Abstract:
Tourism through the Eyes of the Holy SeeThe Vatican's vision of tourism is based on Christian humanism, integral humanism and personalism. At the very core of the vision are human beings, who are not only the creators of tourism but also its ultimate goal, and for this reason all values of the natural world should be unconditionally subordinated to the good that are people. Consequently, the fundamental goal of tourism is to satisfy the needs of exploration, relaxation, entertainment and, first and foremost, the spiritual and intellectual needs of every person. Tourism has to help build a sense of community. It should also contribute to the elimination of poverty and foster the sense of responsibility for the environment. Tourism must not be exclusive to the rich and it should never be a time of depravity, promiscuity and, consequently, the degradation of people. Tourism should become an opportunity for all people to discover their contemplative dimension, giving them a chance to see God in nature and first of all, in other people.

Abstract:
The article discusses the gulf between the Christian and the secular view of man. Anthropocentric humanism is characterized by the rejection of the natural (moral) law, which has been supplanted by law positivism. So-called rights are disconnected from the moral law and from the moral duties from which they derive. As the idea of “essence” (that which gives a being its identity) is abolished, man can be redefined at will, and “the right to life” is being conceived as a relative, highly conditional right.

Abstract:
Do not be fooled by the modest, precise, and careful tone of Yomi Braester's prose. In Witness Against History, he makes a powerful contribution to the transformation of scholarship on modern Chinese culture. In recent years, scholars such as Leo Ou-fan Lee and David Der-wei Wang have argued that the focus on the May Fourth movement has been too singular, obscuring important schools and authors that do not fit that agenda. Braester takes this argument home to May Fourth culture and its inheritors in literature and film. This work has been assumed to uphold the standard of modernity as nationalism, realism, rationalism, and humanism. This makes it part of a larger reform or revolution effort to reinsert China into “history,” understood as Hegelian progress. Braester understands the shock of the modern new as trauma, and this is reflected in all the works he has chosen.

Abstract:
This article attempts to comprehensively examine the phenomenon of individualism at various levels of theory and (family) practice in Russian history in the middle and end of the 19th century through the prism of individualization as the problem. The research resulted in the discovery that approximately at the time when St. John of Kronstadt started writing his diaries as an experience of self-reflection, i.e. form the middle of the 19th century, there appeared and spread in the Russian society the “ego-documents”. The author also shows that St. John was under the influence of St. Petersburg Theological Academy lecturer and psychologist V.N. Karpov, who was one of the students of St. Innocent (Borisov) – the pioneer in his attempts to combine the modern concept of personality and Orthodox dogmatic theology. Also the intellectual tradition of St. Innocent was inherited by Bishop. John (Sokolov) and Archpriest Theodore Sidonskiy. Beyond the framework of St. Innocent “school” the author found similar theological methods of A.M. Bukharev, who placed humanism at the very center of Christianity, and of the Archimandrite Anthony (Amfiteatrov), who described his system of dogmatic theology, responding to the “challenge of modernity” associated with the introduction of the concept of “personality” in scientific and theological discourse. Also, humanism, peculiarly combined with the Christian worldview, is traced in the works of Lev Tolstoy. His ideas intersected with those of the representatives of intelligentsia in the middle of the 19th century, such as A.I. Herzen (social structure), K.D. Cavelin (psychology and law), N.I. Pirogov (pedagogy), who used individualism in different ways in their theoretical (sometimes in practical) constructions. The author also points out the changes in the Russian family that occurred in the middle and end of the 19th century. Those changes affected the transformation of the wedding ceremony, the marriage age and, attitude to women and children, marriage and birth rate, official and actual divorces. The author puts forward the thesis of the relevance of the postulate regarding the almost universal individualization in the Russian Empire in the middle and end of the 19th century, which was manifested in various ways. This study can help clarify the relationship between individualism and the concrete methods of theoretical constructions (art, theology, or any other types of scientific and cultural activities) arising from it and family practices, and thus helps to understand the nature of individualism.

Full text
Abstract:
Capitalist relations in Russia emerged and developed in the 17th — 19th centuries. These relations were superimposed on the specific features of the public consensus that was achieved in 16th century and predetermined the particularities of the national socio-economic model. The origins of this model goes back to the religious and ethical discourse of the 15th century, as well as to the understanding of the foundations and nature of Russian statehood of the 15th — 16th centuries. All these features led to the formation of certain attributes of national consciousness and had a significant impact on the nature of socio-economic institutions. The humanistic values of the Russian Middle Ages had arisen out of Orthodoxy. The collective humanism of the state and its religious and ethical mission gave a minor role to the development of individualistic principles, which, on the contrary, were of great significance in Western Europe. This article shows a set of historical and spiritual factors that have played an important role in the formation of specific national consciousness characteristics. The authors make an attempt to analyze the influence of such factors on the nature of the national socio-economic model and its development in Russia in the 16th — 19th centuries. The article proposes an original concept according to which, in the course of the historical development of Russia, the most important economic categories (property, wealth, labor, capital, economic activity) obtained not only an economic, but also a kind of ethical interpretation, that is, they can be considered both as economic concepts and as cultural and moral phenomena. The methods of identifying historical and spiritual dominant factors that influenced the formation of the Russian socio-economic model give new opportunities to study national peculiarities. These methods allow clarifying the historical and cultural institutional potential for creating an effective economic policy in Russia and other countries.
