Abstract:
A novel, precise, accurate, rapid and cost effective isocratic reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatographic (RP-HPLC) method was developed, optimized and subsequently validated for the estimation of Mefenamic acid and Hyoscine-N-Butyl bromide in the bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form. Separation was achieved on Inertsil ODS-3 column (250 × 4.6 mm, 5 μm) on Agilent HPLC 1260 system using potassium phosphate buffer (5 mM, pH 3.0): acetonitrile (25:75 v/v) as mobile phase and flow rate of 1 mL/min at 210.0 nm. The method was validated according to USP category I requirements. The system

Background: Present study was carried out to compare the analgesic effect of oral diclofenac potassium versus hyoscine-N-butyl bromide (HBB) for pain relief during copper intrauterine device (IUD) insertion. Methods: It was a a randomized clinical trial carried out at Assiut University Hospital, Assiut, Egypt. Parous women eligible for Copper IUD insertion were recruited and randomized in a 1:1 ratio to diclofenac potassium or HBB. The participants were asked to take 2 tablets of the study medications 30 minutes before IUD insertion. The primary outcome was the participant's self-rated pain per

Current techniques used to investigate the mechanisms responsible for the sensory responses to distension of the human esophagus provide limited information because the degree of circumferential stretch required to determine tension can only be inferred. We used impedance planimetry to measure the cross-sectional area during esophageal distension to ascertain the degree of stretch and tension that initiated motor and sensory responses. Hyoscine- N-butyl bromide (HBB), a cholinergic muscarinic receptor blocker, was also used to alter esophageal tension during distension. Motor activity was init

Abstract:
Background and objective: Hyoscine-N-butyl bromide (HBB) and paracetamol (acetaminophen)are widely used in emergency departments for abdominal pain and cramps. However, there is not enough data on the efficacy, safety, and superiority of each other in treating acute gastroenteritis (AGE) related abdominal pain and cramps. In this study HBB and paracetamol were compared for the treatment of abdominal pain and cramps related to acute gastroenteritis. Materials and methods: The study was conducted in a tertiary university hospital emergency department as a prospective, randomized-controlled, and
