Abstract:
A study was carried out at the supper segment of Qua Iboe River from November, 2018 to August, 2019 in four sampling stations to assess the impacts of coastal activities on water quality. Water samples were collected monthly and analyzed using standard procedures of Associations of Official Analytical Chemist and American Public Health Association. The stations comparisons and location of significant differences were carriedout using ANOVA and Least Significant Difference (LSD) test, while paired sample t-test were employed to compare the seasonal difference. The mean ranged values of water temperature were (25.03 – 25.330C), pH (5.8 –6.6 mg/l), DO(3.11 - 5.45 mg/l), TDS (18.63 – 32.53mg/l), EC (8.33-13.16􀀁s/cm), Turbidity (7.61 – 18.32 NTU), TSS (90.80 - 165.63 mg/L), NO3 -1(33.02 – 78.33mg/l), P04 3-(4.44 – 7.39mg/l), Cl-(43.60 – 63.21mg/l), COD(35.96 – 113.05mg/l), NH3(0.33 – 0.62 mg/l). Mean values of TSS, EC, TSS, NO3, PO4 3-, NH3 and turbidity were higher in wet season, while water temperature, pH, DO, Cl- and COD values obtained were higher in dry season. Spatial variations in parameters were ascribed to levels of anthropogenic activities and wastes discharged within the stations; the seasonal variations were emanated from influx of wastes, and dilution as result of surface run-offs during wet season. Based on the findings, the WQI values were poor for human consumption; especially from station 2 to4.These calls for urgent attention by Federal / State Ministry Health and Environment regards to its effects on human health and consistent water quality monitoring should be put into consideration.

Abstract:
The research assessed the concentration level of heavy metals and total hydrocarbon in Qua Iboe River Estuary of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria during the months of April, May and June. The experimental research design was adopted and a total of 72 water samples were collected on weekly basis from ST1, ST2 and ST3 during high and low tides in thoroughly-rinsed 1-litre plastic containers to avoid adulteration of the samples. Samples were analyzed in-situ and in the laboratory using standard methods. The results of the concentrations of the sampled parameters during high tide included: Cr (0.003-0.21mgl-1), Fe (0.123-0.511mgl-1); Mn (0.018-0.66mgl-1), Pb (0.105-0.603mgl-1), Mg (0.42-0.623mgl-1), Cu (0.00-0.32mgl-1) and THC (0.12-0.88mgl-1)while the low tide concentrations showed: Cr (0.001-0.061mgl-1), Fe (0.56-4.11mgl-1), Mn (0.002-0.13mgl-1), Pb (0.011-0.211mgl-1), Mg (0.108-1.342mgl-1), Cu (0.011-0.076mgl-1) and THC (0.23-0.80mgl-1). The concentrations of Hg and As were negligible throughout the study. Analysis revealed that THC varied significantly across the sampled stations (ANOVA, P <0.001). Pollution Index, PI <1 for Ni, Mn, Na, Hg, As, Mg and Cu, implied that there was no pollution in the estuary. Fe showed that the estuary was slightly polluted with PI 1-2; Cr, V and THC recorded PI 2-3 signifying that the water was moderately polluted; PI >5 for Pb revealed that the estuary was seriously polluted with lead. The oil spills by ExxonMobil’s offshore platforms in the area, the heinous practices of waste dumping along the coast have resulted in the high THC and heavy metals concentrations found in the water samples. Hence, the water in Qua Iboe River Estuary is polluted and not safe for personal or domestic uses. The study recommended that Exxon Mobil and other oil companies in Nigeria should adhere strictly to international best practices in oil exploration/exploitation, environmental conservation, maintenance of equipment and safety of their infrastructure should be their priority. Prompt actions should be taken towards clean-up exercises in case of oil spill incidents in the area and proper, modern sewage and solid wastes disposal mechanism should be put in place by the host communities.

Abstract:
This research investigates the history of the Qua Iboe Mission (now Mission Africa) between the years 1939 and 1979. More specifically, it evaluates the impact of WWII, independence and the Nigerian civil war on QIM’s educational and medical work, on its areas of influence (Qua Iboe, Igala and Bassa) and more particularly on the development of the Qua Iboe Church as a fully functioning indigenous Church. QIM not only wanted to establish an indigenous Church, it was moving towards that goal. However, generally, implementation of the policy of indigenisation appeared slow. Between 1939 and 1979, momentous events propelled QIM forward; instability of the times brought uncertainty concerning QIM’s future and demonstrated the need to secure the Church’s future; the demise of the myth of white superiority began to change the historic missionary/indigene relationship from paternalism to partnership; the rise of AlCs challenged Missions to implement national leadership; increased governmental involvement in education and medical work freed QIM to focus more directly on church work; these events spurred QIM to be more proactive about training; absence of overseas funding encouraged self-support; fewer missionaries overseas provided opportunity for Nigerians to gain experience; each event brought renewed concern to implement the policy of indigenisation, with the Nigerian civil war acting as the final tipping point. Often seen as detrimental to the missionary endeavour, these events were blessings in disguise for the indigenous Church. This research adds an individual Mission’s voice to several conversations: the role of indigenes in Christianity’s expansion and in WWII; the effects of WWII, independence and the Nigerian civil war on mission generally; the relationship between colonialism, nationalism, African Independent Churches, African theology and Missions. It contributes specifically to a greater understanding of the factors that accelerated the implementation of QIM’s policy of indigenisation.

Abstract:
The term bean does not designate only one variety of food, it is a lexicon and botanical complex that includes different species. Abstract:
This study, developed through research conducted at the federal governmental institutions IBGE and IPEA, has as its theme the diagnostic methodologies for development planning, since the assertive decision-making and public policy-making are based on a proper understanding of the reality of a city or region. The main objective is to analyze the research carried out by Brazilian federal governmental institutions basing on development assumptions, from which results are used for designing and decisions of public and private institutions. This is an exploratory research, using bibliographic and documentary references. At first, an analysis of the recommendations for the development proposed by the authors Stiglitz, Sen and Fitoussi (2010) was performed and later a systematization of indicators developed by IBGE and IPEA institutions, such as continuous PNAD, the Household Budget Survey, Census, System Social perception of Education, Health, Public Safety, Social Assistance (poverty), and Social Tolerance of Violence Against Women. The study found that the institutions studied partially meet the recommendations of the authors, and such a situation may interfere with decision-making for public policies planning.

Paulo, O Estado de São Paulo, O Globo e Jornal do Brasil during the period ranging from December 2000 to 2007, in which we could find a large number of news about official statistical data produced by Brazilian statistical bureau (IBGE) and related to Brazilian people s living conditions. The aim of this study was to identify the signification emerging from these texts as well as different modes of presence of IBGE as they were constructed by the newspapers which, for that purpose, adopted enunciative and figurativization procedures, and also find out how figurativity was capable of unleashing a series of meaning effects particularly those of objectivity, subjectivity, veridiction, veracity and fiducia (trust). The theory and methodology to achieve our aim came from discursive semiotics as it provides us with resources to analyze different structures of the news on journalistic pages starting from the most concrete and superficial level up to the deepest level and its degrees of invariance and general categories in the semionarrative dimension. Our corpus was selected following almost seven years of accompaniment and evaluation of such news with the selection of more than 60 editions of newspapers on the whole. We adopted signifying relevance criteria to achieve homogeneity as to the selected news stories so that our collection included top or highlighted stories on front pages or special inserts and some on section pages only if they proved pertinent to the analysis. The news also articulated both verbal and visual systems of expression in syncretism. Another criterion was to choose same date articles if such procedure was considered relevant to our analytical approach. The question of our research work was to understand how each newspaper bearing its own identity marks as enunciating subject developed mechanisms to build the meaning of statistical data of scientific nature and at the same time issue IBGE simulacra from their texts. Our basic hypothesis was that in their enunciations arising from Other s information (IBGE), the papers under analysis efficiently managed discursive strategies by means of which they conveyed microuniverses of axiological values to their readers as well as evaluated and sanctioned a /doing/ from alterity

Abstract:
Chatbots are computer programs that interact with users using natural language. Since its inception, the technology has advanced greatly and cloud-based platforms from big companies allow developers to create intelligent and efficient chatbots. However, there are not many development approaches to the main modules of a chatbot that are flexible enough to allow the creation of different chatbots for each domain, while maintaining a robust dialogue control in the application. There have been some works that try to develop a more flexible approach, each of them with their own advantages and disadvantages. One of the most notable advantages is the use of multi-agent systems to distribute and perform the tasks performed by the chatbot. In this context, this work proposes a general and flexible architecture based on multi-agent systems for building chatbots in any domain chosen by the developer, with dialogue control in the application. This architecture uses an adaptation of the information state approach, also using software agents, to perform dialogue management. To validate the proposed architecture, an user scenario involving the implementation of 4 proof of concept chatbots is analyzed discussed.

Abstract:
In recent years, Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) has emerged as one of the most effective and beneficial science teaching practices for developing science concepts in learners and for motivating them in the study of science subjects. IBSE is a pedagogical practice that allows learners to develop key scientific ideas and to understand the natural world, using skills employed by scientists. Like most science school curricula around the world, the South African life sciences national curriculum (referred to as Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement - CAPS), advocates for the adoption of IBSE. Despite the growing consensus about the cognitive and motivational benefits of IBSE, this pedagogical approach is seldom implemented by life science teachers, due to various factors. This qualitative research, involving a case study, explored the knowledge, perceptions, and adoption of IBSE by four life sciences high school teachers, conveniently selected from public schools around Johannesburg, in South Africa. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews, and the findings show that participating teachers have substantial knowledge and positive perceptions of IBSE. However, they are less inclined to adopting IBSE in their life science classrooms due to inhibiting factors. We recommend the training of life sciences teachers in effective way of abating the constraints of implementing IBSE effectively.

Abstract:
The main aim of research is to investigate students’ perceptions toward science course before and after the Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE) implementation during science lessons. The research also examines teachers’ use of inquiry based science education in their classrooms. The topic of earthquake was selected as the main focus to implement IBSE and related activities in this field. The research is a part of “Schools Study Earthquakes (SSE)” project, which is funded and supported by European Union Erasmus Plus program. The results show that IBSE supported instruction positively affected students’ perception toward science course. In addition, the educational approach of the project, IBSE, seems to be an effective method to teach earthquake phenomenon and earthquake-related subjects to students by science teachers. Keywords: earthquakes, inquiry based science education, science teachers, students’ perceptions.

Abstract:
