AbstractThe literature of ethnicity in Africa indicates a major role for Christian missionaries in the creation of languages in Africa. It has been argued that certain African ethnic groups owe their existence to the ‘invention’ of their language by missionaries who created a written dialect—based on one or more vernacular(s)—into which they translated the Bible. This language came to be used for education in mission schools and later also in government schools. The Bible dialect consequently became the accepted standard language of the ethnic group and acquired the function of one of the grou

Achebe’s magnum opus, Things Fall Apart, circles around a Nigerian community and the life of the Ibo people. It illustrates the life of local people before and after the British colonisation. The novel gives an account of Okonkwo’s life as a highly valued member of an Ibo clan, during the colonisation period. In this article, I intend to argue that the life of this clan was enchanted before colonisation. Later, I seek to elaborate on how this enchanted life is affected by Western civilisation and Christianity and how these elements disenchanted the Ibo people’s worldview. The liveliness of mat

We intent to shed new light on the role of Pidgin, one of the languages used by Achebe's characters in No Longer at Ease. We suggest that, contrary to what some literary critics have interpreted, Pidgin, far from being the language of triviality or of the uneducated alone, represents in Achebe's work an honourable rite of passage from rural life into urban development in a multilingual post-colonial nation, and a bridge between conflicting worlds, Africa and Europe, tradition and innovation. Natural Language Processing (NLP) research is still in its infancy in Africa. Most of languages in Africa have few or zero NLP resources available, of which Igbo is among those at zero state. A substantive's indefiniteness is determined by its ability either to accept the definite article ا ل in those cases where the latter is able to induce definiteness, or to take the place of that which accepts the definite article in the

Review question / Objective: To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to compare the effect of lower-dose sugammadex using IBW or CBW as dosing scalars, with that of standard-dose sugammadex based on TBW, on reversal time, defined as time to recovery of train of four ratio (TOFR) ≥ 0.9, among morbidly obese people after moderate or deep NMB with either rocuronium or vecuronium. Eligibility criteria: We included only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared TBW with other dosing scalars for sugammadex. Studies not published in full text ar
