Abstract The basic requirements for human health and life quality improvement are wholeness, variety and moderation in food choices. In industrial countries the numbers of adipose inhabitants is constantly growing. People consume insufficiently vegetables, fruits and fish. The missing nutrients must be augmented with the help of functional foodstuffs. The objective of the study was to compare the impact of food supplements and local products rich in fibre and polyunsaturated fatty acids on the human body. Human nutrition, and what can be considered “ideal” nutrition, is a complex, multi-faceted topic which many researchers and practitioners deliberate. While some attest that basic human nutrition is relatively understood, it is undeniable that a global nutritional problem persists. Many countries struggle with malnutrition or caloric deficits, while others encounter difficulties with caloric overconsumption and micronutrient deficiencies. A multitude of factors contribute to this global problem. Limitations to the current scope of the recommended daily allowances (RDAs) and dietary reference in

Unique traits of protein, fatty acids with a desirable ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 acids, and fibre as well as other specific components, for example oligosaccharides and antioxidants or non-starch carbohydrates, make white lupin an excellent component in

One of the topical social and hygienic problems that worried people at all times, starting from antiquity, was the problem of nutrition. Nutrition is the fundamental basis of human life. Its quality plays a decisive role for human health. In order to fully adapt to negative environmental factors and increase resistance, it is necessary to take care of good nutrition, which, in turn, levels out the negative impact of external factors on the body and human health. That is why the basics of human nutritional hygiene are so important and are one of the areas of preventive medicine.

This presentation deals with the relationship between malnutrition and behavior patterns. As examples on how nutrition affects human social development it presents a series of crossed indicators such as neonatal iron status and temperament and height and weight as predictors of achievement, grade repetition and dropout in rural Peru.
