Abstract:
Asian soybean rust, caused by Phakopsora pachyrhizi Sydow, has been known to occur in the eastern hemisphere for nearly a century. More recently, it was reported from Hawaii in 1994, eastern and southern Africa from 1996-1998, Nigeria in 2001, and Brazil and Paraguay in 2002. Aerobiological models suggested that urediniospores of the pathogen would be disseminated on wind currents to the continental United States in association with tropical storms if the disease became established north of the equator during hurricane season (U.S. Soybean Rust Detection and Aerobiological Modeling online publ

Abstract:
Abstract Wind action belongs to loads that are environmentally variable. Wind action is included in the basic combination of loads, whereas hurricane wind action is classified as a unique combination. Due to large gusts of wind, the roof coverings of large-scale buildings are exposed to detachment of their cover layer. The article presents the effects of over-normative wind, which occurred on January 19, 2018 and was named the cyclone Frederic/David. The purpose of the article is to show that in design of roof coverings made of large-format materials, such as membranes, it is crucial to accept

The Cognac field data indicate that the low-frequency force response components are not negligible and are significantly correlated to the wave envelope process. Although this is a well-known phenomenon in floating structures, it had previously not been validated from data recorded on fixed platforms. Simulation studies based on a vertical rigid cylinder subjected to Hurricane Frederic sea states show significant differences in applied low-frequency drag forces obtained using the Wheeler and Delta stretching schemes used to approximate near-surface fluid kinematics. Abstract This paper examines tropical cyclone (TC) rainfall in the eastern United States from the perspective of documenting accumulated annual water volumes and areas of the precipitation. Volume is a value that merges both rainfall depth and rainfall area into a single metric for each year that can be directly compared between individual years. Area represents the total land area affected by tropical rains. These TC rainfall metrics were then compared to the ENSO and the Atlantic multidecadal oscillation (AMO). Time series of annual TC water volumes show an annual average of 107 km3. The max

His family had lived mostly around London and many of them were musical, some earning their living as music-wire drawers, and others were schoolteachers. After graduation William became a schoolmaster and taught classics and music in Forest School, Walthamstow. Following his marriage to Lucy Binfield Newman, many of whose family had been dentists, he moved to Bridport on the south coast of Dorset and founded St Andrew’s, a small preparator
