Abstract:
There have been many cases of intrusion of civil aircraft into the airspace of foreign States. On occasion, the subjacent State has reacted by using force against such aircraft, sometimes with fatal consequences. Customary international law admits the use of force only in exceptional circumstances. As the United Nations specialized agency responsible for international civil aviation, ICAO has conducted fact-finding investigations into a number of cases of aerial shootdowns and adopted resolutions and taken decisions in this connection. Such resolutions and decisions have clearly been influenced by political factors.<br>The Organization has also taken specific legal and technical steps aimed at reducing the dangers to civil aircraft and their occupants arising out of an intrusion. In the legal field, its principal achievement has been the adoption in 1984 of an amendment (Article 3 bis) to the Chicago Convention which is, however, not free of ambiguities and obscurities in meaning and which, despite numerous assertions to the contrary, does not reflect the exact scope of customary international law in this area. On the technical side, the Organization has successfully developed a number of detailed provisions in Annexes to the Convention which are universally respected and accepted by its Member States.

The new document is evaluated in terms of the impact on existing regulations, too. The thesis explores the impact of that the preparing document to interested organizations and proposes possible procedure in its implementation.

Abstract:
This project examines the safety management of civil aircraft accident investigation authorities in International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Member States, with particular emphasis on the independence of the investigations. The research aims to establish the current level of resources and methodology adopted by Member States’ accident investigation authorities. The output of this work not only identifies the current situation but informs initiatives for some of the States in the process of establishing their investigation capability. ICAO Annex 13 was analysed and found to be based on the principle of independent accident investigations. Also, a four dimensional measuring index (4DMI) has been developed to measure the independence of accident investigations in ICAO Member States. Data were collected from 45 States and are presented in the thesis. As a result of applying the 4DMI to the collected data, the States were ranked according to their scores, and divided into four categories of independence. Analysis of the four categories and the scores from the four dimensions revealed that States approach the concept of investigation independence in different ways; however, there are several practices that are common within the highest independence category and several other practices that are common within the lowest independence category. The research recommends that States should work towards improving their overall investigation independence by implementing the seven identified practices in the High-Independence category and distance themselves from the five practices identified as common in the Low-Independence category.

Esta pesquisa de mestrado aborda o projeto geométrico de aeródromos a partir dos padrões e recomendações da ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) e da FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). Os padrões e recomendações da ICAO foram extraídos do documento Annex 14 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation e de documentos por ele referenciados. Para o caso da FAA, serviu de base o documento Airport Design: Advisory Circular 150/5300-13, incluindo-se aqueles nele referenciados e considerados pertinentes ao escopo do estudo. Seguindo-se uma estrutura de critérios de projeto proposta, os padrões e recomendações da ICAO e da FAA são comparados entre si, explicitando-se as diferenças nas especificações em si e também na forma como estas especificações são feitas por cada norma. Para o caso em que comparações diretas não são possíveis, as comparações são feitas a partir de um conjunto de aeronaves com características conhecidas. No caso dos critérios cuja avaliação é mais complexa, equacionamentos matemáticos são propostos. Apresenta-se também uma série de flexibilizações dos padrões, as quais são voltadas à acomodação das aeronaves A380-800 e B747-8 em aeroportos existentes. Estas flexibilizações provêm das conclusões do A380 Airport Compatibility Group (AACG) e do Boeing 747-8 Airport Compatibility Group (BACG), no caso dos padrões da ICAO. Para a as flexibilizações dos padrões da FAA, servem de base os Engineering Briefs (EBs) por ela emitidos. Finalmente, com base nos critérios de projeto considerados, é feita uma análise do Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo/Guarulhos quanto à operação das aeronaves A380-800 e B747-8.<br>This Master Thesis tackles aerodrome geometric design according to the standards and recommended practices from the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). ICAO standards and recommended practices are from the document Annex 14 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation and from the referred documents. In turn, FAA documents herein addressed are the Airport Design: Advisory Circular 150/5300-13 and others referred in this one. By following a proposed design criteria framework, ICAO and FAA standards and recommended practices are compared. From such comparison, it is shown the differences in specifications itself and also in the way by which ICAO and FAA specify their standards. For the cases where direct comparisons are not possible, it is used a set of aircrafts of known characteristics. For the most complex design criteria, mathematical equations are also proposed. Another addressed issue is the flexibilization of design standards, which aims the accommodation of A380-800 and B747-8 aircrafts at existing airports. The ICAO flexibilizations are made from conclusions of the A380 Airport Compatibility Group (AACG) and the Boeing 747-8 Airport Compatibility Group (BACG). FAA flexibilizations are from this same agency, namely through EBs (Engineering Briefs). Lastly, the addressed design criteria are applied to analyse the operation of A380-800 and B747-8 aircrafts at São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport.

Abstract:
It is indeed strange that the Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), composed of all the present 183 member States, should have no powers in connection with the principal functions of the Organization (that is, the formulation of Standards and Recommended Practices); nor any over the appointment and creation of the Organization's principal officers and sub-organs.<br>Stranger still is the fact that even the little and insignificant powers that this Assembly might possess can be easily and constitutionally/conventionally "usurped", or interfered with, by the limited 33-member Council of the Organization.<br>Much more puzzling is the fact that this limited membership Council, which is normally supposed to be answerable to the Assembly, runs the Organization's entire business exclusively as it sees fit: Without the remaining 150 States having any means whatsoever of checking it.<br>The result of this strange arrangement has been that the majority of States simply cannot contribute to the advancement of the international aviation cause as they might have: had the universal organ had the voice and say that it now lacks.<br>The entire constitutional and political set-up of ICAO can hardly be justified in both the Schools of Democracy and of its corollary, the Supremacy of the Assemblies of international organizations.<br>A serious and meaningful re-evaluation of the ICAO framework and working methods to remedy the anomaly is therefore called for in the present study.

Авер’янова Юлія Анатоліївна<br>In the Civil Aviation sphere, Research activities aim to improve efficiency and tightening safety targets by providing new strategies of operations, all this is achieved through the implementation of modern and new Communication, Navigation, Surveillance and Air Traffic Management process. In Air Navigation, these goals are met by improving the exiting services and introduce the new one applicable for navigation towards safety, more reliable approach in all weather conditions. The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) has been identified as a key to technology by providing essential position and timing information supporting flight and ATM operations. GNSS can be observed in the fitting of new CA Aircraft, since a majority of them are now equipped with its receivers. GNSS contains numerous satellites, for instance GPS for The United State of America, Glonass for Russian Federation, Galileo for Europeans Unions, Beidou for Chinese, and more that are still under development. This Master’s has demonstrated the power and benefits of combining two satellites for better performance This thesis argues that atmospheric layers (Ionosphere, Troposphere) do play a vital role on the perturbation of signals from Satellites, in order to improve navigation regardless of the lost signals. Pseudo-range model is presented together with the performance of GNSS integrity with two constellations (GPS combined with Galileo). However, a significant number of reports have been received on different harmful interference to GNSS signals and some suggestions to correct those were mentioned. This thesis focuses on the final approach of an aircraft using combined signals for reliability and safety navigation in CAT I operation. Lastly an innovative algorithm is presented for better guidance at the final approach.

Esta tese propõe um modelo computacional para análise de conformidade de áreas e superfícies de proteção de aeródromos aos critérios de projeto geométrico previstos no Anexo 14 da ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). Não foram encontrados na literatura softwares open source com esta finalidade. Os critérios da ICAO impõem áreas e superfícies imaginárias de proteção que se originam na vizinhança de cada uma das pistas de pouso e/ou de decolagem. Dessas exigências normativas decorre um complexo conjunto de áreas em solo e superfícies no espaço aéreo, as quais ordenam a presença de objetos fixos e móveis dentro e fora dos limites do sítio aeroportuário. Os dados de entrada do modelo proposto compreendem: informações sobre a topografia e sobre os limites internos e externos do sítio; a posição de objetos fixos e móveis; a categoria da aeronave; o procedimento de aproximação empregado; e informações sobre a configuração do sistema de pistas. O modelo computacional proposto integra conceitos de CAD (Computer Aided Design) e de GIS (Geographic Information System) para a geração automática de geometrias georreferenciadas, de acordo com um MDE (Modelo Digital de Elevação), internamente representado por uma malha TIN (Triangulated Irregular Network). Além da geração virtual das geometrias, o modelo permite a detecção automática de eventuais interferências nas áreas e superfícies de proteção pelos objetos fixos e móveis. O modelo apresenta os resultados das análises por meio de janelas gráficas e permite a exportação dos arquivos KML para um globo virtual, como o Google Earth. Os arquivos KML representam as áreas e superfícies de proteção e os objetos fixos e móveis, destacando os obstáculos detectados. A modelagem proposta foi implementada em linguagem Python, testada e validada para instâncias fictícias e para um caso real, relacionado ao Aeroporto de Viracopos em Campinas, no Brasil (SBKP). Buscas sistemáticas na literatura científica nacional e internacional indicam que a modelagem aqui proposta é inédita, contribuindo para preencher a lacuna identificada na revisão bibliográfica realizada.<br>This thesis proposes a computational model for analysis of conformity of aerodrome protection areas and surfaces according to ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) Annex 14 geometric design criteria. No open source software with this purpose could be found in the literature. ICAO criteria impose imaginary protection areas and surfaces that start at the vicinity of each runway, leading to a complex set of geometries on the ground and in the airspace. Fixed and movable objects, both inside and outside the aerodrome property limits, are controlled by means of this set of imaginary surfaces. Input data for the herein proposed model comprises: aerodrome site topography and internal and external boundaries; fixed and movable objects position; aircraft category; approach procedures; and runway system configuration data. The model integrates CAD (Computer Aided Design) and GIS (Geographic Information System) technologies in order to automatically generate georeferenced geometries, that take into account a DEM (Digital Elevation Model), internally represented by a TIN (Triangulated Irregular Network) approach. In addition to geometry generation, the proposed model also performs obstacle assessment regarding the suppositional geometric interferences between protection areas and surfaces and the fixed and movable objects. The model results are outputted by means of screen plots, execution console (detected geometric interferences) and KML (Keyhole Markup Language) files, to be exported to virtual globes, like Google Earth. The KML files represent the geometries of protection areas and surfaces as well as fixed and movable objects, highlighting detected obstacles. The model was implemented in Python language and tested for validation, employing both fictitious and a real instance, related to the Viracopos International Airport (SBKP), in Campinas, Brazil. The undergone bibliographic search, considering national and international literature, indicates that this research introduces an unprecedented model, filling in a gap in the literature.

Abstract:
Civil Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) have increased in variety and importance. They offer applications that can replace manned aircraft in certain areas or that are unprecedented by their manned counterparts and unique to UAS. The current national and international regulatory framework for aviation regulates 'aircraft' and does hence generally not differentiate between manned and unmanned formats. However, most of its regulations were developed in the light of manned aircraft making their application to UAS a difficult task. The potential of UAS has been recognized, work on future regulations is underway and the first legal instruments aiming for UAS integration have been developed. This thesis explains and contrasts the regulatory approaches of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the United States and Canada to UAS. Present rules and proposals for future regulations are analyzed. In a closer look, the actual certification and licensing rules for UAS and their resultant operational possibilities are examined and compared.<br>Les véhicules aériens civils sans équipage se sont développés en termes d'importance et de variété. Ils offrent des utilisations remplaçant les aéronefs avec équipage dans certains domaines, ou bien même, ils sont utilisés dans des nouveaux domaines qui leur sont désormais uniques. L'actuel cadre juridique en aviation, aux niveaux national et international, règlemente l' 'aéronef' sans généralement dissocier entre ceux qui sont avec ou sans équipage. Cependant, la plupart de ces règlements ont été développés à la lumière de l'aéronef avec équipage, ce qui peut rendre leur application aux aéronefs sanséquipage quelque peu difficile. Le potentiel des véhicules sans équipage a été reconnu, des travaux pour une nouvelle règlementation est en cours et le premier instrument légal visant l'intégration de ces véhicules à été développé. Cette thèse explique et contraste les différentes approches règlementaires relatives aux véhicules sans équipage que peuvent avoir l'Organisation Internationale de l'Aviation Civile, les Etats-Unis et le Canada. Les règles actuelles ainsi que des propositions pour defuturs règlements seront analysés. Plus précisément, l'actuelle certification et les règles d'émission de licence pour les véhicules sans équipages, ainsi que les possibilités opérationnelles de ces derniers seront examinées et comparées.

Abstract:
The need for any aviation authority to have an alert and more so, efficient accident or incident investigation mechanism cannot be over emphasized particularly in present day aviation practice. It is thus, in the best interest of any state, not only to be on the high alert in the event of an accident occurring. As well as also having sufficient resources and expertise, to engage in the investigative process. A significant factor to the carrying out of such investigations is off course, the manner in which such process is regulated. More so because investigations of this nature can only be carried out and addressed in a manner stipulated as a matter of law. It would therefore follow, that the legislation which directly regulates the process in which the investigations are carried out should be both succinct and clear. Further, it should also adhere strictly to internationally established guidelines of due conduct in the occurrence of accidents. Aircraft accident and incident investigations are central to the observance of safety in aviation as a sector. Thus, the realization of aircraft safety in aviation is a central function of any aviation authority. It is a role so central, that it is one that is internationally recognised and harmonised. Though not a matter of enforced International law, international best practice in this field is established in a convention, in particular the International Convention on Civil Aviation of 1944, which is more commonly referred to as the Chicago convention. As all treaties and/or conventions this is an opt?in regulatory mechanism, in which only member states bind themselves. Therefore, where a state becomes a signatory to same and has bound itself, it is of crucial importance that it observes the laws or regulations to which it has bound itself. As a matter of course, individual state compliance at times even for mere ratification purposes has proved over time to be a tricky process for numerous states. This is particularly prevalent in developing countries. Some texts have attributed this to various aspects, such as lack of necessary expertise and resources amongst other factors. Whatever the reason however, it is important that states eventually comply with regulations laid out in conventions, so as to achieve harmonisation in processes of International applicability. This research paper seeks to take an in depth look into to the extent to which Swaziland as a member state of the Chicago convention, has achieved compliance with the set guidelines of the Chicago Convention. Abstract:
In 2004 the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) published a set of Language Proficiency Requirements and demanded that pilots and controllers working on an international setting demonstrate a basic level of language proficiency. The objective of this strengthened provision was to avoid language-related problems during air-ground communications and to highlight the crucial importance of English as a prerequisite to reliably perform this job. This thesis begins with a students centered approach and aims at identifying the attitudes that Italian pilots and controllers have towards the ICAO language proficiency requirements in aviation. It will then go on to examine the attitudes towards the training provided in the context of aviation. Particularly, the objective was to investigate pilots’ and controllers’ opinions with regard to ICAO language descriptors and periodical test of English for Aviation seen as a short-term objective, and the perception of language proficiency as a long-term objective for successfully fulfilling future professional duties and as a sense of personal responsibility. The last part of the study aims at exploring the actual methodology used to teach aviation English. Data were collected through mixed methods. Qualitative data was gathered through focus groups, whereas quantitative data was collected by administering a survey questionnaire. As for the methodology in this area, data were collected through interviews to four teachers and then compared to the data collected from the students in the last part of the questionnaire.

Abstract:
Abstrakt Syftet med vår undersökning var att studera ICAs reklamfilmer ur ett genusperspektiv. Vi har specificerat oss på om det manliga eller kvinnliga könet framkommer mer eller mindre i filmerna, om det har skett någon förändring kring genusperspektivet från år 2006 till 2016, samt om varorna som finns med i filmerna är mer eller mindre riktade till något av könen.   Frågeställning: <ul type="disc">Hur framställs kvinnor respektive män i Icas reklamfilmer? Har det skett någon förändring från år 2006 till 2016? Är varorna som visas i reklamfilmerna avsedda för kvinnor, män eller båda?   Vi har utgått från teorier som vi anser är relevanta för vår undersökning. Vi har delat in teorierna i tre olika områden: Genus Medier och identitet Reklam och media. För att genomföra undersökningen har vi gjort en kvantitativ innehållsanalys på 15 olika reklamfilmer. Vi har avgränsat oss till reklamfilmer som har visats på TV under tre olika högtider i Sverige: jul, midsommar och påsk. Vi har sedan gjort en kvalitativ innehållsanalys på fem filmer som vi anser lockar fram olika stereotyper.   Resultatet vi fann i vår undersökning var att männen dominerar i ICAs reklamfilmer, och med det menar vi att det bland annat är fler manliga karaktärer som är med och har en slags ledarroll. Vårt resultat skiljer sig något mot vad teorierna kring ämnet påstår, nämligen att kvinnor ofta dominerar reklambranschen.<br>Abstract The purpose of our survey was to study the gender perspective in ICA's commercials. We have specified whether the male or female gender appears more or less in the movies, if there has been any change in gender perspective from 2006 to 2016 and if the items featured in the movies are more or less directed to any of the sexes. We have limited ourselves to commercials that have been shown on television during three different festivals in Sweden: Christmas, Midsummer and Easter.   Question: <ul type="disc">How are women and men produced in Ica's commercials? Has there been any change from 2006 to 2016? Are the items shown in the commercials intended for women, men or both?   We have assumed theories that we consider relevant to our survey. We have divided the theories into three different areas: Gender Media and identity Advertising and the media. In order to conduct the survey, we have made a quantitative content analysis of 15 different commercials. We have limited ourselves to commercials that have been shown on television during three different festivals in Sweden: Christmas, Midsummer and Easter. We have then made a qualitative content analysis on five films that we consider attracting different stereotypes.   The result we found in our survey was that the men dominate ICA's commercials, and we mean that among other things there are more male characters that are in and have a sort of leadership role. Our results differ slightly from the theory of the subject, namely that women often dominate the advertising industry.

Abstract:
In air traffic, safety is the key word. Safety is kept in numerous ways. One of these ways is with the help of Aeronautical Information (AI). AI is all information regarding air traffic, i.e. aerodrome hours of operation, weather reports and information about unserviceable navigational aids. Sometimes it happens that some of the information does not reach the pilots in the aircraft, which can have a negative impact on safety. This thesis examines the flow of AI all the way from the originator of the information to the end-user, and analyzes it to find where the errors occur. The thesis is based on the rules and regulations set by ICAO, the International Civil Aviation Organization, two field trips to the Swedish AI provider LFV, and interviews with four airlines, Novair, NextJet, Malmö Aviation, and SAS. The results exposes where in the flow the weakness exists, and finally gives advice as to how these weaknesses can be addressed.

Regional airports are important for the development of a European network of integrated air transport. The Bragança Regional Airport is not an exception to this statement and as it looks to increase its capacity and flexibility of aircraft operations the cost of developing the infrastructure becomes highly elevated hindering expansion projects. Regardless, an effort to enhance the actual service level is made where this document aims to provide an evaluation to the Airport Master Plan, focusing on the structural and geometrical characteristics of the airfield facilities. Further, to obtain lower grade improvements that will still promote its present situation with reduced costs. To support the assessment a series of international aviation standards and airport design recommendations were reviewed, highlighting those of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), to ensure the compliance of necessary requirements. A variety of airport design software was used to calculate adequate pavement thickness, also other parameters as the runway orientation which made possible to elaborate the proposed development alternatives. Os aeroportos regionais são importantes para o desenvolvimento de uma rede europeia de transporte aéreo integrado. O Aeroporto Regional de Bragança não é exceção e a perspetiva de aumento da sua capacidade e flexibilidade, em termos de operação de aeronaves, implica um custo muito elevado no que diz respeito ao desenvolvimento e concretização de projetos de expansão da infraestrutura. Apesar disso, neste trabalho é realizado um esforço no sentido de melhorar o nível atual de serviço, tendo este trabalho como objetivo propor uma evolução do Plano Diretor do Aeroporto, com foco nas características estruturais e geométricas das instalações do lado ar do aeródromo. Pretende-se, acima de tudo, propor uma melhoria das atuais condições com custos o mais reduzidos possível. Neste sentido, foi realizada uma avaliação baseada na pesquisa duma série de normas internacionais de aviação e recomendações de projeto de aeroportos, destacando-se as da Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) e da Organização da Aviação Civil Internacional (ICAO), de forma a permitir a garantia do cumprimento dos requisitos necessários ao estudo. Neste contexo, foi usada uma variedade de software de projeto de aeroportos, em particular para o cálculo das espessuras do pavimento adequadas e também doutros parâmetros, tais como a orientação da pista, o que tornou possível a elaboração das alternativas de desenvolvimento propostas.

Idag finns det begränsade teorier som behandlar det postmoderna konsumtionssamhället utifrån ett medie- och kommunikationsvetenskaligt perspektiv. Syftet med examensarbetet är att undersöka spänningsfältet mellan ICA och högskolestudenter i ett konsumtionssamhälle genom att granska varumärkeskommunikationens betydelse på digitala plattformar. Materialinsamlingen är genomförd i form av kvalitativa intervjuer, med medarbetare på ICA, samt fokusgrupper med studenter. Med studien vill vi ge en inblick i hur kommunikationsprocesser strategiskt utformas för att nå rätt målgrupp, hur relationer vårdas och vad en god dialog innebär och har för framtida betydelser. Studien har analyserat det spänningsfält som ligger i grund till valet av konsumtion gällande matvaruhandel som högskolestudent. Studiens slutsatser visar på att det är en rad olika faktorer som är bidragande till att bygga upp en stark relation med ett företag.<br>Today there is limited theories considering reasearch on the postmodern consumtion society from a media and communication perspective. The purpose with this thesis is to investigate the tension between ICA and Univeristy students in a consumption society through analysis brandbuilding communications meaning on digital platforms. The material to the thesis is collected by qualitative interviews, both with employees at ICA and focus groups with university students. With this thesis we want to give an insight of how communication processes strategically is designed to reach their target group, how relationships are nurtured and what a good dialogue means for future brand building. The study has analyzed the tension of what includes the choice of consumption when it comes to retail business from university students perspective. The conclusions indicate how there are a number of factors that are contributing to build a strong relationship with an organization.

In today's society the use of mobile phones is part of most peoples everyday life. Phone service providers want to provide an efficient, reliable, secure and safe phone service experience for their users. Ericsson has developed a load test to test their products in order to ensure the highest quality. An important part to achieve a safe and efficient user experience is to have some mechanism for blocking material and providing dynamic material based on a users location. In this report an implementation of is described. ICAP is a protocol developed for just this purpose. ICAP is able to block unwanted content and provide dynamic adaptation based on a users location. This thesis aims to present an implementation of ICAP for the load test tool in order to provide testing of telecommmunication functionality during high load.

La tesi si propone l'obiettivo di esaminare le caratteristiche della lingua dell'aviazione, il cosiddetto Aviation English (AE), rivolgendo un'attenzione particolare alle dinamiche delle interazioni verbali che avvengono tra piloti e controllori del traffico aereo. A partire da un breve excursus sui diversi tipi di linguaggi, da quelli specialistici alle lingue controllate, si cercherà di fornire una chiara definizione dell'AE, delineando gli aspetti che lo rendono una vera e propria lingua e non una semplice varietà di inglese. La tesi passerà in rassegna tutte le convenzioni e le regole che compongono questa lingua e che rendono la comunicazione in volo efficace a livello internazionale. Si vedrà anche come la comunicazione in aviazione sia suscettibile a molti fattori linguistici (e non), il che comporta per gli operatori del settore, l'obbligo di conoscerla a fondo, più della loro stessa lingua madre. In conclusione, si eseguirà un'analisi conversazionale di una comunicazione terra-bordo-terra realmente avvenuta in un'emergenza. Più precisamente, si tratta dell'estratto del volo US Airways 1549, diventato famoso come "il miracolo dell'Hudson". Questo permetterà di mettere in risalto le regole dell'AE, applicate in un caso concreto, quanto singolare, e notare come queste siano efficaci nel gestire, a livello comunicativo e operativo, gli imprevisti.

The goal of this diploma's thesis is to create a design of a two stages amplifier working in a band reserved for the secondary surveillance radar at the frequency of 1090 MHz. Output power of the amplifier should be 20 W and efficiency should be as high as possible. Because of this the second stage is designed in class C. Contents of this diploma's thesis include a theoretical analysis, simulations of the amplifier parameters, comparison of the Ansys Designer and AWR Microwave Office simulation programs and design of both stages of the amplifier, followed by a comparison of the measured parameters with the simulations.

Staphylococcus aureus destaca-se como principal micro-organismo associado à mastite bovina contagiosa, sendo que as infecções crônicas podem ser causadas pelo crescimento bacteriano na forma de biofilmes, o que pode estar associado à persistência desta bactéria na glândula mamária e à resistência a diversos antimicrobianos. Estudos epidemiológicos empregando técnicas como a macrorestrição seguida de eletroforese em campo pulsado (PFGE) têm sido realizados, com a finalidade de identificar clones e caracterizar as infecções por S. aureus. Os objetivos deste estudo foram: avaliar a frequência de isolamento de S. aureus em amostras de leite colhidas periodicamente em um grupo de propriedades leiteiras do Vale do Taquari, RS; avaliar o perfil de suscetibilidade aos antimicrobianos dos isolados de S. aureus identificados; classificar esses isolados em grupos clonais; avaliar a distribuição e a permanência dos grupos clonais nas propriedades leiteiras ao longo do tempo, além de verificar a presença de genes relacionados à formação de biofilmes (icaA e icaD). Foram colhidas amostras de leite de todas as vacas em lactação de 21 propriedades, amostradas semestralmente durante dois anos, totalizando 1060 amostras. A presença de S. aureus nas amostras foi detectada por isolamento e a identificação foi realizada de acordo com o National Mastitis Council. Isolados confirmados foram testados, pela técnica de disco difusão em ágar, quanto à suscetibilidade frente a treze antimicrobianos. Os isolados também foram submetidos à macrorrestrição do DNA total – PFGE e posteriormente testados pela PCR para detecção dos genes icaA e icaD. Das 1060 amostras avaliadas, 395 não apresentaram crescimento bacteriano. Staphylococcus sp. coagulase negativa foram identificados em 262 amostras, seguido de 136 amostras em que identificou-se S. aureus. A frequência de isolamento de S. aureus variou de 3,45% a 70,59% nas 17 propriedades em que este agente estava presente. No teste de suscetibilidade aos antimicrobianos, a maioria (75,7%) dos 132 isolados testados apresentaram perfil de sensibilidade, sendo a resistência mais frequente à penicilina (18,2%) e ampicilina (14,4%). Em apenas 27,3% dos isolados detectou-se os genes associados à formação de biofilmes pesquisados, sendo o gene icaD o mais prevalente, seguido da presença de ambos os genes. Os 122 isolados clivados pela enzima SmaI e submetidos à PFGE foram classificados em 38 grupos clonais. Observaram-se poucos grupos clonais persistentes, pois somente seis foram descritos consecutivamente em pelo menos duas coletas. O grupo clonal 16 foi o mais prevantente, apresentando isolados em uma mesma propriedade ao longo de dois anos. Conclui-se que Staphylococcus aureus está presente na glândula mamária de bovinos em lactação em pequenas propriedades da região. Esses isolados apresentam baixa frequência de resistência aos antimicrobianos. Há uma grande variabilidade de pulsotipos entre os isolados presentes nessas propriedades, porém poucos grupos clonais persistem nas propriedades amostradas. Não foi possível associar a permanência dos grupos clonais nos rebanhos à presença dos genes icaA e icaD ou ao perfil de resistência a antimicrobianos.<br>Staphylococcus aureus stands out as the main microorganism associated with bovine contagious mastitis, whereas chronic infections can be caused by bacterial growth in the form of biofilms, which can be associated with the persistence of the bacteria in the mammary gland and resistance to various antibiotics. Epidemiological studies employing techniques such as macrorestriction followed by pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) have been carried out, aiming to identify clones and characterize S. aureus infections. The objectives of this study were: to assess the frequency of S. aureus isolation in milk samples collected periodically in a group of dairy farms from Taquari Valley, RS; evaluate the profile of antimicrobial susceptibility of S. aureus identified isolates; classify these isolates in clonal groups; assess the distribution and retention of clonal groups in dairy herds over time and to verify the presence of genes related to biofilm formation (icaA and icaD). Milk samples were collected from all lactating cows from 21 properties that were sampled every six months for two years, totaling 1060 samples. The presence of S. aureus in the samples was detected by isolation and the identification was performed according to National Mastitis Council. Confirmed isolates were tested for susceptibility to thirteen antimicrobial by disk diffusion technique in agar. The isolates also underwent macro-restriction of total DNA - PFGE and were subsequently tested by PCR for detection of genes icaA and icaD. Of the 1060 samples tested, 395 showed no bacterial growth. Staphylococcus sp. coagulase-negative samples were identified at 262, followed by 136 samples in which S. aureus was identified. The frequency of isolation of S. aureus ranged from 3.45% to 70.59% in 17 properties wherein this agent was present. In antimicrobial susceptibility testing, the majority (75.7%) of the 132 isolates tested showed sensitivity profile, being most frequent resistance to penicillin (18.2%) and ampicillin (14.4%). In only 27.3% of the isolates were detected genes associated with biofilm formation surveyed and icaD was the most prevalent, followed by the presence of both genes. The 122 isolates cleaved by SmaI and submitted for PFGE were classified into 38 clonal groups. There were few persistent clonal groups, because only six groups were described consecutively in at least two collections. The clonal group 16 was the most prevalent, presenting isolates at the same property over two years. Is conclusive that Staphylococcus aureus is present in the mammary gland of lactating cattle on small farms in the region. These isolates have low frequency of antimicrobial resistance. There is great variability of pulsotypes among isolates in those properties, but few clonal groups persist in the sampled properties. It was not possible to associate the permanence of clonal groups in herds to the presence of icaA and icaD or to the profile of antimicrobial resistance.

In the midst of stiff and fierce competition and increased number of grocery retail outlets providing a variety of products, customers have become accustomed to patronizing multiple outlets. Retailers have recognized this trend and are of the view that customer satisfaction plays a role in the success of business strategies. Therefore it has become important for grocery retail stores to try and manage customer satisfaction. This paper was thus developed to investigate the satisfaction levels of customers in supermarkets. Data was collected from three supermarkets in Visby, Gotland. The study examined the importance of overall dimensions and specific elements of customer satisfaction towards the measurement of satisfaction levels. In addition, comparative analysis was conducted between the three relative grocery stores. Customer satisfaction levels were measured. The highest percentage of customers of the whole sample belonged to medium level of satisfaction. The statistical result concluded that customers of ICA Nära and customers of ICA were higher satisfied than those of Coop Forum. The results showed that customers felt satisfied with Location, Staff courtesy and Reliability of supermarkets as the top aspects that drive satisfaction while additional services were ranked lowest. Due to these results, the impact of these attributes on Customer satisfaction must not be underestimated.

Studien redogör för kommunikationsverktygen ICA använder i den externa kommunikationen av ICA I love eco-sortimentet. De studerade kommunikationskanalerna är reklamfilmer samt kundtidningen Buffé. Tidningar och reklamfilmer som innehöll information om ICA I love eco-sortimentet under perioden mars 2008 - oktober 2011 valdes ut för textanalys. I textanalysen utgick vi ifrån semiotiska och retoriska begrepp för att se meningen som texterna skapar. Resultat visar att ICA använder samhällsengagemang som ett kommunikationsverktyg och strategi. Resultat visar även att ICA använder fem olika dimensioner av nytta, positiv och negativ emotionell nytta, värde för pengarna, sociala livet samt funktionaliteten, i marknadsföringen av det ekologiska sortimentet.

We are constantly being fed information. Everything and everyone we come into contact with may somehow make a new impression on us, whether we are aware of it or not. One of the ways that people in today’s society in Sweden are being given information is via different types of media, for example through commercials. Whether it’s a video clip or a still-frame picture, a commercial is an effective way for a company to reach out to potential customers. However, it is not only the messages or signals that may appear obvious that these companies send out when advertising with commercials. When taking a closer look at a commercial, it becomes clear that these pictures or video clips may make more impressions than it may first appear. Commercials mirror the society that we are living in, yet at the same time they send out signals about what the society could be like. Creating expectations, longing and ideals; commercials have a larger impact on their public than it may first seem. In this essay we have chosen to focus on two Swedish brands: the grocery store Ica and the clothing brand Hennes &amp; Mautriz (H&amp;M). Focusing on three different time periods – the 1990’s, 2000’s and 2010’s – we have studied the development of these two companies commercials and analyzed what possible messages these commercials send out. Our main focus has been to study these brands from a gender critical perspective and analyzing how men and women are portrayed, comparing differences and similarities.

Abstract:
The aim with this essay is to map down how the language plays a part in the persuasion carried out by ICA-Stig – one of the most beloved characters from ICA’s commercial soap opera. Through a discourse analysis with a linguistic focus this study can provide one explanation to why the audience trust ICA-Stig and how he persuades them to do their grocery shopping at ICA. The study takes off from the rhetorical means of persuasion, ethos, logos and pathos, along with how ICA-Stig commits a linguistic intimisation and exploits intertextual strategies in order to approach the audience and their reality. The result shows that Stig uses personal pronouns in a way that enables him to commence intimisation in the sense of addressing his co-workers and the audience in a family-like manner. Regarding intertextuality, Stig uses a composition of different discourses in favour of his character since he is able to reach a large audience whilst nourishing the personal touch, combined with proving himself credible. Through his language, ICA-Stig reduces the gap between non-fiction and fiction, and in his transcendent role he becomes a factive character – neither real nor fictive.  This role allows him to become self-aware, which gives him an outside perspective on commercials in general. From a rhetorical perspective, the intimisation and intertextuality function as to have ICA-Stig relate to the reality, habits, and experiences of the audience. This creates the situation that Daddy-ICA has something to say to his ICA-family, which becomes the premise on which the commercial is founded. The intimisation enhances ICA-Stig’s ethos since he can prove to be a caring father and a knowledgeable shop manager. The appeals to pathos lie within his caring language. Appeals to logos can be found in the product placement of the groceries in an environment very much reminiscent of reality and everyday-life. Finally, the essay problematises the role commercial has and plays in today’s society due to the fact that this discourse is approaching the discourse of private life and communication, which, in turn,  paves the way for new ways of persuading the costumers.<br>Syftet med detta arbete är att genom en diskursanalys kartlägga hur språkbruket fungerar i övertalningen hos ICA-Stig ‒ en av de mest folkkära karaktärerna från ICA:s reklamsåpa. Med språket som utgångspunkt kan denna analys bidra till förklaringen varför tv-tittarna litar på ICA-Stig och hur han får dem att vilja handla på just ICA. Studien tar avstamp i tre utgångspunkter där retorikens medel för övertalning, ethos, logos och pathos, tas i beaktande jämte hur ICA-Stig begår en språklig intimisering med tittarna, samt utnyttjar intertextuella strategier för att närma sig deras verklighet. Resultatet visar att ICA-Stig tillämpar intimisering genom att bruka pronomen på ett sådant sätt att såväl tittare som medarbetare tilltalas familjärt. Intertextuellt kan ICA-Stig sägas utnyttja olika diskursmöten till sin fördel för att samtidigt nå en bred kundkrets och värna det intima, samt visa på sin trovärdighet. Genom språket tänjer han på gränserna mellan fiktion och fakta, och kan i sin diegesöverskridande roll sägas vara en faktiv karaktär ‒ varken overklig eller verklig. Faktionen gör det möjligt för ICA-Stig att visa självmedvetenhet, vilket ger distans till reklambranschen. Retoriskt sett, har intimiseringen och intertextualiteten funktionen av att låta Stig anknyta till publikens verklighet, vanor och erfarenheter. Det skapar förutsättningar så att reklamen grundas på premissen att Pappa ICA-Stig har något att berätta för sin ICA-familj. Intimiseringen ger ICA-Stig ethos eftersom han bevisar att han är en trygg och vårdande fadersgestalt, såväl som kunnig butikschef. Anspelningar till pathos finns i hans vårdande språkbruk. Logosargumenten ligger i varornas produktplacering i en verklighetsnära vardagsmiljö. Avslutningsvis problematiserar uppsatsen reklamens plats och funktion i samhället utifrån det faktum att reklamens diskurs närmar sig privatlivets diskurs och på så sätt dels kan påverka konsumenterna på helt andra sätt, dels bli en än större del i samhället och dess vardag.

Según el estudio realizado sobre el pasado histórico de la ciudad y sus atracciones culturales; la gran concurrencia de turistas nacionales y extranjeros que visitan el lugar y sobre todo la población residente, se encontró que en la zona no existe infraestructura ni espacios públicos que apropiadas para diversas actividades culturales que imposibilita que ésta tenga un desarrollo en su formación y difusión de la cultura dentro y fuera de la ciudad. Para contrarrestar la carencia en infraestructura se propone un proyecto arquitectónico de uso cultural que aborde programas y actividades en espacios semipúblicos y públicos al aire libre, que dinamice la cultura y recreación por medio de la interacción de la población residente del lugar, los visitantes y turistas, que servirá para reconocer la gran riqueza y diversidad cultural que se alberga, dando visibilidad a expresiones artísticas, talleres, fotografías y audiovisuales, exposiciones, difusión de libros, etc.; para así rescatar los valores más preciosos de un pueblo, que es su tradición, cultura y folklore, dentro de un espacio moderno y creativo que se adapte a las necesidades de la época.

<p>Idag råder en hälsotrend vilket har lett till att det efterfrågas mer hälsosamma livsmedel än tidigare och detta skapar nya möjligheter för livsmedelsföretagen. Ica är den första livsmedelskedjan som har pågående hälsotrenden. Detta arbete beskriver hur Ica har tagit fram Gott liv och hur Ica har gått tillväga för att skapa en medvetenhet kring dessa produkter. Dessutom redogör arbetet för om budskapet har nått fram till konsumenterna, om det stimulerar dem till köp samt hur de uppfattar Gott liv. Arbetet grundar sig på en intervju med Icas dietist Christina Karlsson samt en konsumentundersökning med 100 deltagande konsumenter. Vårt resultat visar att det finns en hög medvetenhet kring Gott liv samt höga köpintentioner bland konsumenterna. Det är dock många av de tillfrågade konsumenterna som inte har provat produkterna än och därmed behöver konsumenterna troligtvis stimuleras till köp.</p>

Abstract:
There is much dialogue in the global aviation industry about Safety Management Systems (SMS) and how it should be integrated across all domains of the industry including aircraft design, production, flight operations, overhaul and maintenance, suppliers, service providers, airports, and so forth (Johnson, 2012). Regulators have made significant progress in recent years to implement ICAO’s SMS into airlines, albeit as a required or recommended practice. More recently the regulators are seeking to implement SMS into the aircraft manufacturing and aircraft maintenance domains. This research reviewed regulatory publications from multiple countries to assess the technical makeup of SMS, and understand what regulators are requiring, or recommending, and when. It was found that global regulators accept the ICAO published definition of SMS, but different regulators have varying approaches regarding implementation. However, they are consistent in initially targeting airlines for SMS implementation. SMS comments range from “The best thing since sliced bread” to “Worst thing since the creation of the FAA; I don’t need anyone telling me what’s safe when I already know it; waste of time and money”. This investigation experimented with field tests to connect the engineering, production and airline domains into one ICAO SMS model. Results indicate that because the different domains are risk-specific, the application of one safety risk management model to all domains is not viable. The SMS model applies to airlines because airlines’ primary risk is about operational safety. Aircraft production and maintenance is about production risk – therefore the risk model must be centric to process risk. Field test 3 tailored the ICAO SMS risk architecture to assess and mitigate process risk as applicable to the aircraft manufacturing and maintenance. Although the SMS architecture was usable, the content and focus was significantly adjusted to be production process-risk centric, to the point where the term “SMS’ was deemed out of place. The resulting model was therefore named Production Risk Management System (PRMS). Following the emergence of PRMS from field tests, this investigation reviewed industry, research and regulatory arguments for and against SMS in the airline industry, and correlated those arguments with the benefits and non-benefits of PRMS for the manufacturing and aircraft maintenance domains. The researcher advocates PRMS as a viable model that meets ICAO SMS-like architecture for aircraft production and maintenance. Methods were identified for developing and implementing PRMS, and for evaluating its ROI. If and when “SMS” is truly mandated in these domains, the researcher proposes PRMS as a viable model that should be considered. Furthermore, the researcher proposes that PRMS can be an effective production risk management system that can enhance the organization’s existing QMS, regardless of “SMS” regulations.

Si la regulación empresarial es abrumadora, el lograr iniciar un negocio radicará más en los contactos del nuevo empresario que en propias capacidades. Por el contrario, si las regulaciones son fáciles de cumplir y accesibles, cualquier persona con talento y buenas ideas puede ser capaz de crear y desarrollar una empresa formal. En ese sentido, el presente trabajo de investigación cuantitativa descriptiva tiene como objetivo identificar la brecha de tiempo y costo entre los procesos normados (estudio de gabinete), lo que sucede en la realidad (entrevistas) y medir la facilidad para hacer negocios en la ciudad de Ica. Para tal fin, se revisó la documentación pública vigente y se comparó con las entrevistas a empresarios, representantes de instituciones públicas de la ciudad de Ica para obtener las brechas de tiempo y costo de cada proceso. La metodología utilizada fue la del Banco Mundial Doing Business del cual se tomó los siguientes pilares de estudio, cuyo resultado obtenido para iniciar un negocio en la ciudad de Ica fueron: a) apertura de empresa: tiene que cumplir 16 procedimientos, toma 128 días , cuesta 20.02 % del ingreso per cápita, presentó una brecha de 38 días y 452 soles; b) permisos de construcción: tiene que cumplir 16 procedimientos, toma 209 días, cuesta 2.26% del valor de la propiedad, presentó una brecha de 15 días y 861 soles; c) obtención de electricidad; tiene que cumplir 10 procedimientos, toma 47 días, cuesta 125.09% del ingreso per cápita, presentó una brecha de seis días y 6,001 soles; d) registro de propiedad: tiene que cumplir ocho procedimientos, toma 36 días, cuesta 5.92% del valor de la propiedad, presentó una brecha de nueve días y 2,094 soles, y e) cumplimiento de contratos: tiene que cumplir tres procedimientos, toma 622 días, cuesta 24.9 % del valor demandado, presentó una brecha de 242 días y 1,500 soles. Este último aplica si existe un juicio por incumplimiento de contrato<br>If business regulation is overwhelming, the success of starting a business lies more in the contacts of the new entrepreneur than in their own capacities. On the contrary, if the regulations are accessible and easy to perform, anyone with talent and good ideas can be able to create and develop a formal company. In this sense, the present quantitative descriptive research aims to identify the time and cost gap between the normed processes (cabinet study), what actually happens (interviews) and measure the ease of doing business in the city of Ica. <p>”One-to-one marketing” är en marknadsföringsidé där relationen mellan kund och leverantör står i fokus. Den kunskap om en specifik kund som leverantören får via relationen kan användas för att utforma erbjudanden anpassade för just den kunden. Erbjudandena är ämnade att påverka relationen positivt och göra kunden lojal till leverantören. Nya tekniska hjälpmedel har medfört att information om kundens preferenser kan lagras och bearbetas för att därefter användas till att utforma dessaerbjudanden. ”One-to-one marketing” är dock förknippat med vissa svårigheter och problem. Ett specialanpassat erbjudande kan uppfattas felaktigt och integritetskränkande mot kunden och på såsätt påverka relationen negativt. Vi har studerat ICAs ”One-to-one marketing”-kampanj ”Mina varor” för att se huruvida denna stärker relationen till ICAs stamkunder eller om kampanjen inverkat negativt på relationen.Vi har utifrån en enkätundersökning kommit fram till att vårt urval av respondenter främst haft åsikter om utformningen av rabatterna. De problem som uppfattats av stamkunderna i denna undersökning har främst varit relaterade till att rabatterna uppfattats som konstiga och inte representativa.Uppsatsen indikerar på att detta bör förbättras för att kampanjen ska bli mer effektiv. Integritetsproblemet kommenterades endast av ett fåtal respondenter och har i denna uppsats inte visat sig som ett stort problem. Inga stora risker att relationen har försämrats med stamkunderna kan ses och undersökningen visade generellt positiva svar för ICAs del. Kampanjen kan dock förbättras genom mer representativa personliga rabatter samt att ICA med ytterligare dialog kan binda lojala kunder starkaretill relationen.</p>

Cette thèse concerne la conception d'une interface conversationnelle pour les agents assistants personnels. Ce travail s'inscrit dans un processus de développement d'un modèle générique d'agent assistant personnel. Après avoir examiné les divers types d'interfaces utilisées par des agents assistants, nous avons conclu que les interfaces conversationnelles étaient particulièrement bien adaptées à nos besoins. Cette thèse est donc focalisée sur la définition et la conception d'une interface conversationnelle pour un agent assistant, en tenant compte de plusieurs contraintes et hypothèses liées à l'agent lui-même, à son pilotage et à la nature du rapport utilisateur-agent, mais aussi aux caractéristiques des applications potentielles. Nous estimons qu'une interface conversationnelle spécialement conçue pour l'agent assistant, simplifiera son pilotage, entraînant une amélioration de la qualité de l'aide apportée par rapport aux interfaces classiques purement graphiques. Ceci diminuera la charge cognitive de l'utilisateur, puisque le travail d'interprétation et reconnaissance des intentions de ce dernier devient de responsabilité de la machine. Nous postulons aussi que le comportement intelligent de l'agent peut contribuer à l'amélioration de la performance liée à une telle interface, grâce à une politique d'affichage d'informations. De notre travail est né le concept d'interface conversationnelle pour une aide intelligente - ICAI. Une interface conversationnelle pour une aide intelligente est le résultat de la conjonction d'un mécanisme conversationnel en langage naturel parlé et de la gestion intelligente de ce mécanisme, permettant le déroulement d'un dialogue coopératif, et capable de gérer le déclenchement de plusieurs tâches à la demande de l'utilisateur, tout en n'exigeant qu'un minimum d'effort de la part de ce dernier. Notre approche s'appuie sur les ontologies, fil conducteur de nos travaux, qui nous permettent d'interpréter les messages, provenant de l'utilisateur ou d'ailleurs<br>This thesis concerns the design of a conversational interface for personal assistant agents. We studied the typical user interface used in personal assistants. We conclude that conversational interfaces are the one especially suitable for personal assistants. To design the conversational interface, we took in account several constraints related to the agent itself and the potential applications. As the result of this approach we expect to improve the quality of assistance and to reduce the user's cognitive load. Ln this thesis we present a new concept called ICAI: A Conversational Interface for an Intelligent Assistance. An ICAI is the result of the conjunction of a conversational spoken natural language mechanism and an intelligent management of such mechanism, enabling a cooperative dialogue between the user and the assistant agent. Our approach is based on ontologies that allow us to interpret messages from human and artificial agents
