Abstract The mechanism of the effect of an arc discharge on heavy hydrocarbon raw materials is studied in the work. The mechanism of formation of charged particles in micro-discharges with recessed electrodes is shock ionization. As a result of the interaction of hydrocarbon raw materials with an arc discharge, long hydrocarbon molecules are broken down, light hydrocarbons such as ethylene, hydrogen, and methane are formed. In the case of the organization of a micro-arc discharge, a gentle thermal regime also provides a gentle splitting of long hydrocarbon molecules, and in this case gasoline

The present work relates to the field of oil refining, petrochemical, chemical and fuel and energy industries, or more precisely to the processing of hydrocarbon raw materials. The essence is to increase the yield of light target products and increase the depth of industrial processing of raw materials. The raw material is heated by direct contact with high–boiling high–molecular fractions heated to a subcritical temperature that is lower than the start temperature of the avalanche–free uncontrolled thermal cracking, then a mixture of raw materials and high–molecular fractions to initiate a co

The paper presents experimental results of the influence of the conditions of cavitation treatment of dark petroleum products in the hydrodynamic regime on the yield of fractions boiling up to 400 °C. Straight-run products (fuel oils, vacuum gas oils), as well as catalytic cracking gas oils, were considered as raw materials. The influence of raw material characteristics (density, fractional and group hydrocarbon composition) and its processing conditions (pressure, at five cycles of exposure) on the yield of the target fraction is considered. Carbon monoxide-based synthesis is an extensive and promising branch of organic synthesis. The interest in this area is primarily due to the wide synthetic capabilities of C1 chemistry, as well as the gradual depletion of traditional sources of hydrocarbon raw materials and the rise in the cost of petroleum products. In this regard, the development of new processes based on alternative sources of raw materials is an urgent task.
