Individuals use different solution strategies in order to dea with issues related to identity. Berzonsky explains the concept of identity with different cognitive strategies which people use to deal with identity conflicts and identity styles that formed by these cognitive strategies. By using different cognitive strategies, Berzonsky proposed three different identity styles based on social-cognitive identity model. They are informational oriented, norm oriented and diffuse-avoidant oriented identity styles. The purpose of the present study is to adapt Identity Style Inventory-5 into Turkish.

The aim of this study was to investigate interrelationships among the identity negotiation styles that people use, the cognitive and behavioural strategies they deploy, and their sense of subjective well-being. To examine this, 198 American and 109 Finnish college students completed the Identity Style Inventory, the Strategy and Attribution Questionnaire, Rosenberg’s Self-esteem Scale, and the revised Beck’s Depression Inventory. Results showed that people with an information-oriented identity style reported the highest level of self-esteem, those with a normative style had the most stable sel

Abstract Chapter 1—“What Is a ‘Garden’?”—first explores and critiques recent definitions of the term. It then proposes and assesses a variety of ways to approach defining the term. Guided by the thought that theory should follow practice, it provides a comprehensive inventory of garden types. This inventory is organized within six categories: identity and style gardens, preservation and collection gardens, destination gardens, “function-forward” gardens, setting and framing gardens, and personal gardens. The chapter concludes with a discussion of what does not count as a garden.

The LSI 1 instrument is a self-assessment whereas the LSI 2 uses the same format and life styles to assess an individual through input from five or more other people. Traditionally, communication scholars have been most concerned with how, when, where, and with whom individuals choose to communicate. While investigating communication events from an encoder perspective is important, it is equally important to investigate communication from a decoder perspective. Many researchers agree that gaining insight into the listening process—how individuals perceive, process, remember and understand oral messages—should enhance our understanding of communication events substantially. There appears to be a good deal of theoretical support for the notion that listening
