In light of recent work on combining control-flow and dataflow architectures on the same chip die, a new architecture based on an asymmetric multicore processor is proposed. The control-flow architectures are described as a most commonly used computer architecture today. Both multicore and manycore architectures are explained, as they are based on the same principles. A dataflow computing model assumes that data input flows through hardware as either a software or hardware dataflow implementation. Abstract:
The concept of cognitive radio (CR) focuses on devices that can sense their environment, adapt configuration parameters, and learn from past behaviors. Architectures tend towards simplified decision-making algorithms inspired by human cognition. Initial works defined cognitive engines (CEs) founded on heuristics, such as genetic algorithms (GAs), and case-based reasoning (CBR) experiential learning algorithms. This hybrid architecture enables both long-term learning, faster decisions based on past experience, and capability to still adapt to new environments. This paper details an autonomous i

This paper shares ongoing research explorations into visualising and representing architecture through the limited real-estate spaces of computer screens. It proposes greater access, ‘interactivity’ and clarity in digital representations for the study, analysis and/or digital record of existing architecture by drawing on concepts and strategies – within and outside the discipline – to arrive at hybrid visualisation techniques. To illustrate some of these techniques, the paper outlines several issues in the production of hybrid media representations of the Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centr

The paper considers the intellectual computer mathematics system InparSolver, which is designed to automatically explore and solve basic classes of computational mathematics problems on multi-core computers with graphics accelerators. The problems of results reliability of solving problems with approximate input data are outlined. The features of the use of existing computer mathematics systems are analyzed, their weaknesses are found. The functionality of InparSolver, some innovative approaches to the implementation of effective solutions to problems in a hybrid architecture are described. Ex

Low cost and high efficiency, defined as energy efficiency (EE) and spectral efficiency (SE), have raised more and more attention in the fifth generation (5G) communication systems due to steadily rising hardware cost, energy consumption, and mobile traffic. This paper studies the hybrid architecture of multiuser massive MIMO systems, where the digital domain utilizes the zero-forcing (ZF) precoding scheme and the analog domain uses discrete Fourier transform (DFT) processing that significantly reduces hardware cost and energy consumption. We derive analytical expressions on the total achievab

Abstract:
This paper presents several different Neural Network based DPD architectures for hybrid beamforming (HBF) mMIMO applications. They are formulated, tested and compared based on their ability to compensate nonlinear distortion of power amplifiers in a single user (SU) and multiuser (MU) Fully-Connected (FC) HBF mMIMO transmitters. The proof-of-concept is provided with a 64 × 64 FC HBF mMIMO system, with 2 RF chains. The complexity of DPD solution is reduced by using a single Real-Valued Time-Delay Neural Network with two hidden layers (RVTDNN2L) instead of using as many different DPD blocks as t

Structural health monitoring (SHM) is a promising technique for in-service inspection of technical structures in a broad field of applications in order to reduce maintenance efforts as well as the overall structural weight. SHM is basically an inverse problem deriving physical properties such as damages or material inhomogeneity (target features) from sensor data. Often models defining the relationship between predictable features and sensors are required but not available. The main objective of this work is the investigation of model-free distributed machine learning (DML) for damage diagnost

Abstract Hybridization between species can either promote or impede adaptation. But we know very little about the genetic basis of hybrid fitness, especially in nondomesticated organisms, and when populations are facing environmental stress. We made genetically variable F2 hybrid populations from two divergent Saccharomyces yeast species. We exposed populations to ten toxins and sequenced the most resilient hybrids on low coverage using ddRADseq to investigate four aspects of their genomes: 1) hybridity, 2) interspecific heterozygosity, 3) epistasis (positive or negative associations between n
