management is crucial for avoiding visual impairment complications. Since the introduction of biologic disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDS), the visual prog

Because Asians have lived with monkeys and apes, several Asian theatre traditions have long legacies of representing monkeys on stage. In Europe and North America, where non-human primates did not exist, they are not a familiar feature in performance until nineteenth-century music hall and circus and twentieth-century film and television. In some recent performances in Asia dancers and actors have expanded their understanding of monkey roles by incorporating scientific discoveries, modern movement techniques, and gl

Female body shape has an apparent influence on mate value as perceived by males. Some researchers have suggested that human male mate preference has evolved to universally favor a specific body shape which can be quantified with a particular value for Waist-Hip Ratio and/or Body Mass Index. Other research has presented evidence that populations of males exhibit differentiated preferences for female body shape. The research literature largely supports the hypothesis that male mate preference for female body shape is variable and dependent upon local resource availability. These conclusions prov

Abstract Across phyla, chemosignals are a widely used form of social communication and increasing evidence suggests that chemosensory communication is present also in humans. Chemosignals can transfer, via body odors, socially relevant information, such as specific information about identity or emotional states. However, findings on neural correlates of processing of body odors are divergent. The aims of this meta-analysis were to assess the brain areas involved in the perception of body odors (both neutral and emotional) and the specific activation patterns for the perception of neutral body
