Abstract:
The genus Stipa L. comprises over 150 species, all native to the Old World, where they grow in warm temperate regions throughout Europe, Asia, and North Africa. It is one of the largest genera in the family Poaceae in Middle Asia, where one of its diversity hotspots is located. However, identification of Middle Asian Stipa species is difficult because of the lack of new, comprehensive taxonomic studies including all of the species recorded in the region. We present a critical review of the Mid-Asian representatives of Stipa, together with an identification key and taxonomic listing. We relied on both published and unpublished information for the taxa involved, many of which are poorly known. For each taxon, we present a taxonomic and nomenclatural overview, habitat preferences, distribution, altitudinal range, and additional notes as deemed appropriate. We describe four new nothospecies: S. ×balkanabatica M. Nobis & P. D. Gudkova, S. ×dzungarica M. Nobis, S. ×pseudomacroglossa M. Nobis, S. ×subdrobovii M. Nobis & A. Nowak, one subspecies S. caucasica Schmalh. subsp. nikolai M. Nobis, A. Nobis & A. Nowak, and eight varieties: S. araxensis Grossh. var. mikojanovica M. Nobis, S. caucasica var. fanica M. Nobis, P. D. Gudkova & A. Nowak, S. drobovii (Tzvelev) Czerep. var. jarmica M. Nobis, S. drobovii var. persicorum M. Nobis, S. glareosa P. A. Smirn. var. nemegetica M. Nobis, S. kirghisorum P. A. Smirn. var. balkhashensis M. Nobis & P. D. Gudkova, S. richteriana Kar. & Kir. var. hirtifolia M. Nobis & A. Nowak, and S. ×subdrobovii var. pubescens M. Nobis & A. Nowak. Additionally, 12 new combinations, Achnatherum haussknechtii (Boiss.) M. Nobis, A. mandavillei (Freitag) M. Nobis, A. parviflorum (Desf.) M. Nobis, Neotrinia chitralensis (Bor) M. Nobis, S. badachschanica Roshev. var. pamirica (Roshev.) M. Nobis, S. borysthenica Klokov ex Prokudin var. anomala (P. A. Smirn.) M. Nobis, S. holosericea Trin. var. transcaucasica (Grossh.) M. Nobis, S. richteriana var. jagnobica (Ovcz. & Czukav.) M. Nobis & A. Nowak, and S. zalesskii Wilensky var. turcomanica (P. A. Smirn.) M. Nobis are proposed, and the lectotypes for 14 taxa (S. arabica Trin. & Rupr., S. bungeana Trin. ex Bunge, S. caspia K. Koch, S. ×consanguinea Trin. & Rupr., S. effusa Mez, S. ×heptapotamica Golosk., S. jacquemontii Jaub. & Spach., S. kungeica Golosk., S. margelanica P. A. Smirn., S. richteriana, S. rubentiformis P. A. Smirn., S. sareptana A. K. Becker, S. tibetica Mez, and Timouria saposhnikovii Roshev.) are designated. In Middle Asia the genus Stipa comprises 98 taxa, including 72 species, four subspecies, and 22 varieties. Of the 72 species of feather grasses, 23 are of hybrid origin (nothospecies). In Middle Asia, feather grasses can be found at elevations from (0 to)300 to 4500(to 5000) m, but most are montane species. The greatest species richness is observed at altitudes between 1000 and 2500 m. Nineteen species grow above 3000 m, but only nine above 4000 m. The number of taxa (species and subspecies) growing in each country also varies considerably, with the highest noted in Kazakhstan (42), Tajikistan (40), and Kyrgyzstan (35). Of the 76 taxa of Stipa (species and subspecies) recorded in Middle Asia, 41 are confined to the region, with some being known only from a single country or mountain range. Distribution maps of selected species are provided.

Abstract:
<p>The genus Stipa in the Altai territory is represented by 12 species (Lomonosova, 2003, Silanteva, 2013, Gudkova et al., 2015). Stipacapillata L., which belongs to the Leiostipa Dumor. section, is one of the most widespread species of this genus. Besides S. capillata, two more species of this section – S. praecapillata Alech. and S. Baicalensis Roshev. occur on the territory of the region. However, they both have a very limited distribution: the first is represented by single finds in Klyuchevsky, Kuryinsky, Pospelikhinsky and Rubtsovsky districts of Altay, and the latter one occurs only in Charyshsky district. Thus, in the territory of the region there is a unique opportunity to study the population variability of S. capillata, as in other regions it often grows together with closely related species and hybridizes with them (in the west with S. sareptana A. Beck., and S. praecapillata Alech., and in the south and east - with S. grandis P. Smirn, S. krylovii Roshev and S. baicalensis.<br />The problem of the volume and boundaries of S. capillata L. is caused by its wide distribution from Spain to Yakutia and high polymorphism. Many authors accepted the different limits of variability in the characteristics of S. capillata, which makes it difficult to define this taxon, for instance, in almost all the floristic revisions the authors suggest, that the node of generative shoot is hidden by the leaf sheathes because of the leaf sheath is longer than the internode, and only N.N. Tsvelev (Tzvelev, 1976) and H. Freitag (Freitag, 1985) admit that a node within this species can be exposed. The purpose of our study was to research the population variability of S. capillata on the territory of the Altai in order to specify the limits of its features variation. 242 individuals of S. capillata belonging to 11 populations were involved in the analysis. The paper presents the result of statistical analysis by 26 quantitative and 2 qualitative features. A description of the lemma ultrastructure is also given. On the basis of the analysis, a refined morphological description of the species is given and the limits of variability of characteristics are indicated. It has also been established that some individuals with trichomes up to 0.15 mm on the tip of lemma, as well as individuals with closed nodes can be found within S. capillata species. It rejects the morphological pattern, accepted for S. capillata earlier. Despite the significant broadening of the boundaries of the variability of the signs, morphological differentiation was not revealed. All objects included in the analysis form a single cluster and belong to one general population. Also, the article provides information on the ecologo-cenotic association and distribution of this species based on the revision of herbarium collections stored in AA, BM, E, GAT, K, KAS, KRA, KUZ, LE, M, MW, MHA, TK, NS, NSK, UPS.</p>

Abstract:
Each species besides of having the unique morphological pattern also has an unique ecologo-climatic niche and geographical range. The study of ecologico-climatic and geographic divergence can make significant contribution to understanding of the species genesis and its volume. The purpose of this paper was to compare the ecologo-climatic niches of the closely related species Stipa sareptana and S. krylovii in order to reveal their identity. The research allowed specifying the areas of both species. Using GIS methods and based on the points of presence and six independent bioclimatic characters, their potential ranges – areas where the climatic conditions are favorable for growth – were identified and ecologo-climatic niches revealed. It was established that the most important factors determining the distribution of S. krylovii and S. sareptana are the mean annual temperature and seasonality of precipitation. Other factors play a subordinate role. The comparison of ecological niches, generated by MaxEnt, showed their differences at a statistically significant level.

Abstract:
Mathematical methods of analysis of the spatial and ontogenetic structure of rare plant species cenopopulations allow us to reveal organization features of individual plant populations and phytocenoses as a whole. The authors study the features of the Stipa korshinskyi Roshev. (Poaceae) population structure in the Samara High Trans-Volga Region (Sernovodny Shihan, Sergievsky District, Samara Region). Spatial location and age conditions of individuals are determined according to traditional population-ontogenetic methods. The characteristics of the distribution of individuals of S. korshinskyi , taking into account their age, are determined using modern mathematical methods. With the help of the nuclear function, it was revealed that the density of the feather grass individuals in the described cenopopulation varied in the range of 1-3 individuals per 1 m. Analysis of S. korshinskyi individuals location intensity in coenopulation using the square method showed the presence of compacted and rarefied sections. The graphical interpretation of the Ripley function showed that in the studied cenopopulation the plants are randomly distributed. Using the distribution map of the dominant age states it was noted that the generative plants were closer to the periphery of the site. Graphic interpretation of Ripleys cross-function showed that young and mature plants are placed randomly in cenopopulation. Apparently, on the whole, the random nature of the individuals distribution is characteristic of S. korshinskyi cenopopulations experiencing a significant anthropogenic load in the composition of the phytocenoses.

Abstract:
AbstractOedaleus asiaticus Bey. Bienko is a significant grasshopper pest species occurring in north Asian grasslands. Outbreaks often result in significant loss in grasses and economic losses. Interestingly, we found this grasshopper was mainly restricted to Stipa-dominated grassland. We suspected this may be related to the dominant grasses species, Stipa krylovii Roshev, and hypothesized that S. krylovii contributes to optimal growth performance and population distribution of O. asiaticus. A 4 year investigation showed that O. asiaticus density was positively correlated to the above-ground biomass of S. krylovii and O. asiaticus growth performance variables (survival rate, size, growth rate) were significantly higher in Stipa-dominated grassland. A feeding trial also showed that O. asiaticus had a higher growth performance when feeding exclusively on S. krylovii. In addition, the choice, consumption and the efficiency of conversion of ingested food (ECI) by O. asiaticus was highest for S. krylovii compared with other plant species found in the Asian grasslands. These ecological and biological traits revealed why O. asiaticus is strongly associated with Stipa-dominated grasslands. We concluded that the existence of S. krylovii benefited the growth performance and explained the distribution of O. asiaticus. These results are useful for improved pest management strategies and developing guidelines for the monitoring of grasshopper population dynamics against the background of vegetation succession and changing plant communities in response to activities such as grazing, fire and climate change.

Abstract:
Increasing the light level in protected cultivation of ornamental crops via supplementary lighting is critical to enhance both production and external quality especially during the periods of low light availability. Despite wide applications the effects of light intensities were not previously addressed on water loss pathways. In this study rose plants were cultivated at 100, 200 or 400 μmol/(m2·s) photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD). The stomatal responsiveness to desiccation, stomatal anatomical features and cuticular transpiration were determined. Plant biomass as well as photosynthesis response to light and CO2 were also assessed. Increasing growth PPFD led to a considerable increase in plant biomass (85 and 57% for 100 to 200 and 200 to 400 μmol/(m2·s) respectively). Photosynthesis was marginally affected by increasing growth PPFD from 100 to 200 μmol/(m2·s) while a further rise to 400 μmol/(m2·s) considerably increased photosynthetic rate at high light intensities. Higher PPFD during cultivation generally led to larger stomata with bigger pores. A PPFD increase from 100 to 200 μmol/(m2·s) had a small negative effect on stomatal closing ability whereas a further rise to 400 μmol/(m2·s) had a substantial stimulatory effect. Cultivation at a PPFD higher than 100 μmol/(m2·s) led to lower rates of cuticular transpiration. In conclusion, high growth PPFD (&gt; 200 μmol/(m2·s)) enchanced both photosynthetic and stomatal anatomical traits. High light intensity (&gt; 200 μmol/(m2·s)) also led to a better control of water loss due to more responsive stomata and decreased cuticular permeability.

Abstract:
The paper deals with the study of adaptation mechanisms of Eastern Transbaikalia wild cereals to environmental conditions at the initial ontogenesis stages. The authors have determined the germination of three species xerophytic cereals seeds ( Agropyron cristatum (L.) Beauv, Stipa krylovii Roshev, Tripogon chinensis (Franch.) Hack.). The authors have noted differences in rates of seed germination of these cereals depending on the relation to moisture deficiency. More mesophilic species ( A. cristatum ) had the highest rates of germination. A large contribution to the process of germination is made by storage nutrients, proteins in particular. The total amount of protein is related to the rate of germination. Seeds with more protein sprout faster, which may be due to the appearance of osmotically active substances as a result of hydrolysis, which makes it possible to effectively use soil moisture. Seeds of one type of cereal collected in different populations may differ in the content of storage proteins. The ratio of different fractions of storage proteins can characterize the origin of the species. A higher content of glutelin fraction was found in the seeds of S. krylovii . There is also a more effective use of glutelins in the seeds of A. cristatum , which can also provide intensive germination. In general, the studied species have a difference in the rates of mobilization of various fractions of storage proteins.

Abstract:
<p>Tuntun angin is one of important floodplain plants in and around Kajuik Lake located in Riau Province, Indonesia. Morphological identification shows that the scientific name of this plant is <em>Elaeocarpus floribundus. </em>The study aimed to confirm the taxonomic status of tuntun angin using <em>matK</em> and nuclear intergenic spacer (ITS) sequences. The methods included fresh leaf DNA isolation, polymerase chain reaction, electrophoresis, sequencing, and data analysis using BLASTn program and MEGA software version 6.06 programs. The results showed that the <em>matK</em> sequence (519 bp) of tuntun angin had highest similarity to <em>E. floribundus</em> <em>matK</em> sequence that was available in GenBank. It was supported by the high max score (937), low E-value (0.0), high identity value (100%), and high query cover (100%). However, the ITS sequence of tuntun angin did not show similarity to <em>E. floribundus </em>ITS sequence because there was no database of the sequence in GenBank. This study was able to confirm the taxonomic status of tuntun angin as <em>E. floribundus</em> using <em>matK</em> sequence and also showed that morphological and molecular identification techniques were complementary to each other. Moreover, this study enriched the DNA sequence database of <em>E. floribundus </em>in GenBank which will be useful for this species’ molecular identification.</p><p><strong>How to Cite</strong></p><p>Roslim, D. Abstract:
Eradication of Mosquito Nests (PSN) in community environment is the prior focus of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) prevention and control, implemented through the practice of eliminating breeding sites and avoiding mosquito bites. The aimed of the study was to determine the most influence of PSN practice against the incidents of DHF. The case control study arranged at Puskesmas Kecamatan Ciracas Jakarta Timur work area, then interviewed sample from case and control group, as many as 47 people from each group. Samples of case group were DHF patients who registered at medical record of Puskesmas Ciracas in January-April 2020. While samples from control group were the closest neighborhood of every case sample with similiar characteristic by age group, sex, and house environment. Nevertheless, research respondent which will be interviewed to collect data had to more than 15 years old to prevent information bias. Positive correlation against DHF incidents proved by bivariat analysis of draining water container, using container lid, unused stuff management, using repellent, and keeping larvivorous fish. Among of those factors, logistic regression test showed regularly drained water container once a week had the most effect to DHF incident. At th[1] Kemenkes RI.
