Abstract:
Replication is an important technique in peer-to-peer environment, where it increases data availability and accessibility to users despite site or communication failure. However, determining the number of replication and where to replicate the data are the major issues. This paper proposes a hybrid replication model for fixed and mobile network in order to achieve high data availability. For the fixed network, a data will be replicated synchronously in a diagonal manner of logical grid structure, while for the mobile network, a data will be replicated asynchronously based on commonly visited sites for each user. In comparison to the previous techniques, diagonal replication technique (DRG) on fixed network requires lower communication cost for an operation, while providing higher data availability, which is preferred for large systems.

Abstract:
Unstructured peer-to-peer networks have gained a lot of popularity due to their resilience to network dynamics. The core operation in such networks is to efficiently locate resources. However, existing query schemes, for example, flooding, random walks, and interest-based shortcut suffer various problems in reducing communication overhead and in shortening response time. In this paper, we study the possible problems in the existing approaches and propose a new hybrid query scheme, which mixes inter-cluster queries and intracluster queries. Specifically, the proposed scheme works by efficiently locating the clusters, sharing similar interests with intercluster queries, and then exhaustively searching the nodes in the found clusters with intracluster queries. To facilitate the scheme, we propose a clustering algorithm to cluster nodes that share similar interests, and a labeling algorithm to explicitly capture the clusters in the underlying overlays. As demonstrated by extensive simulations, our new query scheme can improve the system performance significantly by achieving a better tradeoff among communication overhead, response time, and ability to locate more resources.

Abstract:
Assuming that video streaming is now responsible for the absolute majority of the Internet traffic and considering that the audience uses WebRTC-enabled web browsers and mobile devices to access and retrieve content, this work proposes the development of a peer-to-peer overlay network to assist the delivery of video streaming events that use HTTP-based protocols without the need to install additional software. Using the peer-to-peer network, the client/server model becomes hybrid, where network nodes that are watching the same event can retrieve portions of the video content directly from the server or neighboring nodes. This approach has two main objectives; decrease the client/server traffic and consequently the economic cost of delivery while improving the quality of the users' experience, given that communication between neighboring nodes can support the flow of better quality videos between the points

Abstract:
The goal of the article is to consider peer-to-peer lending and its interaction with bank lending that creates an aggregate hybrid lending. The article’s objective is the research of development of P2P lending on the financial market and beyond, which is particularly relevant today. This goal is achieved by using the methods of evaluation and comparative analysis of different principles, which makes it possible to structure the general scientific understanding of P2P lending with the help of statistical methods. The study of the dynamics and structure of peer-to-peer lending in various countries for the period 2005-2016 led to the conclusion that in Ukraine, there is a decline in the share of bank lending in favor of peer-to-peer lending in the total amount of loans with an increasing role of non-bank and hybrid forms of len-ding in ensuring economic growth. Keywords: peer-to-peer lending, banking institutions, credit portfolios of banks, investments, financial intermediaries, financial intermediation. JEL Classification: A1, G21, G24

Abstract:
This paper reports on a study involving the design of online peer assessment (PA) activities to support university students’ small-group project-based learning in an introductory course. The study aimed to investigate the influences of different types of PA in terms of the rubric (quantitative ratings), peer feedback (qualitative comments) and hybrid (a combination of the rubric and peer feedback) on students’ project performance, and to explore further students’ perspectives on online PA. The quantitative findings suggested that (a) students in the hybrid condition likely had better project performance than those in the peer feedback condition did, and (b) students in the rubric condition could perform equally well as those in both of the hybrid and peer feedback conditions. The qualitative findings suggested that besides types of assessment, other possible confounding variables that might affect performance included perceived learning benefits, professional assessment, acceptance, and the online PA system.
