No infrastructure, no centralized administration and self-configuration are the main characteristics of MANETs. The primary motivation of MANET deployment is to increase portability, mobility and flexibility. However, this mobility causes an unpredictable change in topology and makes routing more difficult. Convergence in networks enables carrying voice, video, and other data on the same packet-switched infrastructure, and provides various services related to these kinds of data in a unified way. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) stands out as the standard that benefits from convergence by carrying voice calls over the packet-switched infrastructur

Abstract:

Abstract:

In this thesis the possibilities of smart antenna systems in wireless mesh networks are examined. With respect to the individual smart antenna tradeoffs, a routing protocol (Modified HWMP, MHWMP) for IEEE 802.11s mesh networks is presented, that exploits the full range of benefits provided by smart antennas: MHWMP actively switches between the PHY-layer transmission/reception modes (multiplexing, beamforming and diversity) according to the wireless channel conditions. Spatial multiplexing and beamforming are used for unicast data transmissions, while antenna diversity is employed for efficient

For example, Wireless LANs are making it possible to support universal network connectivity for mobile computers. In the traditional BS-oriented wireless network, it has the characteristics of reliability and higher performance. However, the ad hoc wireless network topology is more desirable because of its low-cost, plug-and-play convenience, flexbility, and minimal human interaction requirements. Its usage of handwidth and battery power is more efficient. But
