Abstract:
In the light of Baudrillard’s theory on consumption (symbol, simulation and simulacra, hyper-reality), this thesis discusses a specific point in the process of goods circulation: creating a consumption market by constructing a hyper-reality in advertisement. On the one side, consumption and consumerism are introduced. In contemporary society consumption has already become a lifestyle. Consumerism has been internalized as a kind of social logic. On the other side, modern consumption takes symbols as the presentation of consuming. Symbol value substitutes subject value. Symbol appears; subject disappears. The reality is deconstructed. Hyper-reality is constructed. Finally, hyper-realistic advertisement is the driving force of the consumer society. Advertisement constructs a kind of hyper-realistic consumption cultural, which finally is rationalized as a general collective consciousness.

Abstract:
The modified backpropagation algorithm based on the backpropagation with momentum is used for the parameters updating of a radial basis mapping (RBM) network, where it requires of the best hyper-parameters for more precise modeling. Seeking of the best hyper-parameters in a model it is not an easy task. In this article, a genetic algorithm is used to seek of the best hyper-parameters in the modified backpropagation for the parameters updating of a RBM network, and this RBM network is used for more precise electricity consumption modeling in a city. The suggested approach is called genetic algorithm with a RBM network. Additionally, since the genetic algorithm with a RBM network starts from the modified backpropagation, we compare both approaches for the electricity consumption modeling in a city.

Abstract:
This study aimed to identify the association between the risk of hyper-LDL cholesterolemia (hyper-LDLC) and fatty acid consumption patterns (FACPs) using the data from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES) prospective cohort. A total of 6542 middle-aged Korean adults were included in the analysis. Four FACPs were identified through principal component analysis of the reported intakes of 34 fatty acids (FAs): “long-chain FA pattern”; “short & medium-chain saturated fatty acid (SFA) pattern”; “n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) pattern”; and “long-chain SFA pattern”. The “long-chain SFA pattern” lowered the risk of hyper-LDLC (relative risk (RR), 0.82; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.72–0.94; p for trend, 0.004) and the “short & medium-chain SFA pattern” increased the risk of hyper-LDLC (RR, 1.17; 95% CI, 1.03–1.32; p for trend = 0.004). In sex-stratified analyses, the associations of the “long-chain SFA pattern” (RR, 0.73; 95% CI, 0.58–0.93; p for trend = 0.007) and the “short & medium-chain SFA pattern” (RR, 1.34; 95% CI, 1.07–1.69; p for trend = 0.003) with the hyper-LDLC risk were observed only in men, but not in women. These results suggest that FACPs with a high intake of long-chain SFA or a low intake of short and medium-chain SFA may protect Korean adults from hyper-LDLC.

Abstract:
Abstract This study examines how consumers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are actively employing consumer goods and services to express and forge their own unique socio-cultural identities. It seeks to address such significant issues by exploring the ways through which diverse consumers construct and present their socio-economic status. The study demonstrates how consumer practices, especially those related to luxurious commodities and affluence, function as producers of socio-cultural discourses. Methodologically, this study relies on fieldwork research that was conducted by the researcher over a period of several years (2011-2018) in the different emirates of the UAE. Qualitative methods were employed in particular. Different consumption sites—mainly mega shopping malls—were visited regularly, and various consumers belonging to different socio-economic segments of the society were interviewed. Both structured and unstructured types of interviews were conducted to collect ethnographic data. The study results show the transformation of UAE society consumption patterns from traditional consumption to hyper-consumption. During the 1960s, the UAE shifted overall into a consumer society. In fact, the results show the expansion both of the hyper-consumer, mega malls, the traditional souqs, and online internet shopping within this new hyper-consumer culture. The study also shows how the lifestyle in UAE has changed in the last few decades, as people’s shopping behaviors have shifted from the traditional marketplace to include the newer mega shopping malls and brand stores. In addition, the study shows how consumers construct and present their socio-economic status according to their class, gender, and ethnicity through their own shopping experiences.

Abstract:
Electricity consumption of metro stations increases sharply with expansion of a metro network and this has been a growing cause for concern. Based on relevant historical data from existing metro stations, this paper proposes a support vector regression (SVR) model to estimate daily electricity consumption of a newly constructed metro station. The model considers some major factors influencing the electricity consumption of metro station in terms of both the interior design scheme of a station (e.g., layout of the station and allocation of facilities) and external factors (e.g., passenger volume, air temperature and relative humidity). A genetic algorithm with five-fold cross-validation is used to optimize the hyper-parameters of the SVR model in order to improve its accuracy in estimating the electricity consumption of a metro station (ECMS). With the optimized hyper-parameters, results from case studies on the Beijing Subway showed that the estimating accuracy of the proposed SVR model could reach up to 95% and the correlation coefficient was 0.89. It was demonstrated that the proposed model could outperform the traditional methods which use a back-propagation neural network or multivariate linear regression. The method presented in this paper can be an adequate tool for estimating the ECMS and should further assist in the delivery of new, energy-efficient metro stations.

Abstract:
The subject of the research presented in the article is hyper-redundant elements and FPGA devices that can be used in highly reliable digital systems (HRDS). The current work develops hyper-reliable logic elements, memory elements, and buffer elements for HRDS based on FPGAs, their simulation, and reliability assessment. Objective: to develop fault-tolerant logical elements of LUT for one, two, and three variables. Develop fault-tolerant static random access memory, D – flip-flop, and buffer element. To do a simulation in NI Multisim to validate performance and estimate complexity and power consumption. Derive formulas for assessing the reliability of the developed elements and devices and build graphs of comparison with known methods of triple modular redundancy. Methods used the introduction of redundancy in transistor level, simulation methods in Multisim, mathematical estimations of transistor number, reliability calculations. The following results were obtained: when introducing redundancy at the transistor level and using series-parallel circuits, it is necessary to at least quadruple the number of transistors. Passive-fail-safe elements and devices have been developed that can withstand one, two, and three transistor failures (errors). An assessment of their effectiveness has been conducted, showing their preference over the majority reservation. Conclusions. The synthesis and analysis of passive-fault-tolerant circuits with an ocean of redundancy, which ensures the preservation of a logical function for a given number of failures (from one to three), have been conducted. The costs are more than to maintain functional completeness in the method previously proposed by the author, but they are worth it. Despite the significantly greater redundancy compared to majority redundancy, power consumption turned out to be lower with an insignificant increase in latency. The proposed hyper-fault-tolerant FPGAs are advisable to use in critical application systems when maintenance is impossible. In the future, it is advisable to consider the issue of redundancy at the transistor level using bridge circuits.

Abstract:
This project examines the politics of abstract desire, hyper-consumerism, and the notion of fantasy in the Asian and Chinese fashion industries. The fascination for logos is often rooted in nostalgia and is an important part of the visual landscape in popular culture. However, China’s replicas have been labeled as “imitations” or “knock-offs” by Western society. This paper focuses on abstracting the notion of hyper-consumerism and interrogating the relationship between visual advertisement, its materiality, and its representation in the global marketplace. How does advertising contribute to the production of consumer goods? Can we create a cyclical vision for new materials? How is the value of luxury created, displaced, transformed, and consumed via physical space? This project confronts the relevance of luxury and its banalization by proposing new relationships to consumption and examines the visual language of logos and their representation in society.

Abstract:
Palavras-chave: consumidor idoso; hipervulnerabilidade; sociedade do hiperconsumo. ABSTRACT Objective: The purpose of this article is to analyze the decision held by the higher Court of Justice of the State of Rio Grande do Sul in Appeal No. 70037947819, on March 22, 2011, of the 19th Civil Chamber, reported by Cour of Appeals Judge Guinther Spode. In addition to the comments on the judgment, it is intended to make theoretical notes about the vulnerability of consumers and their protection subject to the Brazilian legal system, in view of the flagrant inequality in consumer relations; the central issue is the perception of the existence or not of a relationship between the hype-vulnerability of the consumer and, in particular the elderly consumer and the phenomenon of the hyper-consumption society, as well as its possible consequences in contemporary society. Methodology: The research methods used in the present study are bibliographic and documentary. The analysis was carried out on the basis of excerpts taken from such high court decision on consumer protection. In addition to the comments on the higher court judgment, it is intended to make theoretical notes about the vulnerability of the consumer and his protection in the Brazilian legal system. Results: The performance of the markets in the context of a hyper-consumption society occurs in such a way as to always expand its dominating territory to always incite and induce consumers to consume unlimitedly. It is under this economic and commercial configuration of the way of living that the interaction takes place between the main actors of contemporary consumer society, suppliers and consumers. In such a scenario, characteristics of both agents are evident that culminate in a clear imbalance in this relationship: suppliers have a hegemonic force due to the situation of economic, factual or informational monopoly (they are the only and true holders of information about products and services) and consumers are therefore considered vulnerable. In this context, based on the higher court decison subject case, the connection between the hyper-consumption society and the hyper-vulnerability aspects of the elderly consumer haves been demonstrated, considering its position of hegemony, the market sometimes unduly prevails from the special existential conditions of these consumers, resulting in their massive exploitation and the flagrant inequality in consumer contractual relations. Contributions: The central issue regarding the perception of a relationship between the hyper-vulnerability of the consumer and, in particular, the elderly consumer, as well as the phenomenon of the hyper-consumption society and its possible consequences in contemporary society according to the social scenario to be described. It is important to clarify that this study uses, therefore, the context of a hyper-consumption society - in which there is a commercial of way of life - to analyze and highlight the condition of hyper-vulnerability of the elderly consumer and the need for differentiated legal support to this portion of the Brazilian population. Keywords: elderly consumer; hyper-vulnerability; hyper-consumption society.

Abstract:
Quercetin has been shown to have anti-obesity effects, but it is unknown whether these effects can be transmitted from mothers to their progeny. In this study, we investigated whether maternal quercetin consumption during pregnancy has a protective effect on high-fat diet–induced hyper lipid levels and overweight in progeny. Female mice consumed a control diet or a diet containing 1.0% quercetin during breeding. The male progeny were then divided into four groups that were (1) sacrificed at postnatal day 3; (2) born to dams fed the control diet and also fed the control diet (C-C), (3) born to dams fed the control diet and then fed a 30% high-fat diet (C-HF), or (4) born to dams fed the Q-diet and then fed the HF diet (Q-HF). Maternal consumption of quercetin did not affect body weight or blood lipid parameters in either dams or neonates at postnatal day 3. After 13 weeks, the Q-HF group exhibited greater body and liver weights, and higher blood cholesterol levels than the C-HF group. However, the total cholesterol/ high density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol ratios in the Q-HF and C-C groups remained similar. In conclusion, maternal quercetin consumption does not appear to protect the next generation from high-fat diet–induced hyper cholesterol level in the blood and liver, and consequently overweight, but may help regulate the total cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol ratio.

Abstract:
Helicobacter pylori infection causes the hyper-proliferation of gastric epithelial cells that leads to the development of gastric cancer. Overexpression of tumor necrosis factor receptor associated factor (TRAF) is shown in gastric cancer cells. The dietary antioxidant β-carotene has been shown to counter hyper-proliferation in H. pylori-infected gastric epithelial cells. The present study was carried out to examine the β-carotene mechanism of action. We first showed that H. pylori infection decreases cellular IκBα levels while increasing cell viability, NADPH oxidase activity, reactive oxygen species production, nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) activation, and TRAF1 and TRAF2 gene expression, as well as protein–protein interaction in gastric epithelial AGS cells. We then demonstrated that pretreatment of cells with β-carotene significantly attenuates these effects. Our findings support the proposal that β-carotene has anti-cancer activity by reducing NADPH oxidase-mediated production of ROS, NF-κB activation and NF-κB-regulated TRAF1 and TRAF2 gene expression, and hyper-proliferation in AGS cells. We suggest that the consumption of β-carotene-enriched foods could decrease the incidence of H. pylori-associated gastric disorders.

Abstract:
<p>Recent socioeconomic and technological advancements are transforming the routines of consumption into post-consumerist practices. From a socio-spatial perspective, this is primarily driven by the augmentation of two main processes: prosumption and transduction. Addressing the condition of public space in rapidly developing cities in East Asia and Australasia, this paper discusses how these two forces have contributed to a novel spatial dimension: meta-publicness. The discussion is theoretically framed by two main streams of the research on public space: the one that approaches it as the irreducible realm of agonistic pluralism and the one which sees it as crucial to socio-spatial ontogenetic processes. The major recent concept adopted in the new civic mall planning and management, experientiality, is discussed considering two main aspects: the role of eventful spectacularised environments in these hyper-mediated depoliticised spaces, and the re-politicising agency of their hyper-mediated connectedness. This paper concludes that if a democratisation of the spectacle has introduced relevant antagonistic decommodification forces, there is an internal weakness of the system that exposes these places to an even higher hegemonic dominance.</p>

Abstract:
Low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol, malondialdehyde-modified low-density lipoprotein (MDA-LDL), MDA-LDL/LDL-cholesterol in serum, and blood pressure are considered useful risk markers of cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to examine whether a fermented milk containing Streptococcus thermophilus YIT 2001 (ST), which has high anti-oxidative activity, would benefit healthy and mildly hyper-LDL-cholesterolaemic adults via a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. ST-fermented milk or non-fermented placebo milk (PC) was consumed once a day for 12 weeks by 29 and 30 subjects, respectively, with average serum LDL-cholesterol levels of about 140 mg/dl. Serum levels of LDL-cholesterol and MDA-LDL and blood pressure were analysed before (baseline) and after consumption. Comparisons of the responses between both groups were assessed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA, with the baseline value as the covariate). ANCOVA demonstrated that the ST group had significant reductions in MDA-LDL, MDA-LDL/LDL-cholesterol, systolic blood pressure (SBP), and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) compared with the PC group during the consumption period (P<0.05). Moreover, stratified analysis revealed that there were significant reductions in MDA-LDL, MDA-LDL/LDL-cholesterol, SBP, and DBP in the ST group compared with the PC group during the consumption period in subjects who had above median (65 U/l) levels of oxidative stress marker MDA-LDL at baseline (P<0.05), but not in subjects with levels below the median. These findings suggest that daily consumption of ST-fermented milk may be beneficial in healthy or mildly hyper-LDL cholesterolaemic subjects through reductions in risk marker values of oxidative stress and/or cardiovascular diseases. The benefits were particularly remarkable in subjects who had higher levels of MDA-LDL.

Abstract:
This article seeks to understand the process of market-based identity-building by looking at the life stories of female hardcore gamers. A dual theoretical framework is used: identity-building through consumption and gender via symbolic violence. Analysis of the meaning attributed to the underlying consumption practices and identity mindsets in the face of a masculine market norm reveals the following: (1) the relationship between female hardcore gamers and the gendered norm of the gaming market for hyper-players; (2) the ways in which this norm is appropriated and (3) the typical path of the female gamers concerned. The findings enable a discussion about the notion of symbolic violence driven by the market, where gender becomes an identity resource that can be manipulated through consumption practices that can lead to a certain emancipation, primarily linked to the possession of capital.

The electric energy production would be much more efficient if accurate estimations of the future demand were available, since these would allow allocating only the resources needed for the production of the right amount of energy required. With this motivation in mind, we propose a strategy, based on neuroevolution, that can be used to this aim. Our proposal uses a genetic algorithm in order to find a sub-optimal set of hyper-parameters for configuring a deep neural network, which can then be used for obtaining the forecasting. Such a strategy is justified by the observation that the performances achieved by deep neural networks are strongly dependent on the right setting of the hyper-parameters, and genetic algorithms have shown excellent search capabilities in huge search spaces. Moreover, we base our proposal on a distributed computing platform, which allows its use on a large time-series. In order to assess the performances of our approach, we have applied it to a large dataset, related to the electric energy consumption registered in Spain over almost 10 years. Experimental results confirm the validity of our proposal since it outperforms all other forecasting techniques to which it has been compared.

Abstract:
Materialistic lifestyle, along with the increase in the world’s population, is leading to unlimited hyper-consumption due to raising the global demand for services and goods. Marketing strategies can be acclimatized to offer more viably to the vital segment of buyers by engaging e-mavens, their antecedents of big five personality traits, frugality, and sustainable consumption behavior are needed to comprehend. The study assessed the novel endeavor to exhibit a potential relationship among the big five, e-mavenism, frugality, and sustainable consumption behavior in social networking sites. This body of knowledge adds to comprehend sustainable consumption behavior and fills many gaps by using data from a sample (n = 387) of social networking sites users from China. Causal modeling technique (SEM) is affianced to evaluate the study hypotheses. The data from an online survey disclose a positive association of agreeableness, conscientiousness, extraversion, neuroticism, and openness to experience with e-mavenism. The results affirm that e-mavenism is positively correlated with frugality. Moreover, frugality is vital in the growth of sustainable consumption behavior as well. Eventually, e-mavenism positively influences sustainable consumption behavior. These results enhance understanding of sustainable consumption behavior and provide an opportunity that marketing managers may apply these constructs into their strategies to achieve competitive advantage.

Abstract:
AbstractThis paper introduces liquid consumer utopias, defined as market-mediated expressions of individuals’ desires to re-imagine and re-construct reality, and to re-frame the present. This conceptual lens illuminates previously untheorized consumption phenomena, which are socially constructed, and often critical, efforts to enact an alternative way of being in an increasingly uncertain and unpredictable world. Three key characteristics of liquid utopias are outlined—immediacy, transience and hyper-individualization––each pointing to liquid consumer utopias’ function to facilitate present-oriented and short-lived re-imaginings of reality. Co-existing alongside the solid and collective utopian consumption of interest to prior research, these emergent forms of liquid consumer utopias articulate a re-imagining of the present (rather than the future), have an emphasis on individual (rather than communal) experiences of betterment, and an orientation toward temporary re-framings of the experienced reality (rather than a pursuit of permanence and long-lasting change). Implications are discussed for retailing, experiential consumption, and consumer self-optimization.

Abstract:
Overconsumption of resources and consumer items is an important driver for environmental degradation and climate change. Malls, shopping, and conspicuous consumption are deeply ingrained in the local values and the global image of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UAE has a diverse and international population with over 85% expats and numerous opportunities to reduce environmental impact. Increased participation in a circular economy that aims to reduce resource use by recycling materials, reusing products, extending their lifespan, and maintaining their economic value would be an effective strategy to reduce negative environmental impacts. However, little is known about how much and why UAE citizens and residents participate in the circular economy. Therefore, it is important to examine the factors that predict participation in the circular economy in the UAE. To investigate this question, we surveyed n=163 undergraduate students at an American-curriculum university in the UAE and explored literature-based explanations as predictors for participation in the circular economy, namely gender, nationality, exposure to circular economy initiatives, efforts to reduce ecological footprints, and sustainable consumer behaviors using index-based negative binomial regression models. We also compare differences in ways and levels of participation in the circular economy between UAE citizens and residents with t-tests. Our results suggest that participation in the circular economy does not emerge from concerted efforts to reduce environmental degradation such as lowering ecological footprint and reducing waste, but rather investments in sustainable and durable items. Emirati citizens are more likely to participate in the circular economy, in particular repairing items, than expat residents. These differences are most likely to be explained by the more stable lifestyles of Emirati citizens as opposed to the more itinerant lifestyles of expat residents. Keywords: sustainability, circular economy, consumption, Middle East, ecological footprint, recycling.

Abstract:
The fish feed used in aquaculture systems has many nutritional factors like protein, fat, fiber, ash, and humidity; from these factors, one of great importance is protein. The protein of fish feed is obtained from fish meal, and the demand for fish meal has increased; this induces to increase the price. Many pieces of research have been done about this topic to mitigate this problem. This research shows the differences between three commercial foods of the different processes with the same quantity of protein, using tilapia Oreochromis niloticus, to prove any difference between NO2-, NO3-, and NH4+. Nitrogen compounds were determined with HACH methods for the DR6000 spectrophotometer. Biometric data were registered throughout the growth of fish, along with measure aerobic metabolism. Results have shown that has better outcomes related to low excretion of nitrogen compound was medium-cost fish feed (MCFF). It also has sound effects associated with the length-weight relationship; that could be connected to these fish feed's protein sources.

Abstract:
Swarm intelligence techniques with incredible success rates are broadly used for various irregular and interdisciplinary topics. However, their impact on ensemble models is considerably unexplored. This study proposes an optimized-ensemble model integrated for smart home energy consumption management based on ensemble learning and particle swarm optimization (PSO). The proposed model exploits PSO in two distinct ways; first, PSO-based feature selection is performed to select the essential features from the raw dataset. Secondly, with larger datasets and comprehensive range problems, it can become a cumbersome task to tune hyper-parameters in a trial-and-error manner manually. Therefore, PSO was used as an optimization technique to fine-tune hyper-parameters of the selected ensemble model. A hybrid ensemble model is built by using combinations of five different baseline models. Hyper-parameters of each combination model were optimized using PSO followed by training on different random samples. We compared our proposed model with our previously proposed ANN-PSO model and a few other state-of-the-art models. The results show that optimized-ensemble learning models outperform individual models and the ANN-PSO model by minimizing RMSE to 6.05 from 9.63 and increasing the prediction accuracy by 95.6%. Moreover, our results show that random sampling can help improve prediction results compared to the ANN-PSO model from 92.3% to around 96%.

Abstract:
Since resource consumption is the main reason for software aging occurrences, many methods have been applied to accurately predict the resource consumption series. Among these methods, neural networks are powerfully applied to forecast the series data. For some existing problems of artificial neural networks such as the choice of initialization and local optimization, the improvements of neural networks are not only a hot research topic in the field of time series prediction but also a research hotspot in resource consumption prediction of software aging. In this paper, we propose a method for resource consumption prediction of software aging using deep belief nets (DBNs) with the restricted Boltzmann machine (RBM). This presented method contains the following steps. First, a pre-processing is introduced by two parts: smoothing data by a self-organizing map (SOM) and removing a linear trend by a difference method. Second, a method, DBN with two RBMs, is presented to capture the features and forecast future values. Third, a glowworm swarm optimization (GSO) method is used to learn the hyper-parameters of DBN with two RBMs. In the experiments, two types of resource consumption series are used to validate our proposed method compared with some state-of-the-art algorithms.

Abstract:
Main advantage of redundant space manipulator is that it can be configured differently by actuating various joints. Space manipulators are designed to be deployed in harsh surroundings, which in turn would increase the possibility of manipulator failure. Thus, the enhancement of the capabilities of the robots and the failures thereafter are a major concern. This article presents three aspects of hyper-redundant space robot. First, the control strategies based on minimum power criterion with all healthy joints are proposed. Second, hyper-redundancy is put upon to reconfigure the space robot with the failure of locked joints. Third, the optimization of workplace trajectory of the manipulator is obtained by genetic algorithm and a minimum power criterion has been adopted in all three cases. The bond-graph technique is employed for robot modeling with the use of SYMBOLS Shakti software, which generates system equations in C++ code. This code is subsequently converted into a MATLAB program. The result obtained through simulation shows that 37% of the total power consumption was reduced by the actuators through an optimization approach.

Abstract:
The television environment has suffered an authentic digital revolution in recent years, covered by a wide range of media and platforms, and the ease of connection and exchange of audiovisual content between them. This change has encouraged television consumption has also evolved towards hyper-fragmentation of the audience, worthy of study. In this context, the main company in charge of audience measurement of linear television in Spain has decided to go a step further towards a cross-media measurement; using traditional methods, changing them to digital ones. But the great process of digitization pushes us to make a measurement of the audience much more complete than what is being considered in the audiovisual sector; In this way, in the present investigation, a total hybrid measurement of the audiovisual contents that are issued in the different platforms is proposed. Noting, at the same time, the need for the creation of an organization that ensures the veracity of the data that can be obtained, and for the privacy and rights of the users. Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to highlight the role of consumption communities as a self-help support group to ameliorate loneliness. The authors suggest that the self-help element of consumption communities has been overlooked because of a focus on communities pursuing hegemonic masculinity. Instead, the authors focus on a female-led and – dominated consumption community. Design/methodology/approach A longitudinal ethnography was undertaken with the aim of understanding consumer behaviour in a “hyper-feminine” environment. Participant observation, depth interviews and netnography were carried out over five years within the Knitting community, focussing on an Irish Stitch ‘n’ Bitch group. Findings A dimension of consumption communities has been overlooked in the extant literature; this female-led and -dominated community functions as a self-help support group used as a “treatment” for loneliness. It also demonstrates all the characteristics of a support group. Research limitations/implications This study offers a framework with which new studies of community consumption can be examined or existing studies can be re-examined, through rather than cases of loneliness and self-help support groups. Practical implications Marketers have an opportunity to build supportive consumption communities that provide a safe space for support where commerce and brand-building can also occur. Groups aimed at ameliorating loneliness may wish to consider integration of the consumption community model. Originality/value Calls have been made for a reconceptualisation of consumption communities as current typologies seem inadequate. This paper responds with a critical examination through the lens of the self-help support group, while also taking steps towards resolving the gender imbalance in the consumption community literature. The paper explores loneliness, a previously underexamined motivator for consumption community membership.

Abstract:
This article extends our knowledge of scientific marketing management and the reasons behind the emergence of the marketing concept. In our narrative, the banking community plays an important role in promoting marketing in the early 20th century. We illuminate this argument using the writings of Fred W. Shibley (1864–1944) and the theoretical resources of Michel Foucault. For Shibley, marketing advanced the interests of corporate financiers, shareholders and employees. Their profit focus was enabled through the marketing concept and accounting practices that mediated hyper- and disciplinary power. In this discourse, organizational relations reflected a pyramidal management of information through a ‘principle of omnivisibility’. These processes individualized departments and affected all employees. Importantly, these control mechanisms were seeded through ‘displacement’. This discursive move reveals a new dimension underwriting the promotion of the marketing concept and the pursuit of profit. These ‘progressive’ facets of marketing theory and practice were invoked to redirect employee attention away from their fractious relationships with management and the owners of capital. Redirecting employee focus was attempted by positioning the consumer as the ‘boss’, with increased production and consumption framed as ‘unpolitical socialism’. While the marketing management literature depicts the marketing concept in quasi-humanistic terms, we unearth the roles of hyper- and disciplinary power, combined with a status-quo orientation that underwrote its promotion in this formative period.

Abstract:
Background: Ultra-processed foods are industrial formulations made from food extracts or constituents with little or no intact food and often containing additives that confer hyper-palatability. The consumption of these products increases the risk of chronic non-communicable diseases. Stressed people may engage in unhealthy eating as a way to cope. This study aimed to verify whether ultra-processed food consumption was associated with perceived stress levels in industrial and retail workers from Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study carried out between July 2017 and August 2018. During the study period, 1270 participants completed a survey administered by an interviewer. Stress levels were assessed using the Perceived Stress Scale. Information regarding weekly ultra-processed food consumption was collected. Ultra-processed foods were classified into four groups: sugary drinks; sugary foods; fast foods; and canned foods, frozen foods, or processed meat. The Student’s t-test or one-way analysis of variance was used to assess the differences in stress levels and ultra-processed food consumption. Ordinal regression was used to determine the association between the degrees of stress and ultra-processed food consumption levels. Results: Factors such as a young age, being unmarried, smoking, high-risk alcohol consumption, negative health perception, and high perceived stress level indicated higher rates of ultra-processed food consumption. Ordinal regression analysis showed that high stress levels were associated with increased odds of higher ultra-processed food consumption (odds ratio: 1.94; 95% CI: 1.54–2.45). Conclusions: These findings could help identify appropriate target areas for interventions aimed at mental health promotion and healthier food consumption.

Abstract Objectives Examine the impact of a multiple-goal (MG) vs single-goal (SG) lifestyle interventions on gestational diet quality and hyper-palatable food consumption. Methods Pregnant women were randomized in two pilot trials to MG (n = 21) or SG (n = 16) vs usual care (UC; combined trials, n = 18). The 18-week MG intervention included lifestyle modifications, and the 12-week SG intervention focused only on increasing fiber (≥30 g/day). Interventions included weekly instruction by a registered dietitian, and primary aims were appropriate weight gain. Diet recalls were performed at baseline and study end. Diet quality was scored with three versions of the alternative healthy eating index, including adaptations for pregnancy (AHEI 2010, AHEI-P, and AHEI-P 2010). Foods were classified as hyper-palatable based on fat, carbohydrate, sugar, and sodium content using previously defined criteria, and reported as percentage of total calories (%HPF). One-way ANOVA, paired t-tests, and Pearson's correlations were performed. Results At baseline, no between group differences for diet quality were found. By the end of the study, all diet quality scores increased for SG (P &lt; 0.009) and two increased for MG (AHEI 2010 & AHEI-P-2010, P &lt; 0.041). UC diet quality remained unchanged (P &gt; 0.05). At baseline, %HPF was different between groups (MG &gt; UC &gt; SG, 82%, 57%, and 26%, respectively; P &lt; 0.001). By study end, UC and SG increased %HPF (P &lt; 0.033), while MG remained unchanged (P &gt; 0.05), leaving MG and SG similar in %HPF (80% & 74%, respectively) and higher than UC (65%, P = 0.024). The %HPF was negatively correlated with all diet quality scores at baseline (r = −0.37 to −0.42; P &lt; 0.005) and two at the end of study (AHEI 2010 & AHEI-P 2010 r = −0.39, −0.30, respectively, P &lt; 0.040). Changes in diet quality and %HPF were not related (P &gt; 0.05). Conclusions Interventions aimed to prevent excessive gestational weight gain showed improvements in diet quality. Hyper-palatable food consumption was negatively related to diet quality, yet neither intervention decreased %HPF. Focusing on increasing dietary fiber may allow for a targeted message with broad implications for diet quality, but more research is needed. Abstract:
Embedded devices are gaining popularity day by day due to the expanded use of Internet of Things applications. However, these embedded devices have limited capabilities concerning power and memory. Thus, the applications need to be tailored in such a way to perform the specified tasks within the constrained resources with the same accuracy. In Real-Time task scheduling, one of the challenging factors is the intelligent modelling of input tasks in such a way that it produces not only logically correct output within the deadline but also consumes minimum CPU power. Algorithms like Rate Monotonic and Earliest Deadline First compute hyper-period of input tasks for periodic repetition of the same set of tasks on CPU. However, at times when the tasks are not adequately modelled, they lead to an enormously high value of hyper-period which result in more CPU cycles and power consumption. Many state-of-the-art solutions are presented in this regard, but the main problem is that they limit tasks from having all possible period values; however, with the vision of Industry 4.0, where most of the tasks will be doing some critical manufacturing activities, it is highly discouraged to prevent them of a certain period. In this paper, we present a resource-aware approach to minimise the hyper-period of input tasks based on device profiles and allows tasks of every possible period value to admit. The proposed work is compared with similar existing techniques, and results indicate significant improvements regarding power consumptions.

IntroductionHyper-sexuality is an increased sexual activity that causes stress the individual at social levels. There are studies that support the theory that neurophysiological abnormalities of individuals appear in this disorder and do not overlap with the alterations found in substance addictions. However, it is doubtful whether addiction to other substances can trigger behavior in the sexual sphere.ObjectiveTo report a case of abuse of alcohol as a trigger relapse in terms of sexual alterations in a patient diagnosed with alcohol abuse, stimulants dependence and hyper-sexuality.Case descriptionHere we report a married gentleman in the fourth decade of his life that presents behavior and sexual activity level compatible with a case of hyper-sexuality. After conducting motivational interviews with the psychologist to aim a sustained abstinence of amphetamines and a lack of alterations on the sexual sphere, the patient achieved clinical stability over several years. However, it is referred for psychiatric consultation as he presented recently abusive alcohol consumption associated with Speed. He relapsed in the sexual sphere by increasing sexual desire and impulsiveness. It was decided to prescribe oral nalmefene (1 tablet daily) for two months and then stop treatment regularly (taken PRN in case of high risk situations). As a result, he has had sustained remission for over 6 months.ConclusionAlthough, there are studies suggesting that neurobiological changes among the pathologies described are different, the treatment of alcohol abuse can be beneficial in other diseases such as hyper-sexuality as disinhibition associated with alcohol intoxication.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract:
The effects of airway inflammation on airway smooth muscle (ASM) are mediated by pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα). In this review article, we will provide a unifying hypothesis for a homeostatic response to airway inflammation that mitigates oxidative stress and thereby provides resilience to ASM. Previous studies have shown that acute exposure to TNFα increases ASM force generation in response to muscarinic stimulation (hyper-reactivity) resulting in increased ATP consumption and increased tension cost. To meet this increased energetic demand, mitochondrial O2 consumption and oxidative phosphorylation increases but at the cost of increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) production (oxidative stress). TNFα-induced oxidative stress results in the accumulation of unfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and mitochondria of ASM. In the ER, TNFα selectively phosphorylates inositol-requiring enzyme 1 alpha (pIRE1α) triggering downstream splicing of the transcription factor X-box binding protein 1 (XBP1s); thus, activating the pIRE1α/XBP1s ER stress pathway. Protein unfolding in mitochondria also triggers an unfolded protein response (mtUPR). In our conceptual framework, we hypothesize that activation of these pathways is homeostatically directed towards mitochondrial remodeling via an increase in peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma coactivator 1 alpha (PGC1α) expression, which in turn triggers: (1) mitochondrial fragmentation (increased dynamin-related protein-1 (Drp1) and reduced mitofusin-2 (Mfn2) expression) and mitophagy (activation of the Phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN)-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1)/Parkin mitophagy pathway) to improve mitochondrial quality; (2) reduced Mfn2 also results in a disruption of mitochondrial tethering to the ER and reduced mitochondrial Ca2+ influx; and (3) mitochondrial biogenesis and increased mitochondrial volume density. The homeostatic remodeling of mitochondria results in more efficient O2 consumption and oxidative phosphorylation and reduced ROS formation by individual mitochondrion, while still meeting the increased ATP demand. Thus, the energetic load of hyper-reactivity is shared across the mitochondrial pool within ASM cells.

Abstract:
Abstract Glioblastoma (GBM) remains among the deadliest of human malignancies. Effective disease management is lacking due in part to the emergence of the cancer stem cell (CSC) phenotype. The tumor cell extrinsic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that result in CSC enrichment are not well understood. Alongside other pathological features, the CSC state endows populations of tumor cells with a fluid metabolic profile that enables utilization of multiple nutrition sources. Therefore, to test the impact of diet on CSC enrichment, we interrogated disease progression in tumor-bearing mice fed either a high-fat diet (HFD), similar to the Western Pattern diet or a control low-fat diet. Compared to controls, HFD-consumption resulted in the presentation of a hyper-aggressive disease phenotype with truncated survival and tumors markedly enriched in tumor-initiating SOX2+ CSCs. To understand the underlying mechanism driving this finding, we examined tumors for the diet-regulated metabolite hydrogen sulfide (H2S). H2S is an endogenously produced bio-active gasotransmitter similar to nitric oxide. It functions principally through protein S-sulfhydration to regulate a variety of cellular programs including mitochondrial function, stress signaling and metabolism. While there is exceedingly limited information on H2S and GBM, its HFD-driven suppression has been reported in other organ systems. We discovered a significant reduction in H2S synthesis resulting from HFD-consumption in the brain of the mouse and a striking decrease in protein S-sulfhydration in human GBM tumor tissue when compared to non-cancerous control brain tissue. We demonstrated that chemical inhibition of H2S synthesis resulted in increased tumor cell viability whereas exposure to chemical H2S donors led to pronounced cell death of cultured mouse and human GBM cells. These data demonstrate for the first time, that H2S serves as a tumor suppressor for GBM. Moreover, the diet-driven suppression of H2S helps explain the hyper-aggressive in vivo phenotype that presents in response to HFD-consumption.

In order to solve this problem, we construct a biobjective model for the RLCLRP with minimum total cost consisting of depot, vehicle rental, fuel consumption, carbon emission costs, and vehicle waiting time. This paper further proposes a novel hyper-heuristic (HH) method to tackle the biobjective model. The presented method applies a quantum-based approach as a high-level selection strategy and the great deluge, late acceptance, and environmental selection as the acceptance criteria. We examine the superior efficiency of the proposed approach and model by conducting numerical experiments using different instances. Additionally, several managerial insights are provided for logistics enterprises to plan and design a distribution network by extensively analyzing the effects of various domain parameters such as depot cost and location, client distribution, and fleet composition on key performance indicators including fuel consumption, carbon emissions, logistics costs, and travel distance and time.

Abstract:
In the Indian society, gender roles have played an important role in shaping the culture. However, due to technological advancements and change in societal needs, there is an evolution in the gender roles. This evolution has created a need to understand the gendered products from a new perspective. Therefore, this paper tries to discover the factors of consumption of gendered products and role of social media in shaping the consumption pattern and motivation of women in biking industry in India. Subsequently, to address the objectives, qualitative methods such as in-depth interviews, netnography and projective techniques are applied and data is analyzed further. With the help of data analysis, it has been found that that Indian woman is motivated by a quest for freedom, independence and empowerment. The families and close-knit communities that they are part of, such as Bikerni Association of India, help them participate in a hyper-masculine product market.

Abstract:
According to the problem that the existing data interpolation algorithm has low efficiency when handling high-speed data, this paper proposes a FPGA-based FIR sine interpolation algorithm based on pipeline and parallel technology. The algorithm not only reduces the critical path so that improve the system working clock effectively, but also increases the speed of data processing to improve the speed of interpolation process significantly. Finally, according to the experiment based on FPGA, the result shows that the proposed algorithm improves the speed of data interpolation process, and reduces the system power consumption effectively. It can realize the real-time interpolation process of high-speed or hyper-speed data stream.

Abstract:
Future focus is one of the eight principles of the New Zealand curriculum. However, the term is sometimes conflated with the more-expansive term 21st-century learning, which, this article argues, accepts uncritically dominant assumptions that New Zealand’s future is as part of a hyper-globalised, fast-paced, capitalist world. This article insists on future focus as a means of developing the curriculum to support pupils as they learn to think critically about globalisation, sustainability, enterprise, and citizenship. Using the example of scenario-building in the context of carbon-based economies and high-consumption lifestyles we emphasise that futures education requires important skills of study, analysis, creation, imagination, and interpretation.

Abstract:
Energy consumption issues are important factors concerning the achievement of sustainable social development and also have a significant impact on energy security, particularly for China whose energy structure is experiencing a transformation. Construction of an accurate and reliable prediction model for the volatility changes in energy consumption can provide valuable reference information for policy makers of the government and for the energy industry. In view of this, a novel improved model is developed in this article by integrating the modified state transition algorithm (MSTA) with the Gaussian processes regression (GPR) approach for non-fossil energy consumption predictions for China at the end of the 13th Five-Year Project, in which the MSTA is utilized for effective optimization of hyper-parameters in GPR. Aiming for validating the superiority of MSTA, several comparisons are conducted on two well-known functions and the optimization results show the effectiveness of modification in the state transition algorithm (STA). Then, based on the latest statistical renewable energy consumption data, the MSTA-GPR model is utilized to generate consumption predictions for overall renewable energy and each single renewable energy source, including hydropower, wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and other energies, respectively. The forecasting results reveal that the proposed improved GPR can promote the forecasting ability of basic GPR and obtain the best prediction effect among all the other comparison models. Finally, combined with the forecasting results, the trend of each renewable energy source is analyzed.

Abstract:
Obesity has been linked with several comorbidities like cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, and hypertension. Weight reduction is directly associated with the consumption of green tea. So, with this premise of background, we evaluated the potential of green tea consumption on obesity and serum lipid profiles in both normo- and hyper-cholesterol emic rabbits. Sixty New Zealand white rabbits (age: 6-8 months; weight 1.5-2 kg) were used for this experiment. Rabbits were randomized and equally divided into three different groups. Group I (control group) received 10 ml/kg of distilled water twice daily, Group II received high cholesterol diet twice daily, and Group III received high cholesterol diet along with green tea solution 10 ml/kg, twice daily for 90 days. Weight measurements and serum analysis were conducted on Day 0 and day 90. For the obtained data, SPSS analysis was performed (SPSS 21). A significant increment of body weight was observed in control (1.97 ± 0.12 vs 2.87 ± 0.21, p<0.0001) and high cholesterol groups (1.91 ± 0.23 vs 3.13 ± 0.31, p<0.0001) at Day 90 when compared with Day 0. Though the results were not significant, there was a reduction in the body weight in the green tea group (2.20 ± 1.47 vs 1.72 ± 0.22) at Day 90 when compared with Day 0. Consumption of green tea for 90 days resulted in weight loss and inhibition of the increase in the levels of TC, LDL, and VLDL. So, green tea can act as a natural food supplement for the management of obesity and dyslipidemia.

Abstract:
One of the causes of stroke is atherosclerosis. The incidence of occurrence ischemic stroke caused by atherosclerosis is 95%. Atherosclerosis is caused by oxidative stress in the endothelium due to the formation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). Hyperlipidemia (hyper LDL) is one of the risk factors of elevated ROS. One of the enzymes that play a role in preventing the formation of ROS is superoxide dismutase (SOD). Coffee has a powerful antioxidant in which one of its active ingredients is chlorogenic acid that capable to inhibiting ROS formation. Fifteen wistar male divided into 3 groups. Group I (Control) were given standard fed, Group II (Hyperlipidemia) were given standart fed and hyperlipid diet, Group III (Coffee) were given standart fed and hyperlipid diet + coffee consumption. Treatment were done everyday for 30 days. Blood serum in each group was taken on day 30 and examined by ELISA superoxide dismutase (SOD). The results showed that superoxide dismutase levels in coffee group was significantly higher than hyperlipidemia group (p = 0,006). This study proves that coffee consumption can increase the production of superoxide dismutase enzyme. Keywords: atherosclerosis; coffee; hyperlipid; SOD
