Building on an analysis of interviews with 61 social entrepreneurs, the study offers a more fine-grained exploration of the identity work of social entrepreneurs from a psychoanalytic, particularly Lacanian, perspective. Specifically, it suggests that what defines social entrepreneurial identity work is the blurring of beatific and horrific aspects of fantasies and a desire for struggle and lack. This in turn creates an emancipatory space in which discursive movement enables alternative forms of market enjoyment and ethical agency. The latter unsettles macro-discourses of capitalism by demandi

Abstract Friction stir welding (FSW) is a revolutionary material joining technique with significant advantages over traditional methods, such as eliminating hot cracking, porosity, and intermetallic layers. FSW is eco-friendly, producing no gas emissions, using minimal energy, and requiring no consumables. Submerged Friction Stir Welding (SFSW) further enhances these benefits by using an underwater environment, which improves cooling rates and material properties. Mobile robot navigation in unknown, unstructured environments such as hilly terrains is often complex due to uncertainties associated with classification of terrain features as traversable or non-traversable and identification of paths between start and goal that pose minimum danger to the robot during navigation. Humans possess an uncanny ability to identify paths under the presence of uncertainties and determine whether a terrain feature is safe to traverse or not. Therefore, it is beneficial if such human knowledge is taken advantage of when available. This paper discusses the use of reinfo

We live in a world where values are redefined and restructured. Our era, as a historical space, is traversed by profound changes, being punctuated by crises and revolutions in the most diverse fields of existence, but nowhere it is felt more sharply than in the horizon of culture. Through out the centuries, culture and cultural identity have been challenged by new perspectives, among which multiculturalism and pluralism are the target point in this endeavor. Abstract Interest in autonomous vehicles has attracted research into developing better navigation systems. Autonomous navigation systems guide unmanned vehicles to traverse any environment without human intervention; they require clear knowledge of the environment to make correct decisions. Information about the environment can be obtained from either ranging or vision sensors. Although ranging sensors such as LiDARs, radars, or sonars can detect the presence and location of obstacles, they don’t provide any information on whether the obstacles are traversable. Abrasive Water jet (AWJ) is one of the fast-growing non-conventional cutting methods with various advantages e.g., negligible heat effected zone, less cutting forces, and flexibility of materials. This work explores machining titanium alloy grade V using AWJ technique. One of the main concerns regarding robotic mobility is its ability to traverse different types of terrain. As we know from our own experiences driving and riding wheeled vehicles, different types of wheels are better for different applications. In the same vein, giving robots wheels of variable radius can change the torque needed to traverse the terrain, the speed of the vehicle, and the way the vehicle handles the roughness of the terrain. In our prior research of basic modes of mobility, we were able to identify a method for creating a variable radius wheel mechanism. This paper will focus o

Surveillance missions that involve unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) include situations where a UGV has to choose between alternative paths to complete its mission. Currently, UGV missions are often limited by the available on-board energy. Thus, we propose a dynamic most energy-efficient path planning algorithm that integrates mission prior knowledge with real-time sensory information to identify the mission’s most energy-efficient path. Our proposed approach predicts and updates the distribution of energy requirement of alternative paths using recursive Bayesian estimation through two stages:
